Hi Ladies

Well we have had a few BIG days here...

Jayde was so unsettled for those few days after starting the thickend formula it was so bad the other night she cried in pain for 4 hours so I took her to the hospital (as instructed) - She was admitted not cause of her reflux but my poor little one had a mild urinary tract infection

She is home now and settled however the thickend formula was actually doing her more harm then good as the paedatric doc said - she is a silent refluxer and it doesnt actually come out so it burns twice as bad as she makes more acid to break it down - they have now put her on her old formula and on meds for the reflux and fingers crossed she is ok

I was a mess last night and the night before cause of her been in hospital so sad to see a little one in a huge hospital cot with all her drips and stuff - my concern is that she has what I have - I have a disease of my kidneys where I get UTI's all the time and they end up in my kidneys and infect me pretty severly - I hope this isnt the case and at 8 weeks she will have a dye scan done of her kidneys to see if it is what I have...I certinally hope not

Colestar - I replied to your post in our Feb thread, but just want to say again that I hope things get better for little Jayde. They are so little at the moment, and I know even with Luka having trouble breathing and taking a bottle at the moment with his mucusy nose it breaks my heart. Where is their easy and healthy start to life? If there is anything I have learnt from this being my third baby, you can just be there for them to give the cuddles and reassurances. Unfortunately we cannot take on their pain, it would be nice if it worked like that wouldn't it? I hope there is light at the end of your tunnel soon lovey!

Liminal - Getting out of the house is more of a necessity for me than a want. I have my oldest DD in kinder, so need to drop off and pick up. Things are going ok though. I hate to say it, because I loved having DH at home, but my routine is so much better when he is at work! I will eat my words when I have a bad day I am sure!

Smithy - How is Charlie going with her sleeping? Luka still does not have a real routine and after pretty much being awake all of yesterday with what I am sure was a belly pain, slept a lot last night. Made feeding hard, as we had to keep waking him. Hoping for a better day today with him.

to everyone else. I am meant to be at playgroup soon, but am not showered and Tay is not dressed either. It is a case of I want to go but can't be bothered. I will get there.

KAZ... oh i know just how you feel hun with the not being bothered lol,thats just how i feel today very lazy lol but yes we will get there hun big hugs to you for thinking of us,things are going ummmmmm well ok lol..taking things one day at a time but its hard with all the kiddies.

COLE... oh hunny you poor thing and poor bubba girl ,gee hun i sure hope things are getting better big hug for you xxx im the same with this silly thickened formula i just dont know what to do my baby girl still cant do poos properly by herself no matter how much water i give her .

hi all,

hope everyone and bubs are going well! i've been MIA as i've been away staying at the inlaws for the past 2 weeks. it was so nice to have the extra help and i'm a bit nervous about being on my own now!!!! i've done a quick read about what everyone has been up to but too many for persies sorry!! but i feel somewhat up to date.

bub crying i think its feed time so i'd better go but will be back later to actually write a post.

Happy 4 weeks to Luka ... ... it spins me out how fast time goes when you have a newborn!

Welcome back Malia. You will be fine. I can imagine after having heaps of help, being on your own would be a bit daunting. My dh is back at work full time this week since Luka was born, and I have to say I am enjoying getting back to 'normal' for us!

I am off to see some friends this morning, both of whom are pregnant, one due in about 4 weeks and she is really over it, swelling, bp issues and the other due in July. Excited to see them, not so excited about the shocking headache I have though. Could just go back to bed and sleep. Not good.

Liminal - I am definitely finding it hard to do much of anything, let alone leaving the house! Vaeda has been cluster feeding from 10am - 4pm and wants to be held constantly in between. I spend most of the day sitting on the couch, thankfully daytime tv is full of cooking shows and makeover shows at the moment so it's quite relaxing. But I have been making a point of going for a walk for at least half an hour every day. Even if Vaeda is hungry the stroller sends her to sleep, or at least distracts her. I put on 30kg during my pregnancy so I need all the exercise I can get!

Now to attempt to put Vaeda in her sling again - I got a Sleepy Wrap (like a Hugabub) and sometimes she goes straight to sleep, but other times she just wails and I have to get her out (which is super hard to do, still learning how to use it).

Alright guys, i need some help. Kaleb screams full on from about the 3.30 feed till 10pm at night and i mean full on screaming he looks like his in pain so we try burping and everything but nothing works

do you guys have any idea what we can do to help? we are trying infacol & gripe water any other ideas i'm at my wits end.

oh no sweety maybe a nice warm bath ? a tummy rub and i know this might sound silly but moove his legs up and down like his rideing a bike maybe he has colic hun ? is he pooing alright ?maybe try putting him in a nice warm shower with you or dh over his shoulder
might help to go see a dr hun.good luck my sweetheart

Hey Ladies

Jayde is on road to mend she is going along well and the meds for the reflux are appearing to work *fingers and toes crossed* she has been pretty good as I bath her with me before we all go to bed at night and it is working quite well.

Hopefully her 8 week scan tells me her kidneys are AWESOME!

Smithy - Have you tried the "bike" legs the anti biotics made Jayde a little blocked and she was ok after we did that...

GabberQueen - my advice would be to go and see a doc - thats who gave us answers with Jayde as we tried it all before we were told she had silent reflux so perhaps there are some answers as she would scream from 7pm through til midnight at least - Hang in there

Jayde is starting to spend SO much time awake and playing and the other day she smiled at us as we were playing with her in her bouncer - she is one month old I cant believe it!

So the child health said it's normal for him to scream that much for 6 hours a day....

GabberQueen. Take him somewhere else or even to a doctor. Its so not normal.



Could be reflux? Munchkin used to have peak times for screaming.

I agree its not normal for a baby to scream like that for 6 hours seriously - the paedatrician told me that "normal" was 3-4 hours AT MOST on a bad day - so this screaming is not normal, as I have to moniter Jayde's unsettled periods

It sounds like what Jayde did - before the meds she would hit peak times and scream in pain...

It does work Smithy - well it worked for her that once I tried it and it works for wind lol but who knows these little things are wonders of mystery

I am proud of myself - I have begun walking every day again (pushing Jayde in pram) and I am well on my way to getting my body back - kinda helps that I have to watch what I eat lol

Scooby is looking well on the monitor but my blood pressure is up and there is some protein in the urine. Waiting now for blood tests then will be checking in for induction. Eek!"

I'm back for a visit, been so busy this week, barely been home.

Vintrar - thanks, its nice to know sometimes that your experience can help somebody, I just hope I dont come across as a know it all , I have been told I write quite straight forward sometimes, I guess cause of years of uni and I type almost 100 words per minute to so I can jabber on quickly. I guess I am lucky that I have a very very close group of friends and family and we have allootttt of children between us, local baby factory here lol. Between my 6 closest friends (inc my sis) there are 18 kids, 16 of them under 5yrs. We joke about registering ourselves as an official playgroup cause we meet fortnightly and it is crazzzyyyy. We have had all sorts with this lot to, twins, severe reflux, colic, coeliac disease, lactose overload, lactose and dairy intolerant intolerant and probably heaps more I cant think of. Wow Vaeda has a long cluster feed, I thought Amelia was bad from 5 to 10 at night with 5 feeds in this time, she did it from 5wks to 12. I have never seen genuine nipple confusion, they are pretty fast to work out how each thing works. You shouldnt have a problem, if they dont have them to frequently, what I have seen though is a preference for the bottle as they get older cause it is easier to drink, Amelia was a shocka and we went through a feeding strike.

Kamarine - the bottle went really well, she took to it great, so no problems this time round with trying types of bottles, straight to the pigeon cause thats all that worked last time. DH is just going to give her one a week on Fri so I can go have coffee and shop with my mum, hopefully having one will continue to keep her used to it so I can go back to uni in July with no problems. I was thinking the same thing about bf and reflux, I guess all they can do is medicate.

Emma - 8 hrs sleep, well done, Chloe is doing two 5 hr stints at night, well most nights. How did the infacol go?

Kazaraz - omg that would have freaked me out to with the ultrasound woman, I swear some of them shouldnt open their mouths, they aint doctors. One told a friend of mine that she couldnt see one of her ovaries or uterus properly and left her for over an hour while getting her another consult. Chloe wakes up in the morning all snotted up, I found these great little snot sucker outters in Woolies with Amelia, they are great, a little odd to some people but I swear by them cause they cant blow their noses.

Colestar - your poor little bubba, I hope she is doing better. The meds for reflux should get her going better within a week, but it can take a few more to really settle the reflux down. Fingers crossed her ultrasound shows good kidneys.

Smithy - is she constipated (like rock hard pebbles and really straining to push them out) or just finding it difficult to get the bowel motion happening? For constipated you can try coloxyl drops, they really help.

Gabber - so totally not normal to cry for so long, normal is up to 3 hrs, over 3 hours they should check him out and eliminate any other problems. If they cant find any it will probably unfortunetly be colic, which I still laugh at cause they dont really know what colic is, so to me that means that if they dont know what it is they call it colic Lots of cuddles and comfort is all that really works for colic, even trying swaddling and a dummy can help while being held.

Well as for me I feel like crap, got a throat infection and snotty nose and headache, waiting for DH to wake up from night shift so I can have a nap. But yeah we have made 4 weeks Chloe started getting bad wind pains, so we started infacol, it has really helped but now she farts like no little lady should but at least it isnt bothering her. She has also started showing reflux symptons and that is bothering her so if it gets worse off to see our dr. I love my gp, she has been my dr for like 22yrs, she is pro bf support, has had 3 reflux bubs herself and is also an ob. Chloe is smiling heaps more and even lets off little squeels. things are going great for us here pooing all under control not useing the cloxyl any more as it was giving her big pains in the belly so just useing natural watered down prune juice once a day in like about 2-3mls thats all you need and we get poos every day now its really taken away so much stress on me as i was worried every day knowing she should pooy.were now getting 5-6hrs sleep at a time through the night
