Hi Ladies :hello:

I hope all is going well. DS has been great the last 2 nights, going nearly 8 hours between feeds on Thursday night and another 6 hours lat ...As much as I like that he is sleep longer at night (touch wood - early days yet!) the downside is when he wakes up I realise that my BB are SO FULL and painful...last night I filled up a nursing pad (the gel/silicon pidgeon ones), leaked over my singlet and bed sheets :doh: then cause they are so full he only has 1 side and doesn't even empty it...I don't want to express to much as I then will make more...catch 22. I also want to get rid of some cause I really dread getting mastitis again. Is this only happening to me and everyone's milk supply has balanced out?

Harley's Girl - I see you are still BF and your bub's sleeping like a log! What do you do? I think mine would literally explode!!

Hummingbird...woohoo on the sleep. Last night DD, slept until 3am and the previous night she slept until 4am (went to sleep about 9:30 both nights). In the morning my boobies are heavy and full and warm and I dribble a bit, but unfortunately I don't leak gallons. I would be more reassured about my supply if I did though :) She only took one side yesterday morning and I had to express the other so I did that, got about 50mls and stuck it in the freezer. Other than that, apart from the last couple of mornings, I *think* my supply is starting to balance out, until her next feeding frenzy!

Hummingbird - haha nah im lucky i have soft saggy boobs lol nah its not even 12mths since i stopped feeding DD so my milk settled down within the first week of having william. hes being like his brother anyway, DS1 used to sleep like this at 5wks, has ALWAYS been a great sleeper at night. mind you DS1 sucked during the day and william seems to be doing well during the day so far so im hoping he will be good for all sleeps. 3 time lucky lol

Hummingbird - DD slept nearly a week between either 10.30/11.30pm to 6.30/7am and yes my boobs were SO full the relief when she fed was huge (as was the amount absorbed ny my breast pads!). she seemed to feed well those first feeds though because i haven't bothered expressing. she woke at 3am for a feed last night so i'm wondering if my luck has run out re her sleeping through! :doh:

OMG how lucky are you girls! DS is still feeding three to four hourly, day and night. And DD STILL doesn't sleep through the night even though she just turned two! What I would give to get some more sleep...

Bun, don't worry. DD may be good with her sleep but DS still wakes up once or twice a night. I still get up anyway. DH usually gets up to him on the weekend. I catch up on sleep in the afternoons.

BUN I think my body wishes that DS was waking up that often...it's a shame when the baby sleeps through and your body doesn't!

HARLEYS GIRL As much as I like the look of my very full BBs I wish they were soft and saggy!! At least I could hug my DH! ha ha!!

Hopefully my supply will settle down soon, my body must think that DS are triplets!! A friend has kindly offered to lend me her electic breast pump (whoo! hoo!) so I might borrow it and start making a stash of EBM rather than having it drip all over a towel...then I can take my DH's offer and have him do night feeds for a night and I can have a few long awaited vinos! I guess I should do this before my supply does drop off....

On another note....what happens when you DTD? A friend told me if you orgasim then you leak all over the shop? Just wanting to know whether to warn DH or surprise him? It's been a while I hope I remember how to do it!!

I've heard that too Hummingbird but with DS i never leaked. Don't know about this time though, haven't done it yet ;)

i would prob stick to leaving a bra and pads on while DTD if your still "full" :) unless you want a wet bed lol

I dont wear anything and dont have a prob unles DH plays too much lol mind you i have heard that some men like the milk leaking?? lol

Evening Ladies!!

Well, Jacks has been asleep since 4 today (it's 7pm now) and I'm wondering... do you girls wake them up after a certain time for their naps or just let them go? Especially since it's sorta running into "bed time"... I would rather not though ><;;

Also, do any of you still have sensitive nipples? I'm not having any trouble with them while feeding, but things like a towel against them is a bit of a shock to the system...

Humming, when we dtd I kept my bra on JIC. Didn't want to cover poor DH in BM, he thinks it's a little odd as it is that my boobs aren't "his" anymore haha. But I didn't notice any leaking... mind you the only time I notice any uncontrolable leaking is after a shower or after Jacks feed.

Teagz, I haven't been waking DD, just letting her go. They need a lot of sleep at this age so I just take it as it comes. Although in saying that, during the day time if it's getting past 4ish hours or more since her feed I'll wake her, but during the night she can sleep as long as she wants.

And yes to the sensitive nipples especially on the towel! Ouch! I get that, but not with anything else like clothes/bra.

Teagz - i also try not to let the day feeds go past 4 hrs at the most. evenings i leave her sleep though. the maternal health nurse said this was saying if we try and get 5 good feeds in between 7am and 7pm she should hopefully start to get get in to a better day/night routine? that's what we're aiming for anyways,

DD has a snotty nose which is making her breathing a challenge.it also makes her gag the poor thing with it sliding down her throat! saline spray is helping though. she sounds like a growling possum when she's on the boob though! lol

thanks girlies!! That's what I worry about. I ended up waking him up at 8, so 4 hours after his last feed... I feel horrible waking them up because I know how cranky I get when I'm in a good sleep and someone wakes me up! He had his feed and ended up going back to sleep at 8.45ish, slept through til 11, and then til 5, and then til 8.30 :o Mummy dragged him out clothes shopping yesterday so he musta been nackered ><;;

Eluned, glad my nipples aren't the only ones then! I was getting alittle worried about attachment, but then confused because it doesn't actually hurt when he suckles and my CHN said he was attaching fine... I'm finding BF so technical, and a little confusing at times!!

I only wake a baby if hes asleep at bed time :) other then that he just does his bit lol i had to wake him last night but we was still half asleep when i fed him his dinner lol

Sore nipples - this is the only i havent had this with but DD was bad for AGES! one thing that helps is to have your booby hang out to air dry after feeding, so if your changing to the other side stick a towel or facewasher under the last to feed on boob and leave it out while feeding on the other side. also lanoline helps. If they get really bad try expressing and feeding EBM for a day or even jsut a few feeds to help heal your nipples.

Let me tell you, ladies, a pap smear 6 weeks after giving birth is NOT fun! Just had my 6 week post natal check and ob did a pap smear as I haven't had one in over 2 years. Owwwie did it hurt! Won't be letting DH near me any time soon! Other than that all is good!

Also had Amelia's 6 week check at the CHN. She is going GREAT! She has put on 630grams in 3 weeks!!!

Hi all DS2 had check up on fri and he now wg 4595 grams up 410 grams in 2 weeks.

I dont wake him for feeds he wakes regularly seems to have 1 or 2 good sleeps a day and rest is naps!!! Over night he sleeps better in bed with us but I dont so hopefully we can fix that ASAP as I am so tired and I am snapping at DS1.

I don't tend to wake Z either, but she generally wakes every 3-4hrs for feeds anyway.

Feeb - well done on the weight gain, i have had a couple of nights where Z seems to like sleeping in with me, but she's fine during the day.. go figure! I think her prob is my flow is so so fast and she gets HEAPS then gets a belly ache no matter how much wind she brings up :wall:

Eluned - oh hun you poor thing, we have our 6wk check-up tomorrow and i have to have one too.. was meant to get them every yr from b4 A was born and i haven't had one :shhh:

AFM - Z has fed every hr from 10 til 2 this morn so i think she might be having a growth spurt which is great except A is still teething and now has a runny nose and is clinging to me like glue!
She tends to gave a feed, a bit of a play and then a sleep and feeds roughly every 3hrs so is normally awake about 1hr to 1.5hrs and then asleep the same time period, although she is stirring a lot more the last couple of days and at times is happy to have a bit of a play and go back to sleep.

Ava is LOVING her, we ask if she wants to kiss Zara and she goes up to her on the floor, kneels down and kisses her head then pats her head. When i am burping her A comes up, moves my hand and gently pats her on the back! :cry: it's gorgeous.

Z went into a 000 suit today for length, A wasn't in 000 until she was a couple of months old, i am so proud of my growing baby girl!
Will add some pics to my album on here and have updated some albums on FB.. i'm ADDICTED to photos... lol

Well hope everyone is well, have managed to do the dishes, some washing, let Ava play outside and vac the lounge even in b/w hourly feeds and A only sleeping an hour.. NOT BAD i reckon.. DP better not say anything about the state of the house!

Eluned, sorry to hear that the pap smear was so painful, hope you feel better soon. I also have to have one cause my last 2 which I have had every six months have been irregular so they need to keep a close eye on whats going on down there.

I have a question for the mums that are using the Brauers Colic Relief.....I started using it a few days ago and it seems to be helping....Madison is burping a lot more after feeds than she used to although she still does get wind that gets trapped and no matter what I do it just wont come out but it doesnt seem to be as bad as it was. So my question is how long is it OK to keep using the drops for? There is not much info in the box about them. I am putting them into her bottle at each feed atm. Is that what everyone else is doing?

tracehb i just squirt straight into his mouth, I have cut down on how often he only has it now in late evening as that is when he seems to be uncomfortable.

I am going to give the colic relief a try aswell, Z seems to get a bit fidgety etc at night before bed, wanna make sure thats not it!
She spent the 1st half of the night in our bed as she would fall asleep cuddling but as soon as was in the bassinet she would wake.

Well 6wk check-up today :o am not looking forward to the chance of having to have a pap smear, also going to ask for blood tests to check my vit d levels etc... am looking forward to getting weighed though (am going to ask).

things here have been pretty all over the show atm we have one day of good sleep one day of no sleep...sometimes she will self settle in her bassinette sometimes she wont sleep unless she is being held :wall: I know i shouldn't expect any routine yet but its kinda doing my head in. All that said we went to a party on saturday and she was an absolute gem slept the whole time just waking once for a bottle :clap:

My brother had a baby boy on friday...Jimmy, he is 8pd8oz and him and Milly are the same size. We have our 6 week check on monday im so looking forward to seeing how much she weighs.

Sorry for no persys again got to get ready mum is watching Milly today so i can go to the fun centre with Lucy for a play oh and pick up Millys hand and foot casts :dance:

hey girlies, hope everyone is going well!!

For the last couple of days we have been working on getting our day time naps sorted, which I think are coming along nicely (well he's down for a nap now anyway haha) Jacksons been sleeping well during the night again too, only waking up once last night for some tucker and going straight back to sleep... the night before last he was up from 1 til 3, in the end i gave up trying to get him back to sleep, so swaddled him up and put him in his cot and he ended up going to sleep on his own. I was super proud!

He's started smiling now too, he cracks up when you blow in his face. It's adorable!

Had morning tea with my first Mothers Group sesh today. Was so much fun to compare things with everyone and talk about births etc. There is another little one a week younger than Jacks which is good, too... they can sorta play together and be at the same level iykwim. Have another weigh in too today with the CHN and he's put on another 540 grams in 2 weeks, and grown another cm so super chuffed about that as well, although it's a little sad too, they grow up so fast... I can't believe it's been a month already!

Hi everyone, how are you all going? It's quiet in here I guess we r all busy with out bubbas :) we seem to be having better days with Madison but shebis still really unsettled in the evenings. This afternoon I nursed her for ages and when she finally went onto a deep sleep I put her down but she woke up 10 mins later, she seems to do this a lot and it is exhausting and very frustrating. DH has taken her for a walk in the baby bjorn now so I can have a break. Anyone got any tips on how to keep bubs asleep once u put them down? lol.

trace - Caroline is exactly the same and I am just beside myself!! thurs/fri last week i couldn't put her down without her cracking it. so i thought perhaps it's the 6 week growth spurt making her extra fussy. over the weekend she was perfect, put her in her bassinet and she fell asleep and had decent amounts of sleep each time, until Sunday night when she would not sleep in that bassinet for love nor money!! i tried for such a long time to just keep going in and patting her on the back to settle her but she'd only settle for about 10 minutes if that and then would be crying again. I ended up going to bed and DH was with her but he caved and ended up putting her on his chest where she slept for 45 minutes (apparently only lightly). I ended up getting up at 1.30am or thereabouts and fed her and put her to bed at 2.30am and she FINALLY gave in and went to sleep!! i waited til 3am to go to bed just to be sure she wasn't going to rip me out of any sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. She woke at 5am though for a feed and went back to bed. Today she's been better about going to bed but again tonight she's not wanting a bar of it. DH just went in to move her position and pat her back and noticed that she has peed all through her nappy and her wrap etc but while he went to prep the change table to change her she promptly fell asleep!! so we're back to square one because she woke of course when he changed her. I am hoping this passes VERY soon because it's exhausting. I'm not one for controlled crying while they are so little and get overwhelmed with all the conflicting advice from people. 1) you can't pick up a baby too much, 2) if you respond quickly they'll be less demanding overall; 3) you can't spoil a baby; 4) you can't let them sleep in your arms or on the boob because you're creating 'bad habits' ... the list goes on.

would also love some advice!! I don't remember my son being like this but it has been ten years after all!!

Teagz - how gorgeous are the smiles, they just melt your heart don't they. Zara smiles when i make a clicking noise or tickle under her chin :D

Tasha - GOOOO MILLY :cheer: what a trooper, i am not sure how big Z is but she is fitting her 000 suits and some that are meant to be 3/4 are actually 3/4, i NEVER had this with Ava everything was too big and A was still in 000 at about 4mths +

tracehb & illeyena - Zara does that aswell, atleast once a day she cluster feeds or is unsettled, i have found she LOVES her little swing though so sometimes i can get her to sleep in my arms and throw her in there but it doesn't last long.
This time round i am a little more relaxed i think i would NEVER have let Ava sleep in our bed (instead paced the halls and went without sleep myself getting her to settle) or let her sleep in the swing but this time i am not so worried, i let her sleep there then transfer her.
She still doesn't have a dummy so if she is unsettled at night i put her on a pillow and let her feed to sleep then transfer her into bed... it works and she hasn't gotten into a routine and doesn't do it every night.

AFM - i had a wonderful birthday on sunday with friends, family & my girls here for a bbq, got very spoilt with money towards my QLD w/end in under 2wks.
But stupid rego is due TODAY and i didn't realise so have to use my birthday money :doh:
Zara is going GREAT last night she fed at 10 and slept through til 4 then was up at 7, had a feed and a play and was back in bed just after 8 without any cuddling.
The girls had a bath together last night and Z is so relaxed and A loved trying to splash her... :rofl: i found it easier to bath them together, Z has a seat and i got Ava out first to dry and dress her so then she can walk off and then got Z out... was awesome.
i can't wait to get Z weighed next week

Ah Illey Im glad I am not the only one....its so exhausting isnt it. Someone on here mentioned the Wombie....not sure who it was but I bought a couple and put Maddie in one this afternoon and although she woke a couple of times and made a few little cries by the time I got to the door she had stopped and she has been asleep for about an hour now....although she hardly slept all day till then so not sure if the Wombie has magical powers or whether she was just exhausted....lol. I went to a sleep and settle class yesterday and unfortunately I dont think there is any magical answer for babies this young, it seems sometimes they will go to sleep nicely and other times they just wont no matter what we do. The thing I realised yesterday which has made me feel a lot better is that this is just what babies do and it is not because I am doing something wrong. I seriously was stressing myself out thinking I must be doing it all wrong but now that I realise others are having the same difficulties ( there was about 10 in our group yesterday all with similar issues) I feel much better.

Zarava, Happy Birthday....glad you had a great day....shame about the rego sucking up your birthday money. Hope you have a nice time away anyway.

Just popping in to say hi to you all!! Been very busy in my household. DD is one velcro baby! She is finally asleep in her basinette now but will wake shortly to start her marathon feeding sesh for the afternoon/evening. DS is now awake and needs to be fed and entertained so no time for persies just yet. Sounds like everyone is going really well from reading through the posts! :hug: to all!

Trace, we use a woombie. It does take some time for them to get used to it but DD2 seems to sleep ok in it. They can still move their arms and legs but apparently it mimics the womb. I have read great reviews on it before we purchased. Hope it works for you.
You're right though, it's what babies do. DD2 has a big unsettled period every evening. Feels like I am constantly feeding her. Every day gets us closer to when they are "better".

Hello everyone. When I had DD1 at the MCHN the other day for her checkup, I put DD2 on the scales and um with clothes and nappy on she weighed just over... um...... 5kg. I also got the tape measure out and measured her length the other day and she was 59cm. My god she cannot be that big in 6 weeks.....

Zarava- Like you I am more relaxed about what we do with DD2. I let her cry a little longer than I did with DD1 and are generally not as worked up by everything she does. Happy belated birthday too.

YAY go Millie on such an excellent gain.

I have an issue with DD2 only turning her head to one side. And fully turning to one side. She turns her head to the right when asleep and while on her back and tends to favour that side while upright. I try and turn it in her sleep to no avail. I have her head on the other side during tummy time. I do worry her neck muscles wont develop properly. Should I put a wedge in when she is sleeping, should I see someone or should I leave it and hope for the best?

Millie is smiling heaps now its so cute!! it kinda makes the fact that she has been so unsettled and out of sorts a bit easier :rolleyes:

we havent been doing much just staying home in the aircon...too hot outside for little bubbas.

jenjams+ Millie has a long head flat on both sides...the doctor gave me the proper name for it but i cant remember what it is, I just have to incourage her to move her head more when she is on the floor and stuff to stop her favouring one side.

trace - I saw pics of the wombie on fb, it looks great! I wish I had gotten one now. I figure it is too late at this stage but I wish I had heard of them before. I just wrap Josh up really tight but he often manages to get out.

Is everyone's bubs smiling now? I think Josh has a few times but I am not really sure. I find it hard to spend as much time with him as I would like as DD is so demanding, I think she is more trouble than him!

Party - the smiles are gorgeous aren't they?! Amelia is smiling lots now especially in her swing when DS stands next to her. we are also keeping indoors with the aircon. It's going to be 40 degrees today!

Bun, yep DD is smiling. I know what you mean about time and demanding toddlers. DS has been watching more TV than I'd like him too but thank goodness for ABC kids!

I can't believe Amelia is 8 weeks today! Must remember to take her picture with Bosley Bear to see how much she's grown!

Just put Darcey down for a sleep, and have read through everyone's posts.

Trace & Ilyena - yes, sometimes Darcey is the same. She can sleep very lightly during the day, and the only way to get her to sleep more deeply throughout the day is on my chest, or across my knees. Across the knees is actually a little more convenient, b/c at least I can use my hands to do something....like the thousand thank you cards for all the lovely cards, gifts etc that are still arrriving daily.

Darcey's sleeping patterns have got into a nice little routine. One thing I found that helped was to ignore everyone else giving me suggestions: keep her up more, only let her sleep when ....etc etc. Saying all that though, bathing her at night (somewhere between 8.30 and 9.30pm, just before that feed) has really helped. Last night, I fed her at 8pm, she had a play, and a sleep for around 45 mins, and then fed at 11pm, put to bed around 11.45pm. She woke up at 6.15am this morning! unbelievable! She was hungry, which was just as well, as it was a tale of two boobies. Normal, engorged, and OMG out of this world engorged, hadn't been emptied since 8pm, 10 hours prior.

Generally, she sleeps from around 11pm to 4/4.30am, then I feed her and put her straight back to bed again for another 3 hours of sleep. I feel pretty lucky so far.

She's also smiling and cooing a lot. When my Mum comes around, Darcey tells her stories, oohing and aahing and smiling. I can just imagine them in the years to come, thick as thieves. It makes my heart melt looking at them together, such a nice sight.

As for weight gain, well, she's finally hit the 4kg mark, she's now between 4.2 and 4.3kg, will have an update on Monday. I've had to retire some of her 00000 and 0000 clothes, but she's still some weeks off being into 000. It feels very satisfying to think that for 9 months, she was sustained by me, and now she is 6 weeks, 3 days old, and still fully sustained by me. I wouldn't say that bf'ing is 'enjoyable', b/c the nipples, engorged boobies, the first minute of her attachment etc are not fun, but the reward of seeing her develop and grow, plus the very close time with her, are certainly worth it.

Happy Birthday Leah. Sorry about the birthday money disappearing into payment of the rego. Bummer.

To all of you who have toddlers and older children, WOW! You must be 'Super Mums', I'm just getting by, looking after Darcey, DH, two dogs and myself (albeit with lots of help from DH). You mums must be exhausted right about now. So :clap: Well done, is all I can say, I really admire your strength.
