Party-of-five, I was given the bag thingy when DS was little and I had to get a sample, so I thought it was just a boy thing! LOL...will see what the doc says tomorrow.
Yep they are growing way too fast (although mine is still little weight wise, everything else she is doing is going to quick!).
Sorry can't do personals as on iPhone and can't remember who said what!
Ds2 is not rolling yet he has rolled back to tummy once but nit again! And ds1 has pushed him
Over a million times!!!!
No solids here yet, I am waiting till 6 months as I did with ds1, he is grabbing at stuff and watching!
Mchn we have appt booked for 6 months, saying that my centre is a bit different as in fact immunisstions are done during appt time!
Ds2 is still wrapped as he seems to need it to get to sleep but then fights arms out later! I hoped to gave stopped by now as kiddoptamous wraps getting too small!! Ds1 I stopped wrapping at 9 weeks and put in grobag!
Sorry girls just a quick one, i have 1 very sick little girl at home (Miss A) and have not been getting much time to myself unless it's VERY late at night, i am so buggered and now have a sore throat, ear ache and cough myself
Zara is having rafferty's garden in the morning and she LOVES it, opens her mouth for every spoon and even has a little chewing action going on.
She is having pumpkin for tea and tonight i will try some steamed broccoli (BLS), she sucked on some of Ava's pear the other day and ate a whole chunk so am thinking i might start giving her some fruit at lunch.
Last night she gummed 2 pizza crusts to death and loved them, she def LOVES food so time to expand i think.
On a good note she seems to be a bit happier, she has had a day or so where we are getting a 2hr nap which is a lot better than the 30min and last night she fed about 4, had a quick nap on the boob then was up again, had some pumpkin about 5:30 came for a drive with me to get pizza then had a feed and went to sleep no screaming night time is the worst here, she's so clingy and sooky and tries to stay awake for AGES.
She is feeding once a night again which is brilliant but getting up to A while she's sick counteracts it.
Z can roll from belly to back but hasn't from back to belly, she gets up on her side and kicks herself around with her feet, she has sat unaided a couple of times, about 5 secs and then flops onto a pillow.
Ava sat from 5mths and then didn't crawl until 10mths so i hope Zara doesn't follow in her footsteps. (so to speak)
Well better go, sorry to babble so much not sure when i will get another 5min to myself.
Hope everyone is well.. off to watch shark tales and have sick kid cuddles on the couch
.
just logged in to find lotsa messages to catch up on!!
before I forget, what is BLS???
Jen - we stopped wrapping ages ago when she went in to the sleeping bag when the weather first got cooler. Caroline can roll but usually doesn't bother. not sure why lol she's rolled both ways but when she's had enough of tummy time she puts her head on the floor and grizzles. doesn't occur to her that she can roll!! i'm curious about her weight gain since we started solids (and she loves it!!) we were booked in for a six month check up on thursday but have postponed til we are back from our road trip 2 weeks later. not sure if we are mental but we are driving up to brisbane (with plenty of stops along the way!!). hopefully she will sleep in all these strange places in her portacot and doesn't sleep all day while we're driving and therefore be up all night!!
she's still in 000's but just barely. will be packing the 00's for the trip though!
Hey everyone, sorry for being a stranger, life got really busy all of a sudden. I haven't had a chance to read back yet so I hope everyone is doing well. I'm looking forward to catching up again and seeing how all the lovely bubbas are growing up. Madison and I are doing great now. I started her on solids a week and half ago and it is quite fun.
Welcome Lisa and welcome back trace! Hello to everyone else!
Been a stressful week here as DD is still not gaining. Took her to the hospital and they basically said feeding 2-3 hourly is too often at her age and to top her up with formula and give solids 3 times a day. I was like WTF!?! She's not even 6 months old yet. They sent me home with a referral to a paed which we are going to on Friday. Poor little poppet was so brave when they stuck a needle in her arm, she even smiled at the nurse! So I don't know what's wrong just have to keep on going as we are and see what happens. All her boxes are ticked except for fatness so who knows!?!
Aww Eluned hun i hope the Paed has some constructive advice for you.
Z was feeding 2-3hrly BUT i have found that rice cereal in the morning is helping, she is generally going 3-4hrs after that, i am not giving her 'lunch' as such yet but am giving her pumpkin and potato for tea.
Did try the lazy option of apple & mango from a jar the other day but she didn't like it... which i don't mind, with A i hardly used tin foods so would prefer if Z is happy with my horrible home made cooking :-) she LOVES the rafferty's garden rice cereal though.
will do more personals a bit later... am laughing at Z who is laughing at A dancing and falling over... once i find all my cords etc will upload the vid to FB.. it's so damn cute!
Hi guys, Sorry I've been such a snob and not been in to say hi for so long but life for us basically turned upside down and we've been struggling to get back on our feet as quickly as humanly possible.
Daytona is doing really well - she has had 2 teeth through for a few weeks now (started teething at 2 mths) and I started letting her 'try' different foods from 4mths. I didn't expect her to want it as much as she did. She's having packet organic/ presertive free baby food cause if I try to cook her anything, she wont touch it and only gaggs even before you put it in her mouth. She will however scoff through what ever we are eating... fave being home made pea & ham soup. I had no intentions on starting her so soon but one day DH & I were sitting at a bakery, he got a cottage pie (with potato on top) DD on DH's lap, we both turned to look at something and was talking about it when I notined she was helping herself to the potato off the top of DH's pie.
Daytona is still not sleeping through again and she's developed this new thing where she wakes up during the night and wants to play.
She's only rolling over when she is in the bath (well trying to anyway ) but we stop her. I think she's only doing that cause she thinks it's naughty. but just in general (on dry land) wont roll. She gets around pushing herself on her back but just looks like a beached dolphin when she's on her tummy.
At her check up the other day, her head measured exactly average, length was very slightly under average and her weight was very slightly over average.
Anyway - speak of the little devil, she's just woken up so I'd better go. I'll try to have a bit of a read later & catch up but I don't get much time.
Oh and I've just recently found out I'm pregn again... quite scared but getting used to the idea now. any one else got children only a year appart? any advice on how to cope?
Congratulations Alicia! Thats great news! Daytona looks like such a cutie. My 2 are 2 years apart. It was very tough to begin with but they do get there. Sorry I cannot be more help.
We started rice cereal during the week and DD2 has taken to it ok. She doesn't open her mouth fully but she doesn't spit it out either. She loves chewing on the spoon when we give it to her. Ah well slow and steady for us. I will start introducing a veggie here or there in the next week or so. Another big advocate for Rafferty's garden food here. We used the cereal on DD1 when she was a baby and now they have an even bigger range of foods.
She still will not roll. I reckon she can do it if she put her mind to it. She rolled a couple times at 4 weeks and then at 2 months but nada now. Still not concerned though.
Still waking once a night for a feed and now she has decided that waking early like 6am is for her which I think is just lovely.....
Anyway our little ones are fast approaching 6 months. Where has the time gone?
Freya is doing well. She has ( as of about a week & 1/2 ago) figured she can roll from back to belly. Shes been going belly to back since about 3 months. So now she can roll, shes evrywhere! just rolls over and over across the room trying to follow the dogs. its so cute
She is having mashed vegies morning and night and loves it. I have given her potato, pumkin, brocolli, sweet potato, carrot, peach, pear, avacado, banana & she loves munching on a milk arrow root biscuit (makes such a mess)...but i am unsure what to give her next?
Dosent really sleep thru the night, but is easily resettled, but on the plus side she goes from 6pm to 8am without a feed, so its not like i have to get up to feed her makes up for it during the day but having a bottle every 3 hours or so. So shes having 4 x 200mls and 2 serves of solids per day, does this sound okay to everyone?
Daytime sleeps are still a big issue, she will only do 1/2 hour sleeps asmuch as i try to get her to go longer. She does 3 of these a day, and by the arvo shes just horribly tired any advice?
All in all shes so much better then what she was, lots more happy & settled and seems to be past the whole reflux thing now.
OH wow congratulations Alicia! No wonder you say your world has been turned upside down. I hope everything else is OK. Daytona sounds like she is going great guns.
Hi to everyone else. I am loving the weather in Sydney at the moment, its very cold but the sun is still shining which means so long as we rug up we can still go out for a walk, stops both Mum and bub going stir crazy I find.
Well Maddie has finally started sleeping through the night. Well I call it sleeping through the night anyway. She goes to bed anywhere between 6pm - 7pm, we wake her at 10pm for a feed and nappy change, back down at 11pm and then we dont go into her again until 6am- 7am the next morning. She will come into a light sleep sometime between 4am and 5am and will sometimes make a loud cry out noise or just grizzle for a few minutes (max has been 10mins) and then she goes back to sleep. I am so loving not getting out of bed in the night, especially now it is getting quite chilly, perfect timing me thinks. We did have to get rid of the dummy tho and we used the controlled crying method to do this which was a bit heartbreaking the first night when she cried for 2 hours but the next night was only 1 hour, then the 3rd night half an hour, by the 4th I dont think she even remembered what a dummy is. Now we just put her down to bed, say goodnight and walk out....she may grizzle for about 10mins, but most of the time will just go straight to sleep.
My next challenge is getting her to have her day time naps in her cot....she has been having them in her pusher in her room, I think she likes the darkness and cosiness in there during the day cause it is hard to block out all light coming in. In the pusher she will sleep for 3hrs or more if I let her but in the cot we are getting mixed times, sometimes an hour, sometimes two and yesterday only 20mins then she was hysterical screaming so I had to go in and get her up, I put her back down to sleep in her pusher and she slept for another 2 hours in there. I am quite happy with her sleeping in the pusher but she is getting a bit big for it and people keep telling me she will need to sleep in a cot when she goes to childcare so might as well get her used to it now. Does anyone have any thoughts/advice on this?
Well speak of the the little munchkin she has just woken up so better run, not bad, we got nearly 2 hrs today
Wow... seems everyone is self settling! Jackson likes his boobie before bed time. Probably my fault ><; It's a bit like a dummy I think. Thankfully tho he sleeps thru. Usually from about 8 to 6ish but it varies sometimes!
Still haven't started solids yet. I tried giving him some EBM on a spoon a couple of days ago but he just gagged and pulled a god awful face XD So maybe a couple of more weeks yet. Not in a hurry! The less I have to cart around with me the better!
He can still only roll from belly to back but he's soooo close going from back to belly it's not even funny. And my god, he can talk.
Everything is going pretty smooth sailing around here
Teagz, nah Amelia doesn't self settle either. We use the boob too lol and she comes into bed with me from around 10pm-ish that way I don't have to get up anyway
Well done trace on bub sleeping through. I reckon those hours are pretty awesome
Maddie has rolled from belly to back but she hardly ever does it anymore, she has not shown any signs of rolling from back to belly. She does lift her head off the ground when she is on her back though like she is trying to sit up, when she does it I say Mummy needs to do some situps too....but I never do.....lol. I sat her up on her own the other day and she lasted 9 seconds before toppling over but then when I tried it again the next day she just fell straight over. In some ways I like it that she cant move to much yet, so much easier to handle....lol.
