Bah!! Don't you hate it when you make a post and forget to back it up and you LOSE IT!

    Ok...

I have a situation. Last monday Jacks started solids and he was LOVING it. He was even lunging for the bowl inbetween mouth fulls, and now, for the last 4 or so days he HATES it. He won't open his mouth for anything, if I do manage to sneak a little bit of something in there he does this cough thing like you do when you taste something horrible, or he gags on it. This morning he even pushed the spoon away from himself with his hands. I have given him sweet potatoe (we started with this), pear, pumkin, rice cereal and rice cereal wih banana in it. I have tired it all mixed with breastmilk, water, at room temp, cold, warm, runny like gravy or like apple puree... nothing! I just can't get him back into it & I don't know why and it's driving me nuts.
Healthwise he is his normal happy little self, he has gotten his two bottom teeth in the last week but they haven't seemed to cause anything eventful. We've only had 2 bad nights in the last 2 weeks and occassionally he just needs a little panadol at night time before bed.
So, WWYD? Should I keep offering him different things until he finds something he likes, keep offering him the same stuff? Maybe only half a BF then offer slids then BF? Or just leave it for a few days and start all over again? I make all this pureed food and I'm literally just throwing it all straight back out again and it's driving me bonkers. I have a little boobaholic on my hands!!
    Sorry for the rant..
    ...again!

Hi all we are good! DS2 went to MCHN for immunisations and wg on friday was 7950 grams so up 1070 grams in 8 weeks!!!

Not excited by solids at all gags and spits back of vomits!!\

Teagz DS1 was just like yours, he started on solids loved it for a week to 10 days then started refusing and pushing away, I kept offering for a week but still refused, MCHN suggested I dont offer anything for 2 weeks (remember food is fun until they are 1). When I re introduced he loved it and took to it like a machine!!!!
    Both my boys are boobaholics!

    Good luck

Teagz - possibly a stupid question but how come you give him panadol before bed? I only ask because the last mabye 5 nights Caroline has woken more during the night usually just makes lots of 'chatting' noises for as long as 30 - 40 minutes sometimes and goes back to sleep (i usually only get up once to feed her when the chats become more err requests as such). I just wasn't sure if she was just being particularly chatty or if I'm a dummy and she's maybe trying to tell me something else and should be trying panadol also before bed?

Teagz - i agree maybe leave it for a week or two then try again.
Ava started solids just after 5mths, went well for a couple of weeks then refused food again until 8mths old.. i was beside myself worrying but when she did start again she never stopped.

my god.. I'm not drugging him up to sleep don't worry haha!! I find during the evening/night his teeth give him a bit of a hard time. He bites me and everything else and is a bit upset so I give him some to help with the pain. And he must need it because generally without fail he'll drop off 20 minutes afterwards, and I'm sure panadol doesn't make them drowsy, does it? I think if she needed anything she'd probably scream at you rather than have a talk. They don't generally ask for things nicely, mine doesn't anyway!

Teagz - sorry I wasn't meaning to say that you were drugging him to sleep!! I was mostly questioning my own judgement. My oldest is 10 years old so I have no memory of most things so it's like having my first all over again!! everyone keeps asking me if she's teething and I don't think she is just yet but they're all the know it alls lol.. so I just thought hmmm... maybe I'm missing something. Anyways, don't think I am coz she drools but no more than usual and doesn't bite on anything or have any other obvious signs and the gums aren't showing ANY indication of anything coming through.

Teagz, yeah I'd leave the solids for a week or so and try again later. He'l be getting all his nutrition requirements from your milk anyway. If you're comfortable with the idea, you could try him on some finger foods like soft cooked carrot, broccoli or toast or even just a rusk. He'll get the feel and texture of the foods and may be more into the solids when you start up again. Before we started solids with both kids, I used to give them a spoon to play with at meal times just so they would get used to the feel of it and it gives them a bit of control putting it in their mouths. When we started solids, they were used to having the spoon put in their mouth. Hope that all makes sense!

illey, if your DD is happily chatting away, she more than likely doesn't need any panadol. I get what you mean about remembering things. DS is only two and I've already forgotten some things! LOL...I'm guessing, if she's upset, in pain you will definitely know about it.

oh thats good, cos it could have come across that way LOL.
I would say - and this is just my opinion, because Jackson is my guinee pig baby - that she's just a chatterbox
