Preg - Yep you can freeze it. I do all the time

I give Eva nappy off time whilst I am bathing the older 2 girls. I leave her on the change table which is currently in my shower recess whilst I bath the girls. DH has set up a mobile over the change table so she loves it under there and kicks her little legs like not anything.

We were supposed to get Eva's needles yesterday but she now has a cold and has started coughing. I am starting to get worried about the cough it sounds a bit too chunky for my liking. She is not settling at all today and won't sleep because she is having trouble breathing.

thanks bekz - i will cut it into slices and freeze it for N - he loved it... (though as it was his bday yest he was more keen to have cake for dinner...)
snap on the cold and cough - poor little jacob's cold is prety bad this time. i am wondering whether i should take him to the dr - will see how tonight is. poor little guy. he fed every 90 mins last night, i think his throat was sore so he wanted the liquid. breaks your heart to see them unwell. he is so tired but not really able to have a good sleep today too...

Great ideas with the nappy free time, it has been a bit cold in Sydney so I haven't wanted Sam to get too cold but seeing as all the bubs seem to like it I am definately going to give it a go as well!

Also miss excited and Jess, the other tip I was given and maybe it was just me, but I was changing Sams nappy straight after a feed. I was told not to do this as tilting his legs up high in the air means the food just heads straight back up again! I normally change before a feed now or give it a good 20 minutes or so. I was lifting his legs up to clean his bum and that was probably causing the milk to not digest properly as well!!

Sam is only really still staying awake for about an hour, but I am seriously having to wake him every feed. I have woken him around 3 to 3 1/2 hours, sometimes 4 hours as I figure he would sleep for ages otherwise and then won't sleep at night, anyone else having to wake their babies most of the time. I don't like pushing it past 4 hours as it then concerns me he will get his days and nights mixed up. Hope this is alright, I do feel bad for interrupting his sleep. He was talking a lot today which was great. Just put him down for a nap which he wasn't very happy about, I think that he was a bit tired after pushing his legs and waving his arms for almost an hour! It must have tired him out!
Brekz and preag, hope the little ones are okay and their coughs aren't too bad. Get well soon bubs!

Wow it has been pretty quiet round here the last few days... thought I would pop in and say hello. Hope everyone is going well and our little bubba's are giving us lots of sleep!

I don't have too much news myself. Jetta I tried your tip of holding him at an angle when I feed him and also changing the nappy before the feed, but have had no relief on the spew front :wall: I think he must just over indulge and then bring up what he doesn't need, cos he certainly seems to spew up a lot... I know he's getting more than enough because he's getting chubbier and chubbier by the day and we have lots and lots of dirty nappies.

Speaking of nappies, what size are you guys using now. We went up to the infant ones (4 to 8kg) just over 3 weeks ago and they were working great, but the last couple of days he has had some big poos and some leaks. I was thinking of trying the next size up which is crawlers (5kg to 13kg I think) but I can't believe he would have grown out of the infant ones yet... The last time I had him weighed was 2 weeks ago and he was just a smigen under 5kg, so I can't imagine he would be anymore than 5.5kg now...

Miss Exicted - Sorry to hear that my tips didn't help! I know that their systems are still adjusting but I had hoped it would have helped you! I have been using the Infant nappies and find they are great. We tried babylove but as they go up to 11kgs they are way to big at the moment. Whatever holds in the poo and wee so you are not changing their clothes 3 times a day - go the bigger ones if it helps!

I agree it is very quiet around here, the tumble weeds are blowing in! I have had trouble with Sam the past few days getting to sleep, so perhaps everyone is having a rough few days.. Hope everyone is well. I had been trying to get SAm to stay awake a bit longer than an hour and I think that is why he has had so much trouble settling the last few days, so back to putting to bed in an hour and a small difference today.
Also, anyone who is expressing, roughly how much are you giving when giving a bottle of expressed milk? I have been averaging around 100ml but wondered if too much or too little?? Just wondered how much others were giving.

hi all anton had needles as well as his 4 yr old bro on wednesday my 4 yr old screamed the place down but was fine an hour afterwards as for anton he had me up till 5am i had to be up at 7 to get the girls until to kinda n daycare. i think anton is having a grouth spurt today he has been feedin every 30- 60 mn and has been very unsettled have just given him a top up feed of s26 gold he is now asleep now so hopefully he will sleep for a bit so i can catch up on housework

Things are good here with Grace, she is feeding every 2-3 hrs during the day with catnaps between but then has a feed at 6pm, 1am and then 5.30am so that is nice. Just feeling a bit blah at the moment so going to have an early night.

Grace has found that she can fit the most of one fist into her mouth, and she then sucks hard on it making lots of noise. She seems to enjoy doing it as she spits her dummy out and puts in her hand! Sometimes she misses her mouth and pushes her fist against her cheek or eye and then works it into her mouth, it is very cute to watch! Grace seems to have also worked out how to roll from her tummy to her back, both directions which is a bit bizzare to watch. I don't remember charli-girl doing that this early.... We're also getting lots of smiles and giggles which is cheering me up however the massive poo she did on me this morning was not a nice thing. She got my dressing gown, her change table, her sleeping bag, the floor, the wipes and her outfit. On the upside she seemed a lot happier afterwards!

it has been a bit quiet!

miss e - we've been using some aldi nappies that we were given as a present & we're in the next size up from NB. the leaks we were having have stopped since we changed up a size.

jetta - i'm not expressing but am planning to start soon to build up a stash for the freezer. if i was giving corey a bottle of EBM, i think i'd be trying to give him around 120ml but it may need to be more. i'm sure there's a thread somewhere i'll see if i can find it!

cat - i saw your FB status, sounds like a massive clean up operation!!

we had our first mother's group the other day...it was good to hear more storiesbout what other babies are up too!

corey is still catnapping during the day - esp if he isn't held. but his night sleeps are improving so i'm just going with the flow!

so much for sleeping during the night! Grace woke every 3 hours for a feed :( but she has just gone back to bed now, I hope this is just one of her wonder weeks...

Sarah good to hear the night sleeps are improving. Arlea goes through stages, I can't decide which I prefer - good night sleep or good day sleep so I can catch up too! Mothers group sounds good :)

Miss E we are using the next size up from newborn, both huggies & Aldi brand - I hear the Aldi ones are very good although so far I'm not seeing a huge difference, just that they are cheaper...I think when they are overflowing, can't hurt to go up a size?

Jetta the waay they work out how much milk to give is -
150ml per kilo per day.
So if they are for example 5kg it would be
5 x 150 = 750ml per day, you then divide that by the number of feeds per day.

It's really hard though when they are BF because you don't know how much they have had last feed....
Arlea never has her full quota, she only ever has around 100ml at most, and she's only done that 2 or 3 times - usually she will have about 80 - 90 ml every 3 hours - when she feeds 3 hourly that is - quite often it's more like 50 ml every hour & a half :doh:
So I don't know if any of that helps!
Maybe if Sam is having the full 100ml I would try giving a bit more, keep topping it up by 10 ml until he stops emptying the bottle, then you'll have a bit of an idea how much he needs? Hope that is some help anyway :)

Bek I guess Eva is feeling better if she got her needles yesterday? How did you go last night? Hope she settled well for you.

AFM we are chugging along as usual, still not a lot of progress on the BFing front, we are trying a supply line now & I feel satisfied that when I do stop trying to BF we will have tried everything. I will continue to express as long as I can, aiming for at least 6 months. So I feel better that we have a plan.
A is doing great... not stacking on the weight but doing ok, smiling & starting to 'talk' which is so cute... her brothers & sister thing she is just adorable, she is going to have them all wrapped around her finger :lol:
She had her needles yesterday & seems to be coping fine...oh & we saw a different GP for her check before vax, & she thinks A has a clicky hip & has written a referral for USScan. Weird cause she has been looked over 4 times in 2 weeks, all by different people & this is the first anyone has mentioned of it? :dunno: but it can't hurt to get it checked, we will see.

Thanks for the advice re the nappies girls, so far we haven't had another one since I posted so I'm hoping it was just a couple of days of big poos! If we keep getting though I think I will have to try the next size up...

Jetta, when I give Ash EBM I give him about 140ml, but only because he cries if he gets any less, but he is a guzzle guts, probably why he spews so much, mind you he usually doesn't spew as much after a bottle... I'd give Jasp's advice a go, but I tend to think that Sam will let you know when he wants more, Ash certainly did!

I wouldn't worry too much Ryatha, I'm sure Grace will get back on track with the sleeping soon. I find Ash is a bit like that, we'll get one really long night sleep, but then he'll revert back for a couple of days before doing it again, it's like he's working up to being able to do it all the time. But last night we did go 8 hours between feeds and the night before he went 7, so maybe he is getting there... who knows, I'm sure tonight will be another story...

Glad to hear your mothers group went well Sarah, I'm also really enjoying mine and finding that we are getting some really good advice. The first one or two were a little bland, but this week it was on what to do if your baby gets sick and I found the info fantastic! Next week the MCHN who runs it is away so we are going to meet up for a coffee instead, hopefully we'll be able to get to know each other a bit better...

AFM we're tracking along pretty well. I took Ash down the beach for the first time this week. The weather has been so nice here that I have been taking advantage of the opportunity to get out and have a good walk. Anyway, one day when I got down there he was still awake, so I got him out of the pram a laid him on the sand. He really seemed to like being out in the fresh air (this really was his first experience of the outdoors) but was blinded by the sun. So this morning DH and I went and bought him the cutest pair of sunglasses and and a sun hat. Of course the weather turned to crap so we didn't get to take him out, but hopefully we'll get a chance tomorrow. I also just left Ash with DH for the first time since he was born. I decided that it was time to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure which was absolutely lovely, but I did find it a bit hard leaving the little man behind... Silly I know...

Miss Excited - well done on getting out! That must have been great! Good on you, it is hard leaving them. I have only managed going to the local shops and doing some grocery shopping!! I have had to leave him with my mum and I send her text messages frequently! Thanks for the advice on the EBM and feeding. I have been giving around 100-125mls so I think that is about right! I hope it stops spewing up soon! I had a friend who gave me her baby bjorn as she said her first child just spewed all the time so they never used it! I must invest in some sun glasses too, he hates the sun. Got him a cute hat the other day though!

Jasp - thanks heaps for the advice on the EBM. That is a great help and certainly gives me a good gauge on what I should give him! I agree, you have no idea what they get when you are feeding off the breast. You are a legend with the expressing. I think you are doing great, and so fantastic that you are sticking at trying - you cant say you didn't try and you should be really proud of yourself.

Ryatha - Sam has been a bit the same, usually goes from 10pm til 4/5am but last two nights has woken at 2.30am again and then again at 5am! Very annoying! I thought it might be because he was unwrapping himself but I tried one of those wraps with the velcro and he still woke up!! Must be a stage!

Sloane- glad to hear the night sleeps are improving. I feel so lucky that from day 1 Sam always sleeps well at night.

Jess- Sam has been feeding a bit randomly lately and I wondered if he was having a growth spurt as well. Hope you got some housework done. I had husband at home today so was great getting stuff done around the house.

AFM - As mentioned Sam waking again at 2am again but hopefully that won't last for much longer! I feed him at 10pm to try to keep him going through til at least 6am but so far only making it til 4am. We will see. Also the last 3 baths he has had, after he gets out of the bath he goes absoltely balistic. We have never heard him cry like that, to the point he is actually hesterical and I have to give him a top up just to calm him down. he didn't even cry like that when he was born! I don't know whether it just doesn't want to get out or what the story is. My husband use to love bath time as he gave him a massage afterwards and not even that settles him. It is a shame because in the evning that was their bonding time and now we are scared of giving him a bath!! Hopefully it is just a stage but wondered if anyone else is doing that??
Settled himself to sleep 2 sleeps today, last week was terrible he wouldn't settle at all and was napping for an hour, had two days of only 2 hours the whole day and by evening he was a mess. hopefully this week is better!!
Very smoky today as they are backburning somewhere! be good if somehow we could put some pictures up, it would be nice to know what you all look like! Enjoy the sunshine!

well i got anton settled a bit well long enough to tidy kitchen dinning n lounge i even got the floors swept n vac i just have to cleaned the 2 kids bedrooms but im hoping their dad will take the 3 older ones for a night or 2

it seems like forever since I've been online - so much to catch up on, and no chance of me being able to do personals!

We've been doing lots of rearranging - moving furniture around into different rooms, a bit of painting etc, so the computer has been disconnected for a while...

We're going well. DH's sister had her first bubba last Friday - a little boy cousin for my little darling! Very exciting.

Mothers' group is going well - got one this arvo. The only thing is that Zac doesn't sleep while we're there and then gets over tired... :doh: and lately (just when I was getting the hang of putting him down when he'd been up for an hour and a half, he seems to be stretching his awake time to two hours! aargh. I don't think it's helped that my script for motilium had run out. The Dr suggested I try going without to see if it made a difference - and it did, unfortunately. Got a new script, and we seem to be back to where we were again. He's still getting about 2/3 of his feed from formula, but that's ok. :-)

My DH went away for two nights last week too - I was a bit freaked out, but it went fine. I think it's more the knowledge that someone is there to help if you need it? However, when he came back he said he would be going away again in about 6 weeks - for TWO weeks! We're planning on going with him this time! ;-)

re nappies - Zac has been in the infant Huggies since he got to just over 4kg. There have been some poos which have definitely been borderline on the containment side of things... my problem is more that I'm a little too responsive to a smelly nappy, so most of the time it's me doing the 'fielding' and not the nappy :rolleyes:

Sorry to have been MIA.
We have been having a rough run of it and I have been burying my head in the sand and not wanting to admit it.
I really haven't been coping...
Teaghan has sensitive skin issues and for the last 9 weeks we have been battling dry, itchy and irrating skin rashes and eczema. Everything the doctors said to use made it all so much worse. Olive oil helped for about 48 hrs but even that wasn't enough. I finally tried Moogoo - omg, my saviour! It has cleared up her skin and you wouldn't even know she had had issues!!! Thank god...
But it seems as soon as I sort one problem out another arises.
We have been dealing with a wonder week for 3 weeks now! The MCHN said they can do it when they have a big developement spurt. Yay, she wouldn't have more than 1 to 2 thirds of her bottle and would be hungry 2 hrs later. She stopped sleeping through the night as well. So we tried changing her formula and her bottles - we were using Mam ultivent but now were using the closer to nature range. Finally she is drinking and feeding better and going longer between bottles and is back to having her last bottle at 11pm and lasting till 6am... And it was both the formula and bottles. We tried both together and she was happy. Gave new formula in old bottle and wouldn't drink it. Gave old formula in new bottle and wouldn't drink it. But new formula and new bottles = success!! Phewww!
I have also spent the last 9 weeks doing the single mum thing because DF has been suffering depression and hasn't helped at all. I think in 11 weeks he has fed Teaghan 2 times and changed her nappy 3 times. We had a big talk Friday night and this weekend he has been so much better - I just hope it lasts... Sigh...

I've been a lurker and have found the time to jump in and say Hi ! I've been in the LTTC forum for a while and our IVF blessing, Nate, was born on July 8th.

Sorry for not getting all the personals done but I do empathize with MisBec as we are going through the same thing with Nate. The last 2 weeks have been a bit confusing with Nate going from sleeping and settling like a champ to not sleeping and being very difficult to settle. I have no idea what is going on but he had a big growth spurt about 10 days ago and has just not been himself.

Has anyone else had this kind of regression around 10 - 11 weeks and did things get better or back to what they were before?

Also, what is a 'wonder' week?

Look forward to getting to know everyone.
