Gosh it's been so long since I was in here! Running your own business seems to take up all your time....
A big happy birthday to our baby's! I can't believe it has gone so fast...
Hi everyone! I wrote a long post this morning and then my computer crashed and I lost it all By looks of things everyone has been really busy chasing after their toddlers (can you believe they're really toddlers, where has the time gone?).
We've been on the illness merry-go-round for the last month since Ash started child care. It's been one thing after another, we've literally been to the doctor once a week for the last 4 weeks and even went 3 times last week The poor little thing has pretty much had a permanent cold (all those lovely germs they share there) which has led to 2 ear infections and conjunctivitis. He's on the mend at the moment, but still has a nasty cough which I'm hoping will clear up before he finishes his AB's, otherwise it will be back to the GP...
But on the flip slide, he's really starting to enjoy his time there, which is a huge relief. The carers are saying that you can see that he's having fun now rather than just passing the time and his development is coming along in leaps and bounds now that he's copying the other kids all the time. I've also been enjoying being back at work which is good, even though it's only one day a week I'm there it makes me cherish my time at home with Ash even more which can only be a good thing.
Anyway, gotta run before I burn our dinner. Would love to hear how everyone and their LO's are doing x
Sorry I hardly every get to come in here anymore Happy birthday to everyone that I missed and I am so glad to read that everyone is doing well
So a bit of an update. Thank you for the birthday wishes. Grace had a lovely birthday and family birthday party but came down that night with Croup. It was horrible and she was so bad for about a week, got better and then got worse again. She seems to be past the worst of it now though. All I can say is thank goodness it was school holidays so we could be home with her the whole time.
Along with the croup Grace broke her teething necklace, and then two days later cut her first two teeth but it is fixed now and her top two teeth are just about to cut now, so finally she'll be able to bite things poperly We also had a milestone today. Grace has been walking holding our hands for months and I have been getting a bit stressed about her not walking on her own but last night we were out with a baby the same age who was walking so I told her 'look at that baby, she can walk, how about you try too' so she did I was so proud. She spent the rest of the evening following the baby around. Then this afternoon she walked to me at daycare and then used her walker, then walked away from it so happy
Grace started daycare, 4 days a week, and love it. The carers said she is such an easy baby and so happy all the time. I'm so glad she is doing well but I still wish I was home with her more often. Ok, Lumpy is wanting cuddles so I'll hope to read how you are all going soon
for poor Ash, hope he is better soon! Just think of all the immunity he is building though...lol.
We've changed playgroups, going to one which is much nicer and not so chaotic.
Hayley is turning into such a funny little thing...she knows a few noises that animals make- "ooh ooh ahh ahh" for a monkey, for an elephant she sticks her arm straight up in the air (like it's a trunk), growls for a tiger, "uhh uhh" for a dog barking, and "uck uck" for a duck. It's so funny! She now knows when to make the "quack quack" when we sing 5 Little Ducks (when the mother duck quacks). And this afternoon she pinched a packet of shortbread cream biscuits off the table, pulled the biscuits out and stuffed one in her mouth not what I would have wanted her to eat, but I wasn't going to take it off her cause that would only end in tears! I'm sure one won't hurt her. Lol.
We "interviewed" a baby sitter today, DF wanted to go to a show on Friday night, but he didn't like the babysitter (I thought she was fine!) so I dunno what is going to happen now...i was looking forward to a night out without a baby attached that's a whole other thread though!
Better go, someone needs to have a bottle & go to bed...DF was supposed to be taking her for a bit so I could finish cleaning up the kitchen, guess that isn't going to be happening now
hi everyone. i havent been on here for so long. hope everyone enjoyed their little ones 1st bday. Anton is is growning into a big boy already in size 2 clothes but is lazy too he still isnt crawling he just rolls all over the place. at the min im getting ready to move and im also got another bundle of joy on the way due on 1 feb 2011
Congraulations Jess! Good luck with the move, you must have your hands full!
It's been a while since I posted ...
I am working 4 days, Pie is still at FDC two days but has started long daycare the other two - and I freakin HATE it
I will give it a few weeks & then I think we will reassess just how much we need my income. We originally thought we needed it but I am wondering if we can make a few cutbacks, or I might look for another job we will see.
hope everyone is well, it's just amazing seeing all these babies grow up so fast!
in a bit of a rush so i won't do personals, but i promise to keep more up to date from now on!!
i can't believe all our babies are 1 now. and then it got to be 13 months so quickly. it sort of seems as though i spent so much time focussing on the first year that now time is just flying past!
corey started walking a few weeks ago. he still crawls but chooses to walk probably 75% of the time now. he still gets pretty upset if i leave the room - i'm not sure when to expect this phase to stop? i know he's still small - i have it in my head that the sep anxiety starts to slow at 18 months?
his sleeping is still horrendous. joys! but i've started seeing a personal trainer to try & get fit & lose some weight because i figured no point putting life on hold till he sleeps better- because at this stage it doesn't seem like it will ever happen
hope everyone & their bubs are well let's get this thread back on the first page!!
hi all
another 'not very often poster' LOL! i keep meaning to get in here and post but i dont get much time to myself... i do read and see how you all are going. congrats Jess! wow a full load for you! tonight i have some time DH is away for work and DS1 is at the gparents so it is just me and J at home. feels relaxing!!!
J is doing great, crawling well, lots of cruising... i think he is still a way off walking... lots of babbling and actions like doing stars for twinkle twinkle - SO CUTE! his sleep is a bit better than it was and we are not feeding onight at all unless he is sick
i am also tryong to get back intoshape - joined the gym a few weeks back and so far been quite motivated... havent lost any weightbut think i have lost cms maybe and i am def feeling fitter, prob need to control food a bit better
anyway will try to keep up a bit better and then personals will be a bit more meaningful; xxx
Hi all,
I wont do personals because there's just too much to catch up on! As others have said I keep meaning to come in too, I'm flat out trying to keep up with the new posts in general (my phone is soo slow ). I have been reading though.
Congrats Jess hope you have a h&h 9 months.
AFU nothing much has changed. DS is becoming very vocal. Everyone is "Daddad" although he knows who Dad is if you ask him he still refers to everyone else as dad too. Lol. He says car ("ca") and sometimes dog ("dgn" - like diggin without the vowels lol).
He's been pushing up into a standing position from the floor a fair bit but never actually stands he kind of leans forwards and holds his balance for a minute then falls forward again. ITMS?
He's slowly learning the actions to a few songs although very rarely does them- twinkle twinkle, he knows the open and closing of hands an kiss blowing parts of open shut them, screams at the appropriate moments for row, row, row your boat and claps for clap, clap, clap your hands.
He's pretty quick at doing laps of the coffee table these days. I should count them one day he just goes round and round for ages and thinks it's hilarious. Along with alot of other random things lately, he's been laughing so much at anything and everything, he has the kind of laugh where you cant help but laugh too which makes him laugh more, which in turn makes us laugh again because he has no idea what he's laughing at. it just goes on and on...
He's started crawling around in circles doing seemingly aimless and definately pointless laps of objects in the room and back and forth repeatedly over things- ripped up pieces of news paper, the mat that goes under his high chair, a doormat in an office the other day, a ramp at the doctors today... Why? I have no idea but apparently it's very funny because he laughs the whole time.
I guess he is doing more new stuff than I thought- unless I already told you all this already lol.
We've been going ok, although I'm starting to get really sick of the 'groundhog day' feeling..not even weekends are different Trouble is there isn't much to do around here, especially if it's yucky weather which it has been most days lately. Bring on sunny spring days! I'm hoping things might get a little easier when she starts walking, which I know won't be for a while yet but it's keeping me going..lol.
Hayley has been so cranky the last couple of days..I've been getting cranky back at her which I know doesn't help but I feel like I'll explode otherwise Not sure if it's to do with her teeth or not (her fifth tooth, an eye tooth has just come through and the other top one isn't far away), as she can be quite happy and nice when she wants to be, when she doesn't or things don't go the way she wants she chucks a tantrum, so maybe it's just the stage she is at. It's very tiring though!
She's learnt a few new things, she puts her hands on her head at the start of head, shoulders, knees & toes which is quite funny to watch. She's started wanting to walk holding our hands. My back is so sore tonight because we did a few laps of the house, in and out of the kitchen, down the hallway and into the spare room...I don't think she wanted to go anywhere in particular she just wanted to walk! I guess it gives them a whole different perspective than from crawling around on the ground.
I think that's about it...hope everyone is going well!
Hey ss I know what you mean about groundhog day. It's the same here, the only difference is that on weekends MIL is here to irritate me too.
are you still going to the new playgroup you liked? Sorry if I missed something.
Isaac's new words:
- "guck" (truck)
- "ochk" (sock)- only said this once though.
- "go!" (when I say "ready set...", and often when I dont lol)
- "do" like in doctor (for dog instead of dgn)
- "goh" (gone) along with hand actions. Soo cute!
He also knows where his nose is, which talking about ALWAYS results in a deep excavation exercise . He also knows head when he's not too busy sticking his finger as far up his nose, as possible. he knows where our eyes are and likes trying to claw them out but refuses to point to his own.
That's all I can think of for now, sorry if it sounds like I'm showing him off, I'm just so proud, not to mention REALLY relieved that he knows all this stuff! It's so nice to not be stressing every 5 mins about whether or not he's developing "normally" *big sigh of relief*
Wow Heva, that's an awesome list of words! I thought we had 'dog' the other day (dod) but it hasnt' been repeated so
Lots of mum & dad still but in a babling way... although I think she knows who people are, if you ask her to take something to mum or dad or savvy (DD1) she will do it.
Storm IKWYM, she has become a real toddler, horrible to take out to the shops as she just wants to walk around. It's ok if you have an extra person to follow her, but I can't get anything done on my own! Lol at the head & shouldres, that must be so cute
Hello everyone, I'm not sure if I've posted in here before, if not then Hi I'm Kezzabird mum to twins Jennifer and Suzanna born 9th July 09, I was in the Belly buddies thread, but not really been on here much since, I've been soooooo busy!!!!
Loving every minute of it though, the girls are amazing and make me laugh every day, they are so cheeky and get up to mischief as soon as my back is turned. They aren't walking yet, but are up on all fours crawling and pulling themselves up. Jennifer has started to say a few words, but Suzanna just babbles. I'm sure she is talking in her own little way
Anyway, I will try and pop in every now and then to see how you are all going, I still find it hard to believe that they are 13 months old I'm sure you guys feel the same.
heva - what a clever little man! and so you should be proud, isaac sounds like he's going great guns!
ss_storm - how are you going? i get the groundhog day thing sometimes too. i think the walking does help - i've noticed that corey is just that bit more inclined to do his own thing now. even if it does mean that he's emptying a cupboard in the kitchen & wandering around the house with a wooden spoon
kezzabird - it's great to hear from you! i'm sure you've posted once or twice before but not for ages so it's awesome to hear how your girls are going
afm, something finally clicked in my brain (bit of a slow learner ) - we took DS to the footy yesterday & we were in a bar/food area and he was desperate to walk over to a mum who had her crawling baby on the floor. she said she was happy for him to come over so he walks over & goes straight to give the mum a hug. he is just so affectionate. it takes me longer than it should to do the grocery shopping because he's playing hide & seek with other shoppers or they're talking to him etc. i was thinking how much i love his affectionate nature & how social he is. then i realised that it's probably the same character traits that make him wake up so often overnight & can make him a very cuddly (i.e. clingy!) baby...so you take the bad (well, not bad but less desirable!!) with the good. argh, i hope that makes sense!
annnyways...he's on the go all the time now & other than the mum & dad words/sounds, his first word is "more" he still likes his food!
naww Sloane I think that's gorgeous! What a lovely snuggly boy I love grocery shopping atm cause she is just so damn cute! Except when she pulls all the price tags off the shelf! We're trying to teach Hayley to kiss atm, we say "kiss kiss" then make a kissing noise. DF got her doing it and kissing his face, but then he came out to show me and she wouldn't do anything! Lol.
Heather- Isaac knows heaps! What a clever boy Yeah we're still going to the playgroup, there aren't any others around so I don't want to leave and then not have anything It's not too bad, but I still feel like I don't really fit in...I just don't have/can't think of anything to say to them I guess it's a bit harder in that most of the kids are 2+ so can't really talk baby/young toddler stuff with them..
Fleur- are you still expressing for Pie? You've done such an awesome job, you should be so proud of yourself! Aren't the tantrums awful! DD chucked one in Officeworks last week, I was looking at archive boxes and think she wanted to get down as she was leaning down and starting to get whingy. so I put her on the ground and she just threw herself face down and started screaming...I just grabbed a pack of the boxes and raced out as fast as I could
Today was a bit better, probably helped by the fact it took the majority of the morning to have brekky, have a shower and get dressed etc...we're a bit slow some mornings! And that was even with Hayley waking up at 6.30. Lol! She had a ball looking through the Petbarn catalogue today, gooing and gahing at all the photos of the animals in it. She was flicking back and forth through it for about half an hour! Have stuck some photos on the fridge for her to look at too, she loves playing with the magnets but I haven't been able to find any proper magnets for kids that are 'safe' for under 3's. Have a couple of pics of our dog, one of her & the dog sitting on a picnic rug and one of me & her, she loves pointing at everyone, and going "woof woof" at the dog. She can also say moo for a cow, although it's more like ooooo.
Yep still pumping
i'm actually trying to wean now, I have finally had enough of the pump Arlea isn't that fussed on anything but breast milk, so I am mixing it with cow's milk trying to get her used to it gradually. I think it's working
Great work Fleur! You won't know yourself not having to drag a pump with you everywhere you go
Hayley is almost on straight cow's milk now, down to one scoop of formula now and should only have a few scoops left in the tin. Once that's gone, that is it!
Well we've had a busy end to the week...Hayley started clapping properly today! She did a little clap yesterday when she was on her changetable and I raced her out so she could show daddy but do you think she would do it again! But tonight we had clapping on request so I think she's got it now. I thought she was never going to do it! Even got it on video
She also had a few seconds this afternoon standing all by herself. I was on the phone to mum, sitting on the floor and Hayley was standing up behind me. I could feel her holding onto me but every so often she would let go then grab back onto me again. I turned around to see what she was doing and she was there with her knees bent standing up without holding onto anything! Then she grabbed my free hand and started walking off..lol. Didn't last long though because she got so out of balance she was practically swinging around with the arm i had hold of and eventually plonked onto the floor. She didn't even hit the floor hard, there was no bang but she burst into tears anyway
All she's been wanting to do lately is walk holding our hands, so a bit more practice and she will be off! Half the time she doesn't even know where she wants to go though and takes two steps forwards then quickly turns around and takes a few steps the other way, then turns around again...lol
She's learned a new animal noise. DF taught her the "bok bok bok" for a chicken, sounds more like a sheep going ba ba ba though. She's also saying something that sounds like "who's that". We say "who's that" to her when we're looking in the mirror, or looking at photos we have on the fridge so I think she might have picked up on that. She yelled it out when DF was on the phone the other day, was so funny we both cracked up laughing! SOunds kinda like "oo da", so I don't know if she is trying to say "who's that" or I'm making it out to be more than it is
