    Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies
    Serves: 6 dozen cookies
    Preparation time: 15 minutes

    Ingredients:
    * 1 cup butter or marg
    * 1 cup sugar
    * 1 cup brown sugar
    * 4 tablespoons water
    * 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal (can be found at any local health food store)
    * 2 large eggs
    * 1 teaspoon vanilla
    * 2 cups flour
    * 1 teaspoon baking soda
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
    * 1 cup or more chocolate chips
    * 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous) (IT MUST BE BREWERS YEAST, NO SUBSTITUTIONS)

    Directions:
    * Preheat oven at 375 degrees F.
    * Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes.
    * Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended.
    * Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips.
    * Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.
    * Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.

    thanks!

    After a restless morning Amelia is finally sleeping yaye! I really hope she has put on at least 90g when she gets weighed tomorrow, she is taking smaller formula top ups (only 25ml this morning!) and I would like to stop them altogether and just express if possible.

    Hey girls

    Congrats to those who have joined us since my last post!!

    Baby09 - Are you using a bottle or a syringe for the top-ups? If you are using a bottle, try using a syringe. It takes longer but she is less likely to overflow or get gas than with a bottle, which means most of it will stay down unless she is really full. What she spits out will be when she is full.

    Sally - I considered making the cookies, but I dont think I need to increase my supply at the moment, Leah is doing a good enough job of that with 2 hourly feeds around the clock when she has a growth spurt. Maybe when I decide to do some expressed feeds (I do have a decent freezer supply at the moment though) from a cup.

    I'm not looking at the clock for overnight feeds now. If I do it makes me feel more tired. I doze through the night feeds anyway, have woken up to her feeding when DH gets up for work!! She feeds at least twice overnight though so I know it must be 4 hourly or less. When she was weighed on Monday she was 3590g so I am not worried about her getting enough milk now!!

    We have her 1 month birthday today!! I cant believe how fast that has gone!! And happy one month to everyone else over the next 2 weeks!!

    Baby09, yay for Amelia! I have fingers crossed for a nice little weight gain for you.

    Ali, Cant believe she's a month old already! Although Tristan is only a few days off... Scary stuff!

    I have a supply of expressed milk in my freezer too. It's comforting to know I have some back-up especially with all the hard work to get my supply going and keeping it up.

    hi girls. Have just come over to this group. I have a son, Noah, born 23rd of June weighing 4.5 kilos. He's just gorgeous and I can't believe he's 3 weeks old already. So far he's been pretty good although we've had issues with breast feeding. my nipples are too cracked and sore for me to feed Noah, so I'm expressing and bottle feeding my little man. He is now starting his 3 week growth spurt I think and ?I'm having trouble keeping up with him. Apart from that it's pretty good.

    Congrats to all. im looking forward to sharing this journey with u.

    Hi Tara and congrats! Noah was a great size This is going to seem stupid, seeing how I'm a 2nd time mum... but whats the 3-week growth spurt? Is it something all bubs have?

    Brendan (my first) was born prematurely so I missed out on a lot of this early stuff. Tristan was still prem, but at least I am able to experience this early stuff

    Hi Tara - congrats and welcome

    Ali - we are bottle feeding the top ups, the syringe sounds like a good idea as she seems to have a problem with gas and also doesn't like to burp after feeds.

    We just got back from our weigh-in and she has put on 255g!!!!! I am so happy - she's now 3.385kg and heavier than her birth weight.

    Hi Sally.

    Apparently round the 3 week mark and again round the 6 week mark babies go through a growth spurt and go on a feeding frenzy. Well according to the mid wife at my antenatal classes anyways

    Noah had his first visit from the child health nurse today. He now weighs 5.17 kilos. That's a whopping 600 grams more than when he came home from the hospital!!! I have a fatty She has also arranged for me to go and see someone tomorrow from breastfeeding support so hopefully we can start to re-introduce Noah to breastfeeding and get things sorted out for him. I'm glad to be going and seeing her as it's a little cheaper than the lactation consultant.

    Anyway's better go, need to express before I loose all this milk over my shirt

    Baby09 Thats awesome news

    Tara, thanks for that.

    I was hoping to get Tristan weighed at the chemist today, but they've changed the day they do babies on to Tuesday now(which is no good for me). I'll just have to wait until his 6 week check now.

    Tristan is 4 weeks old tomorrow the time is going far too quickly!

    well I hope everyone is going well. Noah is doing pretty well and we're all settling in. Jeremy goes back to work tomorrow so it'll just be Noah and I during the day from now on.

    Hi Girls

    Congratulations to everyone After lurking on BB throughout my whole pregnancy, I thought it was about time I started being more active!
    So it seems I belong in this group...Miss Sophie arrived on the 20th of June (5 days after EDD), weighing 6lb 1oz. Her birth was a bit more of a drama than I anticipated, but nothing too serious.
    Ok, introduction out of the way, looking forward to hanging out with you all lol.

    Tara - I've been on my own for about 2 1/2 weeks now, my DH took a week paternity leave while I was in hospital and then had a couple of days at home the following week but spent most of it working. I think I've only now gotten used to it just being Amelia and I.

    Erin - welcome to our group!

    Amelia is 1 month old today, it is really flying by! She was restless again last night and has been feeding a LOT the past few days - hopefully we are in the midst of a big growth spurt!

    Is anyone braving the Target Toy Sale? My parents are coming up on Saturday and they've offered to look after Amelia for a few hours so DH & I can go without having to worry about her.

    Hope all the mums and bubs are doing well
