poopie: wow 7 hours is alright. Vic *i think* is up every 4 hours over night..but he's on and off all night - he's cottoned on to attaching while laying down lol as for sleeping though at 6 weeks. pfft. some old wives tales just wont DIE! sure some kiddletts do. but most sadly dont. they'll do it when they're ready.

AFM: weekend didn't end up as busy - DH's mate didn't come over - had a mates birthday party to go to. so DH worked on his old car (photos of it are on FB lol) and i just tinkered around the house. today we're heading off to see my dads sister and mother - they live an hour and a half away so it's a good drive. and next weekend we had off for our first family holiday as a family of 4! teehee which will be lovely. aaaaaand yeah. so i better go pack the nappy bags - we have two. one for DJ and one for Vic - until the baby bonus comes in and i can get a big one for both boys. my boobs haven't gotten engorged since the other day so im thinking my milk has settled down. but i still let down on the other side to which vic is feeding, which if i forget boobie pads...i can look like i've fallen face first into a puddle 0_o
I had a lovely morning catching up with my bestie who has a 3 week old baby boy. We've been friends for 25 years (!!!) and are so excited to both have boys who will be able to grow up and play together. Very exciting
Other than that, this week I'm going to a sleep and settling class on Wednesday... and tomorrow we've got all the vaccinations, paediatrician appointment and my 6 weekly checkup with my ob.
Lachlan is getting so so strong. He's pushing up on his legs alot and he has great neck and head control. And he's now into the infant sized nappies (no more newborn sizes!) so I gave the rest of my newborn nappy stash to my bestie today. My little man is growing so fast! He's now nearly 6kg and has grown 7cm in 7 weeks!
erica: wow that is some fast growing! how big was he when he was born? Chloe is at 4.6kg now and has grown 5cm in 7 weeks and i thought she was a chubba! thank you for your thoughts she is doing well at the moment, we go back to the specialist end of the month so will find out then what we will need to do, for now she looks like a normal an happy girl no signs of any issues.

I have my onesie issue sorted - apparently Kmart sells onesies at $6 normal priced, so that was easy. Other half said all the stores were full of summer clothes and the winter stuff is either running out or gone. Too bad if you need cold weather clothes NOW, eh?
I have no idea what the lump weighs. He was 4.1kg at 3 weeks and his clothes fit much better back then. The 0000 stuff he's in now is leaving seam marks on his chubby legs.
In other news, my toddler has worked out how to open the fridge and ate almost all the cheese. And she managed to break my partner's glasses - they are frameless, and she actually broke the arm off through a big chunk of glass. Irreparable. Thankfully Centrelink has got past their 'system error' and we can afford to get him new glasses.
I got new bras today but they don't fit ... one was 10ff and one was 10g ... the shop I got them from is putting a larger 10g in another brand aside for me to exchange one of them. They never had bras this pretty when I had my first kidlet, all the maternity stuff was beige. Must be this Gen-X baby boom that is making people sell pretty bras - women in their 30s are a fussy lot, they have money, and they're all having babies right now! Bloody brilliant I say, why didn't anyone make such nice maternity bras 10 years ago?
Edit: OMG my toddler just fell asleep. She never sleeps. Pinch me!

elf- where the hell did u find sz 10 maternity bras?? i have found 1 at a baby shop, they had 1!! i was just lucky it was DD like i needed.

blah so we join the ranks of supply issues, DS was 4.1kgs last monday and only grew 3.5cms in 6wks. had to go back to the doc yest and hes still 56.5cms long and is now only 3.9kgs so im on maxalon to try to up the supply along with expressing cos he wont wake up for extra feeds during the night elf i even resorted to putting a cold glass on his bare tummy and he just squirmed and grizzled, without opening his eyes!! as a last resort ive got formula to top up his feeds cos hes been having both boobies and still grizzling. last night he had 75mls after wards and this morning 40mls.
fingers crossed it gets himto put on weight!!
and as the icing on the cake DF is sick as a dog with the real flu (hence my extra stress about DS's weight), hes only gotten out of bed to go to the doc and pee, which for DF is WEIRD! he normally wont rest even on the verge of death so hes back to the doc this arvo... so Mr C and i have been sleeping in the nursery to try and not get it as well and ive been popping vitamins like there's no tomorrow.

cmarfol, your house sounds a lot like mine at the moment. DH is sick as a dog with the flu. He's been in bed for days, only got out yesterday to go to the dr. So I'm left running after the 3kids on my own. I think I'm having supply issues too, either that or Lexie is using my nipples as a dummy. She's constantly wanting to feed & I know she can't always be hungry. My nipples are so sore from her sucking all the time. I even tried her on a dummy but she spits it so I've been giving a few formula top up feeds to see if that has helped & it does settle her.
Lexie got weighed on Tuesday, she's now 4.4kg. She is getting so chubby! I've got her in cloth nappies pretty much full time now.
Gotta go, DD2 is getting into things that she shouldn't be. Hope everyone is well & I will try & do more persies later xxx
elf: YaY for hawt b/f bras! i had the lovely beige ones from sams wherehouse with DJ - mainly due to the lack of $$ leading up to his birth. this time i've got mine from Kmart and one from bigw. but im lucky if they have my size 18dd as i've been getting them reduced to clear. i hope you get a bra that fits. have you thought about getting the extenders for the back strap if the cup fits? they're $15 or so from Bigw (and i think kmart may also have them too)
'Mar: has Mr C started moving more? they can often start moving more thus they lose a little weight. is he sleeping much? a nurse in ICU said "sleep = fat babies" with the maxlon just watch out that you dont just *stop* taking it. i did that...and it wasn't pritty. how often is Mr C feeding? how long for? maybe pop into the breast feeding issues/support section they have a really good list of foods/conctions to help boost supply - also how much are *you* drinking? i've fond if i dont drink enough i dont make as much milk. i hope your DF gets better soon.
leigh: maybe lexi is comfort sucking? from memory around this time they go though a developmental leap/unsettled patch. but could be wrong. i hope your DH gets better soon
AFM: had a fairly good few days. vics had at least one day sleep of 2 hours or more which is nice. and DJ has been sleeping though. (well 11pm - 7:30am ) its scary that vic is 6 weeks old and DJ is 18 months old 0_o just a little scary. tomorrow we head off on our get away. its to near lakes entrance where DH used to go on holidays as a kid (and he's 31 lol) hopefully next year we'll be able to get away for two weeks and go to the place i used to go. but with DH's work its not likely. as it stands he has a long weekend (saterday-monday) but thats a little iffy as it looks like he'll be working mondays. so while i get him during the day - im alone at night from 4:20pm til 10:30pm.and even on the weekend i dont always get DH to myself eather. thanks to my FIL. mind you i can about one thing. FIL has this cruddy-should-have-been-blown-up years ago trailor. well he's getting rid of it next weekend!! i told him i was writeing it down and holding him to it! we have a pead. appt next week too which im guessing Vic will be weighed/mesured and all that jazz. which it'll be interesting to see how much he's put on. he's got fat rolls and his legs and wrists which is nice to see (DJ never had them). Ohh and cousin of mine's little DD's - born at 32 weeks are going really well - still half of vics birth weight (well closer to 3/4 of it) combined but going well. which is nice to hear for them. i have offered my cousin if she needs more BM for her babies that she can have mine but for now she's good.
oo better go Vic will be up soon and i gotta bath DJ before that!

I got them from Eve's gift store, which is in Adelaide but they have an online store - googling for Hot Milk maternity bra usually gets a bunch of online stores. They specialise in the obscure sizes. I'm quite undeniably a 10 so the band isn't an issue, the cup was the problem. Trying to get a 10 over a G cup is borderline impossible, I had to get them from the UK with DD#2 but she was obviously a different sort of feeder and I was bigger with her. I look pretty silly when I'm breastfeeding - all boobs.
Cmarfol - if mr c is happy, maybe you just have a little one? There's some kids at kindergym that are tiny little things, but that's just how they are. DD#1 fell below 50th when she was little but was just a slower grower than my other two, who apparently inherited a tendency to grow very fat in their first few months from my partner - something I only found out AFTER DD#2 grew from 0000 to 00 in 2 weeks. Grr. Just as well I have these boobies, eh? My partner was fed milk from a TIN as a baby.
Edit again: ah, read your new post in your other thread, if he's losing not just gaining slowly you *do* have a supply issue Bummer.
My lump is getting cuter by the day. He is awake a lot more and has big googly blue eyes and we get the occasional smile but can't provoke him into smiling, he does it semi-randomly.
Going off the topic of babies for a moment, we got our toddler her first not-fringe haircut. She had gold ringlets almost to her waist. Other half wanted a lot cut off, the hairdresser apparently couldn't bring herself to do it so she only got 4 inches taken off, her hair was all different lengths and now it is all the one length. Its great - no more horrible knots! Its going to be a long wait to see what colour hair the lump gets, his eyelashes and eyebrows are so pale blonde you can't see them but his hair is dark brown. DD#2 started off with dark brown hair and brown eyelashes but her real hair grew in gold. I figure this one will be a paler shade of blonde again.
elf- lol! but its so pretty!!! hehe at the lump, im loving the googly eyes we have here, Mr C has discovered the dragonfly toy that hangs off the hood of the pram, he was trying to be cranky the other day but kept forgetting to cry and grumble cos he was getting distracted by the bug swaying with the pram movement.
ya sucks and im really bummed out about it, theres never been feeding probs in my family except to do with food allergies (a couple of my cuz got put on formula cos they are allergic to EVERYTHING just about) it just makes me feel soo damn frustrated!!
I've been reading but haven't had time to post much as my bubs seem to like to never sleep at the same time
Bub is starting to get to that really alert communicative stage of lots of smiles and trying to goo and gaa and all. She's been keeping me awake after her mid - night feed with her grunting and farting but when I turn on the lamp she's asleep, but I keep expecting her to wake up due to the nosie, last night she woke at 2 for her feed, and at 4 was grunting about with eyes closed, I ended up sticking her on my boob just to shut her up whilst lying down but took a few goes before she'd suck just held it in her mouth like a dummy pretending she was sleeping soundly, cheeky, cheeky.
She's grown heaps in length - at least 8cm by what I can gather from just a rought look at the chemist while weighing her, prob more as didn't stretch her out real good as didn't want her to roll off the bench, she's about 4.5kg nekkid which might seem small to some of you (READ: LACHLAN - WOW!) But, she was only born on the 10th % and that's up on the 25th so the B/F with the motillium and comping about 130-200ml per day is making her put on weight very well at least which is the main thing.
On some of the other topics up for discussion lately, I'm pleased to report that my grazing 1st degree tearing has NOT resulted in the unpleasant razor blades of agony that the 3 way 2nd degree I got with DD1 did for almost 6 months when "showin the lurv" - big hooray.
Leigh - If Lexie is putting on enough weight without the topups you might be one who needs to go against the demand feed advice for a little while in trying to stretch her feeds out a bit so she takes a bigger feed at each feed to get her through to the next one a bit longer do you think.

I'm so sorry that some of you are having milk supply issues. I don't know what that's like, I've got so much I don't know what to do with it (so I express it and freeze it!). Since it looks as though I'll be going back to work sooner than I thought, I'll need that frozen stuff for when I travel (I go domestic and international to NZ every couple of weeks).. so DH will need to have that supply on hand for when I'm away. not sure how I'm going to handle being away from my LO but the majority of my trips should only be day trips with the max time away being maybe 3 days..
cheering this morning as Lachlan slept for 5 solid hours last night!! Woohoo! I feel like a new woman. only a couple of days ago he was up every 2 freaking hours for feeds, so not sure how long this is going to last, but man, DH and I felt so good this morning.
Sas - yay for 'showing the lurve' without razor blades!
'mar - yay for googly eyes! Sorry your supply is down - tried any natural or over the counter meds for it?

AFM - we weighed Lachlan yesterday... he's now 5.9kg. He's getting so big and my back is getting quite sore from carrying him. But he's not getting the big fat rolls that some babys get, you know.. the fat rolls on the fat rolls. Big news is that he has started to self soothe himself. Before he would cry when he woke up and I would have to rock his crib to put him back to sleep. I have been peeking in when I've been hearing him awake and watched him as his eyes slowly closes again and he passes out. This is great because it means that I don't have to get up in the night between feedings anymore! Cheering!
I've had one phone interview already for a work from home part time job.. hoping to hear back this week for progress.. perhaps a 2nd interview.
We've got a busy week this week, tomorrow I'm going to my first mother's group, so looking forward to that, Wednesday visiting a very preggy girlfriend, Thursday is lunch with my bestie, her bubba and my mum at my mums place, and Friday is a play date with Lachlan's two cougar girlfriends Amelia who is 5 months old and Charlise who is 10 months old. he's already got a girlfriend, sophie, who is his godmother's baby girl and she is 7 months old. He's already a bit of a ladies man!
Lachlan should be up soon, so I'd better go and do some stuff around the house. Will check in soon.

Elf - Love the pic! Good to hear she got a haircut though, all that hair must have been getting in her way a bit! We've also been trying to guess what colour hair Harlee will have, dh had white hair when he was little and I have always had brown. Harlee has light brown hair at the moment but blond eyebrows and eyelashes. I think she'll be blond, but still unsure.
Yesturday I felt a bit engorged so I decided I would try express again and let dh attempt to feed Harlee with the bottle. In 3 minutes, I got 300ml! I was quite proud of my jerseycowness. But Harlee refuses to take the bottle. We were trying for a while and she kept spitting it out like she did with the dummy. Its strange as I can put my finger in her mouth and shell suck on it, but anything non human and she thinks we're crazy for even trying So looks like we'll be dragging her along to our anniversary dinner at the end of the month..thats if we still end up going
My 6 week check consisted of 'how are you, and is there anything you want to ask us?' That was at the hospital, So pointless. I asked when our catch up for the antenatal classes were, and she says, 'we should have written that on your blue book'.. I say 'no, they told me to ask about it at the 6 week check.' And she looks through all her her books and says ' oh that was 2 weeks ago. You should have been told.'
It took us 40 mins to get there and it was pouring rain and Harlee has had a cold so it was not nice. We were only in there for 5 mins before she told us goodbye. She didnt check either of us over. I think Im going to a different hospital if I ever want kids again. The treatment I had there has just been shocking. The next closest to us is an hour away.
Also our health nurse is slack too.. no mothers group for us as I didnt make it to the 2 week appointment and that is when she organises the groups, so we 'missed out'
Thank goodness for Bellybelly.. or I'd be going nuts.
We had 'friends' over for dinner last night.. of course our shout because its our house. I had fun turning them off their food by using the aspiratator to suck the bogers out of Harlees nose at dinner time. They asked if they could visit when Harlee wasnt cranky. We'll funny enough, Harlee was nice and cranky as soon as they walked in the door and happy when they left!
And last week the mil showed up at 8.30pm again without telling us and demanded a hold. I said no, she has to go to bed. So I put her in bed and turned off all the lights. Felt good to do it and I made it very awkward for her so she left pretty quick. Im hoping she can find a more reasonable time to visit and maybe to warn us beforehand.
Poopie, My inlaws annoy the hell out of me too, I would be so annoyed if mine rocked up at 8:30pm without letting us know first. My FIL is the worst. He rocked up here about 3 wks ago at 6:45 am and we were all still in bed. He was knocking on the front door and coz no one heard him he jumpedout 6ft fence and came and knocked on all our windows (including Lexie's) to wake us up and all he wanted was to drop a pumpkin off. Beats me why he couldn't leave it at the front door. No mothers group for me either I really wanted to join a mothers group coz we have recently moved to a new suburb and I want to meet some other mums and bubs. I might have to go to Playgroup instead. Wow on the 300ml.
Erica, Great news that Lachlan is starting to self soothe, it will be so much easier for you. Fingers crossed your phone interview went well and you get a 2nd one. Hopefully Lachlan will go another 5 hours for you again tonight. It makes so much difference getting an extra couple of hours sleep. Sas, Lexie used to keep me awake with her grunting and farting too. She used to do it in her sleep. I end up having to put her in her own room to sleep coz she was keeping me awake all night. Lexie weighs 4.5 kg as well. Yay for the no razor blades agony!!! DH and I have only DTD twice since having Lexie and I am pleased that I've had no pain this time either.

Lexie has a cold at the moment, poor little thing is sooo snotty. I hate it when my kids get sick, especially bubs when you can't give them medicine. DH has been really sick with it so I am hoping Lexie doesn't get it so bad.
The lump slept for 7 hours last night and only had one booby when he woke up (for an hour ... at 5:30 ... grrr) and then went back to sleep for another 5 hours so I had one rather engorged sore booby by the time he got up. But 7 hours? Wow! I'll take more of that!
The night before was one of his worst nights ... didn't have the usual routine in the evening for some reason so he slept 3 hours, awake for 1.5, asleep for 3, awake for 1, asleep for 3 ...
I have my 6 week checkup tomorrow at the medical centre but that's with the doc, he has his 6 week checkup at home on Thursday with a midwife. He feels really heavy so he's probably over 5kg, but I'm guessing wildly here. You know you're at 6 weeks because everyone rings up to make sure you're ok and want to come weigh him

Just thought I'd drop by and say hello to all my belly friends... only had a quick skim through but sounds like most bubs, and mums, are doing really well! Erica - you must be feeding that boy some awesome milk. I'd love to catch up for coffee and meet bub, but I'm not sure when I'd be getting to Sydney... maybe we should meet half way and Sas might join us as well?? Poopie - that's pretty ordinary about your 6week checkup... although from what I've heard a lot of people's are like that. I guess I'm lucky as I had a private OB and she was excited to see us.. she wanted to nurse Parker and she did a complete checkup on me... I did have stitches though and due for a pap smear (STILL on yearly ones after 5years!!! grrr) Sas - yay on Lilah's weight gain... sorry you've had to comp but at least it's working out for the best Elf - I thought being between 12E and 12F was annoying to find. More annoying though when they suggest I go to a 14 which is HUGE in the band 'mar - I posted in your other thread re Mr C's weight and your supply - I hope everything works out Hope DF is better soon so he can help out with bub Leigh - hope Lexie is better soon... Mr P is sick also (along with mummy and daddy) and it is soo hard watching him cough knowing there isn't anything I can do for him.... Parker is now 3.9kg and 57.5cm.... he'll be 10weeks on Saturday - wow how time flies!! And Saturday is our big day, fingers crossed the winds we are getting at the moment go away
Lumpfeatures got weighed and measured today ... he's found these percentile line thingies in the book and he's sticking to them. He's on the 50th for weight and head circumference and the 75th for length, but then he always has been. Boring!
I thought he might be over 5kg ... nope, he had a very full nappy when we got there and turned out to be 4.9
Otherwise he got declared cute and perfect and stuff, but that seems to happen every time I take a baby to a health professional
Unfortunately the guy who does vasectomies is on holiday. The baby doc joked they won't let her have the knife. So, that bit has to wait.
