heya girls, wow i have had this window open for so long, ive finally finished my reply!!!!!!!

erica- im glad work is going really well. how was ur night out?

tali- tell the health nurse to go jump, introduce solids when u and harlee are ready.

elf- is he having a growth spurt or is he just living up to his nickname?? mr c has been waking up every hr or 2 at night since he was sick but hes been feeding quiet badly so i cant really complain...

MIL went to a conference the other day that talked about interesting research on the introduction of solids tho, apparently they are now thinking that its a good idea to introduce small amounts of high allegy foods between 4 and 6 months...after they have been saying for soooooooooooo long not to give it to them until 12mths <<<<thats my MIL lol

ow i envy ur routine, mr c has sorta got a routine for sleep... wakes up anywhere between 6am and 8am, naps at 10am-ish for between 20min to 1hr and again at 4pm-ish and is generally in bed asleep before 8pm... no feeding routine either, it seems to be anywhere between 1 and 4 hrs leaning more towards 1hrly in the morning.

but on the upside mr c's bottom has pretty much gotten the all clear, saw the GP today to make sure its healing properly then back to outpatients in 4 weeks. we also have a decent case of oral + gut thrush from the antibiotics so has drops for that, as well as probiotic stuff. very scary tho cos his tummy/bottom has been really bothering him but i thought it was just the antibiotics, making him feel sick or his bottom being sore (i have been having to give him panadol to get him to stop screaming a few times in the last couple of days) but it turns out gut thrush can be really painful... like wind pain all the time BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel.
on a happier note i just about kissed the postie today :P i got fluff mail AND babylegs and dr seus tshirt AND the jolly jumper i bought on ebay.... those on FB might have seen the pic, he thinks the jolly jumper is fantastic, hes already trying to catch the dogs tail as she walks past.... a lot of people have said that it might take a bit for him to get the idea of bouncing to make things happen lol, hes such a wriggle worm that it only took about a minute.

    anyway id better go
love, squishy hugs and raspberries to all

gah! every one and their name changes *head explodes* lol

elf: yay for a lumpy lump! and your DD sounds soo cute drawing everything! even if it was on the walls!

Tali: PFFT to your MCHN! sorry but she's fulla crudola! and your MIL...i sooo wanna meet here *evil smile* boy could i have some fun with her! harlee sounds like she's growing like a mad little chicken! as for teething - sounds like she could be - DJ screams like that when he has teeth (molars) comming though. although Vic has has a few nights like that - taking him into a dark room and feeding him on a bed seems to help it. hopefully your MIL will learn that athsma attack = BAD

erica: ouch your poor boobies! maybe take the pump with you - and if you cant find some place out of the way todo it - a small banket. when i was expressing for DJ i'd do that...even in the car glad Mr L is getting a feel for sleeps and feeds and all that. and that things are going well with work

Untold: i hope things are going ok for you, you're a wonderful mamma and the best-est your little man could ever want or need.

AFM: Vics growing like a mad man - next week i think it is we have a check up and the MCHN and peads. this week (tomorrow i think o_0) we have the 4 month jabs. which will be fun. but he's babbleing away and kicking things. which is veeery cute. he's also lost alot of the 'baby' look now too he looks like a real little boy! but he's going well. we saw my cousins and their twin bubba girls (a month younger then vic) and they're soo iddy biddy! but i love them! oo better go DJ is up!

Lump here has abruptly decided boobies are booooooooooooooooooring and he'd rather play with toys. This has been going on for a couple of days now. So while I'm here being an annoyed, lumpy, engorged mess after months of nice happy soft boobies, he's there as happy as Larry, furiously playing with all his toys. Aaaargh!

On the upside, he sleeps a lot better now he's not eating constantly. But still. Aaaargh!

Oh and his hair got so long I got an inch or so cut off. Given the speed everyone else's hair (except DD#1) grows in this house, he's going to need it cut again in a few weeks or it'll get in his eyes. He has dark brown hair with white blonde roots so he looks like he's getting bald patches everywhere.

Goodness girls! We have gone quiet!

How is everyone and their bubbas? L wouldn't go to sleep for his morning nap this morning so I put him on his tummy and *bam* he was out for the count. I'm so nervous though and keep going in to check on him! Anyone else's baby sleep on their tummy? L still isn't quite rolling over yet (I call him lazy!).

In other news, we started rice cereal this week. I know, I was all about going vege first but I changed my mind. Anyhoo, he loves it! No problems, poops are a little different now. Gonna start on some puree pears today and see how he goes. The look on his face when he tried it for the first time was precious. Now he has little chats with me in between each mouthful. Super CUTE!

I'm also trying to wean off breast milk and on to formula. It's just getting a little tricky with my travelling and trying to BF full time. I've BF full time since he was born, and I wanted to do it for the first 6 months at least and I'm ok with Mix feeding. So At the moment I'm doing 1 bottle feed a day (with BM in the bottle) until my freezer supply runs out, then I'll be doing 1 formula bottle per day for the next month, then eventually I want to get down to only morning and evening breast feeds with formula in between.Weird I know when other mummas can't breast feed and want to breast feed and here I am trying to get off breastfeeding, but it's just not working out with me going back to work . Also, having to travel now, pumping is a pain in the butt! I want to keep the breastmilk, but then I have to think about bringing bags, and pumps and containers etc etc etc... I have to be super organised!

Anyhoo, hope you are all well, hope to hear from you soon!

What is everyone doing for Christmas?? (it's next month!! *eep*)

Good to see its going well Erica! There's no way I could go back to work, your very brave. I feel like I have had a successful day if I have just hung the washing out! I don't think well be starting solids for sometime still, Harlee just is no where near ready, plus I love feeding her too much and I'm not looking forward to the day I have to stop breastfeeding!

Harlee has just started to roll.. from her back to her front, but then she realises she's on her belly and squeals so she quickly rolls back onto her back.
I'm really enjoying being home with Harlee, she is so much fun. She can also pull her self up when she is lying down by grabbing our fingers and sitting up.

I have now lost 20kg since being pregnant (yay!) Just 10 more to go and I'm pre preggo weight and I can do it all over again.. Lol. I put on sooo much because I gave into every craving. I got to slim down for feb as I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding and the other 2 brides maids are sizes 8 and below 6!! Im not planning on being that small I'm just happy with a size 12, I think I'll feel a bit better about myself then.

The last few days Harlee has been doing lots of ' chunky' spews, the smell bad too.. Were just putting it down to teething. I can feel a lump in her gums but nothing haas cut through still. It took me about a year to have my one wisdom tooth to come through so I'm hoping she's not like me in that way! Poor thing. The amber necklace helps, she its usually in pain in the morning because we take the necklace off at night, so I put it on in the morning and she seems a bit happier after I've put it in her.
So not fair that babies have to go through this in the first year of life..
Welcome to the world.. Just squeeze through this tiny hole and soon after your gums will have hard things poke through them. Gr.
Hope all is well in mummy land

elf: LOL! vics hair is growing too fast as well. but i'll try and leave it as long as i can. as it seems once i start cutting i dont stop!

erica: do whats best for you and your family. two BF's aday is better then none isn't it? as for solids same thing. do whats best. i know for us we wont be starting until after 6 months. but thats whats best for my little family - plus with everything else "happening" well i dont want to add it into the mix

Tali: Naw! that is soo cute! harlee is a smart little chicken.

Bah BBL gotta drop DH at work!

erica: :yeahthat: cant say it any better than Tali and Dan have already...

elf and dan: lol mr c currently has more hair than our friends lil girl whose 18months!! to make matters worse her hair blonde! but so is mr c's

tali: 20kgs!!!!!!! u go girl, thats amazing! yay clever harlee wat a smart lil chickie!

i think ive gotta start buying bigger covers for our night nappies... last night (at midnight) i changed mr c and put acover on that was too tight. he has big red/purple lines where the legs were tootight on his thighs

christmas!?! crapsicles!! i was planning on beingg organised this year, the last 2 christmases i have gone shopping on chrisstmas eve *shudder*, all ive bought so far r friends kids pressies, and some clothes for mr c.

we r havinng some pretty good chats here, he defimately tthinks hes says stuff and laughs and giggles when we do. hes wanting to crawl too (eg trying to throw himself out of our arms and kicking against us) despite not wanting to do tummytime. when he is on his tummy hes been turning himself around. and is sitiing up for a minute or two with only some helpto balance himself.

well i am still waiting on our amber teething necklace cos everything that can is getting gnawed on and hes started trying to uuse my nipple as a teething toy.... i started getting cranky cos it hadnt arrived yet and the website says shipping within 48hrs and i ordered it on 28th. emailed them about it and low and behold id forgotten to pay

we r trying not to start on solids but mr c has started chucking a tanty when we eat and dont let him have some... so so far he has been sucking on or tasting a fingerfulof whatever we r having. mainly he spits it out after tasting it tho.

anyway i gtg, the washing machine has finished.

ps sorry for the masses of typos mr c is helping me type lol

    bah im back!

Tali: harlee is a smart little chicken and i sooo get the whole not wanting to stop bfing eather! and 20kg! well done

erica: lol DJ used to sleep on his side - and now is a tummy sleeper, as long as its a ferm serfice (EG floor) and nothing around the face it should be fine. its more if he chucks and inhales it can be bad. im sure Mr L isn't lazy i've not yet met one 'lazy' baby. they all do things in their own time.

'mar: LOL at Mr C cracking it over food! thats cute. first food Dj had was a cheese stick which he promtly stole from me! and i giggled at the hair. Dj looked bald at this age - but he had hair, it was just white, translusaint blonde. now its thicker you can see it!

AFM: been busy here. looking at houses over the net. and the barrarge of apprasials start next week. so that means tomorrow - before the rain - i get to mow the lawns aaaaaaaaaand wash some windows. plus friday a skip comes and this weekend is ment to = rain. but humid rain (like 32ºc or something) and i might call MIL to come over and watch the boys. but it should be worth it. we need the change! plus i want room for some sheep or a goat and home chooks! i need the chooks for my veggie patch to keep the bugs away vic got weighed today... a big lumpa baby he is. 7.85kg. which is good. seeing as DJ didn't hit that mark until well after 6 months!
    oo better go feed DJ!

Hi girls! Thought I'd drop in and see how everyone was going, and have a bit of a vent which I will prob post elsewhere in the forum as well.

Mr P is happy, alert, babbling, rolling, chewing everything he can get his hands on, interacting etc etc Sleeping okay still, although had about a week and a half of waking up between 4 and 5am for the day, but slept through last night so fingers crossed for tonight. He is feeding every two hours throughout the day and producing wet nappies, and at least one poo nappy a day.
BUT I don't think he is gaining weight We have only done the recommended checkups, except at the start after being discharged from hospital as we needed to ensure his weight gain continued, but I don't think he would be much heavier than 5.5kg IF THAT! When I got on the scales with him at mum's a couple of weeks ago he was about 5.2kg. He is now 5months old. I have to go into town on Monday for an appointment with the social worker, so I might see if I can get him weighed, measured etc but I'm kinda worried they will tell me that we need to do formula top ups or start food I don't want to do top ups, or go to formula, and I don't want to start food until at least next month because I don't think he is ready for it yet.
Now the reason I don't think he is gaining weight is that I was watching him when he was sleeping today, and you can see his ribs (front and back) and his little spine... I don't want to deprive him, but I know that he is getting a belly full every time he feeds because I let him tell me when he wants to feed and when he's had enough. Surely he would be looking for more if he wasn't getting enough.
And apparently the IL's have mentioned his weight gain to DH again today grrr

Anyway... good to see everyone's little one's are going well. Sorry no personals just needed to have a bit of a vent with familiar faces iykwim

    Hi Ladies!

happy monday morning everyone. Hope you all had a nice (HOT) weekend. Was L's first time in the pool. He LOVED it. I think he's going to be a water baby like his mumma. Weighed him the other night, the little chunka is now 7.1kg. No wonder my back is hurting!

Untoldangel - Talk to your paediatrician, but I could consider supplementing with formula. I'm not sure if it's just because P isn't a big eater in general, but maybe you're just not producing enough of the right stuff in your milk... i.e not enough fat/protein... Milk changes over time apparently to suit the baby's growth and sometimes your boobies don't get the memo and don't up the fat/protein/calories. It happens.. don't stress yourself out by trying to continue exclusively BF when the little munchkin may need a bit more food in his belly. Good Luck honey, you're doing a great job *mwah*

Dani - OMG are you kidding? Vic is a little chunky monkey! WOW! My L is 7.1kg and I thought he was huge! Maybe you should give some of your Boobie Juice to UntoldAngel for little P. Sounds like vic has the good stuff there! Good luck finding a new house! Fingers are firmly crossed

cmar - what is the website for the amber necklace? And why does amber work? sounds intriguing. No sign of teething with Master L, but I want to be prepared for when It does start. Teething rings are already in the fridge!!

Tali - OMG 20kg! That is amazing. Well done you. I've lost 15kg since being my highest before giving birth, but I've still got a jelly belly.. I hate it! Poor Harlee with her teething. I am so not looking forward to when L starts. I keep pulling down his bottom lip to see if I can see anything. but nope! Nothing. are you giving her any bonjela or teething gel?

AFM - first overnight trip on thursday, first time away from L. Hoping DH can handle it all! hehe I'm looking forward to room service and a FULL uninterrupted nights sleep! YAY. But still gonna miss my little monkey. I'm now mix feeding. One bottle of formula a day and the rest BF. My freezer supply has almost run out. He didn't take to the formula all that well so we're mixing half BM half formula which seems to be going down OK. I'm going to have to take my pump with me when I go away overnight and hopefully I can freeze the milk I express and take it back home with me. The reason I'm mix feeding is because while I'm working (and especially while I'm away for work) lachlan will need to take formula and rather than me being engorged and risking mastitis every time I travel my boobs will hopefully not produce as much milk and I can still BF him while I'm at home. My aim would be to continue a morning and a night time feed and then formula/solids inbetween.

L had his first swim in the pool on Saturday. He didn't care for it all that much in the beginning as he's used to nice warm baths. but by the end of it he was splashing about and smiley. He then cuddled up to me and fell asleep in the pool! Poor little munchkin all tuckered out! hehehe

L has been eating rice cereal now for 2 weeks. He's up to about 1/3 cup at each meal. I've also pureed some mangos and some sweet potato. Both of which he loved! We have to buy him a high chair soon. I'm thinking of getting a bumbo. Anyone got one? worth it? They're rather exxy!

Question - do you girls have your baby's on a routine yet? I'm trying to get L on a nap / eating routine.
So In my perfect world this is how it would go:
    6am Breastfeed.
    7am: Nap 1.5 hours
8:30am: rice cereal and play time
    10am: BF/Bottle
    10:30am: Nap 1-1.5 hours
    12:00am: Lunch and play time
    2pm: BF/Bottle
    2:30pm: Nap 1-1.5 hours
    4pm: Playtime
    5pm: Dinner
    5:30pm: Bath
    6pm: BF/Bottle
    6:30pm: Sleep
    10pm: Dreamfeed
So his milk feeds are every 4 hours apart (5 milk feeds a day) and he has 3 solid meals inbetween. But that's so not how it happens!!! What are you guys doing? or are you just going with the flow?

This wouldn't be such an issue if L wasn't at Childcare now, but I really want him to be in some sort of routine so when he goes to kindy I can let the girls know what times he feeds and naps. I've read books that say that baby's do well on a routine. Really hard when you've got him in the car at certain times (he loves to fall asleep in the car!!!) and then going out to see people, grandparents etc and then at childcare he doesn't sleep much cos there is so much to do!

Anyway... better go! Got a tonne of laundry to do then It's off to mummy's group!

    Have a great day!

erica: Untolds milk is *fine* as a mumma who went though weight gain issues, saying that about milk is pritty hard to deal with. and breast milk is always the 'right' stuff for a baby. what ever is need in the milk is taken from the mumma's body. some babies just aren't huge. DJ is what 11.4 or 11.5 kg at almost 2 years old? and he eats more then me! babies are all very, very differant. i dont mean to come accross on my high horse but i've BTDT with regards to weight gain and all the 'reasons its not working' for me it was a mix of reflux, toung tie and a bloody fast motoblisum on DJ's part. (three times he tooka formula bottle of 300ml and STILL woke up 3.5 hours later for anoter 250ml!). as for routine...we dont really have one! but thats because i like my babies to know when they're sleepy/hungry. so yep while it means some cruddy nights sleep -in the end it'll work. plus with a massive move comming up in the next 6 months - i figer it'll be less up heval! as for formula which one are you useing? maybe Mr L doesn't like the taste/texture? i used Karriecare - as its a very simmlar texture (well consistancy) to BM. i also used S26 which seemed to be thicker (and stinkyer ) then that.

AFM: been busy cleaning the house. looking at new ones...Vic has been trying to roll from back to front. but as yet gets ticked off mid-way LOL. poor thing.
    BBL vic is awake.

    Hey gals
Erica - Our routine is sorta like this.. But it does vary and I dont push it, it just kind of happens this way..
inbetween 6.30 and 9am Wake up for the day
    then maybe 3-4 feeds.
    inbetween 10am and 11am..nap
    12 noon.. wake up
    then maybe 3-4 feeds
    2.30 or 3.30 till 4 or 5 nap
then feeds every hour or so
    6.30 or 7pm shower
7 or 7.30 last big feed and bed
Harlee will usually wake anytime between 12.30am to 4am and then whenever dh wakes up, maybe 5 or 6 she will jump in bed with me and wake for the day anytime after 7am

Although today and every other day is completley different, that just seems to be one routine that we have done the most. Like you said, if we go out, she will sleep in the car, and I dont wake her up when we get to where we want to be, so that will be an extra sleep or a sleep at a different time which will change the whole day. And if Harlee gets woken by her loud drumming uncle or the neighbours dog, then she will not go back to sleep so she will have her next sleep a little bit sooner.
Its so confusing, I really did try to stick to a routine, but when Harlee did not go to sleep or feed at the right times, it would make me feel like such a failure. Now by going by what she wants, there are not as many tears from the both of us. We just stick to the night time one, because that is what works.

Dan - there's no way Harlee will roll from her front to back, unless she's just been there ims.. she will roll from her back to her front and then get really upset, or very quickly roll back onto her back. silly girl PS.. you need to change your sig! Vic isnt 3 months anymore! time sure does fly!!! I have tried the necklace on Harlees ankle but she kicks it off so quick! How is the house hunting going? Hopefully you can get some land for your vege patch, I'd love a 10 mtr square block with rows just for veges, that would make me very happy. But atm I have the veges & fruit all over the place, it's so rewarding too coz you can eat what you grow! Our silky just came out of its coop last week btw.. that was 4 months being clucky and not laying and now it's happy as larry, but still not laying yet. Id suggest you get some reliable rhode island red chooks!

Are any of you having issues with bub not sleeping by themselves during the day? It's getting frustrating now.. Harlee hates it when Im in a different room while she plays, so she sits on the bouncer on the bench or outside while i hang out the washing.. but it can be so hard to do things while she is there all the time - like going to the toilet! It just feels wrong! But I cant do it while shes sleeping because she sleeps on me! I wrap her because that way she sleeps better, but its very draining having no time to do things!

    Hi Girls!

First night away from L... I missed him terribly, and my boobies missed him even more. managed to express 200mL yesterday evening and another 200mL this morning! Now sitting in the freezer where I am working today and will take it back with me on the plane this afternoon!

Dani - I totally agree that BM should be all that bubba needs.. but if master P needs extra food then at least Untold has the option to give him formula. I know it's not ideal, but I would hate for P to become "failure to thrive".. But definitel Untold should speak to her doctor and do what is best for P and herself. L is taking the formula now, he just didn't like the taste at first but got used to it. Also, because I was still around I guess he knew that he could get BM from me so why would he eat the formula? hehe He was looking at my DH as if to say "why are you giving me this when I could be having the top shelf stuff??" but while I am away, he has no choice.

Tali - Yeah I'm finding that L fusses when he goes to sleep cos I'm not in the room with him. So I stay with him in the room with him in his cot until he starts to get real sleepy. Sometimes I'll pat his chest so he knows I'm there. So funny cos he'll start to close his eyes and then open them real quick to see that I'm still there. When he turns his head to face away from me, I sneak out of the room... sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I guess they're starting to develop their clinginess now...

AFM - DH sent me the cutest video last night of L giggling away. So cute cos he's just started giggling. I'm in Brisbane and last night I met up with my first BellyBuddy I met on here. We were in the "Pre-TTC" chatroom and now both have our own bubbas, except her's was born in September. So good to finally meet her and cuddle her little boy. Now to meet up with all of you girls at some point!! I'll be down in melbourne a fair bit for work, so hope to work something out with you guys Tali and Dani. Cmar - I'm in Adelaide once every 3 months or so... Belle, I'm in Newcastle once every 3 months or so as well!

OK that's all from me. I'm meant to be working and tying off loose ends before I leave for my flight home.

    Raspberries to all your LO!

Erica: i understand that. i've BTDT with FTT. and TBH it made little differance in DJ. i what i said was not meant to be an attack but i am honestly saying that to be told the milk i made for DJ wasnt good enough (yep, some one told me that) shattered what little faith i had in me left. sometimes to be told that formula top ups may be needed is one thing but to be told that the BM isn't up the scrach can really, really dent ones self esteam and worth. its not easy having a lean mean eating machine but some bubbas are like that. i know AP can speak for her self, but im talking from the road i've walked. but tis cute you got a giggleing video of Mr L and WOW and the expressing 200mls too thats an imprssive effort!

AFM: Vic is trying to push himself forward while on his tummy 0_o its not really working out for him but he is trying. the only downer is both he and DJ have colds so the face rubbing into the carpet = fluff under the nose.
this weekend = a trip up to Wangratta which should be fun. we're staying the night which should be fun

Omg!! I can read This forum on my iPhone now!! Download the 'tapatalk' application to be able to connect to the forum. This is awesome!

Well dani I am shocked and appalled that somebody would tell you that your milk wasn't good enough! No wonder you are so passionate about it now and I don't blame you!

So I'm back home and my first night away was tough but a success. I brought my pump with me and expressed 600ml over 2 days!! Managed to keep it in the freezer and transport it back on the plane. Makes me confident that I can continue to do this now that I am traveling

    Have a great weekend girls!

Question for you girls: how do I get an avvy for my profile? I want one!

Went to Baby Bunting today and did a big shop with L. Bought him a bumbo, swim ring and a jolly jumper. We tried the jumper in store and he had the biggest smiles and was jumping all over the place. We had a crowd of people watching him after a while cos he was squealing so much!! So so cute!

He's napping now. Love my mummy time. Enjoying a cuppa tea and a bikkie.

    Have a wonderful day xx
