So I had him sleep on my chest until the next feed (3:30am!), and then I fed him, changed him, and put him down by 4am. And he's still asleep! I slept in the room next door until 7:30 (DH slept on the nursing chair until 6am, he just told me), then I crawled back into bed with DH until just now. I'd still be asleep if I wasn't so hungry.
Not a bad end to a night that I was certain was going to have hourly feeds & lots of crying (from me & Jack). I wouldn't mind a few more of these confidence boosters.
I have been MIA because I've been bedridden. The mastitis really knocked me around, the fever was a shocker and it's just this afternoon that I am feeling a bit better. I've been on the antibiotics since Wednesday! I really overdid things, X is a good sleeper (3-4 hourly) and I was off to weddings, visits to family a few hours away and then I went back to work last Tuesday........midwife lectured me and said I was sick because my body was telling me to slow down. I have learned I can't live my life the way I used to, I need to slow down and I am not superwoman. A hard lesson to learn but easy to remember when the consequence has been so hard. I have been bedridden with fever for days and only been able to feed X, DH has had to do everything else.
Hi Klee- look forward to getting to know you
Seph- sorry to hear your birth didn't go as planned. I read a book once called of mice and men and this whole pregnancy journey keeps reminding me of that book. "the best laid plans.....". Saw ur pics on facebook, just gorgeous!!!
Entreat- sounds like you are enjoying things but losing a but if sleep. Please please try and rest, I wouldn't wish sickness on anyone while our babies are so tiny. We need to take care of us to take care of them.
Missymoo-how you look after 4 is simply amazing and inspiring. And you seem to do it taking everything in your stride. I'd love to hear your daily routine!!
Congratulations to you all on your babies. Am I the only one with a girl?
X is doing great, sleeps 3-4 hourly at night and 2-3 hourly during the day. She has snout 6 hours of awake time each day and about 4 hours of this is in the morning. We haven't been home enough to get into a routine so we have no times or anything. We are ending the day with a bath, some awake time and then a feed. She is a happy little thing.
I have SO much milk, another contributing factor to the mastitis. I have to go to bed at night with a towel strapped to my chest! Also when I feed, my other breast leaks badly. I hAve now taken to catching the drip and I get about 40ml's per feed! Midwife said that my milk will regulate and it should all settle down. I hope it does soon because right now breast feeding is pretty messy.....and painful because of the lumps, but they are getting better.
I am really glad to be in this group with you all. Xx
