    Hi!

Wow - I can see I'm really going to struggle to keep up with this thread! LOL!!!

We're going really well here - bfing is going well and my milk has well and truly come in so bubs is feeding about 3-4 hourly except overnight when it's more like 2 1/2 hourly!! Cheeky thing!!
He's such a gorgeous little boy and hasn't been too much trouble at all just yet!
Dh helped me last night by settling back to sleep after each feed so I actually got 8 hours of broken sleep - the first time since he arrived so hopefully I have enough energy to do it all myself tonight. He slept the whole night aside from feeds in his bassinette which was also a first so that was great. He's quite good at bringing up his wind although some feeds take longer to settle after than others...he tends to fall asleep upright on my chest - must be super comforting for him!
It's going to be pretty full on with the 4 boys at home when dh goes back to work though - I'm going to have to be super organised to get us out of the house for kinder and the kids activities!! Even sometimes making everyone lunch when bubs is unsettled can be tricky!! I've got him at home for another week though so hopefully I'll be all ready! LOL!

Meercat - Yeah on the feeding!! Sounds like your doing really well! Definitely do what you need to do - no such thing as bad habits when babies are so little!!

MIssawah - Wow on the super big sleeps!! I'm hoping Jayden will start some of those soon! LOL! Longest he's gone is about 4 hours so far and that's through the day not at night! hehe. I know he'll get there eventually though!!

B - Happy Easter!! I'm trying to avoid too much choccy in case it upsets Jayden!! I figured white chocolate should be ok though...lol!

    Hi to everyone else!!

    Chat later!

    Hi mummies
Haven't posted for a while, but been reading all your posts. I just haven't really felt up to it until I felt better in myself and the decision I have made. I'm still getting there, but feeling much better.

I stopped breastfeeding on day 14. I feel like I chickened out, gave in, made a selfish decision for myself. I tried to persevere through the pain - I knew I had to correct the attachment, I watched videos and read breastfeeding pamphlets, I read through the breastfeeding support section on here, I rang the hospital in tears late at night, then cried to the ABA the next day and also called a LC. I had a bout of mastitis that I pushed through. Everyone says "it hurts now but it will get better, just keep going". But I couldn't see how anyone could push through THAT! My poor nipples were cracked, scabby and bleeding, I would dread my boy waking for a feed so badly, and it feels horrible to admit but I think the bond between us was starting to deteriorate because of the pain I was in. I could very easily have gone into depression I believe. The last straw was when a chunk of nipple came away inside the nipple shield when I was trying to feed Blake.. My wonderful DH held my hand the entire time, rubbed my back and supported my choice to go to the chemist and buy a tin of formula. Since then he has been happily feeding on formula, and I feel my sanity and confidence have definitiely returned.

I just had to get this out, so thanks for listening. Hopefully I'll find more time soon to contribute more!

Big hugs ReeRee! I think you have done the right thing all being considered and to be honest what I think doesn't even matter when it comes to you and your bubba...oh and no, most people don't go through all that pain!!! You've done so well to try and persevere through it all but that all sounds sooooo painful you poor bugger....I hope you can move forward now knowing you tried your best!! xo

    Morning ladies,

Hope we are all doing well and settling into some routines.

Ree ree- I also had some issues in the first 2 weeks with BF and while it never got as bad as what you experienced, i did think about giving up and going to formula. I cant believe you continued as long as you did as i would have stopped way earlier! Don't let anyone tell you it was the wrong decision as BF might be beneficial to baby but a sane, happy, painfree mummy is much more important! And you can console yourself with knowledge that Blake got all the good antibodies in the early days so still got the benefit of BM but now has a much happier mummy that he can get cuddles with

Beata- as for your milk dilemma, are you drinking heaps of water constantly? I found that my milk runs out really quick and i get massive headaches if i don't always have a bottle of water with me. Also, I've found that as long as my feeds/expresses are fairly consistent from day to day that my milk supply stays consistent too. Perhaps try and even it out and express 1-2 every day, rather than not at all somedays and heaps on other days. HTH

AFM we're all doing well on the Spencer front. Adrian has now taken to cluster feeding in the mornings (as well as at night) from about 8-10ish and then sleeping till about 2-3 in the afternoon, another normal feed and then sleep till about 6-7 and then the cluster feeds start again. Its not too bad but means that i now have cold breakfasts and dinners because he always cracks it when food is ready! Still sleeping most of the night with usually one feed so thats good.

DH goes back to work tomorrow so today is his "do whatever you want" day. Thankfully his wants are relaxing watching TV and helping with Adrian so not much has changed Will miss him heaps when he goes back and i know he will miss Adrian like crazy, also, things are changing at his work so he is trepidatious about returning and it talking changing jobs! Not a great thing to hear with a 3 week old baby!

Anyways, fingers crossed no dramas ensue. Hope we all do well and will talk soon.

Big hugs to all the mummies!

    Hi ladies!

Ree Ree, good on you for persevering for as long as you did! Breastfeeding doesn't work for everyone, and he got two weeks worth of antibodies so yay! It's much more important that you're healthy and happy and able to bond with him.

Teresa, I didn't know maxalon can boost your milk. Learn something new every day!

Hello to all the other mummies!

AFM, Dad and his wife have gone home, I don't think any of us could have handled any more of her! Thank God we usually see Dad by himself. Indy's doing well, feeding well, still wakes a few times a night. I really wish we had a yard, even a balcony, I can't hang the cloth nappies in the sun!

missawah - we use infacol and it works well for us. i dont use it every feed but try and use it a couple of times a day mostly at night so he isnt in too much pain and sleeps better.
