Hi Girls - thought I Would join this thread now! Took me the last hour to catch up on posts.
We have had my parents visiting (they live 10 hours away). Was organised before having Matilda, however, my f......en FIL decided he needed to pick up his trailer (he has a truck) that he bought at the clearing sale a month ago smack bang in the middle of their visit!! What a w....ker - sorry very hormonal right now and think he is rude and a *****!! Have decided I can't stand him, especially when he asked me what I have been up to "now I am on holidays!!!". I had to bite my tounge and walk away, later I had a melt down to my DH and was seriously going to "walk out" if he didn't leave!!!
Especially considering my MIL and SIL are coming to visit on Sunday (during their scheduled visit time - they live 8 hours away!!). He is just so rude!
Sorry needed the rant!
Well apart from FIL - all going well - my parents have gone and I am now going to join the ranks of Theresa and Mia and not have much help during the day - as I don't have fam around and none of my "good friends" are anywhere nearby - my DH is great though and because Matilda is on formula, she is having her last feed at night around 9.30 pm - sleeping until 1.30 - 2 and then sleeping until 5.30 am - 6 am - when my DH is up and he can give her a bottle, so I can sleep - so it is working out. she has a lot of wind though.
Sorry I will do more personals later. little one is waking up.
Hello girls,
Ok, this is going to be a big post because its been a few days.
b- Yes i'm on FB, I'm Cara Spencer, just send me a request but make sure you let me know who you are LOL. This goes for any other BB ladies who would like to be friends :) Once again, just let me know who you are as i might not know based on our avatars :)
Sorry about your DP being crook, hopefully the antibiotics will fix him up.
Meercat- I've found that my DH is the opposite, he's more than happy to steal Adrian away and bath him and change him etc, but doesn't really notice mess in the house and has stoppped cooking meals since he went back to work. Also, does anyone else have problems with partners "suggesting" ways to improve your feeding/wrapping/changing techniques? I know he is just trying to help but does he have breasts engorged with milk and sore nipples? I don't think so. Grrrr!
Krisvee- I was waiting for the crazy hunger thing to kick in but it hasnt yet, i just eat normal and i seem to be able to get about 125ml approx when i express most times so not too concerned. Also, you sound like your going great with all your boys and i tip my hat to you :)
Reeree- I have found that most relos and friends are ok with Adrian and give him back readily but my mum has been getting a bit grabby. I went round yesterday and after i fed Adrian went to wrap him up and mum tried to grab the blanket and wrap him when i was already doing it! having said that tho she and my dad have been great and are loving being nana and poppa, especially now that DH is back at work as mum only works 3 days a week and dad works from home, so lots of company just round the corner if i want it. Also, good to here that you and bubs are doing much better now after solving the whole BF debacle.
Beata- Sorry to hear that your little man is so grizzly, hopefully it is just a phase and he will grow out of it. Sending you calm, happy baby vibes :)
Welcome to Shaza, Miamunchkin, mel4d and 31becc!!!! It's good to have us all together and keep friendships going, especially ones that are so informative and reassuring. Plus i hope everyones photoshoots turn out great.
AFM- things have been going well. Had a mastitis scare two days ago as one of my boobs and then the other one started to ache like crazy. Adrian kicked me in the boob while i was changing him and i thought i was going to pass out!:o After an intensive regime of scalding hot showers and expressing i think i stopped it in its tracks and now am being much more careful about draining my boobs fully so it doesn't come back. Fingers crossed.
Adrian is doing well, was worried that he might be constipated yesterday as he hadn't pooed for a whole day and he usually does about two a day but they say babies can go from lots to only a few poos every couple of days so i didnt get too worried and, lo and behold, he greeted me with a huge full nappy this morning so nothing to worry about :)
I went to the OB last weeks to check my stitches and he says my third degree tear is almost completely healed which is great, and just in passing i said that i assume i will tear along the same line with baby #2, he then said that he highly recommends i have a c-sect next time as ladies that have 3d tears are more than likely to tear completely through the sphincter next time and end up with fecal incontinence and have to have colo-rectal surgery to fix it!:o Gee thanks! Now I will be thinking about that all the time! Has anyone else had a 3d tear and then had fine births after? Was actually really freaked out by the thought as i really enjoyed my VB and the recovery was so fast that the thought of a c-sect is very unappealing. Look at me! baby #1 isn't even a month old yet and i'm talking about having more! LOL must be lack of sleep making me crazy!
Anyway, hope all are doing well and getting enough sleep, speaking of which, i now face the decision of going to bed or staying up to feed Adrian when he wakes, think i will chance going to bed. Night all!!
Glad i went to bed last night as Adrian didn't wake up til 4:30 this morning and we put him down at 9:00 last night!!!!!!! Had to check on him a few times to make sure he was still breathing!! Nearly 8 hours!!! What a trooper!
Hi!
Urgh...I have a massive headache...getting so annoyed at all of these headaches!! I'm seeing the chiro on Mon and getting a massage next Fri so hopefully it will all help!!
Bubs is good- he had his first unsettled time last night and cried and cried, I fed him and dh gave him a bath and then he ended up going his longest between feeds - just under 5 hours! He seems to be having his biggest sleep from about 6-7pm ish onwards...which is great actually because I get a bit of chill out time when all the kids are asleep!! Then he usually feeds 2-3h for the rest of the night!!!!
B - Hope your coping ok with your sick dh!! I got my kidney infection because I have a strange pocket thing in my kidney that holds little stones in it...back then I didn't drink enough water so it kind of stagnated and I got the infection...they operated about a year later and emptied the stones out but never removed the pocket so 6 months later it was full of them again - so ridiculous that I even had the surgery...I've never had any trouble since then though luckily...
Hope bubs drops that 1am feed soon for you!
Con - Big hugs to you...it certainly can be lonely at times!! Especially if bubs is unsettled! Try not to stress about the housework - I promise this stage really doesn't last for very long and before you know it you'll be celebrating bubs 1st b'day! LOL!! Although I know it is hard when your in the middle of it..xo
Missawah - Good luck with the expressing!
31Becc - Sorry to hear your fil has give you stress...Big hugs to you. I don't have any help through the day either - yeah at your dh doing some feeds though - that's great!!
Jellymaker - Yeah at avoiding mastitis - sounds like you did all the right things!! Yep - bubs can definitely vary on their poos...I remember once one of the boys going like 7 days between poos!! (breastfed that's fine - formula fed - definitely not!) It was crazy!!!
I haven't heard that about people with tears - I would definitely get a 2nd/3rd opinion on that...wouldn't want to be having a c-section unless you really needed one!!!
I only had a little tear with Louis but each other labour I've had bigger babies and less tearing! Jayden is by far my biggest and I didn't tear at all. Well, I actually tear upways towards my clitoris for some strange reason and that's happened each time but less severe, but no tearing the other way...
Ok...Louis is watching tv, Dylans supposedly having a nap, Ethans and Jayden are asleep - ahhh house is quiet for 5min...lol...and all I want to do is stuff my face! LOL!! Chat later!
Beata - I've got a Bubzilla sling - you can google it - I find it great but I still do get sore shoulders after a 2-3 hours...bubs alwasy settles really well in it though and I used if for Ethan as well as he was a clingon baby and it worked a treat!!
Jayden is just starting to have more awake time, unfortunately he doesn't know really what to do with himself though so gets grizzly...and yes, then he takes at least 30min of cuddles before he finally nods off...very time consuming!! It's usually when he'sn nearly asleep that the boys all run in yelling and screaming and wake him up and then I have to start all over again....
Meercat - LOL at your milk - I have always been the same too - my family used to laugh and not sit next to me because if bubs broke off it would squirt them...hehe. My flow doesn't seem quite as full on this time which I think is actually helpful for wind...The first 3 always struggled to stay drinking through the let down but Jaydens coping quite well...
B, sorry to hear you have issues with the formula. Me too!! I just changed back to S26 Original, as when I changed to the S26 Gold 3 days ago, Cam started to have the same issues as he did when he was on the Karicare Gold, ie lots of wind and sore tummy. I thougth that with using the infacol at every feed the Gold formulas would be OK, but it's like the infacol does nothing when I feed him the Gokd formulas. So I went back to the S26 Original formula and so far so good. Could Ewan be going through a growth spurt??...the other thing is, have you tried giving him more ie 125 ml per feed? That's what they recommend for babies 2 weeks to 2 months. I give Cam 125 ml per feed. Now, on the time between feeds, on Karicare Gold he went 4 hours between feeds (but had lots of wind), on the S26 Original he goes for 3 to 3.5 hours between feeds (no wind issues although he takes the infacol with it) , and on the S26 Gold formula ha was going exactly 3.5 hours between feeds but again, had lots of sore tummy/wind.
I've also heard the Nan Pro something formula being quite good.....was going to try this next, but not for a couple of months or so.
Hi to everyone else!! Sorry don't have time for personals today, but just wanted to tell you that last night was a NIGHTMARE!!!!!! Cam slept a total of 1.5 hours yesterday all day, he was so tired in the evening, he was screaming every 5 minutes....I was going insane. To top it all off, DF took his son to the footy last night, didn't get home until 11.30 pm. I cracked the sads with him when he got home, went to bed and told DF he can do the next feed (expecting it to be around 12.30 am), wee man woke me up at 4 am and I gave him his bottle unaware that DF fed him 2 am (we went to 2 am as he was probably catching up on his sleep) so he only took 40 ml of formula, wee man fell asleep feeding and didn't wake until 8 am this morning. He's been much better today, but I almost lost the plot last night and kicked DF and my wee man out!!!!!!!!!
Hi!
I had such an unsettled little Jayden earlier, cheeky little thing wasn't happy at all but as it was approaching dinner time I put him in the baby carrier and he fell asleep within 5min!! I got dinner prepared and then transferred him on to the couch wrapped him and put him int he bassinette and he didn't move a muscle!! Gosh - I'm so glad I've got that sling - it's going to come in so handy next week when I'm dealing with all the boys on my own!!
b - Big hugs to you...I haven't had a girl before but I know for sure that boys are hungry little hippoes...I hope you can get the formula sorted and he starts going longer between feeds...Its so hard when you don't get any decent sleep...xo
beata - Big hugs to you as well...gosh, sounds like a trying day and night...so hard to deal with it all when your home alone and so tired as well...hope tonight is better for you!
Am super tired after having this headache all day...not feeling too bad now but hoping to feed Jayden when he wakes (due anytime from now) and then I'm heading to bed myself...chat later!
b - hamish spews after each feed and he is on the s26 original for newborns. anyway i had a chat with the paediatrician the other day and she said its normal for babies to spew after feeds. just means that they have either a air bubble sitting under some milk or they are overfull. but in saying that, your little man obviously needs a different formula, one more filling. i hope he goes well tonight on the new one!!
beata - hamish was a little rascal last night. fed him at 1am and he fell asleep so i put him in his bassinett. as soon as i put him down, he became bright eyed!! 3 times i did this and on the third time i put his dummy in. went to sleep after 10 mins but this was 3 hours later!!! little horror!! lol i find that if i rub that johnsons bed time moisturiser in to his chest that helps and rocking him in the chair and patting his bum and saying shhhhh. its what works for me anyway.
hope everyone is all good. we have a friend from QLD visiting this week so it will be nice for some adult conversation!!!!
if anyone doesnt know, kimba had a little boy on the 8th ethan 8lb 11oz!!
Hi!
Hope you and your bubs are all doing well!
~b~ i hope your new formula works for you. It must be hard finding the right one for Ewen. How is your hubby? I hope you get some well deserved rest soon!
Jelly maker- wow! You must have the best baby ever! lol! Sleeping till 4.30!!
Krisvee- I was thinking of getting one of those slings....they sound great. Will have to look them up. Can you buy them somewhere other than online? eg- big w?
AFM- Grace is doing great. She had a hip scan to check if all was ok with her hips (because she was breech) and it looks fine. YAY! My other dd is a real mother hen! She is 9 next week, so she is old enough to help out when she is home. She sings songs to Grace and rocks/cuddles her when i'm cooking tea, it is really adorable to watch! My baby blues have finally subsided and all i see when i look at my little Grace is a bundle of cuteness. I still get a little lonely when the older kids go to school, but, i think that will go away once i get used to it! She won't sleep in her bassinette though! She is straight into the cot...my other two loved the bassinette- wierd!
Does anyone know what the final count of boy/girls was?? I would be interested to know!!
B - so glad the new formula is working! Yay for the sleep in
Hi Ladies,
Sorry I havent posted for a while. I have been following the posts though. Sounds like everyone is going well with their new bubs.
Mine is great so far. We've even had one night where he slept through. Even when he doesnt, its only one feed at about 3ish and then up two hours later for a little bit then sleep til 11 (so Mummy goes back to bed).
I am breastfeeding so DF hasnt been that much help with feeds or night times, but he takes care of most of the nappy changes (esspecially number 3s). Was a bit worried that my milk supply had decreased too much as my breasts have gone down alot since week 1 and Im having trouble expressing anything more than 20 mils at a time. But baby seems to feed well and there is no end to the poopy nappies. Once every couple of days he'll have a spew and so much milk comes out I wonder where he got it all from! I guess he knows how to get the milk out better than I do!
DF goes back to work tomorrow and DS1 back to school on Tuesday, so I'll be posting more and getting a routine going. I think I need a project or hobby or Im going to go crazy feeling so useless
(also feeling a tad lonely not going to work).
Promise to start personals again soon.
B - Tilly is waking 4 hourly from beginning of last feed. Am using S26 gold, but was thinking of changing to original as she gets heaps of wind, and I am having trouble dealing with the unsettled part of wind because I hate seeing her in pain, as it appears.
Sorry, girls MIL is arriving shortly, so will chat later.
Becc
Becc, I also had to change from S26 Gold to the Original formula as it gave Cameron heaps and heaps of trouble, wind and tummy pains. He is a million times better on the lighter Original formula :D
Hi!
Had a big day out today and everyone had big cuddles with Jayden which was nice!! He's been asleep for a while now so not sure what will happen tonight with him after having big sleeps this arvo...hopefully he sleeps all night as well and isn't up too early in the morning!!
Dh goes back to work tomorrow so am a bit nervous actually! I know I'll manage ok but it can be so busy with the 4 of them at times!! At least I'm off to the chiro when he gets home so will have some time out as such!
Con - I'm not sure where as you can buy them - I bought mine at a baby expo thing...l have seem them on ebay for about $30 though- brand new - that's the bubzilla brand anyway...I'm sure they must be in baby shops though...
Your daughter sounds just gorgeous helping you with the baby so much!! How great!!
b - Yeah at having a better night and a sleep in!! Fantastic! Hope he keeps it up!
Insom - Yeah at bubs sleeping so well! Gosh at thinking about a hobby - you must have a good baby there!! LOL!
Hi to everyone else!! Hope we all get good sleeps tonight!! Chat later!
Insom, I'm having the same troubles with expressing, only seem to get a tiny amount and boobs have deflated a bit
Harri has a lot of wee nappies, but it can be days in between his poos, which I'm told is normal for breast fed babies, but I dunno it just doesn't seem right to me, he had his first poo in 4/5 days today and it was absolutely massive.
He's just fed for about 20 mins on each side, after feeding pretty much every hour on the hour all day and not settling in between, except for maybe 2, 10 min cat naps. This has been going on for the last 3 days and I'm really at my wits end. The strange thing is he's still going a good amount of time between feeds during the night (about 3/4/5 hours). I really am starting to wonder if he is getting enough, but at the same time I don't want to stress about it for fear of loosing my milk.
Will come back later for personals when I can sort myself out
Hello ladies,
Thought I'd catch up on some persies b/f wee man wakes up for a feed.
Krisvee, big hugs hun. You must really be hanging out for the chiro app. tomorrow! Hope your headaches get better soon, I know only too well how awful they can be!! Thanks for the info about the sling too, I will look into it :D And I hope tomorrow goes well for you, I know I missed my DF when he went back to work!
Missawah, have you thought about topping Harri up with just a wee bit of formula during the day? Maybe that will keep him sleeping/resting for longer between feeds.....dunno!
InSom, good luck tomorrow too without your hubby! Gee, I wish I had time for a hobby! ATM, I'm trying to find time to have wee naps during the day!
Con, I'm so glad you're feeling better hun! I read a post somewhere about a lady who went through a 'haze' for the first 3 months when her baby was born. She was so detached and couldn't really enjoy her baby until then. My baby blues came in on day 3, but for some time after that I was feeling really low some days. It is getting a lot better now though. Today the stupid hormones got to me when I went out shopping with DF while mum babysat. I just started crying for no reason at all. Very embarassing and poor DF didn't know what to do!!!!
Teresa, hope Hamish settled down today, I hate those rascal days/nights!!!! We had one on Friday, it was HORRENDOUS!
Jellymaker, what's this about a c/s next time????? Get a second opinion hun!!
b, hope your little man sleeps for at least the 4 hours!!!!!! Looks like the new formula is working well :D
Oohn that's as far as I can go back in posts.......sorry if I missed anyone!
Cameron has been better today, slept most of today, he actually went from 11.45 am to 4 pm today!! He is still asleep, his last feed was at 4 pm but had a 50 ml top up at 6 pm. Why is he such an angel one day and the next a wee rascal?????? Last night was better too, he fed at 12 am, then at 4 am and then at 8 am. So very happy about the 4 hour gaps. Fingers crossed it continues!!!!!
Big hugs to all xxxx
Hi Ladies, hope you don't mind me popping in - I've been trying to keep up and reading quickly but actually have time to post now. My brain isn't in gear enough for personals but it's great to see everyone and hear how your bub's are doing.
We're going pretty well at this end, BF exclusively, approx. every 3 hrs which can be tiring, but all seems to be going well. The nipple soreness is subsiding quickly too, mainly just when she attaches. We generally have a batch of cluster feeds too between 7 - 10pm each night where she feeds almost hourly - now that can be tiring! We tend to get close to a 4hr sleep from around 1am to 5am too which is great so I'm thankful for that.
A is so much more alert over the last few days too - just today she was awake on and off from about lunch til 5pm-ish, then cracked it big time and fed off each boob twice over the next 2 hours, and has been asleep since 6.45pm. Why oh why didn't I go to bed then?! Grrrr....still waiting for her to wake up now.
I'm really lucky DH has been awesome and really hands on, not just with her but the house too. He has until Wed off, but is thinking of taking the rest of the week off too - here's hoping he does. My Mom has been visiting for the past week but has now gone home, and DH's family are in town for 3 weeks but not staying with us, dropping in every couple of days. We declared today a visitor free day and it was great to stay in my pj's all day! We are very lucky though that lots of our visitors have bought food and snacks for us.
Better go, glad to see you all and I'm aiming to keep up with everything and everyone ;)
Hi!
Well, this morning is going quite well...bubs was in bed with me when I heard the boys so I snuck out and got 15min before he woke to quickly get the boys brekky...he's had a tiny nap and then a feed and wouldn't settle so I've got him in the sling now and he's fast asleep! So I've now eaten brekky as well so I'm happy so far!!! Now to get the boys lunch organised and at least everyone will be fed today if nothing else - LOL!!
Missawah - Trust in yourself!! I'm sure you have plenty of milk! If he's having lots of wet nappies you can be certain he's getting it from somewhere!! I know it's hard when bfing because you don't know how much their getting but keep at it!! As I've said - I've fed all of my boys and had the same doubts as you at times but just keep going!!! Remember also, there's feeding issues and sleeping issues and they're not always related!!! If he's sleeping well at night and unsettled during the day, try and think of it as lucky and not the other way round being unsettled all night!! LOl...Big hugs to you though...I know it's hard...xo
b - Thanks! I try and be postive...better than the other way around - LOL! I also have been through this many times before now and know that nothing lasts forever! I've also done a lot of personal growth that makes me look at the bright side of life - I have a lot to be grateful for - a wonderful dh who I just love so much and who supports me in so many ways, 4 gorgeous healthy boys who are my life, and a life we've been building for the last 11 years together - each year just gets better and better!!! We both turn 30 next year and our baby years will be over and we'll be ready to move on to the next phase...I'm hoping to return to do some study - Cert or Dip in LIfe coaching for starters, as it's not a huge time commitment and it will be nice to have my body back to myself after 6 years of continually being either p/g or b/fing - LOL!! Anyway, I'm rubbishing on now...but know that I have my low moments like everyone else - it's healthy to have tears and sadness at times and to feel frustrated and drained...it's important to take those moments and turn them around though! As much as we nurture our children, we need to feel nurtured ourselves at times also!!
Beata - Glad to hear Camerons settled down for you -those 4 hourly feeds overnight sound like bliss!!
Human bean - Yeah at the bfing going so well! Well done! Would be great if dh can stay home for the rest of the week! It's such a help to have an extra pair of hands...
Ok..must try and get this baby down to sleep so I can get some stuff done! Chat later!
