Hi ladies!
Ree Ree, good on you for persevering for as long as you did! Breastfeeding doesn't work for everyone, and he got two weeks worth of antibodies so yay! It's much more important that you're healthy and happy and able to bond with him.
Teresa, I didn't know maxalon can boost your milk. Learn something new every day!
Hello to all the other mummies!
AFM, Dad and his wife have gone home, I don't think any of us could have handled any more of her! Thank God we usually see Dad by himself. Indy's doing well, feeding well, still wakes a few times a night. I really wish we had a yard, even a balcony, I can't hang the cloth nappies in the sun!
-
I just posted my birth story if anyone is interested :)
Hugs!
-
rooey - neither did i!!! domperidone is the other one (motilium). u learn something new everyday!!! i have learned so much on the midwifery side of things having Hamish that now when we get pg women in at work, or newborn babies, things will make much more sense when i go back!!
-
ReeRee, don't feel bad about your decision, you're doing the best thing for your little boy, because you are the best mum for him. Good on your for persevering as long as you did, you should be very proud of yourself.
Sounds like everyone is doing really well which is great to hear. We're coming up on the 2 weeks mark which apparently brings about a growth spurt which means some more restless nights.
Harrison is still having problems with wind, it makes me so sad to see him in pain from his sore tummy. Is anyone else using Infacol??
-
b- I'm at Bray Park. Are you in Brisbane too?
-
missawah - we use infacol and it works well for us. i dont use it every feed but try and use it a couple of times a day mostly at night so he isnt in too much pain and sleeps better.
-
I am eating chocolate! I asked the midwife and since I have been eating it the entire time and Tiah is still going well she said I should be fine YAY!
ReeRee - Dont feel bad, you stuck it out way longer than I would have considering the pain you were in! The best thing for bubs really is that you feel calm and content as well.... and screw anyone who says otherwise!
We had Tiah's re scheduled photo shoot today. I am not sure what was different (Me being more confident and prepared, photographer being prepared for Tiah's personality or Tiah being that little bit older?) BUT it was awesome :) We even managed to convince DP to pose for a couple shot with us kissing :o The shoot ended with us posing, kissing and holding Tiah - and you would never know that I have a handfull of baby poo in my hand..... there was no way I was moving to clean it off.... she was too hard to get into that pose!
On a not so good note - I think Tiah may have thrush in her mouth :( Going to take her to the Dr tommorrow to check, might explain why my boobs are so sensitive now?

Hi!
We had our first family day out today for my niece's b'day...was really nice and I didn't even hold bubs the whole time other than to feed him! Boys played really nicely as well so was nice to chill out...I've had headaches for the last 3 days though so not sure what thats about - and headache tablets don't seem to be helping at all...going to book into the chiro tomorrow so hopefully that may help a bit...
Is anyone that's bfing mega hungry?? I've been eating so much but still manage to have lost a bit of baby weight...a week in and I only have about another 3kg to go before I'm back to pre p/g weight (and about 7kg to before I had kids weight...lol) I'm determined that I'll have lost the weight and be fit and healthy by my 30th b'day (I've got until next May so should be able to do it fairly easily I hope!!)
Meercat - Your photoshoot sounds great -lol at having to hold poo and not moving!! Hope it's not thrush but at least if it is it can be easily treated...
b - Lol on the choccy - we've got tonnes of it here as well...I think dh will eat most of it hopefully - it's far too much for the boys to be eating all the time...I think I'll let them eat a bit everyday until the holidays are over and then they can have a break!!! I really don't like them eating too much of it!
Missawah - I haven't used anything for Jayden but I did use Infacol with Dylan and Ethan...I think it helped a bit but they were still pretty windy kids...I hope it helps!
Rooey - Yeah at having some peace at your house! Jayden wakes at least a few times overnight for feeds here as well...I'm thinking it may stay that way for awhile to come!!
Hi to everyone else!!
Well, I'm a week in and so tired but doing pretty well - I must say it makes me even more tired to think that my other boys still fed overnight until 8-9 months old!!!!!!!!! It's a long time to wait until I get a full nights sleep...lol!

Hi Ladies,
Hope you've all had a nice Easter!
ReeRee, good on you hun for switching to formula and keeping yourself sane!! You have done so well hun! I would have given up sooner if I had pain like that! Big hugs hun and remember, b/f is not for everyone!
Teresa, thanks hun. I have given b/f another go today but there was almost no milk in there. Cam was getting very frasturated, and was very happy to see that bottle in the end! I don't think I'm going to persevere with b/f, it's taken too much effort and energy on my part, and I didn't have a great supply anyway. The thing is that my appetite still has not returned, and I think that is also affecting my supply. I do drink plenty of tea & water though.
Rooey, yay for the witch finally leaving!!
Jellymaker, my DF was only at home for 4 days (including the weekend) when we got home from the hossy. I remember being petrified to be on my own when he went back to work!! I now look forward to him coming home so he can feed, change Cameron and I can have a break. Although he refuses to do night feeds, I make him cook and clean the house. Fair is fair!
Missawah, I use Infants Friend too, b recommended it and it's working well now. I thought infacol is for babies from 1 month of age???
Meercat, I had a laugh at the poo in your hand at the photo shoot! Ha ha. I'm glad you've got some nice pics :D
Krisvee, I don't know how you do it with another 3 small kids, you're a star!!
Hello to everone else!
I'm pretty beat today, Cam fed at 5.30 today and then again at 8 pm, I'm tempted to wake him up now for a feed but I think I'm going to go to bed instead and wake up when he's hungry again.
Talk to you all later!
B xxx

b, I used the Karicare Gold from the time he came out of hossy until a week and a bit ago, when I changed in to the S26 Original. The lady in the chemist said that the Gold formulas are quite heavy for newborns and suggested to try one without the fancy fish oils, etc which is what the Gold formulas are. The things is, Cam slept longer on the Karicare Gold (4 to 5 hours) as he was getting the heavier formulation. The downside, was that he got really bad wind and was very unsettled in between feeds especially between the 6 pm to 11 pm time. With the S26 Original, he is a lot more settled and the wind is heaps better, but he tends to wake up 2 to 3 hours during the day and night as the formula is not as filling. He is also a bit more spewy on it. So I'm still looking at changing the formulas, as I need one to be heavier than the S26 Original but one that's going to keep the wind at bay.

Thankyou so much for your support ladies, your kind words mean so much to me :grouphug:
Jelly, how are u going today with your DH back at work? I'm sure you're doing just fine, having Adrian all to yourself! My DH stayed with us in hospital, but went back to work when we got home - his work is really busy right now so he will take some time off later in the year.
Rooey, yippee for your dad's wife leaving  Not having anywhere to hang the nappies sux! Is there anyone you can send the nappies to, to get dried (or even washed as well?!)
Misssawah, so sad to hear the wind is giving poor Harri grief :( Hoping he gets some relief very very soon
Meercat, yay for a successful photo shoot!! at the poop in your hand tho!! The things us mummies do hey.... And hoping that if Tiah does have thrush in her mouth, that it's quickly resolved.
Beata, I seem to have lost my appetite as well, which is very strange for me - i love my food!! I think it's slowly coming back though. Maybe it's a stress symptom? We are going through the most major lifestyle changes!
Krisvee, sounds like you had a nice day out. I get a bit peeved when everyone plays 'pass the parcel' with Blake though, especially if he's grizzling - my FIL thinks he is a 'baby whisperer' and won't give Blake back to me unless HE decides that Blake is hungry! Grrrrr!
Hope your headache is solved with the chiro visit - or sooner!
~b~ I had the opposite night to yours last night! Blake went to sleep just after 10pm and didn't wake til 5am! Lucky I went to sleep when he did and didn't wait up til he was due for his next feed at 12!
He is taking about 100ml each feed as well - we were on 4 hourly feeds but over the last day and a bit he's been wanting 3 hourly feeds. A growth spurt I'm guessing? It's funny how he wakes EXACTLY 3 hours after the last feed, on the dot, so predictable it's great for getting bottles organised!
Took my little bubba to the chemist today where they have a free nurse for the day to do baby weighings, ask questions etc. Blake now weighs 3.8kg and has grown 2cm! Got some free formula sticks and tetra packs too, so worth popping in! Apart from crying when he is hungry, and once when he wanted a nappy change, I have a pretty happy n quiet bubba (for now!) I notice he is getting a lot more aware of his surroundings, his little neck is pretty strong and he's making some different noises.
Oops, i spoke to soon, he's awake now!!

Hi all, flying post because a certain little man is waking up and I thought I'd have more time to write this.
Infacol does say its for 1 month onwards, checked with my midwife today and she said if I'm only giving him 0.2ml at his first night feed and its helping then its ok, but she also said a lot of these things are just a placebo effect anyway.
Also had Harrison weighed today and he's up to 3.8kg yay!!
-
we had an appointment with the paediatrician today. Hamish is doing so well. he now weighs 4.84kg, is 55.5cm long with a h/c of 39cm. they have put him on iron supplements as well due to him being premmie. so he is on that until he starts solids. other then that he is all good. they were impressed with is cloth nappies. plus they said he has gorgeous skin and is really clear!! i felt so good to get a compliment like that and the fact they think i am doing so well with him. yay!!!

Hi!
Had a nice day at home today...Jayden was a bit unsettled though...but seems to be having a good sleep now!! I so need to get an early night - I'm sooo tired!! It's really a bit tricky most days for me to get a nap and I definitely won't be able to when dh goes back to work so I have to try and get at last 6-7 hours total overnight to function!! He looks like he's grown so much already though!
I still haven't heard from my mchn yet which I find a bit odd - I've had no home visit from them and no appt has been made for his 2 week check so I'm a bit annoyed - I'll have to call up tomorrow.
Teresa - Yeah at a great appt! It is so nice to hear that bubs is growing well - very reassuring!! You are doing an amazing job!!
Missawah - Yeah at Harrison gaining weight!!
Ree Ree - I was like that with Louis when I had him - I hated people wanting to have cuddles! But 4th time around it's nice to have a break!! LOL! I agree thought that it's extremely annoying when people think they can care for you baby better than you - or settle them better etc...my family is like that big time!! Drives me nuts...
B - Wow at at the sleeping through of your daughter!! Good luck with that this time around!! I definitely wouldn't be expecting it from my kids though - LOL!! Little hungry men they've been...
Beata - Hope you managed some sleep last night!
Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight!

Ladies, my lil man has been sooooo grizzly today, AND hardly slept at all (he is now way over tired and very windy) I relented and went and bought the infacol stuff. Just gave him 2 ml before his feed, see how we go. Tonight I'm getting a feed into him at 10.30 and hopefully he is so buggered he'll sleep for more than 2/3 hours which is the norm now days. Last night/this morning was a shocker. Fed him at 9 pm last night, I then should have woken him up at 10.30 but didn't, he then woke at 12 am, then at 2 am, then at 4am, OMG the night feeds were doing my head in :wall:!!!
b, I'm confused too about the formulas.....I do have the S26 Gold in my pantry, I might change to this one soon and see how he goes. A friend of mine had her bub on Nan something, she said it was really good for her lil man, but she did try 2 or 3 different formulas first before settling on that one. Trial and error, hey??
Krisvee, I hope you get some good sleep hun!! I am so tired now, I feel like a zombie, and I only have one wee to look after!! lol. I seriously take my hat off to you sweets. I didn't get any rest today, and after last night/this morning, I am well and truley buggered...
Teresa, yay for Hamish doing so well!!!! Little Cam is covered in this funny rash under his skin....they say it's normal in newborns :o
ReeRee, can we swap our babies???? lol. Even for a day???? hahaha
-
b, glad you had a better night last night. Poor DH though.....hope he feels better soon. Something is going around though, my DF has had the sniffles for a few days now, so I thought Cam caught his cold....checked his temperature last night and it was OK.
Well, I had a shocker of a day yesterday as I said with Cam not sleeping all day long. After I gave him the 2 ml of infacol he still didn't settle for a while, then fell asleep at 9 pm finally. I got him up at 11 pm and managed to only feed him half a bottle, the poor darling was so out out it, he almost didn't wake up for his feed. He slept til 3am, then woke again at 7 am. So he slept longer between feeds, but I think it's b/c he was just exhausted from yesterday and last night. I fed him at 10.30 this morning but he was again restless to go to sleep so mum came over and took him out in the pram for a walkie, hopefull he'll be asleep when she gets back. I just want him to sleep today even if it's for a few hours as no sleep makes him a wee grizzle bum (and that's putting it mildly ;)). I give him the 2 ml of infacol b/f every feed and he seems to be farting heaps so I know he's getting rid of the wind.
How's everyone else donig with their bubs?
-
Well... Tiah has thrush :( Giving her the mouth drops is torture (for me) why oh why would they make Cherry Flavoured medicine for babies???? It stinks so bad, and she obv hates the taste.... babies live on milk why not make it milk flavoured?!!?!
I am also feeding from one boob with a nipple sheild now, because I have a HUGE crack and a chunk missing from the nipple! I am lucky Tiah is agreedy little piglet though, she will feed EBM from a bottle, straight from the boob or with a nipple shield, she doesnt care as long as she is fed!
We are trying to swap Tiah into day and night mode, and start a very loose "routine". She has spent the last two days awake almost every hour of the day... but last night she slept for a five hour block after we did a feed, bath, settle thingo... so fingers crossed it works!
I had a bit of a whinge to DP yesterday, is anyone else finding this..... He is helping with everything around the house... but not so much with Tiah. Like yesterday, I spent all day with her and all I wanted to do was have 5 minutes away from her or I would go insane so I said I would make dinner..... but he wouldnt let me! I spent so long crying at him trying to explain that even though I appreciate all the help, sometimes I just want him to take her so I can reset my batteries! He was much better today, he settled her after her morning feed so I could put the shopping away (Coles online hooray!). I feel so bad for wanting time away from her, but I find myself not being able to keep calm after trying to keep her happy and content for hours on end!
Also. Over. Visitors. Especially ones that dont bring me food and just expect to be handed the baby... even when she is obv hungry and needs to be fed.
-
Meercat, sorry to hear Tiah has thrush. And the part about your nipple missing a small bit! Ooooooouch!!!! You poor love. I haven't b/f Cam for a while now, but the last time he fed on my right boob he was sucking without the nipple shield, and today in the shower my nipple was stinging so bad! I used the nipple shield almost all of the time when I was b/f in the beginning, but it was b/c Cam couldn't latch on properly as he had the tongue tie (AND I have pretty flat nippies) but he would latch on the massive plastic nipple. Clever boy!
I have issued with my DF too. I would really love for him to give me a break with some of the night feeds, since it's pretty much formula only now, but his excuse is that he has to get up at 5.30 in the morning and he feels like a zombie the next day at work. He says that I can feel like a zombie cos I'm home all day to recover!!! He is good with Cam though when he gets home. He pretty much does all his feeds up until 10ish at night, so I can have a break. He also cooks dinner and cleans the house so I can't complain, but it's the getting up twice in a night that really gets to me. He did pre warn me about the night feeds ages ago, I thought that he was joking...:o
Oh, and none of my visitors brought me food, ever!!!! So you got spoilt! In the begining I used to dread people always dropping in as Cam would be handled so much I thought he was missing out on his sleep. But that was when he was asleep most of the time anyway. Now he is more awake during the day, and when he gets over stimulated he is a horror to put down to sleep. Luckily the visitors all but stopped now, except mum who gives me a couple of hours help each day so I can have my shower, go to the shops etc.
