Beata whilst I don't think it's common (glue ear) I don't think it's uncommon either. The fluid builds up behind the ear drum, so you can't actually see it. I have been told they can have waxier ears but so far haven't seen any in DD's ears. The GP did a pressure test on both her ears, a machine that blows a small amount of air into the ear and tests the reaction of the ear drum. A normal ear will have a wavy line/movement on the print out. Both her ears were a dead flat line. No movement at all He is really pushing the 'she's probably half deaf/that's why she talks so loud/should get it checked out' angle, but then our normal GP who is fairly low intervention says keep an eye on it, it could rectify itself, and if we don't feel her hearing is affected then see if it clears up on it's own. We are both fairly low intervention ourselves, but many more ear infections and I think we will go to a specialist just to be sure.
