Looking forward to hearing more stories girls - we shared the swollen ankles, back aches and constant peeing.... here's to pooey nappies, sore nipples and broken sleep!

We didn't have a very successful night last night. Bub's woke around 2 for his feed, which was fine. He fell asleep midway so I changed his bum then put him back on. I must have nodded off not long after (we were side-lying down for the feed due to very full BBs). I guess he was so nice and warm and snuggled up next to mum he gave up on feeding. So after only an hour or so back in his bed he was awake again. I changed his bum (a nice pooey one) and gave him a bit of a top-up to send him back off to sleep. Well I got up a couple more times to these big eyes looking at me (he had no interest at all in sleeping). I finally gave up on the idea of staying in bed just after 4 when we sat on the lounge and watched some telly.

    Hi ladies.

I was in the Feb belly buddies group but bubs was born 1st March...so here I am.

Sophie was induced at 40+5days...and she has been feeding well - every three hours at the moment.

She developed terrible wind three days ago...my DS suffered terribly so I went straight into action this time and got onto the infacol. It's horrible watching them scream in pain! Last night was much better.

Overall she has been a good bubs...fingers crossed!!! My DS was a shocker...love him to death...but didn't settle until he was about 5 months old!

I have been lucky this time - only one graze on my left nipple which went in about two days...but I know your pain...had terrible cracked nipples with my son! Ouchy wa wa...

I am feeling really good this time - so much better..and no stitches makes such a difference!!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!!!!

    Talking

Hi everyone to those i know I made it to everyone else big hello

    Lily May Smith born 12.02am 10.03.2010 6lb 8oz
She came on her own the day before her induction date and within 4hours.
Had a good labour(if there is such a thing) morphine had worn off but i spent most of it in the shower, I didnt tear again (had second degree with dd1) and cant believe it was all over in 4 hours

She is so good, feeding well and already putting on weight. dd1 lost heaps and took about 6 weeks to get back to birth weight, so Lily is being pretty amazing. She is also sooo strong pulling her head up and pushing with her legs.
I had forgotten how painful bf is and both nipples have already scabbed over but i know they will get tougher soon. Were on 1.5-2hr feeds at the mo but i am starting to push to 3hrs in the evening.

m2w - Sounds like Sophie is being good too, i think the universe is taking pity on those of us who had bad 1st labours and demanding toddlers im not complaining one bit

Big congrats to us all we made it to the otherside

M2W - I followed a few of your posts in the the 3rd trimester thread. Well congratulations, I'm happy your little Sophie is here safe and sound! I had 2 stitches but haven't had any pain at all since (I had 6 with DS but I also had a epi).

Robert is feeding like a little trooper - or should that be drinking like a sailor? So glad that the nipples are now finally "toughened" up. Those first few days are rather nasty. I asked DH if he minds at all that his nipples will probably be about 2 inches long by time he gets them back

It's a sad day today. DH flew back to Sydney. He comes home on 1 April.... only 47 sleeps to go!

Hi Lis!!!! So glad to hear that you had such a short labour that went smoothly and that Lily is feeding and gaining weight so beautifully! Congrats!!!!! I have been looking out for a post from you. Sorry to hear about the nipples - you do forget how much they hurt (after is becomes 2nd nature with feeding your first).

Cass - Sorry to hear DH away for so many days....do you have help and support from someone else to give you a little break at times???

    Squid - how is bubs???

Sophie had an unsettled morning from 3am - I ended up sleeping her with me in bed! Seems like she has woken a bit so not sleeping as easily, and the wind is playing havoc with her little systems. The infacol is working as she is not screaming but just restless and having trouble settling. Last night she was up at 8pm, 11pm, then 2am, back up again at just after 3 for over 1 hour!!! Then I gave up and slept with her. She wasn't falling straight back to sleep after her feed - so annoying!!! She woke again at 6.45am (but I had already been up with toddler for 45mins). Hopefully she settles again tonight!

How are all your bubs doing??

Thankfully my mum and dad will be heading over on 2 April and I have them for a couple of weeks. I just may keep mum here though until DH gets back....either that or beg her to come earlier!

We had a pretty good night last night. Robert had a feed at 930, then woke up twice for a feed. I find it so much easier if I actually get out of bed: he feeds properly and I can stay awake. I just watch a bit of trash on telly and try and ignore the clock. I read somewhere (think it was under one of the BF threads) about not watching the clock. I find it does my head in if I do.

    Hi everyone

Just a quick note as I'm going to try and get a few minutes sleep while Toby is full and happy!

So nice to hear from you all and to know I'm not the only one with cracked and bleeding nipples and major sleep deprivation. I mentioned to a pregnant friend on the weekend that it's amazing what we will go through for our babies without even giving it a second thought. If anyone else subjected us to that kind of pain we would hate them, not love them more than anything else on earth

Feels like we have so much to fill each other in on! We're doing really well here. Recovering nicely from the c/s and Toby's feeding like a star. He's lost a little weight but nothing the 2 hrly feeds won't fix.

Will be back when i have more time - DD has just got home with DH so better go.

It is DS1's 15th birthday on Sunday. I have absolutely no idea on what to get him. Then on the 30th it is DSS's 15th birthday - and absolutely no idea what to get him either!!!

DS1 and DS2 are on the couch watching Top Gear so I can actually type with two hands.

I had a 2 hour nap today. I lay down on the bed with bubs and let him feed while I nodded off. I woke up just after 1230 feeling loads better. The community nurse is doing a home visit tomorrow so we'll see how well she thinks he's doing.

It's tougher than I thought without DH here. I miss him so much. I've spoken to him twice (both quick hellos) since he's been gone and the emails are slow in coming. To top it off there is a 3 hour time difference - soon to be 5 hours.

Well, I hear bubs calling me. I was hoping to have a shower, then bath/change him, give him a feed then put him to bed. What is it they say about best laid plans???

I hope everyone else is going okay. I'm feeling a little sad for myself at the moment. I just got a goodnight email rather than a goodnight phone call and it's just not the same!

Cass - it must be so hard without your DH home.... feeling for you

Jandals - nice to hear from you!

Ciaran is doing well and just had his 2nd check up with the midwife. He is 9 days old and has gained 350g on his birth weight - awesome eh! The midwife seems to think I make some sort of super milk as he has advanced through the poo changes with at least 1 day ahead of schedule min, and is now having lovely 3hr feeds at night. Its nice to know he is well fed and nourished

My nipples are still sore with some small cracks, but at least they are improving over the past few days.

Our only concern is some nappy rash which looks nasty (few welt like marks) which may be golden staph or something. So when i discovered them yesterday AM I thought he was reacting to the disposable nappies, and have since gone all cloth!

Must say im a bit proud that its not even 2 wks yet and we are sleeping well at night and doing 100% cloth nappies - certainly am doing my best to give this little man a great start.

Hope your all progressing well to
