Squid, I hear you!! DS has seemed to formed the opinion that because mum is home she can pick up the slack and he can be let off doing his chores. Mind you he is a wonderful kid, he just needs a "gentle" reminder (or maybe a kick up the bum). He turned 15 today (he's at cadets on a camp at the moment but he'll be home in a couple of hours).
I really can't wait til DH gets home ... only 40 sleeps to go! I'm starting to struggle with the little day to day things that need doing. I'm feeling a little isolated and haven't heard at all from DH's family (my family are all over in the East). I was just talking to my mum and asked if she would fancy popping over to babysit so I could have a couple of hours of undisturbed sleep. Oh well, only 12 more days and she'll be here. I sleep crappy anyway with DH away so add a very hungry baby to the mix and I don't sleep at all.
Oh dear, I'm rambling.....
Better go rescue DS's birthday cake out of the oven.
Keep gaining that weight Chakotay!!

Hi all,
Just joining you all in this group. Jeremy was born a week ago today - and let's just say I'm a lot more comfortable than I was this time last week!
So glad you're all going well and that Allboys' little one has a clean bill of health now. I would have been in tears as well!
Cass - I take my hat off to you - the fact that you are cooking is incredible - you are one strong woman! Hang in there - not long to go now.
We're going ok - I am having to full-time express so it's been a challenge working that into the routine. I find visitors really stuff up my day because I can't express in front of them (whereas I might have fed in front of them with a cover). It mucks up my expressing routine - I didn't get enough in yesterday. My mum has been amazing though and is giving up heaps of her time to be here and do housework, help with baby and whatever else needs doing. DH is also amazing and doing lots of nappy changes, feeding etc.
I'm really struggling with visitors. It's lovely that people want to come but I'm recovering from a caesar and hardly getting any rest. My back is agony and we keep running out of time for DH to give me a massage. Also, they are staying a really long time which makes things harder.
I think I'm just going to have to put my foot down and ban visitors for a few days while I recover.
Anyways, thanks for listening to my whine - I hope you all have a great day!
-
Hi surprised and welcome baby Jeremy! It is so hard to say say no to visitors but sometimes it just gets too much and you have to put your foot down and say no! You will still have the little one for at least the next 18 years so they plenty of time to come see him and they should understand that you need time to settle in!
I am so glad that my DH is home for the next few weeks or I wouldn't find the time to shower or eat with a 2 yr old and new bub. I am not looking forward to the day he goes to work. I am dreading the day already!
Cass- you must be so strong to be looking after a new bub while your DH is away for so long. Is your DH away for work?
Squid- Chakotay is such an amazing name, do you know the meaning of his name?
Sounds like he is a little trooper and growing well!
Last night was probably the worst night we have had so far. Lennox woke up every 2 hours and just wanted to keep feeding. It felt like he was attached to my boobs all night.
I am also still so sore from the birth and as I had 2nd degree tearing they had to stitch up down there. I just don't feel like they are healing very well or maybe it is just sensitive for a while, I am not sure???
My DH has taken my DS out for the day to Australia Zoo, so I am able to sit back and relax for a while. In between doing all the house work of course.
-
Surprised, you are definately entitled to ask visitors to leave. DH's cousin and her dh and kids came around yesterday for a visit on their way home. A nearly 4yo and 18month old are SO noisy. I was just totally shagged by time they left. Lovely of them to drop by but even more lovely of them to leave!
Deedles, yes DH is away with work. I too had one of those nights with Robert on Friday. I just looked at him and said you can't possibly be hungry!! Plus there was a party up the road so when he would go to sleep I couldn't. I don't know, but maybe he was picking up on me being stressed and just wanted the boob for comfort. The good news is that last night we had 3 hourly feeds and he settled right after them.
AFM - I thought I had all but stopped with my loss - well enough that I only needed to wear a liner. Then yesterday it started up again but a bright red and was fairly heavy yesterday. I also lost a massive clot which I felt come away (sorry if TMI). It seemed to slow down last night and today hasn't been too bad, just like a really light period. I don't know if it's because I've been racing about. Sometimes it's hard to believe that this time 3 weeks ago I was still pregnant!! Anyway, I'm just going to take it easy today and keep the feet up.
Hope everyone's doing okay.
Oh and I agree Deedles, Chakotay is a great name isn't it. Is that Chakotay from Voyager Squid?? I like him - he's nice.
-
Visitors I can deal with, is it rude to ask your family to leave???
Mine are driving me insane. My delightful boys think that all is sweet now Mum is not pregnant anymore. So that little teeny tiny period of grace that they gave me is now a distant memory to the full on fighting and constant arguing they do.
I swear they fight over fresh air its not funny!
Arrrrggggghhhhhhhhh!!!
Peppar however has been wonderful. Im really enjoying her, when I get the chance too that is, but she is just so yummy. :D
We have had a few issues with the feeding thing. She falls asleep after only about ten minutes so I had been unwrapping her, tickling her feet etc with little result. I was changing her bum and giving her a cold cloth wipe over to annoy her a bit and then offering her the other side. She took it, but as a result was only really getting a belly full of fore milk.
Sore tummy and throthy poos later I am now only offering her one side per feed or if she does stay awake to drain the one boobie then I will give her the other one. Fingers crossed that it does the trick as I hate it when she is has bad wind. :(
Well Scout has fallen asleep (so I can turn off Brum now :o) and missy is asleep too so I might make myself some lunch and relax for a bit.
Hoping you are all coping well with your sore ( . )( . ) and sleep deprivation ;)

Hi All
Just thought I would pop over frm the Belly Buddies thread and join this one (if that's okay!).
My name is Claire and I gave birth to our first born 13 days ago (wow, where has that time gone!). Fraser Angus is a littlie! He was born weighing 2660 grams of 5 lb 13 oz. Head circumference 34 cm and length 46 cm.
We've had a few struggles. Fraser was born with a slight tongue tie which we had "fixed" when he was a day and a half old. I went to absolute pieces at the time, but when it was being done, Fraser didn't even let out a peep, so it clearly didn't hurt him as I was promised it wouldn't. After that being done, he had to re-learn to suck which caused a few issues. We tried and tried breastfeeding for the first 5 days, but my milk wasn't coming through and Fraser was starving, so since then, we have been expressing (I only get about 20-30 ml between both sides) and topping up with formula. Since his little belly has been getting full, he is coming on in leaps and bounds and the weight seems to be going on at last!
I have seen 2 lactation consultants and the second one thinks that his tongue tie may have healed a little and we may have to have it re-done. If that's the case, then we'll get it done cos I wan't him to have the best chance he can at a normal suck, normal speech and normal kissing when he is old enough!
Anyway, enough rambling. Just thought I would say hi and I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi everyone just sitting down and finally getting to read this thread:)
I hope everyone and there precious little bundles are doing ok
Hannah is struggling with wind more so at night time , she has her good nights but last night when she was up every hour or so and would not settle even with the boob which she normally falls asleep on and can be put down easy.
the only thing that would settle her last night was me sitting with her bouncing her on the fit ball.
Hope this doesnt last to long i feel so sorry for her, she seems in so much pain with the wnd.
Speaking of the good old 'loss' Cass, mine was heavy at first and now has tapered off to a browny discharge with sometimes more red, does anyone know what its meant to look like and when it will finish etc
I'm freaking out i may have an infection in my uterus or something , what are the signs of that?
I cant believe how quick the time goes, it just shows u need to cherish every moment , i feel like she is growing up and changing right in front of me

Morning All
Welcome Miamunchkin, Fraser is so gorgeous! My oldest son was tongue tied but it took over 6 months for the doctors to even realise. He would cry and cry non stop nearly all of the day. It is great that they picked up on it so quickly!! It is also meant to grow out as they get a bit older which was what happened to my son.
It is great that he is putting on the weight now. I know how hard it is to express milk so your doing a great job!!
Wind is so horrible, I hate seeing Lennox wriggle and pull faces when I know he is in so much pain. Night time for us too seems to be the worst. I wonder if it is something that I have been eating that is upsetting his tummy? Does anyone avoid any types of food when your breastfeeding?
Still feeling sore and yucky, just waiting for the day I can walk around without feeling uncomfortable. I know my amazing lil boy is here with us so I can't complain too much!
I wish time would slow down, they don't stay little for long.

Hi All - I have missed alot!!! Been busy here...was toddler's 2nd birthday on Friday and party on Saturday so busy organsing that and Sophie has had a growth spurt and feeding frenzily.
Cass - Gr8 weight gains for your bubs. My son (now 2) was a boobs man and put on enormous weight - born 3.4kg and 6.5 by 8 weeks!!! Soph is a bit slower!! Not by much though!
Re the bleeding - I had nearly stopped completely at 2 weeks and then a few days later had the clot and have been bleeding more heavily again...but could feel the cramping again - it co-incided with a growth spurt by Soph and increased feeding which must have caused more uterine contractions, i think!
Squid - Gr8 news re weight gains
Deedles - Soph has a growth spurt at 2.5 weeks - feeding every 2 hours again! Bfeeding a lot easier this time too ... but I too have some attachment issues as Soph learns.
Deedles, I hear u re balancing a two year old - OMG!!!! It is crazy!!! DH went back to work yesterday too - so here we go!!!! We are actually having massive going to sleep at night issues with my son! He has all of a sudden just flatly refused to go to bed - he was in a lovely routine before Soph came home! Fingers crossed it doesn't last too long!
All boys - you poor thing! Very scarey!!!
Breesa - Ring ABA - they are very helpful re any breastfeeding issues!
Surprised - Welcome and do ban visitors.
Claire - Welcome and great job re expressing.
Shell - Soph is a windy baby too - just like my son was!! He used to scream at night - for hours and hours...I agree it is horrible to watch. I have put Soph straight onto Infacol before each feed and Infants Friend when she has wind. It definitely has helped. I massage tummy and wind and wheel her legs after every feed as well. I also have her basinett and cot tilted on an angle - even put a pillow under her head when changing her nappy - all these tricks help...so does carrying her around on her tummy over your forearm...always shifts some wind...These are some of the tips I learnt with my son.
Food that caused my son wind were - caffiene, chocolate, dairy (only big amounts) and spicy food. I had to keep a simple diet when Bfeeding. Others don't have to ...but it is trial and error.
ATM - Soph has wind - keeps her up at night! Cries in pain....she also poos every couple of hours...lots of wind with the poo (explosive really) and she cries before each poo...but I think it is more the wind that the poo....Anyone else's bub do this!
Other than her wind and her feeding frenzy - she is a good girl! Much more placid in nature than my son was - she doesn't cry when you change her nappy or bath etc...My son always cried when something new happened! Much more pleasant!!
With the wind at night - last night I just put Soph in bed with me after I tried all techniques and she settled - actually slept for 2x3hours!! Miracle!!!
Toddler is causing all the issues for me! He hates it when I breastfeed and keep saying "Put Sophie away" - having trouble adjusting to sharing Mummy! He is lovely and gentle with Soph just cranky with me.
Night time is horrendous - so much for the lovely routine I had in place before Soph was born!! It is well and truly out the window...Last night he fell asleep on the couch at 8.15pm which is better than 10pm the night before in my bed...He was sleeping in his bed - and asleep by 7.30 at the latest...he just flatly refuses to sleep!!! He want Mummy time...so I think I will try just sitting and watching tv on the couch in the dark for a couple of nights - that way I am not in a dark room being bored to death for hours, I can still tend to Sophie that way too!!
Yesterday was the first day DH went back to work - shock to the system...I decided to take kids to beach - to run toddler (he is such an active little boy) - it took me until 10.45 to get out of the house!! Massive juggling act with Soph in baby bjorn and trying to was sand of toddler at the taps, holding hands as it was near a road!!! But we did it...both kids crying when we hopped in car to go home but both asleep when we got home and carried them into bed and got to have lunch in peace! Maybe a bit adventurous for the first trip...but guess I will get skilled at juggling and organising...just like I did for one (please tell me this is true!!)
Oh - Deedles - re tearing - I had stiches with my son and I couldn't sit or hardly walk for 3 weeks but I felt pretty good by 6 weeks - it was really sensitive for ages - then healed quickly...It was stinging for months though! (probably about 4 - I think just nerve ending when hit a certain spot)...I was so glad I had no tearing this time!
Gotta go
-
Deedles we are having the night time wind problems as well, its so upsetting seeing there little faces in pain.
I have not bene able to tell if its anything iv been eating drinking yet. its so hard
there is certain foods drinks that can make it worse for them but i dunno

Hi everyone. I've been lurking in the shadows reading posts but not had time to reply! Toby is loving his boobies and feeds like a maniac. I feel like my whole day is taken up feeding and I really haven't done much else. He's only slowly gaining weight and still more than 150 gms away from getting back to birth weight so I'm just going with his need to feed at the moment. The midwife wasn't worried as he's still gaining and apparently the growth charts they use are for formula fed babies :o So of course a breast-fed baby will have a different curve. You'd think they would have come up with a chart for breast fed babies :dunno:
I can sympathise with the wind issues and the crying before a poo. Some nights I swear Toby is feeding to help him poo. He just feeds til he poos and then we start again  He's not screaming as much as DD used to but still squirmy and uncomfortable and just won't settle some nights. I find just allowing him to sleep on me helps - not so good for me but at least he's resting and happy. DH has been amazing and sends me to bed during the day when I'm not feeding so I catch up a little then. Feeling a bit guilty that I haven't been spending much time with DD. She seems happy enough and DH has been doing lots with her but that mummy guilt is nagging away at me!
Have any of you c/s mums had any probs with infection in your scars? I've just got a bit of redness in one corner - on antibiotics so hopefully it will clear up quickly. It's pretty ouchy though and I'm really scared of getting some horrible infection that won't go away. Other than that I'm amazed at how well I've recovered - still a bit slow and careful getting around but not much pain at all. I'm looking forward to getting out of the house later this week to visit a lovely friend and her new baby :) It's getting a bit like ground-hog day around here!
Cass - are you okay after the storm over your way? I've been thinking of you this week - must be so hard not having your DH around
Gotta go. Toby has fallen asleep on the boob and if I don't burp him I'll be sorry later.
Sorry for lack of persies - I will be back.
-
Hey everyone,
Just thought I would pop my head in here and see how you all are doing. Tobi is one week today and is doing really well. BF hasn't gone so well and I have decided to put him on formula. I had trouble feeding the other two as well.
Having a VBAC has made such a difference, starting to feel good (as good as you can).
i was reading about babymoon and I love the idea, any one else read about this?
-
hey Queen bee
yup i did the baby moon, stayed in pjs and lived on the lounge for the first two weeks, so relaxing

Hello all
Welcome to the new additions - I will need to get my head screwed on properly so I can remember you all .. apparently im still in la-la land a bit after 2.5wks!
Ciaran had his 'healthy hearing' test today and all is good (no surprises there) so now I just need to heal my sore nipples. Have called for an apptm at the lactation clinic in the hospital, but think i may also call ABA now and see what they suggest.
My persistent massaging (during feeds) has paid off and my sore lumpy boobs are on the mend. Most of the lumps are gone and only a few remain now which is awesome - they are so much less sore!
Hope you all are doing well.. will try and find time for some personal responses soon
cheers,
-
Deedles, just popping in to share the info they gave me in my bf class.....they said oranges and orange juice should be avoided at all cost, any gassy veggies like cabbage, brocolli, cauliflower, onion etc, and especially garlic (it's a killer apparently). Also spicy foods and any stone fruits like nectarines, peaches, mangoes etc.
Hope that helps!
