I will probably be boring and just give Cara what I gave all the other 3 when they started solids..farex rice cereal hehe. Mmmm yum! Even my older kids like the taste of it hehe.
Cara is becoming a real little character. She is a happy little squealer at the moment and just noticing EVERYTHING around her! She's so big for her age and it wont' be long til the size 0s are replaced with size 1s I am sure hehe. Laura was just the same.
Last week I had some portrait place photos done and from the previews, they look gorgeous! I will pick them up in a about 10 days.
I get her immunised tomorrow! Not looking forward to that. She was sooky last time.
BG: Hope your headache is gone. That sux. I have had times where I was sick and just laid on the bed with the baby all day. No fun. Least at this cute age they are happy to just lay there, not crawling about yet hehe
I am not getting a lot of sleep lately. Cara is waking up 2 or 3 times (or more) a night. I'm buggered in the morning. She is teething for sure!!

heading out of size 0's already? wow! you grow them big Cathy! not that it's a bad thing - it's just surprising for me - i expected to have a little heffalump just like her mummy - and she's only just going into 00's now! we even compared her weight to my bro's three kids - yeah, i knew she's be smaller than the boof head boy (though her head is bigger) cos he was always big, but the two girls were dainty at birth, and by 4 months, even the 4 week premmie was bigger than E is now... sigh. i'm glad she is such a happy healthy girl or i'd be worried that she isn't growing enough!
Vic - glad the flight went so well for you. i agree with waking CJ to try and get her sleeping habits back in order - if you were only gone for a week or so it wouldn't be so bad - but when it's a month, you need to get her into the proper sleeping habits for the sanity of all of you!
KL - love the pics of Kyson helping himself to the brocolli - will watch the vid soon - just listening to E on the montor for now - she's in my bed stirring.
AFU - well, i have managed to get the headache to ease, but it's still there. i think my lack of anything resembling energy is rubbing off on E (or coming through in my milk!) cos she wanted to go to bed early last night, and then woke at 2am for party time. thankfully i managed to get her fed, burped, bum changed and back to sleep in less than half an hour - and DH managed to sleep - but i'm wrecked now! my 12 hour sleeper with one wake up seems to have decided being awake is more fun... right when mummy feels like crap - great timing sweetie!
am struggling with some issues from when i was a kid at the moment which aren't helping at all. i've noticed myself actively handing E to her dad whenever he walks in the door cos it's all playing on my mind. i know being run down isn't helping at all, so i'm doing my best to improve that situation. it's just hard and i'm trying to work out how to deal with them properly.
Krystie: Love the pics and vid of Kyson eating the broccoli! LOL! I particularly like the 'growly' noise he made when he was shoveling it in from the table. So cute.
Cathy: The vid of Cara is very cute! Hope the needles go well today. Phoebe had hers last week and I think the only SA was that she got reeeeeeally sleepy for a day. So actually it was pretty darn good, LOL!
Bummer about the sleep. I think it's pretty common at around 4mo to start waking more frequently. Did your other kids do the same? Natty did. Phoebe is waking twice a night now.
BG: Sorry about the lack of sleep for you too, and also with the emotional stuff you're going through. I don't have any advice to give, but I hope you can work out the best way to grapple with it soon.
Naomi: Great looking stats for Bailey
We are going for Phoebe's check-up at the paed tomorrow (the GP called him and he said he'd squeeze her in - I feel kind of bad because I don't think there's anything wrong with her and I'm sure there're sick kids out there who need him... at least it's a one-off) so will post how we go.
I'm finding it sooooo hard to settle Phoebe for a third sleep. Just tried then for about 40 minutes to get her to drop off. She got so close so many times but just kept startling awake. Very frustrating. I really would like her to have another afternoon nap so she goes to bed later and then wakes later. LOL, a couple of months ago I had the opposite problem - she didn't want to go down for the night til too late I suppose I should just get over it and take it as it comes.
Haven't been able to get out for a walk in ages. The weather has been crap here. Today and yesterday were fine in the mornings but we've been out and about then in the afternoon when we're home it storms. At least I've managed to do some washing - we were getting down to the last few pairs of undies
Ah, gotta go. Cranky-pants-no-sleep has lost her happy.

I've been thinking lately about solids for Allira. I'm not planning on starting until she's 6 months old, but I was leaning towards trying the baby led solids thing. Any of you girls doing that? (Krystie I LOVE the video of kyson eating!).
Does anyone have any great websites for me to have a look at? I'm especially interested in what foods should be introduced first... I mean I have half an idea, but wouldn't mind something to follow.
I am hoping doing the BLS with Allira that she develops a much better diet than her brother. We did the mush thing with him and it seemed to go quite well.... until about 14 months of age onwards where there are only certain foods he will eat and he refuses to even touch anything new. Does my head in on a daily basis. LOL
Not alot happening, Allira's not quite sleeping as well as she was a month ago, but she's going at lest 6 hours only grumbling slightly before having to come into our bed. SHe's in her cot now with the side off next to our bed so hopefully once this stupid freezing whether goes away, she'll be happy enough to sleep on her own. She's not a fan of the cold at all, no matter how many blankets you put on.
Hubs and I go away to a wedding THIS SATURDAY and I am beyond excited!!!1 I cannot wait to have a weekend just me and him. It's been so so long. Really looking forward to it and I hoe the weather's nice because I bought a dress which is NOT something I would normally wear.

I know what you mean about the weather. I can do my classes each week, but i really want to get out and walk/have a hit of tennis more, but because it's been so cold and wet, I can't. It's October - Where's the sun??

Well, not much else from me. Bit boring really. Should go and think about dinner at some stage, get the boy ready for bed, lather his face with moisturiser again (he's got bad eczema on his face... it's really weird that it's nowhere else), feed chubba bubba, get some clothes together for the kids and us for the weekend etc etc etc. Oh and the dishes are sitting there calling my name... I'm trying to ignore them though.
lol im actually glad i cant buy one coz that would mean i test early and then be dissapointed sooner rather than later i could just go to the doctor and get a free blood test
Hi girls, gosh I've missed you all so much. Things have been pretty full on for Kyson and I lately. My best friend came down with her 9 week old for my birthday party, and my sister flew back from Austin, Texas (although she had only been there for 2 weeks with her boyfriend, before that she was living in London for almost 3 years). I've been doing a few things with my sister because I missed her so much. Plus, Kyson has been sleeping really badly so I've been pretty exhausted.
I came on and read all your posts today and am determined to get a good post out because so much has been going on with you all! The small fry has just gone to bed, so fingers crossed...
Naomi - Oh sweetness, my heart is going out to you. I just can't imagine how tough ti must be for you right now. I hope Vic can give you lots of good information. It's amazing how well babies cope with trying situations though. When I met Cerys I was amazed at how happy and content she was even with the brace on. She is a little trooper and was fantastic on both her back and her tummy. I hope the ultrasound reveals some good news today, and that things aren't as bad as you think. Bailey is a gorgeous little boy, and no matter what happens in the coming weeks/months, just remember that he is a wonderful treasure that will thrive on your love and devotion no matter what diagnosis you receive today. Amy - Your shopping trip sounds like it was fun albeit a little crazy, lol. I can just picture two little girls making havoc together, but having an absolute ball. Especially when you add a little bit of water into the equation, hehe. Kyson doesn't have much of a routine either. We just kind of go with the flow. I figure that each approach has it's benefits. A routine might make most normal days easier, but I've heard that babies in strict routines have lots of trouble as soon as you change the routine, which would make going out pretty hard. Kyson is used to going out and being out and about during nap times, etc, so it doesn't seem to upset him or make him cranky. He just takes it in his stride and naps when he can
BG - Gosh I hear you on the sleep regression. Kyson has been sleeping terribly for the last few weeks. He wakes after about an hour to an hour and a half after feeds, and I'm constantly trying to keep him calm and quiet until I finally give up and feed him. I've tried to just settle him back to sleep without feeding, but he screams for a while before he finally falls back into a really restless sleep. And even then I can only keep him asleep by holding him and rocking him when he stirs. Plus, after all that works he wakes up after 20-30 minutes anyway still wanting to feed!
Last night was the first night in ages where he went 3 hours between feeds again, and didn't stir constantly in between. And the little gem slept another hour and a half after his morning feed so I was able to catch a bit of extra zzzz's. Good luck!!!
Jacinta - Oh honey! I don't even know what to say You must be going through such an emotional turmoil right now. It seems like things were so different last month, and now this! Just because you are crying does not mean you are not a super strong person, because I think you are showing an enormous amount of strength right now. You are a wonderful mummy and Jamie is very lucky to have you!
Bella - Happy 4 months to Jemima! The birthing experience sounds like it was wonderful. It sounds like your sister had a wonderful and supportive group of people to share her daughters birth with her. It's a shame that her kids started playing up, but I guess that it's better than if they had been scared of what was happening. And in the future they will hopeful treasure the memory of being in the pool while their mum was labouring with their sister. I hope you get to have a few cuddles between helping her out with the housework
Vic - Sounds like you and CJ are having a wonderful time in the UK. All your photos on facebook are fantastic. Your family must be thrilled! Good to hear that CJ has settled back into a normal sleep routine. It's amazing that a little baby can adapt so quickly! Although, 2 sleepless nights probably didn't feel so quick to you, hehe. My sister sounds like yours because my sis never wants to have children, but she absolutely adores Kyson. She even loves to hold and cuddle him (but is happy to quickly give him back if he fills his nappy hehehe). Her boyfriend said that he has never seen her look at anyone the way she looks at Kyson, except when she looks at him, awwwwww! Have fun shopping on Monday. I went shopping with my sis yesterday. I am shocking at shopping for myself, but she is great to shop with. Got myself a couple of tops and some new jeans that actually fit me, whoohoo!
Kat - I hope Ivy's sleep patterns are improving. See my response to BG to hear about my fun nights too, lol. Maybe the floor activity that she is trying to do (and getting frustrated with) is a new developmental thing that is causing the sleeplessness. Hopefully she'll work something out soon and then get back to nice sleeping during the night and napping during the day.
Cathy - Kyson is getting even better at picking up his food by himself everytime he eats. He had cauliflower the last couple of days and it was so cute.

Quick post to update re our ultra sound. I waited for the films (so I can read the diagnosis for the Paed seeing we dont go back to him until next Wed, the sonographer was a bit of a toss bag - told me my job was to amuse/distract Bailey when I was asking him questions!!!??? Anyway, this is what the diagnosis says (I only really understand a little of it)
The coverage on both sides is good, the right being measured at 77% and on the left being measured at 76% (I take this to be fantastic as a Vic told me last night anything above 70% is considered in the normal range so this is good news]The right ALPHA angle was measured at 77 degrees and at the left 64 degrees. While the coverage is good, the acetubular margins remain quite rounded bilaterally. While this can be associated with immaturity, it is quite prominent given Bailey's current age. (This bit I dont understand - Vic does this make sense to you, or Bella can you or your DH put it in laymans terms for me?)
So while I know parts of it sound promising, I really dont get the last bit so that could be crap news, will try to find someone to explain it to me as the Paed is away until next Tuesday, if anyone has any idea - let me know
Will be offline for a couple of days - but just a quick reply Naomi, not sure what it means about the angle bit, but I know that the reason we still have CJ in a brace at night is because the edge was still quite rounded and needed to be more angular - not sure if is the same as Bailey but they showed us on the ultrasound and just said would like it to be more angular (showed us a pic of a normal one too). So if is a similar thing and considering Bailey and CJ are similar in age especially if you adjust because Bailey was early than if a brace can improve the angle in CJ's joint then perhaps a brace for only part of the day could work for Bailey too. The coverage does sound excellent. Anyway fingers crossed for you - my totally unmedical opinion is that the ultrasound sounds like is mainly good news.
Thanks so much Vic - one of the girls from the Hip Dysplasia Support Group pointed out that a variation of Dysplasia is 'Antabular Dysplasia' which could be what reflects the finding from Baileys u/s. I looked into it a bit and it seems the treatment is the same or similar to the 'regular' dysplasia (depending on what site I look on, some suggest its exactly the same thing - ahhh the internet, helpful but contradictory at the same time ). Anyway, I guess it depends on how severe Baileys results are viewed but it seems that some kind of bracing, plaster or surgery is likely Perhaps like you mentioned that when Baileys 'adjusted' age is taken into consideration it wont be quite so bad? The thing that keeps freaking me out is that I continually read that after 6 months surgery and a spica cast for 3+ months (a cast that can be from nipple to toe) are commonly used, followed by bracing. Man I need to stop looking and websites and speculating, but I need info, its one of my coping mechanisms. Bella helped me out today by putting some of the medical lingo into laymans terms for me and pointed out that as Bailey is young/little he still has plenty of time for bone growth (thanks again Bella for taking the time to explain some of the info for me). Its really good news that his coverage is good, so hopefully we learn the other bit is good too.
All in all - I am still none the wiser as to what it means for Bailey, but I am a little more info'd up
On a side note Bailey has thrush again - DOH, I was talking to the Pharmacy assistant about it recurring again and asked if it may be from him putting his toys in his mouth etc that has brought it back and do I need to wash them (wasn't sure if the thrush bug could live on them as thought it would only survive in a warm moist environment), anyway she said to wash/sterilise them, so I did and I have melted most of his toys in the microwave steriliser - DOH!!! I have to laugh! After gymbaroo tomorrow I will go to Big W and see if I can find the same ones to replace or at least get him some new ones!! Stupid Mummy hehehehe
We just got home from visiting my Dad before, got some great photo's of him and Bailey which I will post on FB in the next day or so, he'll be back for xmas so will get to spend more time with him. He was passing through as flew down from Broome to help some friends who were affecting by the storms a few weeks ago (they live in the country - about 600kms from here), they lost a fair bit of house, shed, and other buildings on their property so Dad was helping with the rebuild.
Nicky - thanks for the support Sounds like you had an awesome weekend away, so glad you enjoyed it, its nice to have some 'couple' time. My Mum was having Bailey next Sat night for us overnight but have decided that at the moment I dont want to be apart from him so will take her up on that offer once all this dysplasia stuff is sorted out one way or the other. Wow at expressing 200mls - way to go, thats frigin awesome - you have some serious milk production there!! LOL
Krystie - great to hear you have had some visitors from afar, also sounds like Kysons BLS are going really well. I am going to start adding meat into Baileys diet in the next week or so, he has only really had Fruit/Veg and Yoghurt so far. Thanks for your lovely post

OMG!!! Do you girls realise that our thread link was on the second page today? I have never seen that before. It is because no-one has replied since the 15th..... I am guessing that as it is the w'end all of you girls have been busy with hubbies and haven't had time to write.
I am gonna do an 'all about me' post, just cos
So DH has just finished a run at work and being on that course of 14days straight. He finished on Friday night. Suffice to say we were both pretty knackered by that because neither of us could relieve each other. Jemima has been settling to better sleep overnight, usually just waking once at around 1:30. However it has mean she has had several days where she has gone back to not sleeping at all during the day. Yesterday she literally didn't sleep at all until about 3:30pm and when i tried to lay her down about 5mins into the sleep she woke up. Poor little poppet was rubbing her eyes and quite clearly tired, but there was too much stuff to look at. Today however she woke up at 2:30am and didn't settle properly till 3:30. then woke again at 5 and went back to sleep in my arms till6:30 at which point DH got up with her and let me sleep in till 10am and she went to sleep at that point.
So all in all she is having a good time but the days make it more difficult. She is also quite obviously teething. She has two little white lines across her bottom gums and is chewing on everything. Her cheeks look rosy at times two. Not that anyone else can see the rosiness but DH and I. We can see it because we r so used to what her cheeks normally look like that the slight blush on them is obvious. Anyway she has had a couple of really miserable days where she has been in pain. Panadol helped but didn't eliminate it completely. She is still so little that alot of the teething rings that they make are just a bit too heavy and/or she just has difficulty maneovering them into her mouth. Her hand eye coordination is coming along but she is still so young, too young almost to be teething. I have read that they can start this young tho. Anyway she is pretty happy for the most part despite that. People are always commenting on how content she is. I can put her down and she just keeps herself amused looking at things. She is therefore simply ecstatic if I am looking at her or talking to her and that is very sweet! I just love her to bits!
Anyway I had better go spend some quality time with DH and post this so we arn't so far down on the list! Love to you all
well nothing much going on here except im hanging at mums and yesterday jamie and i had the pleasure of meeting krystie and kyson we went to the baby expo yesterday well with her having trouble getting in and us having trouble getting home jamie was really well behaved and patient and we had a nice day i bought jamie a hat ready for our meet in nov and a few nappies almost full time in cloth still 2 chicken to do it when we go out lol
it was a nice day out and i've finally met someone off BB lol its taken me a while xoxo
