Jacinta, go little Jamie on crawling and having 4 teeth!!
It must look really cute to see four little white buds around all the gummy bits

Naomi, wow!! Bailey born with a tooth...I didn't even know this was possible

Thanks ladies for all the advise....but it was another late one last night followed by a very early morning.
The little man woke up about 5 letting out a massive grunt and started crying...scared the c*** out of me. Ran into his room almost falling over picked him up and he let out a #3....poor guy it must have hurt him so much.

What are you giving your little ones other than pureed pear that can help soften things up...these #2 or #3 are looking too much like poop!!

Nicole - I have given Bailey some diluted prune juice if he is a bit 'bunged' up, works a treat for us. Also anything orange (pumpkin, peach, apricot) is supposed to be good to soften things again according to the Child nurse here in SA

I never got into work today to sort out my return, have been throwing up all day, Sean stayed home to help me with Bailey. I went to the Dr and they reckon I have gastro so hoping it soon passes

Hi everyone

Amy & Nicole hope Aaron and Phoebe get Number 2's sorted. CJ still doesn't ingest that much solids (although I did spot carrot in her Number 2 today) so solids don't seem to have affected her that much yet. I will keep all the suggestions in mind because is bound to happen. Although she does like to suck on prunes so maybe that is helping.

Seems like 2010 is the year for teeth for a lot of us.

Krystie & BG love the new avi's

Nicole - CJ like Aaron would go down for a nap right after her first feed but is equally happy to get up and play and on the odd occasion where I she has gone straight back to bed so I can have a lie in, I find I get all confused then because she normally does a feed, play, sleep cycle of about 3 hours, so if she feeds then sleeps straight away I spend the rest of the day feeling unsure with what she is likely to do next!!! I In terms of missing the time for the hot coffee etc I find I just tend to do it later so CJ gets up between 7 and 7:30 but is back down for nap by about 9:15 so it is then that I get a coffee have a shower etc. For me I love the "free" evenings the 7 till 7 gives me.

Amy - Good luck with the interview but will be back before next Tue to say it again.

Bella - Good luck with the move - I reckon stats wise CJ and Jemima are pretty much the same, CJ maybe a bit heavier now but is two weeks older.

Jacinta - Love the video of Jamie crawling - I reckon there must be a consiparcy between crisps manufacturers and toy manufacturers so that children become in love with crisps from the day dot.

Naomi - I too have been looking at finances trying to work out what to do about going back to work, at moment I am thinking 3 days a week. I would love to not go back at all for a bit, as hated my job, but realistically although we might survive for a bit longer if we want another child we can't stay in this two bed flat forever (two beds with a garden might just be do-able) , this flat could have a baby and a three year old but not a four year old and a toddler, and if I don't go back to work will never be able to afford to move.

Bridg - How cool Logan says mum and nan - we only have da da da da here!

Nicky - Hope Allira's nappy rash clears up. So good that her eating is going so well - I hope CJ turns a corner and just goes for it too.

BG - Hope you are feeling better after your rough night.

AFU - We have a hearing test tomorrow - just a follow up because DH wears hearing aids, and my mum is deaf in one ear - I am not expecting any issues. CJ has to be asleep for it though so not quite sure how am going to acheive that as she normally does feed, play sleep so can't just put her on the boob. They give you a 1.5 hour window so hopefully will drop off at some point - self settling is great until you need them to sleep at a specific point. If didn't have car trip would be easy as she is normally asleep around that time anyway, but problem is will probably sleep in the car and that will refresh her so won't go back off. I have hurt my knee, did before Xmas cycling, apparently my hip has been out of whack so when went on bike twisted it - is a real pain because normally I walk loads. Physio said can take ages to right itself - was first time on bike since 20wk pregnant. Oh over christmas left CJ with parents while went to a wedding so from 2:00pm till next day - was really weird, there were lots of babies there which I think made me miss her more and the table we were sat at were all young drinkers so I felt quite out of place - expressing in bathrooms was hard work - so much easier to feed!

Well, I suppose I expected it but when it happens it's a slap in the face.
Phoebe woke @ 10:30, I waited to see if she'd settle again as she only went to bed @ 8:30. But no, she woke properly and was crying. So I went in and tried to give her a breastfeed but she turned away, screamed. We repeated the process a few times with a break in between, but she was just so unhappy. An unwelcome thought occurred to me... I went and prepared a bottle. She drank most of it and is now happily chatting away in her cot and will probably settle off to sleep in a minute.
I just knew that once I started her on bottles she'd give the boob away. I know it's possible for some kids to do both but in my heart I knew she wouldn't be one of them.

Sorry you are sick, Nay. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow. Gastro sucks. Get yourself some hydrolyte - it is the bomb. Tastes like crap but makes you feel tonnes better.

Amy - HUGS re the breast refusal, I can completely understand how you feel (Bailey crying at my breast a few months back still haunts me!!! ). Keep persisting and no matter what happens from here you have done the greatest job!

Feeling a HEAP better today - almost feel normal ('cept for a sore belly from chucking so much LOL)

Ahhh, the little guy stirs, off I go

Just a quick one - hearing test came back all ok. Managed to get CJ to sleep by start of appointment but they have to stick things on head and behind ears which I didn't realise (as newborn is just headphones) so that woke her up and then no chance of her going back off as she had had her 15 min powernap! So they ended up doing the 9 month old test on her instead, where they play noises and if she looks right way there is a toy that lights up. She did really well and the lady was impressed because she is only 7.5 months but said she looked pretty social so thought might work as going back to sleep certainly wasn't (I tried boob and rocking but to no avail). I was fairly sure all was ok but is nice to have it confirmed and can tell the MCHN all is good (as she kept asking every visit) so she can just focus on worrying about her boof head!!!

Vic - glad to hear (hehehehe) everything is good with CJs hearing!! A quick question for you - re the brace and the security checkpoint at the airport, we are flying to Perth tomorrow. I would assume the brace makes the metal detector go off - did they make you undress CJ or anything, just wondering what to expect

It didn't actually make the detector go off - not sure why I think they only go off at a certain amount of metal perhaps? I had CJ in the Ergo and in Oz they didn't even make me take her out of that (they did in the UK) - as she was only in the brace for nights at that point was only on the flight on the way out that she was actually wearing it through security. I doubt they would make you undress Bailey - I just said she is wearing a brace - but not sure if because of recent issues may have got more stringent again.

Naomi: Thanks mate. Glad you are feeling better - chucking up certainly knocks your body around, hey? I always get really sore hips after throwing up... dunno why, LOL! Makes you wonder how little kids can just throw up all day long and not get exhausted
Vic: Glad CJ's ears are a-ok. Reminds me I should get P tested - same as you, DH wears aids. But I haven't made an appointment for her yet! Hmmm... probably should get to that... or maybe wait til she's 9 months, LOL!
Nicole: How about more fluids? I have been giving Phoebe a little water with meals and more milk today with less solids. She had a much softer poo this afternoon...

Ok, I think the breast refusal and the poo issues are one and the same... maybe. Solids - I think she's been eating too much! I have cut it right back today and only offered the bare minimum at lunch and dinner when we were all sitting at the table and the rest of the day I only offered milk. She refused it again at 4:30 this morning and I gave her a bottle. She refused again at 7am, even though I tried to be really relaxed about it, took my top off, lay down with her on the floor, played, sang... nope. At least she didn't cry and scream at me - she politely declined. But by 8 she was getting hungry so I offered it again then and she took it! Hurrah! I offered a lot today cause I was worried that maybe my supply was dropping off anyway and after a whole night without feeding I was keen to get going again. I think it's kind of inevitable though... especially if I get this job. It will be 3 days / week with bottle feeds during the day. I think she will dump me good and proper then. Anyway, the longer I can keep going the better - formula is so expensive! And I keep having to tip lots of it down the drain cause I can't judge how much she's going to want to drink.

Stuffed if I know what's going on with her. We've just had another episode exactly the same as last night. Only earlier - woohoo. And this time I didn't take as long to twig, so just made up the bloody bottle. I hope she only wakes once more tonight... but I doubt that will be the case. Sigh. Better go and get more bottles tomorrow - I only have two and they are both getting quite a workout.

sorry to hear P is so unsettled Amy - hoping she will come back around to the boob very soon for you

well, i'm grumpy! have let fly a bit on fb, but long story short, GP upset me today by having a dig at our plan of attack for dealing with E's eyes and my concerns. not happy. at least we're doing something!

E also has a bit of a cold/virus i think - losing her voice a bit, sore-ish throat - but the GP was too busy trying to upset us about her eyes to actually diagnose anything! she has thrush too apparently - so we're treating that now. will treat me too just to ensure it doesn't do the back and forth thing

ah well - bubba asleep so i'm just chililng (and whinging - doing a great job of both lol)

Gosh, I've been so slack in this thread lately! I should try to make up for it now while Kyson is sleeping. He's been a little unsettled tonight, so hopefully he'll stay asleep until his 11pm feed now...

BG - Sorry to hear that E has been a little unwell. Kyson got a very slight cold one time and lost some of his voice too. It was really sad, but at the same time he sounded so cute. I was very happy when he got back to normal though! I hope E is feeling better soon. Don't stress too much about the silly gp. You know that you have been having E's eyes monitored and that you are seeing you trusted optometrist soon. You are being a very good, cautious mummy

Amy - Sorry to hear about the shenanigans that are going on with breastfeeding. It must be a really hard thing to deal with. Lately when I thought my supply was lessening I started getting really upset because I really don't want to wean Kyson yet. I can't imagine what it's like for you when Phoebe seems to be making a choice not to breastfeed I guess it's good that she'll take the bottle when you are not there, but it would be nice if she would still let you breastfeed when you are home. Fingers crossed that she'll get the hang of swapping from one to the other for you

Naomi - I hope you are having a great time in Perth. How did you go with the metal detectors at the airport? WHen I went to pick up my friend at Melb airport we had to go back into one of the terminals and they made her take her (sleeping!) baby out of her hug-a-bub even before passing through the metal detectors. It surprised me because I figured they'd let you go through, and if there were any concerns on the metal detectors that they would get you to take the baby out only then...

Vic - Great to hear that CJ's hearing test came back all ok! Sorry, but I had to have a giggle when you got CJ to sleep, only to find out that they had to put bits and bobs on her and wake her up. Typical! Lol. At least you got away with having the 9 month old test!

Nicky - How is Allira's bot bot going? I hope all the nappy rash has cleared up. Kyson has been lucky and never been prone to nappy rash. The worst he seems to get is a little red right after a poop. Recently he also got slightly red in the crease where his legs meet his crotch, but I think it was due to him starting teething.

Jacinta - Lol! How did I not notice that it was a chip packet that Jamie was chasing?! Haha! Good work on the 4 teeth too! Kyson is still waiting for his teeth but luckily we're not noticing any huge symptoms. Just a little ear pulling, a change in the appearance of his gums and possibly a little more drool. A girl in my mothers group has a baby the same age as our bubs who has just cut teeth 5 and 6!

Bella - I hope the move is going really well! I'm sure it's a huge headache. Moving always is. My bestie's husband is in the navy and when they have to move a company comes in one day and packs their entire house for them, moves it all, then unpacks it all in the new place! Gosh I wish someone would do that for me (for free of course!) whenever I have to move
Oh, and I still hope you can come to seaworld with us! I'm just hanging out for the 10 day forecast to see what the weather will be like on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd to see what day will be best, but if you still want to come and there is a day that is best for you, then give me a yell

Nicole - Gosh, poor Aaron sounds like he had a tough time with his number 2s! Have things improved? I gave Kyson some mushed up pear one time I though he might be a little stuck, and I ate the rest myself. Are you breastfeeding? I've hear that if the mummy eats the pears too that it can help... I guess something comes through the milk.
Oh, also, do you want me to add yours and Aaron's details to the birth list on the first page of the thread? If so, just let me know his birthday and birth stats

Hmm, did I get everyone? I hope so. If I've missed you I swear it's accidental

I just have to say again how much I am loving being a mummy. This little boy is bringing me so much joy and I never knew I could feel so much love in my heart each and every day. My Mum was holding him the other day and they were facing away from me, and when they turned back Kyson got this amazing look on his face that said "Yay! There's my mummy!". It just melted my heart. He's such a happy little boy. He's really getting a huge personality now and definitely knows what he wants and when he wants it, and he's not afraid to let us know if he's not getting what he wants, lol. If we pull him away from the tv cabinet (and the pretty lights on the modem and router!) he stiffens his little body and growls! Yep, he's a little growler like his daddy hehe. Too cute!

He's also getting rather proficient at standing without holding onto anything. He tends to stand against something, get balanced, then let go and balance on his own. He's so proud when he does it. He smiles and does this little panting thing while he's concentrating. Then lands on his butt after a while of course

hi ladies
just thought i'd drop in hiwhile i'm watching a movie with DH and E is sleeping - hasn't happened in ages! can you tell it's a movie that i'm half watching, half not? lol definitely DH's pick of movie tonight hehehe

KL - you did well with all those personals! i seemed to get lost if i leave it too long so i do brief messages whenever i can. Kyson is sounding like he is doing fantastically! E is not that developed with her mobility - but in a way, i don't mind - the long she isn't mobile, the longer i have to try and work out what exactly we haven't baby proofed yet! we're getting there everytime we notice something new

i'm loving every second as a mummy as well. even when we're having a bad day, i still feel this overwhelming love for the little person that we brought into this world. she just amazes me every day. last night we put her in her little pool while my mum was visiting - seeing her enjoying the water, trying to splash her Granma, having a grand old time - it was fantastic. will be uploading some new pics soon - but my new profile pic is my precious poppet last night. so cute!

today, we all had a lay down on the bed and snuggled for a while - well, we tried to snuggle - she had other ideas! after having her wriggle and squirm and climb all over us, we decided to come to the lounge to ply. DH was carrying her down the other end of the house and i was following a few metres behind. i made some noise and chased after them - and the giggle was the most amazing sound. she laughs a lot. she giggle a lot - but this was the uncontrollable kind of giggle - it just caught her and she couldn't stop (probably didn't help that we kept doing it for the giggle factor!)

ahhhh, i love my little poppet!

Great minds thinks alike Krystie, both of my men are finally in bed so I can have some BB, FB and ME time

Kyson sounds super cute, truly priceless moment when they see their mumma smile...am sure that there is nothing like it in the world.
If you could add our details that would be great:-

Nicole S (Nicole) May 22nd 11.08am (11 days early) - Aaron Dan 2.8kg)

AFU, the pear seemed to have worked a little for Aaron although I must say this #2 look a bit like play dough????
I am still BF so Krystie I may too eat some pear each day to see if that helps things out for the little guy.
Anyone tried using one of those TT Fresh food Feeders??
I bought one today and think I might put some veggies in it tomorrow I think you can also put frozen fruit as well. If anyone has given these a go I would be interested to hear how you went.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Nicole - i'm pretty sure mum bought us one of those things you're talking about (is it the mesh bag thing for putting food in?) - we haven't opened it. thought about it, but in the end we didn't bother. we have just decided to go with baby led solids with E. a couple of times she's gagged and gotten food stuck - but not often. she is pretty good at making sure it's small enough to go down - or she spits it out. i guess my thought on it is that i don't want to give her a false sense of how things are processed as she chews (does that make sense - i want her to know that she is biting food off kwim?) i guess i worry that, if we do use the mesh, she may become reliant on it and have a lot more issues when we give her food in it's true form...

That's the one BG, and btw you made perfect sense
I was a little hesitant to pick one up but for a couple of dollars I will give it a go and if it's a no goer I am sure it won't be the first and last thing that gets trashed.
