Krystie - I think his attempts at crawling backwards are actually attempts to push/sit himself upright again once he is in the crawling position hehehe, but unfortunately he cant sit himself up again and just ends up going backwards, currently he gets quite upset until we sit him up, even though he is moving about. I dont think he has yet worked out the advantage to what he is doing, hopefully soon he will work it out and make the most of his mobility. I hope everything is ok regarding the stuff you are going through, please let us know if we can support you in any way, you know we are always right here (or a phone call away)

Ahhh, was going to post some more persies, but I can hear Bailey waking, back later.....

So just a quicker one without the persies SORRY!

We are finally nearly unpacked which is a good thing as it has been hard keeping the place safe for Jemima. I have bought her a play pen which is quite large to be safe in when I can't give her full attention but she is very curious and will only stay in it for relatively short periods. I have had to relearn her boundaries after twice turning back to look at her and realising that she had sharp objects in her hands! Once a small pair of sharp toe cutting scissors and once a sharp knife I had been using the night before to open boxes! Both times she was waving them in innocent abandon. I nearly lost my heart thru my throat both times!! Still she came to no harm and I am on a steep learning curve so I try to be kind to myself and not beat myself with guilt. Jemima is just soooo quick!! She is tall and her reach is impressive! Her latest habit is to crawl into the study and stand up against the bookshelves and pull down all the books. Mind you I am there and so she never gets too many down without my stopping her. but she is cheeky!! I say "no " and she turns and grins at me in the most cheeky way and then goes at it again! I try to be consistent cos I know it will help later but still it is hard to do it all at once. Mind you I think I am doing everything better and more thouroghly now because I have to she just gets into everything! I think she is starting to understand no now though. Today she went to put her hand up to touch the bin and I told her no and she stopped. Mind you she tried again about 30 secs later and when I told her no she stopped again plopped down on her bottom and crawled away. So who knows I may be getting somewhere.

We are progressing with the solids. Mostly doing the baby led thing with veggies. She gets excited when she sees her bowl coming now. I have been giving her roughly mashed pumpkin and mashed potatoes and brocolli whole. She is very good with the spoon and I hand it to her with food on it and she does the rest. The only thing is I am worried that her belly is struggling with it. She has been having quite disturbed sleep lately rolling onto her belly and crying at night. She pumps her little legs and has lots of gas! Last night I couldn't stand it any more and gave her pain stop which I haven't doen for ages. suffice to say she slept well but that is obviously not a solution although it gave us all a short reprieve for the night. Anyway I am not sure what to do about it all. Without the solids she had been waking all night anyway to feed and the exhaustion has been building.

Despite all of that her day sleeps have finally settled down and she is sleeping 1.5 hrs at a time, twice a day at roughly 9 and 1.30 it is giving me a respite and when I am really tired I just go to sleep with her. I can only hope after the upheaval of the last moth that her night sleeps may finally settle down too.

Alright I really must go now so love to you all

Bella, don't beat yourself up about Jemima getting into things that she shouldn't. I'm sure it happens to all of us. Today Kyson crawled up to me and spat out a 5 cent piece! I have no idea where he got it from, but it got my heart going just thinking about what could have happened if he had swallowed it! And a few days ago I pulled one of those little plastic square things that hold the bread bag closed out of his mouth. I think DH must have dropped one on the kitchen floor accidentally and Kyson is just a little hawk when it comes to finding things that aren't for him!

Bella - it is very normal for bubbas to have upset stomachs whenever new food is introduced. their tummys are still immature and getting used to the sensation of food - plus some foods just give everyone gas! E has an unsettled night or two every time we add something new to her diet. she also gets a bit more wind with some foods than others. we are just riding it out - she is happy for the bulk of the day, so i think it's only when she's asleep and not moving to help the little gas pockets along that it bugs her. usually she will want a drink to resettle her and when she snuggles in beside me, the fluffing starts lol

KL - so glad Kyson spat the 5c out for you! cheeky little man!

AFU - E is going great guns. she now eats pretty much everything we eat (and then some!) - apart from heavily spiced foods. she has a great appetite, and now makes minimal mess - although yesterday her yogurt at my folks place ended up everywhere - my dad doesn't realise that talking to her just as she is about to put food to her mouth distracts her - she turns her head but her hand keeps going! she is a little piggly wiggly but is doing so well that i just can't complain! went to friends house on sunday for a couple of drinks and ended up staying for bbq dinner. had no food with us for E, so they decided to cook for her especially! she boiled up some veg (no matter how many times i told her E would just pick at my salad) - and then mashed it up. E doesn't "do" mashed veg! she would rather chunks - so she wasn't really keen. she ate a fair bit (they cooked up enough for about 10 E's lol), but was more interested in stealing the sausage off Daddy's plate (and the snow pea from mummy, and the mushroom from daddy lol). she was just such a good girl! they sent the left over veg home with us - i offered it to E twice yesterday, and she completely refused. even spoon feeding herself was a no go - flat out refusal! she was hungry (ate a pot of yogurt after refusing) - just doesn't like mashed veg lol.

we're all off to get our eyes checked on thursday (i need to have a visual field test done as i have a larger than normal blind spot). E's eyes seem to be pretty consistent with the turn, though she has significant issues focussing close up sometimes, so i want to get it all looked at. won't be surprised if we get sent to paediatric opthamologist. hopefully DH can get something done about his prescription for his glasses locally, or he too will need a referral to a specialist - and then we're facing some tough decisions about what to do (chances are he will have to go on the transplant list a lot earlier than we had anticipated)

oh well, happy Australia day to all! i will be spending my day with E (DH working) and just trying to get by. is my grandad's birthday and i always struggle on Australia Day. he passed four days after his 81st birthday (would have been 90 today) so this week is a bit of a write off emotionally. He would have adored E but she never got to meet him. she is the only kidlet from of all my cousins and I that never got to meet any of her great grandparents. it's very sad. i had my great nan til i was in my mid 20's - she won't have that - she only has one set of (very unhealthy) grandparents... sigh

Happy Aussie Day everyone!! Hope you all have a nice day!! I took the kids to the park to feed the ducks this morning. It was fun.

I know I haven't been on here for awhile...sorry about that. Cara is growing up so fast! She is so close to crawling now..up on all 4s. She loves to wave, shake her head for "no", bop to music, and eat solids twice a day. Maybe I should make it 3 meals now? She started at 6mths. I rememebered today that my friend told me you could make your own rusks out of bread. So I cut the crusts off some bread, rolled it up tightly and put it in the microwave for 40 seconds or so. Waited for it to cool, and it was the perfect rusk for Cara! She is sick of the other rusks now...just throws them on the floor.

We are off to Seaworld next week...looking forward to meeting Belinda and Krystie!

Cara now has 4 teeth through..hope the teething necklace arrives soon.

Gtg...she's tired. Hope all the bubbas are doing well.

Hi girls. Sorry, quick one from me just to say hi and I have been reading. Just finding it difficult to get time to post then of course the longer I leave it the more there is to write!
Phoebe wasn't well last night - another temp, not sure how high because my thermometer is broken, but she was very hot to touch. I was up with her every hour on the hour from 11:30, except for 3:30 and 5:30 - she let me sleep for those ones, LOL! I am wrecked and am about to go to bed because they are both asleep. Yay!
Anyhoo, hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday today, though BG I am sorry about your grandfather - today must have been very hard for you. Thinking of you, mate.
Much love to you all and will be back sometime soon for a decent post.

Hi everyone, the IL's arrive in a couple of hours for five weeks (luckily going along Great Ocean Road and Tasmania for some of that time) so wish me luck I will be fine is DH I worry about, he is too like his dad sometimes. CJ has started moving herself around by pushing herself backwards on her front and turning three sixty degrees is a taste of things to come as she is never where you leave her now. Food is going well too, but I am getting a bit bored of the number 2's does everyone else's bubs poo more now on solids?

Amy - Hope Phoebe feels better soon.

Cathy - Great to see you in here again, always love your photos on FB - the collage you put together of Yassie today the one on bottom right looks so like Laura. I think CJ is getting her third tooth, top left, we have a necklace but she didn't have many issues with first two so not sure if that is helping or not.

BG - Hope all the eye stuff goes ok tomorrow.

Bella - A friend of mines bub struggled every time they introduced a new food, which led to disturbed sleep but she is approaching 1 now so has tried most things and it all settled down.

Krystie - I can just imagine Kyson's cheeky little face spitting out the 5 cent piece. The other day got an update on facebook about friend in UK and someone called Kirsty Love had commented on her post - I had to look twice because at first I thought wow how does Krystie know so and so. I thought perhaps the platinum area wasn't google -able? Hope things are ok and let us know if we can help you out at all.

Jacinta - CJ quite likes hot chips too, I offer her one when we are eating out sometimes as they are not too messy.

Naomi - Great Bailey is on the move. Loved your Australia day pics of him

Nicole - With the sleeping bags like the others say as long as can't get head down into head hole no issue, some of CJ's look a little big but can't get over her big head :-) and she isn't much of a wriggler when asleep anyway (I think due to the brace she had)

Bella - Arrrrrrgh re losing the post, did you want to cry? I have done that a few times and it is sooooo frustrating! Re the solids and pooping and belly adjusting, I think its very normal. I have had constipation issues on and off with Bailey since on solids and its just a matter of working out which foods their digestive system is ready for and which ones to hold off on - if it helps we have found banana, potato and weetbix a bit unfriendly so far. As far as I understand their digestive systems are still developing at this point so its all trial and error, sounds like you are doing a fab job to me!

BG - Grrrr re people thinking they know best what to feed your baby, but I guess they were only trying to help. While Bailey would have LOVED the mashed veg, we have gone down the traditional baby food route, but with E being so happy with her BLS it wouldn't have seemed appetising to her at all, LOL that they sent you home with it!! My Dad gives Bailey stupid things to eat - crackers (prior to us introducing finger food) and dipped Bailey's dummy in his beer etc. Dad just laughs when I tell him off (which sh*ts me a bit to be honest) and gives me the old "oh it didn't do you any harm" line to which I replied "well it didn't necessarily do us any good either". I lightened the mood by saying "look, I respect how you raised us, after all I'm pretty damn great (sic), but respect that I might have different ideas and let me make these decisions as Bailey's Mummy" - he was pretty happy with that. Sometimes him living in Broome is good (eg otherwise Bailey would have his dummy soaked in honey, be eating peanuts and god knows what else hahahaha). Hugs re your Grandfather - no doubt he knows all about E in his after-life and thinks she is as sweet and adorable as we do!

Hey Cathy - Hope Yassie's first day of high school went well! She looked lovely in the photo's you posted on FB - all your kids are gorgeous We have Bailey on 3 meals - Breakfast at 8am, Lunch at 12pm, Dinner at 5pm (with 4 milk feeds thrown in at approx 630-7am, 1030-11am, 3pm and bedtime). Bailey loves his solids, not so excited about the milk, but never has been keen, even when I was BF'ing. Oh I LOVE Seaworld, I wish I was going with you guys! When we went up in Nov it was my favourite theme park, the Sesame Street Beach ROCKS!! Have the greatest time!

Amy - Hope P's temp is down, and that you get some sleep, I hear ya, last week I was in 'wreck' mode and I remember typing "This too shall pass" and it did - thankgod!! Don't worry about catching up on the persies, after a while you just need to start afresh and enter the convo LOL. Hope all the job hunting is going well too.

Vic - you are so darn creative with your projects. I finished making Baileys pants, but alas they are quite big. The whole point of me making some was so he DIDN'T look like MC Hammer - but they are so baggy he just looks like he has "Hammer-pants' LOL. I have put them away for now, they should fit in a few months, so the last few months of his brace days. I can't be bothered making another pair, the project was harder than I thought, and although apart from my sizing it was a success, the time involved wasn't worth it! I should take a pic and add it to your photo-jects page for a laugh though hehehehe. Good luck with the ILs visit! Hope it all goes well

Jacinta - hows work going? Have you done many shifts yet?

Well we seem to be going well with finger food, our recent convo on what the babies were eating gave me some ideas and I gave Bailey a cruskit - Love it and ate the whole thing, a lamb chop on Australia Day - sucked all the flavour out of it and gummed a bit of the flesh, Watermelon - loved it but very slippery, strips of capsicum and cucumber - picked them up, put it to his mouth, screwed up his face then dropped it to the floor LOL. Still loving toast and rusks. What else should I try? He seems really good with chewing things first, luckily we haven't had any choking issues (yes, I just knocked on wood).

DH suggested that when I am working from home later in the year that I have the MIL over to look after Bailey while I am working, and perhaps they can take him out. I reminded him that I am working from home so MUMMY can spend time with Bailey. I'm really not keen on the idea, I left it at a "We'll see". I think he feels bad as my Mum is our babysitter which I understand, but its not a competition, nor must we keep tabs on equalising time, each relationship is different. My Mum is having Bailey overnight as we have decided to give ourselves a night off - no special occasion, we have been meaning to do it for ages, then all the brace stuff happened, and christmas etc. So anyway I have booked us in for massages, made dinner reservations at our favourite Indian Restaurant, and my mum is super excited, I still feel a little guilty, but I will enjoy it. I miss him when I am away from him even for a few hours, and as I am soon going back to work I feel like I should be making the most of our time, but Mummy and Daddy need some time too! Bailey loves his Nan so he'll be happy as a pig in mud!

Well I just ordered Baileys photo book. I have had to break it down into 0-6 Months, and 6-12 Months as the software I am using wont allow me to add all the extra pages I want (and I am NOT starting again with different software), so anyway, just ordered the 0-6 Month one as they had a special going, I cant wait to see it. I was re-living the first 6 months as I read through it all while spell checking and gosh its amazing how much has happened. How did we survive those sleep deprived first months?

Better go, DH just drove in from band practise so might go say Hello

    Hey Girls!

Krystie & Bel: Oooh so looking forward to Seaworld..I haven't been in 15 years!!! I hope we don't get any rain from the cyclone up north though.

Naomi: How much is it for a photo with the Seasame St person Naomi? Bailey's pic was sooo cute!! Yassie had a great first day of school! Small classes too. Ronan had a good day back too (year 6 this year). Little Laura will be in the same school with him next year when he is in his final year there (we have high school year 8-12 here). Cara has been a bit off her solids this week, but loves my hand made rusks hehe I'm offering her food 3 times a day now. 8mths old on the 31st..can't believe that! Hope the massage and dinner out was great! You must have a good hubby there, hang on to him.

Vic: Love your photos on FB too (in fact I love EVERYONES baby photos..so cute! Gives me ideas too hehe). And I see so much of Yassie in Laura when I see old photos of her as a little girl. I do a double take sometimes when I look at old photos of Yassie. Laura got really upset one day when I was flicking through Yassie's album and I told her it was Yassie. She was like "No!! That's me!!" LOL

Amy: Hope P is feeling better soon and will sleep well for you soon! Cara still wakes up once a night..sometimes twice. This heat does not help.

Jacinta: Your little Jamie is really on the move now! Love the pics you post

BG: Sounds like E is going great guns with food and talking! Cara only says "Dadda", and "Gurri Gurri" (which I believe is "Good girl"..Mum said I said it as a baby too). I THINK i have heard her says "Mum" once or twice when whining..but not sure. Good luck with the eye tests!

Cara loves her dummy. I have never had a baby that took to the dummy like this one. Yassie and Ronan weren't dummy babies, Laura gave it up at 5mths (though in hindsight I just think I stopped giving it to her). All the other 3 went to sleep on the breast...which ends up giving you nipple damage in the long run..so not great. They tend to chomp down in their sleep too. So probably good that Cara has a dummy i guess. Though I find it hard to get her to sleep without putting her in the pram or putting her on my chest to sleep.

Oh Cara did her first big tantrum cry earlier. Yassie told her "No" to what she was sucking on and she burst into tears..the type where the cry is nothing coming out at first (just a big open mouth about to cry)..and then "Wahhhhh"..and then..there were full on SNOT BUBBLES!! and REAL TEARS!! omg..never seen her like this before hehe. We couldn't help giggling, but feeling sorry for her at the same time hehe

Have a great week girls!! I love seeing all you guys on facebook.

I think it was around the $10-15 mark for a 15x20cm print. There were two photo sessions during the day with different characters, and the photo's were available about an hour later - They have a Sesame Street show twice a day which Laura and the babies would LOVE (Unfortunately Bailey was asleep when we were there hahahahaha)

Naomi - Have you seen the Roomies pants in Bonds (apologies if they are old news just I had never seen before) - not sure if wide enough for Bailey or not but size 0 looked quite wide. Please ad the pic of your pants would love to see them, MC Hammer was cool once remember!

Vic: Oh yes, I am sick to death of pooey nappies. Now that P is on solids she is pooing a lot and they are often big ones like Natty produces! I so badly want Natty out of nappies so I don't have to clean up as much, LOL! Great that CJ is on the move. Phoebe does the same, goes backwards and rotates. No crawling here yet.
Nay: Yes, I remember you were having dramas last week. Glad Bailey has settled again for you. Last night wasn't quite as bad, but still was pretty crap. At least she settled with cuddles most of the time and only needed feeding twice.
Great with the finger foods! I think just try whatever. Steamed veg, meat strips, grated cheese. Phoebe is doing both mush and finger foods too. She also loves cruskits, and tends to have one at morning or afternoon tea (if she is awake). She has her main meal at lunchtime which is usually spoon food (today was beef and veg mash out of a jar cause I was feeling lazy... and tired, LOL) and tonight she is having sliced cherry tomato, grated cucumber, avocado chunks and strips of ham. Very messy, but she's happy to just pick at dinner time. After this I will feed her a little yoghurt to fill any empty spaces - we don't have to try hard to get her to eat yoghurt, LOL! She has a separate dessert stomach like her mum
Cathy: You are right, Phoebe is much more unsettled in the hot weather. Even though it has cooled down here a bit it is still sticky and humid which is very yuck! Phoebe also wakes once or twice a night usually but the last couple of nights she has been particularly unsettled. I am hoping tonight will be better.
Neither of my girls have been into the dummy. It is odd, as I have nothing against them and tried it with both. Phoebe feeds to sleep and that works very well for us. Sometimes she will self-settle but only occasionally and only when she has a full tummy.
Have a wonderful time on holiday!

Sorry everyone else, I am still struggling for time, so know that I've been reading up and am thinking of you.
I need to get this out though. I am really struggling with Phoebe atm. She cries every time ANYONE leaves the room and it is out of the question to expect her to entertain herself unless you are RIGHT THERE with her. It is really getting to me, and today I nearly lost it. Is anyone else being particularly demanding atm? I am wondering if it is her personality (dear God, please no), or a developmental phase (hopefully) or maybe due to some kind of sickness or teething... I am really hoping that whatever it is it is short-lived cause I am just about jack of her crying the day away because I'm not holding her every second.
    Phew. Thanks for that. xx

    Hi girls!
I've been busy aswell... sorry I haven't been in. I get about 3 minutes to update my FB status and then I'm gone again.
Had MCHN today and Allira's put on 2.2kgs in 4 months. Also grown 10cms in length adn her heads gotten 3.5cms bigger. MCHN was very impressed with her and then she decided to show off and stand up in the middle of the room on her own, without the aid of anything, with a big cheesy grin on her face.

We've just found out that FIL has shingles and we were all over at their place all day yesterday! haha Joy.
I think the kids will be ok... Lachie's had his vax for it, so he should only get it mildly if at all, and he's the only one who had contact with FIL. Hoping Allira doesn't get anything.... apparently the nurse from nurse on call said that if Lachie had some of the fluid from FIL on his hands and touched Allira, then she could possibly get it.
I'm so flat out busy this weekend too. Will have to talk to hubby and maybe call the GP tomorrow and see if we'd still be able to do what is needed. The kids would go from here straight to my folks who have had CP, and it would only be hubby and I that are out and about and we've both had CP. From what the nurse said, that should be fine. As long as we keep the kids away from other kids and pregnant ladies which I would def do for sure, and my folks live out of town aswell which is good. Will see what Gp says anyway.

Ok gotta go. Someone's screaming again. It never ends! haha

    xxoo

Amy: Some days are really tough. I find that Cara demands my attention a lot too. If I am out of the room she will cry. Very frustrating isn't it? I've struggled with the broken sleep for 8mths now..but Laura was the same. I kind of wish I had not given her a dummy now too, as I have to get her to sleep...though it's kinda sweet to cuddle her to sleep. Just remember that it will pass. If you ever want to chat I'm often on facebook.

Bailey is pretty clingy too, if I leave the room, generally I have to sing so he knows where I am, or take him with me, otherwise he cries. I used to think it was brace related as this become more obvious to me when he got it on, as previously I could pop him in his jumperoo and nick off to make the beds etc and he would happily amuse himself..... but perhaps he just loves me so much he cant bare to be apart LMAO!!
I get ya though Amy - its bloody annoying, especially when you just need to duck off to the loo or sort out the nappy bag etc so we can go out......
LMAO @ the seperate dessert stomach - I DEFINITELY have one of those!!
Nicky I noticed the change too - nice, everyone still knows who you are and you got Allira in there - impressive!! Nice work with the standing. I've heard of shingles but can't remember exactly what it is?
Vic - hadn't seen the roomies pants, off to google them now, thanks for the tip mate!
Cathy - cant wait to see Laura and Cara's Sesame Street pic from Seaworld!! Bella and Krystie - you have to get one too!! LOL

My mothers group (there is only 3 off us left) took the babies to a playcafe today and they LOVED it (and Bailey had a nice long sleep after - BONUS), I took lots of photo's. It only opened a few months ago and we will definitely be taking the kids back on a regular basis (and they make Lime milkshakes - YUMMO!!). I posted a million pics on FB
