I can't keep up with you ladies.....chatterboxes hehe
Cara is clapping!! Well sort of...it's a very soft clap so far. Give her time hehe
She points ALL the time at everything! She points to the car, outside, her siblings. And today she was pointing at a flower on a pillowcase, so I said to her "flower"... It's a cute way for them to learn things I reckon hehe
Cara sounds like she is saying "titi" (I call it "tittie") I say to her a lot "Is it tittie time?" LMAO
I've been staying up way too late..midnight already...shesh. Will try and write more tomorrow.
I was removed from Raindrops facebook friends too...unless I culled her too?????
Naomi: Yay for a good first week! Enjoy the cuddles when you get home!
Nicole: Getting my 3rd online shop on saturday from Coles. My car has problems...it's missing. It is not good to drive, think it is going to stall all the time at the lights. So glad I can shop online til I can get it fixed.
Vic: I am sure my other kids were closer to 10mths til they crawled, and I always thought they were a bit slow to learn. But they got there in their own time. Cara is actually the quickest I think. She was sitting up well at 6mths too (when the others ..it was 7mths).
You know how you know your (almost 4 yr old) is growing up? She says "Mummy I like your show" (two and a half men!) LOL
More tomorrow...

Hey mummas, just to let you all know that I will be MIA for a week as laptop is going to get fixed today... What am I going to do without my BB and FB fix :wall: :wall:
Will text Bridg and Naomi with Aaron's results for his test next week ( hope that is ok ladies ;) )
So I hope you all have a GREAT weekend and will try and log on at my parents place next week.

We got good news, and then bad news today. This morning we found out that all 7 of the eggs that fertilised were looking good and all 7 would be biopsied. That was the good news. This afternoon we got the results of the biopsy. They were able to get results for 5 of the 7. All 5 had chromosome problems :( Of the other 2, one of them they weren't able to get any results for (limitation of the test), and the other one was apparently smaller than the others and had a fragmented nucleus. They said we could still transfer the one they couldn't get results for, but with 5 out of 5 that were tested having chromosomal problems we aren't willing to risk it :( Rather devastated. Everything was going so well and I was sure that it was all going to work out perfectly this cycle. I never imagined that chromosomal problems would be the problem. I mean, I'm healthy and young, I thought that the embies would be healthy...
I guess we just start back at the beginning again and start a new stim cycle...

oh hun - i'm so sorry! this is the crappiest part of IVF/PGD. i wish i could say something profound but it's pointless trying now. if you need to talk, i'm online a fair bit (out tonight, but home the rest of the weekend), or you have my number
i'm so very sorry Krystie. this is just crap.
-
Big big big hugs Krystie. I cannot imagine how you are feeling right now.

Thanks for the hugs girls, I've definitely needed them. I just can't believe that all 5 out of 5 embies that got results had chromosome problems. One of them only had one X chromosome, and no other sex chromosome. The lovely lady said if I wanted to talk to her again I can call and speak to her on Monday. I think I might call and ask what the problems were with the other embies. I just feel like I need to know.
I can't help but think that if we had been trying naturally that this sort of rate of abnormality may have resulted in 5+ months of BFN's or even miscarriages! While I'm really upset, a part of me feels like at least we haven't "wasted" time. I'm also refusing to think of the costs as "wasted money"...
Kyson got a bazillion hugs this afternoon. Well, a bazillion more than the bazillion he already gets. I told him that although he's going to have a wait a little bit longer to be a big brother, he'll get to have another Christmas all to himself.
I guess this also gives me a bit more time to try to get his sleeping habits under control. DH has mentioned "sleep school" again, and once again I've shot the idea down. DH is only suggesting that we need to do something because he's worried about how I'll cope with the numerous wakeups each night when I'm pregnant. Kyson has gone from 3-3.5 hour feeds, to 2 hourly feeds. I wake each morning with empty breasts! But if I don't feed him he just screams. I don't know what to do. I know that he doesn't need feeding 2 hourly at night (gosh, he goes probably 4 hours during the day), but I don't like to hear him screaming, and I feel sorry for DH if Kyson wakes him because he has to go to work in the mornings. It just seems easier to feed him and put him back to bed. But what would be even easier would be if he learnt to just sleep longer!
-
Dear Krystie- have you got the "no cry sleep solution"? I bought it and need to read it again but the mum who wrote it teaches a technique to wean them off of sucking to sleep. It sounds to me like Kyson just really wants the comfort of boobies to sleep with. It helped us with some stuff but I really need to go back and read it again cos we r still having some issues, but it did reduce our night time wakes by half so that was good.
I hesitate to speak to the issue of IVF and how you must be feeling. As I have never had either a mis or been thru IVF but I really do want to help. I don't know if it will or not tho. I am sorry for you darling that things haven't gone perfect as we all hoped for you. I think that you put your finger right on the button when you mentioned all of the BFN and miscarriages you might have suffered. In my work I have held the hands of so many women who have miscarrriaged that I have lost count. And those where only the ones who knew about it. They estimate that at least 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage and they think it is so much more. Life is such a miracle and we all know that looking at our perfect bundles. I think that it is much harder these days to cope with the loss of pregnancies than it was for our mothers as we know about them so much more. My sister tested for pregnancy 8 days post ovulation and came up positive. She still grieved when her period came on time..... Who knows whether that might have been the boy amongst her 4 girls. Anyway I guess I am trying to say don't over analyse whether there is something wrong with you or your eggs too much just yet. I doubt that I could resist calling up to find out what was wrong either, just dont lose your trust in your body. You ARE young and you ARE healthy, you just know there was a problem this time that is all. Most women take 6-12 months to conceive normally. Don't let technologies advanced knowledge corrupt how you view your body. You are perfect and you body knows how to conceive. It will make the most BEAUTIFUL baby when it is good and ready to darling. You can hurry it all you want but it knows it's job and it will do it really well for you very soon. All my best thoughts for the perfect little egg that is just waiting it's turn. Love you Krystie.
Bella

So sorry, Krystie. Thinking of you, mate. xx

Krystie - was laying in bed last night thinking about you and thought of some other stuff that i know of PGD. when your embryo's are put through PGD, they look at all chromosomes. not just the one that carries the anomaly you carry. as you mentioned, one embryo did not carry one of the sex chromosomes, others weren't perfect. in a lab, they require perfection. they would look for your known anomaly, but also look at translocations (parts of chromosomes that have moved) - in nature, translocations occur with no drama. that's how we have evolved and become what we are. they don't necessarily mean that your body (or DH's) are doing anything wrong - just that the embryo's weren't scientifically perfect - and when you're going through this to avoid something occuring, the result they are looking for is perfection (genetically speaking)
i thought of this because i was thinking of Melbel (member here) - she suffered multiple miscarriages, ivf failures and moved to PGD. there was no genetic basis as there is in your case - they simply needed the best quality embryos due to their history. after numerous "perfect" embryo's being transferred (which failed) they had a natural pregnancy but there was a genetic anomaly with that bubba (two sperm got in) - they went back to IUI and now have an 8 week old son. they don't know how genetically perfect he is - but the perfect embryo's they put back didn't make it so i guess it doesn't matter
my point after all that waffle? check with them whether your five embryos showed signs of the genetic anomaly you are trying to avoid, or were just not perfect. find out what the issues were and whether they were incompatible with life or whether, when you go through this next, those that are good but not perfect, can still be transferred. in normal IVF you don't know how genetically perfect embryo's are and many of them take (even the "runt" embryo as was the case for me) - so ask as much as you can
i hope you are getting lots of Kyson snuggles at the moment and are feeling ok today. tomorrow will be hard as you make your enquiries - we're here to support you

Krystie - I am so sorry to hear your news honey, that just plain sucks. You are right, its not wasted time or wasted money, its just the start of this journey, one that unfortunately has ups and downs. You are a brave strong woman and although it probably doesn't feel like it now, you will get your BFP and baby, but perhaps not on your timeline, instead this little angel waiting in the wings to become a life will come along when they are good and ready. But for now, cry, grieve and direct all that love you have waiting to give to your next child to Kyson, and start again when you feel ready. I wish I could come over and give you a big hug, let you cry on my shoulder and then we'd drink lots of cups of tea and eat fairy cakes and have a massive chat to help you through this tough time. I agree with Bella re having faith in your body, but I also wanted to add that under the circumstances of using AC its very important to have faith in the miracle of reproductive technologies too, and talk to your doctors and support people at your clinic as I found that if I understood everything and asked questions etc, It helped me through the process.
BIG HUGS beautiful girl
Nay

PS. Give Kyson a big smoochie for me x

Ooooh, I just read BGs post - great advice as usual babe
-
Oh Krystie am soo sorry
BG gave some great advise and hope this week brings you some answers.
Still of-line ladies just at mums needing a FB and BB fix.
Naomi, I sent the eggs on Friday so you should get them early in the week :)

Krystie- Huge huge hugs sweetie. I can only imagine what your feeling at this time, and you know that we are all here for you if you need us. I don't really know what else to say.
Have been reading posts, but haven't replied as it always seems like when I get started, I get interrupted, so just letting you know I have been lurking, and thinking of you all.

Bella - I haven't got that book, but I've been told some of the "crucial" tips from the book. We tried for weeks to have a set routine for him at bedtime, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I have a feeling that the feeding during the night is a bit of a habit. He never feeds to sleep during the day, or at his bedtime, and I think he only falls asleep on the breast during the night because he's still tired. That being said, he's actually having a great night tonight so far. He took a while to get to sleep, but since then I haven't been in even once to resettle him!
I know you were hesitant to write anything about the IVF stuff, but I'm glad you did. Your words were definitely comforting and supportive and I appreciate it very much xoxox
BG - Huge thank you to you as well sweetness. You always have just the right words to say, and to think that you were thinking of me while in bed just blows my mind. It just goes to show what and kind and caring soul you are!
PS. Your "runt" is absolutely perfect :)
Nay - Firstly, I love your facebook status. I'm so glad that Sean is taking to being a SAHD like a duck to water. I'm guessing he worked out the nap stuff pretty quickly?
So I'll admit it... you pst, combined with BG's and Bella's had me in tears. You girls are just so gorgeous and I don't know what I would do without my precious baby buddy mummies! I had a chat to my nurse today (twice), and to the scientist in the lab, and they were both absolutely lovely. I guess working in the AC field would require a special kind of people.
PS. I gave Kyson that smooch for you. He pushed my face away, but I'm sure he secretly loved it ;)
Nic - Hope the jitters and sweating caused by BB and FB withdrawls subsided once you got your "fix", hehe,
I had a couple of chats with my nurse today. She let me know that we were most likely just really unlucky this round and hopefully next time we will be a lot more lucky. I was hoping that I could start another cycle as soon as AF shows up, but they like you to have an extra menstrual cycle first. Also, she then rang back to tell me that she had spoken to my FS and he would like DH and I both to give some blood so that they can do some karyotyping testing on them. Like BG mentioned in her previous post, they want to look at whether DH or I might have any chromosomal anomalies like translocation. These anomalies wouldn't effect us because essentially all the genetic material is actually still there, it's just in the wrong place. Sort of like putting a jumper in the linen closet instead of the bedroom cupboard. They think it's probably unlikely, but at least it can be ruled out, and if something does come up, then they can devise a different test to see if that's what's happening in the embryo too. If that's the case, then they would still be perfectly healthy and suitable for transfer.
My nurse also mentioned that next time I might have a higher stim drug dose to try to get a few extra eggs to work with.
I also spoke to the lovely scientist in the PGD lab. She let me know exactly what abnormalities showed up in the embies:
Embie 1: Trisomy 18
Embie 2: Monosomy 18
Embie 3 and 4: Both had problems with both 18 and 21
Embie 5: Only one X, problems with 15, 18, & 22
Even with chromosome 18 showing up a bit, they still think it's unlikely it's due to a problem with DH or I.
According to the results they got, none of those 5 embies would have been "compatible with life". She mentioned that one of them may have made it to term, but it would have been very ill and not survived long. Poor embies :(
Of the other 2 that we didn't get any results for, the littler fragmented embie didn't make it to day 5, and the other embie that may or may not be ok has still grown well and been frozen. It's such a shame that they can't retest that one.
All in all, I'm feeling better about things today. I'm trying to stay positive about the next round, and also thinking about things like how Kyson will get to have another Christmas all to himself :)
Once again, just wanted to give you all a huge cyber hug for being the best group of mummies I know!!!
:grouphug:

glad you got to talk to the nurse and scientist hun - at least you have some answers. they're not the answers you wanted, but they're answers. and you have a new plan of attack with the karyotype testing.
the results you got could have happened naturally as well - most would probably not have made it to implantation or may have resulted in a chemical pregnancy. fertilisation occurs far more often than pregnancy - but nature seems to know when the bits and pieces just don't come together right.
good luck with the follow up testing. i know it's hard to have to wait out a cycle - but the benefits far outweigh the impatience. when you have a stim cycle, your ovaries often remain swollen beyond your first AF - so having a chance for a natural cycle in between gives them a chance to return to normal and reduces the risk of complication with the subsequent stim cycle or pregnancy. keep in mind, it is very normal for AF to arrive at a different time when you've just had a stim cycle - a regular 28 day cycle can blow out to six weeks or more. you will often ovulate later and then have af later as your body recovers from the stims.
oh, and E isn't my "runt" - that one was one of our angels - but at least it took when other seemingly fantastic embryo's didn't. the reason for the failed pregnancy wasnt to do with the embryo, it was my hormone levels cos of the pcos...
on the homefront - i feel cruddy! no idea why, but i have a shocking headache today. actually, i think i do know - no sleep! E is really unsettled with this teething gig. i'm over tired. DH is being helpful to a degree - but he can't help much with feeds overnight - she wants boob for comfort! she falls asleep, wriggles - then goes looking for it again - but is a few inches further up the bed and grabs at me and tries to drag me to he mouth - it HURTS! had a bit of a meltdown about it all last night. the tiredness (and insomnia!) are getting to me - and DH made the mistake of saying to me that i'd have to go out for half a day and leave him and E to it a few times before i go back to work - and then do the same with mum. wasn't the right time - lost it completely! i have five weeks - i don't want to leave her! then i got grouchy at him and was pushing him for answers - where does he antipate i go out here for half a day and stuff like that! i figured he was having brain waves so he could help! i was just really upset and not coping last night. then i asked him to wake me at a certain time this morning as i needed to get up and organised (going to shampoo mum's carpets today for her) and i wanted to spend some time with him before work - and he didn't wake me on time. yeah, i'm chilling now (nappy bag not packed, baby asleep still, mum due in half hour!) - but i wanted to spend time with him. i didn't just want to get up as he went to spend 10 mins on the loo before he walked out the door lol. so i got the grumps at him and have decided i will be grumpy at him all day unless this damn headache goes away
oh, and my arm hurts and i kicked a drawer and ripped open my knee this morning - so i'm a big la la bum! mum sooooooooooo better make me something nice for lunch! lol
