Sarah: have been following you on FB, your lil Emma is gorgeous! wow congrats on still BF plus expressing! And solids too! ive tried rice cereal with jade but she just tries to push it out with her tongue so she musnt be ready
Hi ladies! I've been lurking, just too slack to post anything. There's been a lot happening here though. Not sure how much I'll be able to fit in one post, but I'll try.
TMTM - I hope you guys had a beautiful day for Master Tom's Baptism. And I can't believe that your nephew is walking already! What a clever boy! I hope he's starting to settle in to a better routine soon too...you poor thing. Just keep telling yourself it can't go on forever! Hey, are you in Melbourne? I just had a thought - do your BBs still feel full at the end of the day? I thought mine were ok because Emma would "go down" at night time, but she started waking up in the middle of the night and needing extra feeds (even after I had been giving her solids). The midwife suggested I express some milk first thing in the morning and offer it to her after her "last" feed of the night. It worked wonders for her - I think she must have been thirsty!
Nelly - that's interesting about the sleeping stuff. At the moment Emma has a bunny that she sleeps with. I'm torn between leaving it, and trying to get rid of it. Upside of having it is that it is a sleep cue for her wherever we are. Downside is if she can't find it sometimes when she wakes up, or, heaven forbid I ever lose it! (I went and bought another one today just in case! lol) Hope Jake starts sleeping better soon!
Ray Ray - what a lovely healthy boy! Are you on FB? Or are there photos in the BB gallery? I'd love to see pics. And how amazing about cutting 2 teeth already. Very clever!
Tam - how did Sienna go with the rice cereal? I'm taking Fenugreek capsules when I remember as my milk supply is starting to drop off. I'm having to express every morning, and feed her what I get out at night before bed (I offer her both sides first, then the bottle of EBM). Hopefully this will help build my supply up, and I can eventually stop that, but it's working at the moment for helping her sleep, so I'll keep it up as long as I can!
Hi to everyone else - I'm going to end up writing a novel if I keep going like this, lol!
AFM - We started on solids a few weeks back. Rafferty's Garden rice cereal and fruits at first, and Emma LOVES her food! I've been naughty and given her teething rusks this week too, as she was gnawing on everything she could get her hands on, and so far she's really enjoying those.
She's sleeping really well these days. After much thought I decided to try controlled crying, and I can't believe the difference it's made to her. I was deadset against it before now, but she is a much happier baby for it (strange but true). It took one day of hell, where I felt like the worst mother in the world, but then she started to happily go down in to her cot for sleep times. And now she'll sleep in her cot, porta-cot or pram quite well. So I know it's not for everyone, but we had reached a stage where I knew that she had worked out how to make us come running when she wanted to be held while she slept, and even after 2 hours of bouncing her, she'd open her eyes when we tried to put her down. And I just make sure that when she's up we have lots of cuddles, and play time.
We've had lots of firsts this last few weeks - first swimming lessons, and first time rolling over (both from front to back, and back to front, but not together). I'm finding that this is just the most amazing journey ever - so much fun, love and laughter - and that definitely makes up for the confusion, frustration and occasional exhaustion! lol.
BTW - the only reason this is so long is because I can't sleep. I find that all afternoon I'm really tired, and can't wait for bed, but as soon as it's bed time I'm wide awake, and can't sleep. Grrr...should use this time to do housework or something but can't really be bothered.
Hope you're all enjoying your beautiful babies!

Thanks Tatt - I think little Jade is just adorable too! I show my DH and my mum all the new photos of her - they can't believe what a cutie she is with all that hair!Yeah, the BF is pretty full on sometimes. I've thought about supplementing with one bottle of formula, but my Mum says once you start doing that it can be hard to keep going. I'll just see how I go I guess. And when she's ready Jade will take to the food! And when she does, watch out! lol. Emma now likes to alternate sucking her hands with taking mouthfuls of food - so we get it EVERYWHERE! It doesn't matter how careful I am!
Emma we are in the same boat too with solids, plus when I had Jake the guidelines were all different so now fretting over starting what used to be early (but isnow acceptable) or waiting until 6 mths.
Sarah I've been following you on FB too! It's funny most of us keep up to date with what is going on with eachother via FB rather than here, and BB is just a top up lol.
Needles tmrw - hopefully no reaction!
Hey ladies - a bit of a selfish post coming up. I'm not quite sure where else to turn. DH told me last night that he's got to cancel our first family holiday (down to see HIS family in Melb) because he's got to do a course in Brisbane to qualify him to then go to Afghanistan. We were supposed to fly down together on Sunday night, but now he's flying out to Brisbane on Monday and I just don't know what to do. He says he'll likely be in Brisbane for 1 to 2 weeks, then soon after deploy to Afghan until March. MARCH! I know I'm an army wife, but we had discussed this after his last deployment, and we had decided he wouldn't go on any more deployments - which is why we decided to try for a baby. And now she's here, and he's going. WTF?!?!? Please don't post anything about this on FB - it's still a bit hush hush.
Aw Sarah, that must be toughIs there more to it, maybe he wasnt given much of a choice in the matter?
Have you seen the Defence partners thread on BB, I think there are a few people in there are a few in Townsville.
Thank Rayray - I'll look in to the thread. And he most certainly was given a choice. He's desperate to go. He knows that he's going to miss out on a lot in Emma's life, but for him this is what he trains for, and all his mates are already over there. And I can sort of understand that. And I would never force him not to go because then it would always be "my fault" he didn't go. I know that sounds silly. I'm trying to decide whether to still go to Melb - the whole point of the trip is so Emma can meet his Nannas (they're getting quite old and I don't want them to pass on before we get a chance to go) but his Mum is working the whole week, and his Dad works all weird hours from home, so I don't know what I'd do all day by myself with Emma. Plus, I'm TERRIFIED of driving in Melbourne, but even more terrified of being stuck at my in-laws house with no car. lol.
Where abouts in Melbourne are they, do you know which suburb?
Maybe you can meet up with some BB girls, we're pretty nice here in Melb
Oh and here is the other thread

Hey Sarah, lots of us down here in Melb if you wanted to come anyway! There are tons of family friendly places down here, and I'd be more than happy to show you around some fun ones.
On the larger issue though - I don't know how military families manage, it must be so hard. I can see your dh's POV but it is dreadful to say goodbye when your littlie is just so little, and a few months is a huge deal at this age, isn't it?
Hi girls,
Well I have done it!!! I have organised Lily's Christening.....
She will be Christened on 29 Nov 09.
Pastor and Church organised, invitations sent and I ordered her dress yesterday, it is so beautiful and I booked the local pub to have lunch afterwards.
Now I am looking forward to it.
Hope all you girls and bubs are well.

Lovely, Sue!
Tom was baptised weekend before last - it was really lovely. We had a friend priest we've known for years come and do it so dh could just be "dad" for the day, and lots of the parish turned up as well. Tom wore the gown that my mum bought years ago for dd3 (my first two girls weren't baptised til they were quite grown) so that was really special, and I wore her wedding rings too. Tom is the only one of my children she never got to meet.
My MIL made the most beautiful Christening cake.
Here's a photo of my lovely family around the font: can't see much of Tom though!!

Things are going really well here. Tom is on solid food, sort of. Some days he likes it other days he doesn't want it. He only has one meal a day, but it's great to have him eating up at the table with all of us! His sleep is just so much better. I am finally getting a good four or five straight hours sleep at night, and he's having good long day sleeps too. We basically concentrated really hard on making sure he settled in his own bed, and he's doing really well.
He's grabbing for everything now, people's faces especially! And he can sit up on his own for a few seconds now. He's charming the cotton socks off everyone and he is the most settled, happy baby I've ever had!
This is his latest favourite trick:

TMTM - what a gorgeous photo of Tom's baptism. It sounds like a fabulous day and it was nice that your DH could be a dad for the baptism and not the priest......
I am not sure what happened to my Christening outfit. Maybe my mum borrowed it from my Aunty's or something.
Well I have started a new christening dress for the family now.....
Lily has also started solids. She is having 2 meals a day, one at lunch time of normally some pureed fruit or vegies and for dinner is normally another dose of fruit/vegies with rice cereal. We have tried carrot, pears, apple, potato and of course rice cereal.
Today we are trying pureed banana for the first time. So should be interesting. I also made a batch of pureed peas, but I will wait a couple of days before introducing them. I am reluctant to go to 3 meals at this stage as I still want my breastfeeding to be her main source of food.
Lily is also putting out her hand to grab things now, but she is lazy on the floor. I try and make her spend a lot of time on the floor, but she hardly moves now. We were going from rolling on her belly to her back and from her back to lifting up her legs to roll to the side, but she seems to have stopped this. I am trying to encourage it again.
Her favourite trick is to put her fingers in my mouth so I can suck them..... mmmm
But also she seems to be going through the "attachment" process and I can't leave her sight. Even in the house if I walk into the kitchen she is calling for me. It takes up so much time of the day!!!! Though I am loving it. She is such a good baby and I can't complain.
Lily is also getting close to wearing 0 clothes because of her length. She seems so tall. Must go and measure her.
Well wishing everyone a great day.

wow sue size 0! jade is still in 000 seperates and only just started wearing 00 jumpsuits!
also just from what ive read u shud only offer 1 meal a day until 6 months then introduce 2, otherwise they are having too much solids and will take less BM, atm u shud just be introducing tastes rather than volume IYKWIM?
I cant get multiquote to work
It may be that she is concentrating on developing a new skill and thats why she doesnt seem to be practising the others so much now - shes mastered those and is focusing on something else.
I also have a velcro baby at the moment. He is OK in the mornings, but after about 1 o'clock, he has to be held pretty much constantly if he is awake, hatest he swing or the floor.
We are in size 0 for most things, except wondersuits which are in between - the 0s are too small, but the 1s are too big. The target/coles brand are a little better fit at the moment so he is in those at bedtime.
TMTM - Toms photos are gorgeous.
TM - solids - you will read different things in pretty much every book you find. Its so confusing. Stick to what is working for you as obviously its the right thing - its working
Tom is in 1s now! He's quite long.
*is annoyed that work blacks facebook and she can't see Janes little boys Baptism photos!*
to everyone

Hi all!
I have a bit of a chuckle when I read the sizes of your bubs - Sophia is 67cm long but only weighs 6.5kgs lol. Emma she is still wearing 000 shorts / pants as long as there are no feet and fits 0 rompers but they swim on her in width. Jake was a monster and was in 1's already so I am finding it quite nice to have a little bub for once!
We are doing better in the Jake sleep stakes with a tick chart and his reward is the latest "tinkerbell" dvd which is his fave at the moment. Sophia is still waking every night or so for a 3am feed, but has started yelling at my breasts now if my let down is too slow - makes me laugh feisty little miss. We are hanging off solids for now as she is still kicking along fine - will prob look at mid to late Oct to start, it just means I have to start expressing so I have ebm for the rice cereal and I STILL haven't started that yet. I started expressing w Jake at a few weeks and had a mountain if ebm in the freezer but this time I am being a bit lazy!
Has anyone heard how Sarah is and if she ended up going to Melbourne? She has been in my mind just wondering how she was going.
Last week was an interesting one for us ... I had a car accident on Thursday arvo when a ute ran into my bum when we were stopped at some lights (and he didn't) which ended up w me in hospital for a few hours that night. Then Saturday Jake started vomitting and we were warned to look out for it post accident in case of head trauma. But the main concern was that his food intake and fluids had been down for a few days and he was quite dehydrated so there was the concern we were heading for the metabolic acidosis which is what he was hospitalised for a week in Jan. SO he stayed in overnight with DH and I felt torn in two when I walked out of the hospital . I just wanted to stay and look after my baby but I had another one relying on me and couldn't do itBUT we are all home and he has bounced back but we are doing some further testing to see what causes him to rash so quickly.
Love looking at all of your photos on FB too!
Nelly: omg!! so glad u and jakey are ok! ive only had 1 crash and that was 2 days after i got my licence and hit a tree and totalled my car, it was soooo scary! about the EBM: im sort of glad i FF cause i can leave jade with family etc, but sort of wish i could just BF her once in a while lolbut sort of nice to have my boobs to myself (and my new friend with benefits he he he)
and has anyone heard from Candice lately??
