Marni - Could she be cold maybe? One of my friends had her bub, and for the first few months refused to sleep unless he was in a carrier or sling. She even had to sleep sitting up in a rocking chair! I really felt for her...but it passed. Maybe its your smell or heart beat she cant hear when she's alone.....

Sleepy - I bought her a sleeping bag yesterday thinking that could be it. I will keep trying but she may just want to be held to sleep for now. In which case that is what will happen - cause I just can't listen to her cry!

Hello to everyone else.
We had our 6 week checks yesterday. DD is doing great, sh eis now 5.2kg...little boomba! Saw my ob an he said that i have healed up really well with no foreseeable long term effects...lucky! I see the surgeon today so will have that confirmed. I also got my period back on Wednesday...can't believe it already! I am petrified of DTD again so thinking it will have to be a slow move into that and just 'enjoy' each others company for a while.
AS for DD, her sleeping has been a little all over the place at the moment...not sure what is going on there. Thought it might be due to my milk being different from my period? Also i have been expressing more regularly and my milk has increased a little but not huge so i will keep trying. I find that DD struggles to go down for a sleep in the morning and arvo so we are concentrating on working on that over the next few days.

Great to hear all of your 6 week checks have been going well! We had ours on Tues and all is well. H is 4.75kg (hehehe fatty fatty) I am a great cow!!! :lol: The nurse asked if she was smiling, then started talking to her and got nothing but smiles!!! Was so cute. Apoarently she has a very strong head for a bub her age, but I don't think she any different than T at this age, all the same good to hear. As for me, everything is great. I have healed well, all retained produces have been expelled, stitches healed well and that night DH and I even DTD for the first time since we had her. Was a little uncomfy at times, but all in all everything went well :D I was so releaved, I think DH thought it would be much the same as after I had T, it was 12 months before we could DTD... Was far too painful and I didn't like the numbing gel they gave me (what the point of sex if you can't feel anything!). So everyone is happy and well here.
BW - I am so glad K is getting better. How horrible for you all. Poor little princess, must have been so hard for you watching them poke and prod her, but at least now
JCEC - They have a growth spert at around the 6 week mar which can effect their eating and sleeping.. Often eat more and sleep less. If thats what it is it should pass really soon.
Marni - Hope the sleeping bag worked for you. I find H sleeps beautifully between 8pm and 2:30-3am, but I can't get her back into her own bed after that and she definately isn't cold. Doesn't bother me any, shes just getting morning cuddles for a few more hrs than her sister! hahaha I must say though, its always nicer to have just 2 in the bed, rather than 3 or 4! The bags worked great with T, had her in them from pretty early on as she was rolling REALLY early so didn't want her to be wrapped and get stuck on her belly or something. With any luck your first night with the bag went well!
Pheonix - That sounds horribly painful! Hope the physio sorts everything out for you. Nothing worse than post natal pain, makes things just that little bit harder.
Socks - Is so great to see you back! N is just gorgeous, love the pic on your ticker!!! I looked at your sig and thought your were some how preg again! hahahaha then I saw the EDD... I'm not the brightest bulb on the tanning bed thats for sure!!!

H is sleping really well. She goes down about 8-8:30pm until 2:30-3am then back down until 7-7:30am then doesn't get up until 8:30-9am. She's quite routine about those times too which is great! This morning I found myself awake and ready for her to wake. T woke for a wee then H woke just after so all great timing.
Cutest thing - T has been calling H 'Hadley Maree', but is comes out 'Haddy Aweeeee' hehehehe
Ok I'm sorry about all of my bias bragging, I'm just so in love with me girls!

Pish - Glad that all the checks have gone so well. You must be so relieved! Aren't the smiles beautiful? We normally have cuddles after the 3.30am feed as well - I like them and I'm just not awake enough to try and get her down in her bed.
BW - Great that Kaylee is going to be all fine! Hope that everything else is ok too.
Traylee - How are you feeling now?
SSM - How did your night away from Hunter go? I had T stay at mums when she was 7weeks old (because of my health) and it was so hard!

I feel so guilty. This morning I was trying to P back to sleep and t just kept touching and disturbing her. Being half asleep I snapped at her and told her to just leave P alone. :cry: I try not to do that ever, I dont want her feeling like P is off limits.

Marni - I know what you mean about snapping at the big sister. I have lost my temper at A a couple of times this week and felt terrible afterwards. :(
Socks - welcome back! I can't believe you have time to post with 6 kids! I can barely manage with 2.
Tiff - sounds like H is going great guns re. sleep! E has had a few nights this week with just one feed between 8pm and 6am, but last night was 2 and today she has been STARVING. 3 wk growth spurt a little late? She's finally having a bit of a nap now after fighting sleep in favour of boob all day. She's never like that, I normally have to encourage her to eat.
re cuddles in bed - if E wakes around 5am for a feed, it's pretty hard to get her back down so I have opted for cuddles in bed with me after that a few times. Although I don't really want her to sleep in our bed too much, the cuddles are nice, and it's nice that she will sleep with me like that. A would never sleep in our bed.
Swaddling - I am still swaddling E. She doesn't like having her arms restricted - the angry noises start - but I find she sleeps better because her arms aren't flailing around. Will def. be using sleeping bags once she has more arm control.
Hi to everyone else! I'm loving having DH home on the weekend. He's been working long hours, and will be for a while so it's nice to have someone else to entertain A and hold E while I have a shower! Hope you're all having a good weekend, and that the babies let you get some rest.

Marni - Don't feel guilty hun, I tell T not to touch H a lot. I know I shouldn't but she would constantly be poking, prodding and annoying her if I didn't. I still make sure she gets plenty of time with her when she's awake, I let T hold H and cuddle her etc, but only when she's awake. H really gets cranky with T annoying her so much! She starts grunting and cringing so I think it's only fair she gets some time without T annoying her. :hug: Hope you're feeling better sweets.
pmc - They have a growth spert around the 6 week mark, can come a little early or a little late, so I'd say thats whats happening with your little princess atm. I haven't really noticed the increased feeding with H as yet so I expect it is just going to be a bit late. With T she went through it at about 4 week and it was very noticable! I must say though she is a great feeder and eats every 2 hours or so (during the day that is), T was 3-4 hour between feeds during the day so maybe H just doesn't need any more feeding!! :lol: So lovely you're all getting some time with DH, enjoy!
Wrapping - When ever H is in her own bed I wrap her. Of an afternoon I wrap her, giver her a dummy and put her to bed to self settle and get off to sleep and at night I wrap her for her big sleep. When she's in the bouncer napping or in our bed she's not wrapped. She really doesn't like the wrap but it does making getting her to self settle much easier, unless she is wide awake, then she spends a lot of her time fighting it... In which case I get her back up for a while before I try putting her back down again.

BW - Glad you finally got some answers and I hope miss K makes a speedy recovery from her UTI, poor little poppit has had a rough few weeks.......and so has her mummy.
Marni - I take my hat off to all you mums with toddlers & newborns, it must be so hard to keep two little ones happy and not make the older one feel left out etc.
PM - It is nice to have that extra person to get those little things done like have a shower, hang out washing or just even sit and eat brekkie - make the most of your DH this weekend :)
Tiff - sounds like H is settling in really well for you :). With my pubic bone pain it's not constant which is good it usually starts up if I go for a longish walk, if I squat down or cross my legs so hopefully with physio should heal quickly.
Wrapping - I wrap A for all her home sleeps unless she's in our bed (like now) if she's tired she loves it and falls asleep as soon as her first arm is tucked away, but if she's not quite ready she fights it like crazy which is kind of funny. I tried her in her grobag but that was a disaster, she woke every few minutes as she was moving her arms around and hitting herself. Will try it again soon because she seems to have a bit more control of her arms & hands.
Cuddles in bed - when DH is home I take her in after her 6.30 feed so he gets cuddle time and she then sleeps till about 9ish, most times I go back to bed too but I'm trying to stay up so I can get showered and anything else I need to do like dishes / washing etc.
Well I've survived nearly 3 whole days all on my own another 9 to go. I miss DH for those times I just want to have a shower, cook, hang out washing etc but I'm learning to multitask and usually just put A in the bouncer whereever I am or the pram and wheel her around.
A has been a dream, I am so so so so so lucky that she is a such a placid & laid back baby - she has her cranky moments but I have now worked out that it's usually one of four things - hungry, tired, wind or dirty nappy and once they've all been sorted she's good as gold.

We are having our 6 week check up this wek. E is 6 weeks today.
E is pooping like crazy the last few days, I had to change 3 nappiies straight after each other, but it was 3am, and I obviously wasn't letting him finish! This morning we slept in and had to shower...wipes just wouldn't cut it...lol
He's pretty good with sleeping , usually goes down between 8 - 10pm, then wakes 4 hours later, then 3 hours after that. So I can't really complain...
Ok E is waking now...better go....
Wrapping - We've been wrapping less and less - mainly just at night now - but may have to go back to wrapping all the time as B seems to be waking just after he's put down and gets grizzly. He also wakes himself if he loses his dummy so have been trying not to give it all the time so he gets used to not having it.
BW - Glad you got some answers for K and I hope the antibiotics are working.
Socks - Hi there stranger! Sounds like you're doing amazingly well and N too.
Sleepy - GL with the 6 week check. B often does the 'double nappy change', but we occasionally get a three-er!
Phoenix - How are you doing on your own? Just the fact that you can find time to post is amazing to me!
Tiff - Bummer that DH is working on a Sunday, I hope you had a good day with your girls.
pmccask - B had a growth spurt and was very cranky and feeding often for a couple of days around the 4 week mark. On a good note, it was just as that ended that he smiled for the first time :).
Marnikat - I snapped at DH to leave B alone the other day :o so don't feel too bad! How's the sleeping alone going?
JCEC - Glad that the expressing is increasing your milk a bit. B has taken to 'arsenic hour' like a duck to water and we get a couple of hours of whingeing in the arvo, which is tiring.
Traylee - Hope you're all feeling better. I can sympathise as I've had a cold and was grumping at DH and feeling pretty sorry for myself yesterday.

AFM - As I said, I'm just getting over a cold :doh: so have been feeling pretty yuk since Friday, especially cos you can't really take anything when you're bfing. On a positive note, I have been trying really hard not to pass it to B (or DH!) and so far he seems to be OK :crossfingers:. I have some children's panadol on standby for him just in case.
B seems to be sleeping consistently for 6-7 hours at night, and now that he's not waking just on dawn he will go back down - he doesn't go back to sleep as it's getting light because there's too many shadows and cracks of light from the windows to distract him! We went for a walk in the pram this arvo and he was mesmerised by the light and trees!
DH seems to be having a tough time coping with arsenic hour this arvo - should prob rescue him but am really tired and not well still and have had B all day so I reckon I deserve this little bit of 'me' time!
PMC - I agree with the other ladies, sounds like a growth spurt. I think we had another on Thurs, P was feeding alot, grissly and not wanting to be put down. They seem to pass quickly though!
Tiff - I'm glad I'm not the only one with the dont touch. When we went out yesterday I let her pick a new barbie but didnt tell her why and I then subsided my guilt! What did you end up getting up to today?
Phoenix - Only another week and a bit now. You are doing a fantastic job! John went away for 3 days when P was 3 weeks old and it wasn't the easiest thing!
JLeigh - They love shadows! Its amazing what will mesmerise them. I hope you feel better soon - we all have it too. And the sleeping alone thing kind of isnt working, but I am sure we will get there eventually.
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. DH has claimed he has hurt his neck today and spent the arvo sleeping while I dealt with both children and all the house cleaning. Even claims he cant pick up P. I told him if it is that bad to go to the drs. He hasn't though. The lack of help just makes me so mad and cranky! He seems to sleep every afternoon on the weekends. I dont get to at all and I'm the one awake at night feeding the baby! Sorry, just venting, feel free to ignore me - but I feel abit better now. Better go get Miss T out of the bath.

Jleigh - YAY for B settling into such a good night sleeping routine, :crossfingers: he keeps it up for you. Isn't arsenic hour just delightful!!! Just as I thought A might be getting over them she made up for lost time yesterday lol Dont' you just love the concentration and amusement on their little faces when they watch lights & shadows it's just so cute to watch.
Marni - How is your day going today, hopefully better than yesterday. With the housework done over weekend can you a have semi lazy day with your girls......well as lazy as a day can be with two littlies :)

Well seems A just might have settled into a night sleeping routine that will keep me sane, especially since I'm on my own, it makes it easier to deal with the unsettled times in afternoon.
The past couple of days she has taken to sucking her hands, clothes and dribbling..........she can't be teething already could she? Just when my boobs are finally not hurting, the thought of little teeth coming through sends shivers down my spine plus she's still too little and that would be growing up way to fast.

Pheonix - Sounds like you're doing just beautifully without DH around, congrats, it can't be easy! You really notice the difference when you don't have back up for those busy times (dinner, bathtime etc). Hope you're enjoying the 1 on 1 time with your little princess. As for teething it is doubtful, but in saying that some babies do teethe early, not usually this early. I'd just say she's discovering things!!! She's found her hand and her hands can give her things, she must be doing really well in the developmental milestones!
Sleepy - GL with the check this week. I find they're really exciting seeing how big they've got and where they are on the percentiles!
JLeigh - Go B!!! Thats great for him to be sleeping so well at night! Is he BF or FF? I only ask as a friend has a 4 weeker and gives a comp feed before bed at night and she sleep the whole night through... I must add bub doesn't sleep at all during the day, mum is completely exhausted by the end of the day so feels as though the comp feed is her sanity at the days end. It's lovely now they can see things and really take notice of things, such as the light through the trees! Sounds like a nice walk for you both!
Marni - lol it is so conveniant (sp? brain not working) when the men get the 'man flu' , weather it be aches and pains or the sniffles, they just can't handle anything at all... We get sick and it's 'yeah and?!' :lol: All men are the same my dear I know the feeling!!! :D
Didn't do a lot yesterday. H was a little off yesterday arvo n last night. Was a bit whingy yesterday evening and was restless in bed last night, well when I say that she didn't cry and she still slept fairly well (2am feed n 6am then 8:30am little more than usual), but was kicking about every so often even though she was fast asleep... Strange. She had her needles on Fri, could it have still been that??
T has been a little trying the past couple of days and isn't a lot better today... Nothing too bad, just the general 2 year old stuff. We made jelly this morning, was hoping that would put her in a good mood for the day, see how that goes?! :)

Hi All!
How is everyone today? We are getting better at getting out of the house! We were out of here by 9.30 this morning. After we shower (all 3 of us - me, Elijah and Cooper) and a feed, it's not so bad. Went to K-Mart and got a slow cooker. I think it will be good for me, especially since I can make dinner in the morning and leave it on all day. Plus I really like casseroles...
DH is back at work this week, thank goodness. Not that he was too bad, but he was all out of sick days....He did however injure his back on saturday tho...so he is still in pain.
I am having my 6 week check up this friday, so we'll know how fat little E is getting...but last week I did weigh him on the Wii FIt Plus, and it said he was just over 5kg...so I think he is doing well...lol
School holidays start at the end of this week, so that'll be nice, can at least sleep in a bit and not have to get up at 7am every morning. Think I might enjoy that a bit too much!

Sleepy - YAY for the slow cooker they are fantastic for no fuss, yummy meals you can put on & forget about for the day - perfect for winter and they also make the perfect silverside/corn beef
Thanks to everyone for your words of support, I'm trying to make the days positive & keeping busy as DH's job is the reason I get to be a SAHM. Think he is finding it harder being away than I am but there is no way he'd be able to take a job in town and earn the same money plus I like the fact that even though he's away for two weeks, he's then home for two weeks and I have him all to myself.
Yesterday A was cranky in the afternoon and it would have been nice to just have someone to take her for half an hour for a break but she got over it eventually and we had cuddles on the sofa watching masterchef before her bath, feed & bed. She has at least been going down for her night sleep without her usual struggle which is one bonus, hopefully she is growing out of the colic :) And even though I love her to death and I should go to bed to make the most of sleep, I really do enjoy that hour or so to sit & do nothing but I really should get to bed earlier lol.
Sorry for the selfish post, well should make the most of her morning sleep and get showered and place tidied up - have mum, brother & his wife coming round for dinner tonight.
I know what you mean Phoenix about that hour to yourself - it's bice to sit down without anything in your lap or boob! But needing sleep is important too! As long as your not lacking too much in either department!
We got a 5 hour block of sleep last night! I was stoked! So happy. Feeling pretty good today too. It'd be nice if it continued, but I think it may have been a once off. But we'll see. Got to get the vacuuming done today, it's been so long! It's usually the last job on my list of to-do's so it doesn't usually get done.
You know I really appreciate having only 1 baby. I watched Oprah yesterday - Octo-mum was on there...boy is she a busy bee! She hardly gets any sleep, or rest or time to herself!

I have 5 minutes to myself with a cup of tea, so thought I'd do a quick post.
Sleepy - yay to the 5 hr block! E does it occasionally, just to get my hopes up, then the next night goes back to 4hrs which I can't complain about. Last night she woke at 1:30 after going to sleep about 9 and I lazily shoved the dummy in and didn't hear from her till 3am! She was going to town on the dummy though, and it took me 1.5hrs to settle her again after a feed, and by that point I was wide awake and couldn't get back to sleep. My punishment, obviously!
Phoenix - sounds like you're doing a great job! Yay to no struggle in the evening! We're yet to conquer that.
Teeth - it's unlikely so early (although not impossible) but they do start producing more drool about this age, as they start being able to put their hands in their mouths. Belle was an "early teether" and she was 5 months when she got her first. She's not 2 yet and numbers 2 of her 2nd molars have just cut through taking the grand total to 18! 2 more and it's a full set!
Well A has just woken up from her nap and E is due a feed so I'd better go.

whats you girls opinions on childcare already, i met this nice lady round corner who does family day care and had a chat, she takes bubs from newborn up.
i didnt put hayley in childcare till she was 18 months old but she was always around family we had family around so she got use to ppl and we got time away.
up here we have no one and no family so i was thinking mayb once a week for bout 3hrs a day she can go somewhere, mayb not just yet but eventually in few months maybe.
wat do u all think would you???? as hubby an i dont work really so its not des needed, i do relief in childcare centres and run my own babysitting business, but its not full on,
i even thought when i start back at gym in aug i couold leave her there, but i dont no lol
Traylee - I put Cooper in daycare at the start of this year. He'll be 3 next month. The only reason I pit him in is because I get 1 day a week peace and to spend time with E. I thinks it's good for their social ability at the older age. I personally wouldn't put E in daycare until he's about the same. But it's a personal choice. I have had people disagree with me putting Cooper in daycare because I don't work. So everyone is different and it depends whether you feel comfortable in leaving S with a stranger too.
I've had a busy day today, lots of cleaning and stuff. I think I need to go to bed early. But seeing E smile and babbling his baby babble is just beautiful. I love it so much! Makes my heart melt :)
yea with hayley i wasnt ready till she was 18 motnhs old, but was diffeent if she spent a night or couple hours with family,
but yea with scarlet she stll little and i would only trust family i think, ill see how i go, but i dont think it wil be anytime soon after thinming about it and looking at her lol, i would do noting but worry about her i thinks, whihc i do even when troy has her lol,
she hs done nothing but feed today, every 2hrs today its been pretty muich, like 125mls, then 90, then 90, then 60, then 90 etc etc i always make morning one a 120ml cause she goes hours withouit, most of the day she usually has 120 to but when she gets her bottles closer i lower it to 90 or soemtimes 60mls,
but today man she hasnt stopped,hasnt been screaming just doin her hungry cry andi put my finger there and no when she sucks its food time lol, maybe another growthy spurt,
