Hi Turtlejane and welcome Jasmine Kayla (she was born on my actual due date lol)
Isnt labour just insane! I was freaking out on the inside but managed to do it without much outward agony lol V took about 3 and a half hours too but was induced a week early due to a dodgy placenta. How is the bf going now? Maybe nipple shields would help?
Hi Arimeh and Tecopa and your little ones
I guess its been pretty quiet in here and if you were wondering why have a look in the belly buddies group for 16 to 31 Nov. We have a straggler we are waiting for lol...
Im so keen to chat with you all so I will stop being a slacker and post in here too
I took V to the family health centre today and was a bit itimidated by the nurse there, It looked really old school too..She had put 380g on in a week though so thats encouraging.
V has been sleeping a little better...only because we have let her sleep with us a night. So weird that she sleeps in her bed in the day but only settles with us at night. Last night I got about 6 hours in a row but it was pretty light sleep as Im scared something will happen if I relax too much. It was nice though. Every afternoon she gets very restless and cries and does massive amounts of poo so at night we are relieved when she finally relaxes, Its just a pity it all happens when Id like to be cooking dinner lol...
Anyway, come check out the bellies buddy thread if you are wondering where some of us are,
Hey natty what a great weight gain have you thought of getting one of those baby bed things to put her in in your bed so you don't have to worry bout squashing her, I put S propped up in a u shape pillow
Hey Natty, I had a better night last night - after seeing the nurse yesterday she told me not to let Amelia go 4 hours between feeds yet, she's too young to go that long so I did the 3 hours and it worked much better. I fed at 10.30 pm, she woke at 1.30 am for a feed, then at 3.30 am and didn't wake up again until 7.30 am! Although I must admit I topped her up with 15mls formula at the 1.30 am feed to tide her over - the nurse said your milk depletes in the evenings so if they are hungry they won't sleep obviously. So I gave her the boob and then the 15mls formula.....only problem was this morning I woke up to a poo explosion, it had gone through everything so not sure if it was the formula. I forgot pull out the frills in the nappy legs so it went all up the side she was lying on, poor petal. She had another runny poo earlier so hopefully it's all out of her system now, doesn't seem to bother her but I feel bad! I can't believe we still have a straggler in the November BB thread ha ha, poor thing!
Heavenly I have a Tetra bed but its a bit big and I think she really likes the skin on skin thing. Ill try the u shaped pillow though..I just put some pics on fb there is a nice one of dh and V sleeping lol.
Hi Alison, great news on trying the 3 hr feeds, we did them for the first 2 and a half weeks or so but now Im letting V sleep a bit longer, especially as she is putting on so much weight Im pretty sure she is not starving lol..I agree with the pooing being affected by the comp feed, I think the formula and breast milk are digested differently so do a bit of a reaction in the little ones tummy. Vs poos are always pretty runny but that is aparrently normal for bf babies poos. Haha you will not forget the frills again hey!
xx
ha ha Heavenly Kurds Mustard was exactly what I woke to today!
Hey girls, how long are you bf'ing for roughly? I can't seem to get Amelia to feed for longer than 30 mins at max, it's usually around 15 mins to 30 mins, is that enough? She falls asleep and I can't always wake her!
Hi Ladies!
Congratulations on your new additions!!!
I'm sorry to have hijaked this thread but I thought it would be the best place to find the answer to my question!
We are expecting a new bub in may, and currently have a 19 month old.
We are also in the process of buying a new "second" car.
I wondered if any of you have the Safe N Sound Meridian AHR child restraint fitted in your cars (in rear facing position)?
We are going to be having that seat fitted, in rear facing for the new bub, but we need to know the distance between the back seat (as in the part you lean your back against), and the back of the car seat (the part closest to the front seat!).
We need to know what cars we will fit into and what ones we dont!!
Is there any chance (if someone gets time, its hard with a newborn!) someone could grab a tape measure and measure the distance between the back seat, and the farthest point of the car seat and drop me a pm please?
I'd really appreciate it, as we are hopig to go car shopping this weekend!
I have a capsule not that one and no tape measure but can u measure the car seat you have for your 19 month old from the front bottom to the top to get the distance sorry I can't help
hope all you mums and babies are doing well am reading all your posts but not posting coz im lazy and still posting in the due 16-30th thead.... but gues that will be closing soon
i look foward to getting to know all you girls i dnt know yet
Hi everyone - I'm being lazy too, with 3 under 3 I'm not getting much of a chance to post anything interesting!!! Not that there really is anything interesting happening... just a messy house, and poop after poop after poop!!!
Hope everyone is coping well with their newborns and everything that comes along with it
Well my mum is here at the moment helping out - so thats helping heaps, she just prepared dinner in the slow cooker so I didn't have to, and usually does the washing up, cleans up a bit, hangs out my washing - so I've just been feeding, feeding and feeding my little piggy!! And mothering the other two of course
I really have to get DS into child care, he NEEDS the stimulation desperately. He's so bored with just me at home..
Hi Arimeh....wow along with Heavenly you girls are incredible, how on earth do you stay sane hee hee. I'm freaking out about going for my second in 12-18 months.......Arimeh, how did you find going a VBAC after a C-Section? I just had my first on the 30th November and unfortunately had to go the emergency c-section due to high temp and bubs high heart rate during active labour stage, they thought I had an infection but the swabs came back negative so not sure what happened. I'm really hoping next pregnancy I can try the vaginal birth as I feel like I've been ripped off and missed out on the experience.
AFM - My sisters took me and Amelia to see Santa today seeing as I can't drive yet, Amelia was asleep ha ha - better than screaming. Mind you, we ended up being a bit longer than her usual 3 hours between feeds so while I was quickly trying to get some groceries in Woollies she started bawling....quickly gathered my things and left, just finished feeding. I felt so bad leaving it 4 hours poor petal. Hope it hasn't stuffed up the routine I'm trying to establish, although everyone has said not to stress too much as it's hard to get a routine going until about 6 weeks.....is this true?
Hi Alison I can understand the ripped off feeling, I had that too when DD1 was another c-section. I think with the right support behind you - you can achieve anything you desire I hope you are recovering well from your section - the first one is the hardest I must say, for some reason my recovery was good with section #2 - until I got an infection
As for routines - um my kids have all sorta set their own, I just make a note of what they do every day, and if it seems to be going along the same lines for a while, then that's their routine!
DD2 has a sorta routine now - she is a much better feeder now, and feeds every 2-3 hours, except in the early evening, when it just feels like I'm permanently attached to her and I feel absolutely empty by the end of the day - but last night wasn't too bad, fed her at 11pm and she wouldn't settle, so DH took her into the loungeroom and she slept on his chest until 1.30, then he put her in the bassinette and she slept until 5am! So went 6 hours between feeds.
She's a little upset at the moment, must be hanging for another feed. Mum is trying to settle her in the swing, but I don't think its got any milk in it LOL
