Pretty much sums up the situation here too ... ROFL!!!!!

LOL Arimeh! :D As someone who's had a c-section followed by a VBAC, how did you find that VBAC and did you feel the recovery etc was much easier than a c-section? I had to have an emergency unexpected c-section but am hoping I can go the VBAC next time. Whilst I've healed well I hated being stuck in the bed on a cathetar feeling sorry for myself for the first 2 days and now not being able to drive is giving me the you know whats! Just interested in your opinion.
yep stinks here too not sure whats going on
Just saw on the news there's a big bush fire down in Harvey and it's blowing up our way, no wonder! I was just down that way on Sunday too! Must be a big one!
HI Ladies! Please excuse my post as I am just going to modify what I wrote in bb group and add on to that...another who is finding it hard to get things done here....
Welcome to the newies! I look fwd to geting to know you, I have read all the posts but at the moment I think it would do my head in to try and do persies...sorry....Im Natalie Anne Frederikos-White on fb if you want to add me...Id love to see your photos :)
It sounds like everyone is going well, and its good to see many of us are doing the same kindsof things..The variation in the bf and ff stories are wide arent they? It just goes to show there is no textbook answer hey...
Today I declared it "sleep when you can day" whennever V slept so did I. I feel great! I havent done anything else as usually I try to get a load of washing done and prepare dinner and shower etc etc but today Im on strike! Time to take that advice and put it in to practice and I feel so much better for it :)
we have leftover dinner from last night tonight yay! all dh has to do is heat it up...Yesterday I was pretty organised so Im so glad I made double lol..I have this amazing greek cookbook and I tried a goat casserole and it was FANtastic! hehe goat...who would have thought it was so yummy lol...
V is great she is a month old now and in a bit of a routine. She wakes anywhere between 5 or 7am, feeds and goes back to sleep easily, then she wakes about 4ish hrs later and does the same. A shorter nap in the pm leads into the fussy period... she becomes a bit clingy and likes to snack and fuss and take short naps until we settle her for good about 1130 12 then sleeps till 3 or 4 and will usually go easily back to bed. We have kept things flexible as well as the feeding as I figure it will all change anyway. Im not able to let her cry for long it breaks my heart but we are trying to let her cry a little before we pick he up as we would like to be able to go to the toilet if need be lol....
The co sleeping thing we have kept to a minimum as we do sleep better without her in with us but sometimes she really loves the cuddles and drops right off after a snack which she seems to be able to do while sleeping anyway...Anything to keep the peace at this point and I have realised pretty much everyone does it but doesnt like to admit it lol...
She is putting weight on steadily and we have noticed a few smiles too. She is not too keen on being put down and prefers it when we hold her, even when we put her down but stay with her she is not too keen. Anyone else have a clingy bub or is that normal at a month?
V has a bit of a heat/ hormone rash and looks pretty blotchy so hopefully it will get a bit better soon.
Got to go now I hink I have to deal with a green poo explosion lol...Ill try for persies later :)
Oh Alicia yes I got your message we will have to cach up next time Im in Bris! What similar lives we have led haha :)
xx Natty
The recovery from a VB is definitely quicker to get over than a section. I think I was feeling pretty good by day 3 - I mean, I was up and walking around straight after birth, but my tailbone hurt like crazy and my back was thrown all outta whack from labour - but I have a dodgy back, plus I had SPD during my pregnancy so everything was out of alignment. Now 2 weeks later, I don't even feel like I have given birth!!! Mind you, I'm not tempted to find out if my "equipment" still works - bwahahah!!!! I've told DH he's not going near there for at least 3 years.. haha... but yeah, I feel no different (well I have smellier gas ... LOL) but yeah, its so much better. I was driving by day 2, which is a hell of a lot better than my c-section recovery - plus - no infections had here!!! I only had two little tears from giving birth, so I probably got off easy - people with stitches or whatever might say their recovery was longer?
But yes, I definitely didn't miss the catheter this time round - oooh I hated that with my sections, and having someone give me a sponge bath, and replace my pads for me - arghhh the shame.
No way of giving birth is "easy" but i definitely preferred my recovery this time round (although I could have easily gone without the stinging whilst peeing bit for a week, christ that hurt.. lol)
Hi, I was wondering if I could join your thread? My little man 'Samuel' was born on 25 November a little earlier than expected (due on 26dec), so unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of getting to know you ladies over the past few months.
Anyway thanks, Tess.
hey tess and welcome...as u can tell ive had a few early ones too.....
with my csec i never had ppl give me sponge baths i think i had a shower that night or next morning but i was also walking around by that night i hated when they took the cathider out i got this weird pain :( i think labour recovery varies with the first to they i was just tired so it was that aspect of it but with hunter as i didnt feel it cos he was in to much of a hurry to give me labour i didnt even feel like id had him once out and was dtd after a week but i dtd after a week this time to with the csec so that must just be my crazy hormones and labido lol
Hi Tess and welcome..Congratulations on the arrival of Samuel. I hope he is happy and healthy even though he was a little early :)
Geez Heavenly!! lol I thought I was keen, doing it after 4 weeks lol..It felt weird :o
Hi Tess and welcome, congratulations on the birth of Samuel, he obviously wanted to be here for in time for Santa. :) I had my first baby on the 30th November, a day late, emergency c-section, Amelia Alice is her name and she's 15 days old today.
Hi Arimeh - thanks so much for that info on your experience of a vaginal birth vs c-section. I'm definitely going to ask the OB at my 6 week check if I can have a VBAC next time. Considering the c-section was due to my high temp and bubs high heart rate I'm hoping there's no reason I can't do it naturally next time. Really want to experience that and was disappointed I didn't get to this time.
AFM - had a crap day today, Amelia was really unsettled today, very unlike her, she usually just feeds and sleeps but every time I put her down she cried. I think she's so overtired now and is asleep on dad's chest but I'm shattered, didn't get an arvo nap which I really wanted today. grrr.
Went to the local Woollies tonight as the shops are open for Chrissy, it was dead quiet so did a whole shop in peace! Was so nice to get out the house, this driving is giving me the you know whats, although I realised today even if I sneak in a drive I can't lift the pram in and out of the car so I'm stuffed either way, double grrrrr to the c-section!!!! :wall::wall:
Hey Natty - sounds like V is settling into a routine, wahoo, just when I think I'm getting one it blows up in my face a little.....each day as it comes. I have to remind myself Amelia is only 2 weeks old hee hee. Gosh I'm impatient! Bloomin Gemini! :o
Welcome Tess & Samuel!
Well done Natty for having a sleep when you can day - I intend to do that but get distracted by this & that (not by doing housework). The goat casserole sounds good, but I couldn't convince DH to try goat. I try to make double meals often so I can have a couple of nights off cooking each week. Mr I is always awake and wanting attention at 5 to 6pm so I need to have something in the freezer if I can't cook.
Alison - shopping late sounds like a great idea. I'm dreading trying to find a park and getting the shopping done next week.
I got the catheter & sponge baths even though I had a VB 'cause I fainted after the PPH (and then fainted again 12 hrs later when we tried to get me in the shower) and they didn't want me standing up in case I did it again. Not fun! However most people don't have my tendency to faint so its not normal for a VB, even if you have a PPH. I had stitches, but the didn't bother me and I missed the stinging 'cause of the catheter.
Gotta go - I can hear my master's voice!
Hi yeah Snowy why is it that they want to play at dinner time? I have to premake dinners too and even then I have to eat with her on my boob at times...I dropped rice on her head last night heehee....
Alison you are doing fine for 2 weeks. Im only just feeling like I MAY be able to do it all on my own at some point...god help me....
xx Natty
Argh I'm so jealous of you guys with only one child... anyone up for one of mine for a while? LOL
DD1 is going through a really annoying stage where everything is reason to do a high pitched squeal... which then usually wakes DD2, usually as she has only just gone to sleep. Actually have a moments peace to have a cuppa whilst the two toddlers are having smoko and newbie is sleeping (for once!)
As for preparing dinners - I have to have all my saucepans ready to turn on at 5pm - so I get it prepared at lunch time when DD1 is napping. Today I have promised DS we will make a chocolate cake as well - so hopefully DD2 likes being in the sling (we were supposed to make it yesterday but it was so hectic here that I never got the chance)
Welcome to Tess and congrats on the birth of samuel :welcome:
Ahhh good cuppa. But the baby is stirring!!!
Hi everyone!
I just finished reading the first 3 pages of this thread but got side tracked so thought I would just post and start from here!
Well, my bubs was born on 5th Dec but was due on 24th November and
ill come back my boobs are needed!!
Hi ladies!
typing one handed but trying to catch up!
Ubba: how are you?? How is Ruby going? where are the pics!!!? Can't wait to see her!
Arimeh: My, you do have a handfull! And here i was feeling sorry for myself last night when Archie was unsettled and i only have him and a beautiful ten year old to look after!! Haha! What kind of sling do you have? I hate mine! I can't work it out and it makes me feel claustrophobic! I think i'd like to get one of the wrap around ones instead.
Natty: How are you lovey? Violet is beautiful! Funny u should say that about the rice, i dropped rice on Archie yesterday too! My DH is going back to work tomorrow, part of me is cr*pping myself, part of me is looking forward to getting the house tidy again... it always seems to be messier when he is home!!
Snowy: I had a PPH too! It was awful... i didn't actually faint but almost did when i was on the toilet. I couldn't stand to have a shower for two days. I sooo wanted to be feeling good so i could enjoy my baby but it was about 5 days before i felt okay. I'm on three iron tabs a day which is helping.
Alison: I had a crap night last night too... Archie was really unsettled and i was starting to doubt everything! I think it is really taking it out of me feeding him so often but nothing else settles him. I have moments when i wonder if i have a little bit of PND but then things will be good again and i feel okay. I think it's just really daunting sometimes and i occasionally get the "oh my god. what have i done" feeling!! Too late now! haha!!! I love him to bits, don't get me wrong, things just get hard to deal with sometimes!
Tess: Hello and welcome! Looking forward to hearing more about Samuel!
Heavenly: I can't believe how much Serenity has grown! She is sooo adorable! I love your pics on FB.. they look really cool.
Alicia: Great to hear Cruz has put on lots of weight! My boy is stacking it on too! Thanks for the compliments! Everyone thought i was crazy getting married at 39 weeks but I am so glad that I did it now! We can have a big party down the track and i can get sloshed then! haha!
Sorry if I have missed anyone but my memory is stuffed! I think from the PPH?? Well, thats my excuse!
AFM: I went for a walk with the pram today. I only went for a short walk but i was stuffed!! I haven't done ANY exercise since about 14 weeks along when my hip started playing up. Is anyone going to be doing any post natal exercise classes? My midwife suggested them as i have quite bad muscle separation and also want to really tone up my pelvic floor as Archie was engaged for 16 weeks and was pressing down so hard on my bladder! I'm going to have to find somewhere close by that does them. Is anyone else worried about getting "back to normal" again? I have definately noticed the recovery is better this time with no episiotomy. But it is something i always worry about!! haha!
Well most of that was typed with one hand so i guess i am getting pretty good and this "looking after baby" business.. haha! Just have a few other minor details to master then i'll be all set!
Have a great day ladies!
Kymmy x
Hi Kymmy and Ubba :D
I should definitely do something about my pelvic floor, cos things definitely aren't the same down there - these days I have to run to the toilet with my legs crossed so nothing spills.. LOL
As for slings - I had her in the Close Carrier this morning, she loves it, falls asleep almost immediately in it. I think I had her in it for almost 2 hours, so got dinner prepared, and a cake baked, and went and hung out the washing, checked the mail etc etc - much easier to get things done while she sleeps on me!!! At the moment I have her in my Bubba Moe sling, which isn't as comfy, but its a little cooler than the Close Carrier, and its a tad hot in our house at the moment, so didn't want her to overheat. Oh, so I have a Close Carrier, Bubba Moe and an Ergo. Addicted much? lol
OOh. I smell poo. DS is near me. Best go change a nappy.
Hi Kymmy and Ubba!
Hi Arimeh! Are you on FB? If you are and you want to send me a request feel free, Alison Lewkowski. Won't be offended if not. I just saw your little ticker pic and thought oh how cute and wanted to see more ha ha!
I was very strict with my pelvic floor exercises whilst pregnant, haven't been so good since having Amelia but I remember from time to time. I haven't noticed any problems yet, I guess the c-section helps a little but I've heard it still affects your pelvic floor regardless so best get cracking back into the exercises!
I just downloaded the photo's from my camera from DS1's birthday to now & its got Mr I's first bath - I have no memory of the photos being taken!
Arimeh - you're doing better than me with the Close carrier - I had a hard time hanging out the washing with Mr I in it - must watch the DVD again to make sure I'm doing it right. But he does love being in it and falls asleep really quickly. In answer to your question from pages ago L loves being a big brother, he's a little agressively affectionate so I spend all my time saying gentle or moving Mr I out of his reach. You're doing better than me getting cakes baked too - I've had rum balls to roll out for 2 weeks now & I still haven't done it - that does have the advantage that I haven't eaten any rum balls though.
Kymmy - I'm doing pelvic floor exicises when I think of it (which isn't often) and my only other exercise is chasing 3 yo about and housework (which isn't as often as I should - I'm a slob). My house is messier when DH is around too.
I drop food on Mr I about once a day, when I'm at home its not too bad, but when I'm out its a bit embarrasing to have a young baby with food stains on his clothes. I did that to the Duke too so I'm obviously not going to learn the secret of eating and holding a baby.
Snowy - I struggled at first with the close carrier, got the knack now though, gotta make sure the cross section is quite low down your back and the straps are really quite tight with a young bubba - I had her lying sideways and quickly going downwards one day... LOL
And do you wanna share your recipe for those rum balls?!?! Yummo!!!!!
Alison - added you :D
Hi girls,
Well its such a hot day here in Melbourne today! I went to my 2nd mothersgroup meeting, luckily it was nice and cool there :D
Natty - wow your getting smiles already, thats GREAT! Trent only smiles when he is sleeping, probably dreaming about eating, lol The goat casserole sounds interesting!
Alison - late night shopping sounds like a plan. Its been 6 weeks since my c-section and just lifting the capsule in and out of the car is a struggle plus the nappy bag. Im not game enough to lift the pram out as yet! I felt like a pack horse today with everything, lol If you dont mind, can I add you on facebook too? Im not friends with any of you lovely girls as yet.
Snowy - Im the same as you with the pelvic floor muscles, do them when I think about it which is every now and then...oops  Its too much to remember! Trent comes first and I come second basically.
Kymmy - I havent done much exercise at all either, not enough time
Tess - hello and welcome :D The more the merrier I say!!!
:hello: to Heavenly, Arimeh, Ubba and anyone else I have missed.
AFU, well Trent is 6 weeks today  I cant believe how quickly it has gone! He still has lots of problems with wind so every night is different. He didnt sleep well yesterday during the day, about 1hr each time and then my DP's parents came over last night, by the time we bathed and feed him and DP's mum had some cuddles with him, he was up for 3 hrs  He then slept from 9pm - 3am! That was a BIG surprise. I think he may have been very tired. He then slept in 2-3 hr blocks after that which is about the norm. I was hoping we'd turned a corner with his sleeping! Will wait and see what happens tonight.
My 2nd mothersgroup meeting went well. The girls all seem very nice and am hoping I make some new friends there. They all live locally which is good too. We exchanged numbers today so we can stay in touch over the Christmas/New Year break as our next meeting is mid Jan.
Take care girls,
Tania
Hi all! I just HAD to log on to share a bit of a woohoo... V got up at 7 this morning and after a feed, some time with dh and I went to bed again at 930 but woke crying about an hour later but let me pat her back to sleep. She slept for about 4 hours then up again to eat and really alert and fun, looking around and enjoying looking at toys and me. She looked tired so I put her down again but this time she has woken after an hour and a half but I managed to get dinner made in the meantime..Woop! I hope she keeps this up because it feels great not to have heard her upset today, just the normal grizzles but nothing major..just thought I share..lol.
Missmaggie, Hi! Id love to go to a mums group but there is nothing until next year here...I hope Trent has decided he will sleep longer at night for you, I really feel I should have slept more when preggo, I cant believe I had insomnia lol. Dont forget to add me on fb too :)
Arimeh, Hi! Everytime you girls say "pelvic floor" I do some but thats it lol..I have a peanut shell sling but V tends to get a bit lost in it kwim?
Snowy, Hi! thanks for making me feel better about dropping food on V. It must have been a blur for you to have forgotten the photos but thats great hey!
Kymmy good luck tomorrow you will do fine, you might find that you do really well together and enjoy the time to bond alone hehe. I love being with V on my own but dread leaving homelol.
Ubba hi!!!! Well we finally made it over here the times they are a changing,,,
Hi everyone else! I hope you all have a great night.
Just heared a really big noise come out of my girl so I should see why although I can guess lol
x natty
Im baaaack! lol! And I have my boobs to myself YAY!
So Ruby was born on 5th Dec, due on the 24th November. I was induced with gel, had a 1hr16min labour then a PPH.
Ruby has been sleeping so well during the day but waking every couple of hours overnight. She is also a comfort sucker so I have used a dummy a few times - not that that is a problem, I love dummies for sanity reasons!
Im going to head off to bed shortly and try and get some sleep incase Ruby decides to be up all night.... I will catch up with persies soon. DH starts his holidays on Saturday for 4 weeks so I will have more time to get onto BB.
If anyone wants to add me to FB its Rebecca Ozols :D I am on prepaid internet at the moment and all my credit gets taken from downloading and uploading which is the reason I havnt added any photos of Ruby yet, we should have normal internet up and running by Friday!
Night All
Bec
xx
Good afternoon girls,
Well after a HEATWAVE in Melb yesterday, its now raining with thunder today! Im very happy for the cool change and Im sure Trent is too, the poor little thing. Luckily we have air-con as it worked a treat yesterday :D
Natty - I have added you to FB :D Thats a bugger about mothersgroup not starting till next year. I have found it a great source of info and as I have said previously, will be nice to make some friends with new mums like myself
Ubba - I have added you as well to FB :D Will be nice to share photos of each others precious little bundles. Hopefully Ruby will start sleeping more for you at night.
Have a good day all!
Cheers,
Tania
Hi Tania - feel free to add me to FB as well if you like, Alison Lewkowski. I thought I already had you but obviously not!
Yuk to the heatwave, it's going to be warm in Perth again this weekend, thank goodness for aircon huh!
I just rang the insurance company and there's no limit on when I can drive after a c-section, it's at the discretion of the OB, the OB said if I feel comfortable to drive now I can, he'd rather I wait till 4 weeks but I can go short distances - just no lifting the pram!!!! DH is taking me to Mothers Group today, looking forward to my first one, didn't want to wait until next year as I want to weigh Amelia today and also get some tips and tricks and listen to others in the same boat so I feel normal LOL!
Had a good night with Amelia, she slept for 3 hours straight so was only feeding every 4 instead of 3 hours last night, expressed yesterday so DH did the 6.00 am feed and I slept until 8.30 am from 2.30 am, awesome. Although after her 9.30 am feed this morning she is still awake and it's now 11.30 am! She's quiet, but awake, falls asleep on my lap but as soon as I try to put her in the pram she wakes again....grrrr ha ha.
Hi Tania - thanks for adding me on FB, now we can share piccies etc. :D
AFM - went to my first mothers group today, it's nice to know you're normal and everything you're feeling and experiencing is normal. I'm the second oldest at 36, there's a 38 year old who has a colicky (sp?) baby, poor thing was quite upset but we had a good chat and she was ok by the end. Made me realise I shouldn't complain. Weighed Amelia and she's a little over her birth weight so the Health Nurse was really chuffed, she's exactly 8 pounds now. Everyone couldn't get over how little she looks though, I think she must have heavy bones like her dad - DH can't float in the water, true story, heavy bones! Also her legs go on forever so maybe they take up some weight too hee hee. She was a bit fussy again today but is sound asleep now. The health nurse said at 2 weeks they can go through a fussy stage and she might need feeding more during the day so her sleep at night can be extended between feeds so going to give that a shot, it's all about trial and error huh!
I also rang the insurance company and they don't have any limits on when you can drive after a c-section, it's up to the OB apparently. He wants me to wait until 4 weeks but said I can go short distances now if I'm careful and feel comfortable enough, but no lifting the pram in and out of the car! Yay, can't wait to get out of the house and feel at least semi-normal again! Also got the hospital bill in the mail today, hooly dooly I nearly had a coronary, nearly $7000!!! Luckily I have top health cover and only pay the $250 excess, certainly got my moneys worth out of HBF this year!!!!! I wonder how much cheaper it would've been had I not needed to go to theatre, hmmmmm, not bad considering all up I was in theatre for 1 hour but the actual time recorded for when they started (I guess cutting me open hee hee) to when Amelia was actually born was 6 minutes!!!!!!!!!! It was more afterwards that took up the time!
Hope everyone else is doing well. :D
Hi girls,
Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Xmas!! We are off in the morning down to my parents place for Xmas so prob wont be around much.
I hope you all enjoy your festive season with your new additions as much as we will.
See you in the New Year
Morning Ladies!
Hi Tygress- Thanks for your Christmas wishes, hoping you and your family have a safe and happy Christmas too xxx
After having 2 decent nights sleep with Ruby, she decided last night was just taking it too far. She was awake from 10-midnight, had about 3 boobs in that time before I finally decided to get the dummy out. She went to sleep and woke at 1.30am for a feed. She wouldnt settle in her cradle so she slept in our bed. She woke again at 5.30am, had a feed and was awake for an hour and has now been asleep for 2.5 hrs. Hoping to get another hour out of her although after all her feeding lately I just had a letdown so now my boobs are full....ahhhh we just cant win ;)
Im still not aloud to drive and am getting really sick of being stuck at home. DH has been at work all week but thankfully finishes this afternoon for 4 weeks so I will have him to drive me around. I just want to go to the shops to finish off my Christmas shopping. I want to wrap the kids pressies but cant cause I need extras to go in each parcel - like I want to buy the kids a few extra clothing items and some undies to put in their clothes parcel etc. I will get it done on Monday I think.
DH uploaded some photos of Ruby and the kids to his FB and tagged me so I think they should show up on my FB page if you want to have a look.
Have a great day, I will probably log on again throughout the day - When I should be sleeping...
Hello Ladies!
Ubba: I looked for your photos but couldn't find them! Maybe your hubby has a privacy setting so only his friends can see them?? I haven't even started my xmas shopping yet! :o
Well, we did buy Archie this beautiful bright orange ukelele!! Haha! Not that he'll be able to use it for ages! I am hoping to do some begining of next week or maybe tomorrow, not sure yet... might just give chrissy a miss this year.... wishful thinking!
Tygress: Merry Xmas to you and your family too! Have a great time! x
Alison: You lucky duck joining a mummy's group! I wouldn't even know where to start looking to join one! Sounds like you had a good time! Thats great that Amelia is stacking on the weight, Archie has put on almost 0.5kg since birth :o I suppose you'd have to expect that when he's been feeding pretty much every HOUR! ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHH! My poor bosoms are killing me!
Tania: I don't think i have you on FB.. I'm Kym Stokes.. Feel free to add me!
Natty: WOOOHHOOOO!!! I am very jealous! Archie sleeps well at night but during the day he is very much the catnapper.. He has no time for sleeping, there are BOOBIES to be tended to! It is very frustrating because i cant get anything done! Managed to make cookies this morning though, it took about two hours to actually complete the task but managed to get it done in the end!
AFM: You'll never guess what happened to me!!!! Last night we decided to see if my wedding ring fits me yet (for those who don't know I got married at 39 weeks and my ring wouldn't fit at the ceremony cos my hand was swollen!) to cut a long story short, got ring on, extremely tight fit, finger majorly swollen, couldn't get it off, tried EVERYTHING to get it off, ice, dishwashing liq, vaseline, cream etc, finger turned PURPLE, HAD TO CUT RING OFF WITH TIN SNIPS!!!!!!!!! AAAARRGGHHHH!!! DH took it to the jeweller this morning and luckily they can fix it....... I couldn't believe it!!
Archie has still been feeding every waking hour or so... it is sooooo exhausting! I went to a lactation consultant yesterday and she said it is probably not very good for him to be feeding that often as it doesn't give his digestive system time to rest. Not to mention ME time to rest! My boobs are killing me! She suggested other ways to settle him (swaddling, dummy, sling etc) but so far today i have fed him 8 times since 6am and it's only 2.30pm now! Nothing seems to settle him and i KNOW he can't be THAT hungry cos sometimes he drinks and then spits out the milk!!! I have a sling but, as i mentioned before, i hate it as it makes me claustrophobic! I am lucky enough to have a friend who is going to lend me a wrap style sling so i will pick that up on Sunday and see how that goes. He has been asleep for about half an hour now though so thats good news... Oh i am soooo jealous of you all that have babies that sleep for a few hours at a time!!! I suppose i can't complain too much cos he is very good during the night, just feeds every 3-4 hours then goes back to sleep... well, that has been the pattern for the last few nights anyway! Each day the pattern changes!!! Just have to get used to living day by day!!!!
Waiting for Harvey Norman to come and pick our plasma up as it is playing up! Wish they would have told us a time that they'd be here cos i've spent all day sitting around waiting for them....GRRRR!
Have a great day ladies!!!
Kym x
Hi Kymmy - OMG re your rings! I still can't get my wedding rings on either, it sux! I had the same problem getting them off, left them on and woke up to swollen fingers one day, nearly had to cut them off like you, freaked out and tried everything, ended up with olive oil and lots of pulling and tugging getting them off, my finger nearly came off with them however and it killed!!!!!!! Shame about not having a mothers group, the hospital organised it all for me, you must be able to find out where your local child health centre is as that's who run the mothers groups in Perth. :D I have my pregnancy aqua class girls as well and we've sort of formed our own little group so I have 2!!! :D
Amelia has been sleeping better at night the last 2 nights (Ubba, I'll probably have your problem when it ceases as quick as it began)....but she's fussy during the day and seems to want more and more booby as well like you Kymmy, the health nurse told me yesterday at this age they start to have a growth spurt and need more so I'm just going with the flow for now and feeding her a little more, as long as she sleeps at night that's the main thing. Only thing is she is also wanting to stay awake more so cries unless I cuddle her till she falls asleep. After her 9.30 am feed this morning she was awake until 1.00 pm!!!!!! Yikes! She's been fast asleep since though so will have to wake her soon for another feed. It puts the routine I'm trying to establish out the window but I've decided to go with it for now, she's only young still and I'm just far too impatient! :wall: Sounds like our two are in a similar pattern Kymmy! Do you use a dummy? That saves me because Amelia is a comfort sucker, Archie is probably the same.
Hi Ubba, I rang the insurance company yesterday and there's no rules on driving for me, it's up to the OB apparently. OB wants me to wait 4 weeks but he said if I want to drive short distances, ie to the shops now I can if I promise to be careful....but no lifting the pram so I can't really go anywhere without that and he doesn't want me using the Baby Bjorn until 6 weeks either because of the pressure on the abdo. Having a c-section sux doesn't it!
Hi Tygress - wishing you and your family a Happy Christmas and exciting New Year as well, enjoy your little visit to your parents. It's exciting having a bubby for Christmas isn't it, my family are all so excited, it's quite funny especially as she doesn't really know what's going on. :o
Hi ladies,
please excuse me for not using caps but im one hand typing...
Ubba i cant see the photos either..Omg your night last night sounds a bit like mine lol..How do you get them to use a dummy? V hates any dummy and will cry if you try to give her one...she will take an ebm bottle though... I hope your night tonight is better sleep deprivation is torture....
Tania our weather must be following yours! tday im wearing ugg boots while yesterdat was sweltering...How cute are the sleeping smiles though...like they are dreaming of boobies everywhere haha, you will get them soon...my dh is sad he hasnt got any but he isnt here with her all the time so thee you go
Alison whoa! having a baby cerainly is exxy! Thank gosh you were in top hospital cover. it sounds like you and Amelia are getting into a groove. As for nights we just let v sleep whenever at night and are gradually letting her do the same for days an its becoming somewhat regular...We know now she is placid in the mornings and not so much in the evenings where she wants to be held like you mentioned with Amelia. today im going to try the sling to see if it makes a difference to her outlook...
Merry Christmas Tygress!! ihope you have a great time with your family....must admit this year will be a bit special with a little one :)
Hi Kimmie, oh you must be so tired. And your poor bbs i know in the evenings when v goes all weird my nipples cop a caning and it feels terrible. maybe just slowly space feeds out so he gets hungrier so sucks better at each feed? Does he take a dummy? v hates them so i have to help her out with comfort sucking..it makes for a very full on experience when you have a million things to do and baby has other ideas..well done on making the biccies though...Oh im glad you still have your finger too :o
Hi everyone else!
afm, V was so upset yesterday after her dream run...i suppose it had to happen lol she finally settled at 1am!!!! in bed with us then slept till 8am :o I know some are not even getting that much of a break so i should be grateful hey...we had a change and feed and went back to sleep to be woken up by dh snapping photos of us cuddled up in bed...
Today i am trying the sling to keep her occupied during her cranky time (dh makes the jaws theme song to indicate if she is going to crack it lol..) it is working intermittently but then i wonder if i am just postponing the inevitable....i wonder if she sleeps so well because she uses a lot of energy losing it in he evenings???
my 3 sils are coming to visit from melbourne tomorrow so we are looking forward to that. Have a great night ladies

Hi there everyone and welcome to newbies....
It's hard to keep up in here when you havent been around a couple of days!!!
Abbey has been sleeping a fair bit which has been good....although as soon as you arrive at the shops thats when she decides to wake up and I'm petrified that she's going to lose it in the middle of my shopping so on Thurs I was a wimp and ran home not long after I got there.....
She put on 250gm this week so that's good....I'm so anxious about my supply decreasing etc that I need to hear that so I know it's all going OK...though you can tell she's becoming chubby by looking at her but I'm a figures girl so I'll be annoying the ladies at the clinic for a while yet....
She always seems to fall asleep at the boob most times I feed her so I usually only get one side in at a time....I should be getting her on both sides at the one feed shouldnt I cause really both sides are only getting a feed every 5 or so hours hey and that's not going to help my supply is it?
JD has conjunctivitis at the moment and poor Abbey is having a few little crusties in her eyes so I have special wipes for both of them so fingers crossed it doesnt get any worse....how can a child that attends kindy one day a week come home with a rash every single week and now bring home this??? Drives me mad, but he needs the socialisation since life at home is pretty boring for him at the minute....
Anyway, sorry for the ramble and no personals....
Hope everyone had a good night....not too bad for us....up at 1:30 then again at 4:30 so feeling alright today....
Talk soon
Shayna
PS - For new girls, I'm on FB too under Shayna Delaforce if you want to be friends....
Hi Madame - yay you found us! Glad you're sticking with us, your one of the group so you have to! We're looking forward to seeing some pics of Harper, the one with hubby she looks so tiny and sweet. So glad you had a girl, how adorable, one of each lucky you! xx
Hi JDs Mum - I only feed on one boob at a time too, Amelia falls asleep after about 15-20 minutes, some times 10 minutes. I've taken to changing her nappy mid feed to wake her up again and continue, I'm trying to get 30 minutes out of her or she wakes not long after wanting more!
AFM - after 2 great nights we had a terrible night last night. I fed Amelia at 5.30 pm and she went straight to sleep...only problem is both DH and I fell asleep on the couch at 8.30 pm (I was going to wake her for a feed around 9.00 pm/9.30 pm) and neither of us woke up until 10.30 pm and Amelia was still asleep! So she went 5 hours between feeds which I think was too long because for the rest of the night she was up and down all night wanting a feed and crying when I put her down......we ended up putting her in the bed at 5.30 am cause she always drops off in our bed and we slept until 8.30 am. I know we shouldn't do that but when we need sleep we will try anything! I feel a bit zombie like today but I have to go to my sisters this arvo for her birthday so can't even have an arvo nap. Should grab an hour now before we go but I reckon it will make me feel more tired only having 1 hour, if that makes sense! Oh well, such is life. Amelia is being good today though so at least she's not crying etc. I find the crying stresses me when I'm super tired ha ha. I can't wait till things are more structured and not so up and down from day to day, gosh I'm impatient, she's only 2.5 weeks old ha ha!
Hi Girls,
Just a quick selfish post cause I am supposed to be wrapping christmas pressies while Ruby is asleep and the other 2 kids are at my dads for the night...
Alison, I didnt have a c-section I just have to treat my body like I have had one cause of the muscle separation on pelvic instability. Either way, it really does suck haing to rely on other people to drive you around or just being stuck at home.
The MCHN came for Ruby's 2 week appointment. She put on 380g in 1 week!!! I have a physio appointment on Wednesday to try and help with my pelvic pains, we'll see.
I will try and post the photos onto FB myself.
Love Bec
xx
hiya ladies
just a quick one from me- day 2 of being home with 2 kiddies and dh at work!!!!
it seems ok so far- tully gets a bit jealous and wants to hop up on me when in feeding harper, but he has been so beautiful otherwise. he wont stop kissing her!
mw came for our second home visit yesterday and we had harper weighed as they didnt do it on discharge- and She is up 80 gms!!!!! hasnt lost at all since birth! Im so glad as i was worried she wasnt feeding enough as she was falling asleep after 10 mins on one side- but the mw who is a LC said she must suck really strong in the beginning and have enough! Its great coz shes just a little tacker anyway so im happy to pork her up!
hope you all had a good night last night
chat soon

Hi guys :D
Nice to see everyone having similar nights to me! :D My bub must be the only one not gaining a lot of weight though - she only put on 70g in 12 days - but DD1 was a slow gainer too (although they weren't worried cos she was formula fed so will be funny to see if they think its a problem since DD2 is bfed) not sure when our next check up is, sometime this week I think - the MCHN makes home visits to me at the moment because with the ages of my kids, its hard for me to get out anywhere on my own. Plus we only have the one car that DH uses for work, so its a drama to get the car with all 3 kids in tow!
I got lucky last night - only had to feed once, and I think it was at around 1.45/2am something like that. Then she stirred at 5.30am so I popped her into bed with me and she fell asleep again until DS woke me up at 6.45 - then we got up and left DH and DD1 in her room (DH went out last night, got horribly drunk so had passed out next to DD1's bed.. lol)
DD2 is going through the "I don't want to sleep unless you are holding me" stage. I think she has horrible wind issues (or reflux) and won't sleep during the day at all unless I'm holding her in my arms, or in my sling, or she falls asleep on the boob. Not a problem - if she was my only child!!! She is currently sleeping in DH's arms on the couch, so at least my arms are getting a break. Still - not going to complain cos she's my last and these will be my last newborn snuggles EVER (sad to think...) so trying to make the most of it.
Better go - DH is getting up DS for something so must go intervene ;)
OH - question - is everyone buying bubs something for xmas? I got stuff for the bigger kids, but not for DD2 cos she won't know the difference.. lol.. (am I mean?)
Arimeh - Do nappies count as Xmas pressies? :p I've gotten a few things (socks with bells & a shirt from Santa and a couple of toys from us - it would have been the other way around but L saw the toys so he knew I bought them) for Mr I just so L doesn't ask why Mr I didn't get anything.
Alison: Don't worry too much about having Amelia in bed - Mr I is in my bed all night (DH isn't if L wakes during the night or if he falls asleep putting L to bed like he did last night) As long as you follow the safe sleep guidelines - no doonas (and I'm sure you don't have a doona in this weather) and you and DH aren't affected by drugs or alcohol or have sleep apnoea its fine to have bub's in bed. I am getting so much more sleep this time & I think its safer for me as I was falling asleep with L in my arms sitting up during night feeds when he was new.
We had our first big car trip Friday and back yesterday - went to the other side of Brisbane for my Dad's family get together. Mr I cried on the way down, but he was due for his afternoon cluster feed. Mr I slept mostly on the way back, but we had to stop for 4 wee breaks for L so I gave him a feed halfway home. My car is making the most attrotious noise at low speeds, so I have to find a mechanic to look at it on Tuesday.
My cousin who is due in Feb (and has a 5yo) looked at the size of Mr I in shock - she said is he a normal size for 5 weeks. I assured her he's grown alot and L was the same (and all babies on my Mum's side are the same). Her first bub was 1lb lighter than my boys also so I don't think she needs to worry.
We went to dinner at Sizzler with PIL on Friday night - nice not to have to worry about listeria eating the salad bar (not that it was that good).
I have my 6 week appointment on Monday - I wonder if my Ob will have the hospital notes as she missed the birth.
hi girls...
hope you have all had a lovely weekend :)
madamerogers, hope things are going well for you :) sounds like telly is a lovely big brother!
ubba & JDsMum.... gr8 weight gain!!
dh is off work for 2.5 weeks now for christmas.... its gr8 to have my cook bak lol. ella is doing gr8, she has been gaining weight and feeding well.
alison, was going to say to you about the night time feeds and ella sleeping though the night (cant remember what thead it came up on)... i didnt want to let her go all night with out a feed but i was up one night when she did it the first time trying to make her feed for 5 hours straight but she just wouldnt!!! i was crying because she wouldnt feed and i was so tired.... the next day i disgust it with my midwife and she said if shes not going to feed shes not going to feed and there is no way i can force her.... so iv been letting her sleep all night.... she goes 8 hours stright but like i said shes still gainning weight and as my midwife said all babies are different.
hello to the rest of you lovely ladies and your beautiful babies ;)
Hi Girls - I've missed a few posts but it sounds like everyone is doing well and having lovely weekends. It's really hot in Perth this weekend. Had a good night last night, Amelia did the 4 hourly stretches so only got up twice and had a bit of a lie in....I put her in the bed at 7.00 am and slept until 9.00 am, wahoooo! Feel much better today, although DH is asleep on the couch with Amelia asleep in her usual spot, on his chest. I love how the blokes need naps in the day, I know he wakes when I do and he did get up and change her nappy for me last night but still, they don't physically have to sit there and feed for 30 minutes....in fact, he lies there and snores and some times I'm so tired I feel like punching him ha ha! How horrible am I!
As for the Chrissy present for Amelia, I wasn't going to buy her anything as she's got so much already and all my family have bought her Chrissy pressies and like you said Arimeh she won't know.....but I relented at the shops today and got her a small little toy thing for her pram, that's all, I would've bought it anyway LOL. And Amelia is a bit the same re wanting to sleep in my arms, I generally have to wait for her to fall asleep before I can put her down, must be a phase.
Hi Snowy - thanks re the bed thing, I feel better now. We have been doing it in the mornings and it really gives us a bit more sleep so happy about that and we're very careful, no alcohol, neither of us smoke and no doona etc. I'm amazed the amount of people who do it. :D
Hi Billykat - you are so lucky re Ella sleeping through, I want one of those ha ha!
I have a question too, my OB gave me a script for the mini pill before he discharged me, I didn't ask for it he just gave it to me. I'm supposed to start taking it as of tomorrow but I'm really not sure whether to or not. Before falling pregnant I'd been on the pill for 20 years and as I'm planning on trying for another down the track (probably start trying in 12-18 months as I'll be 37 next year) - I don't know whether to bother or not. I don't know much about the mini pill, I know it's better for those breastfeeding but is touchier re with the fact you have to take it at the same time or it's not as effective etc. Does anyone else know much about it and is anyone else doing the same? I loved being on the pill for ease of convenience etc but I don't fancy having to try and get it out of my system again when I try to fall pregnant again. Although, the idea of using condoms doesn't excite me much either!!!!!!!!!
Never really used the pill were doing the pull out method lol but I don't o til 5 months after I stop bf anyways...
I got serenity a lil ball it's a hard one with lights noise pop out kitty Luke $15 the others got a bike and a $30 toy from Santa
Dh is on holidays starting Tuesday til the 11 I think
