Hi Natty - had a quick squiz, will read more when I have time - that's interesting though, I didn't know it came from a religious thing??? My friend did it so bought me a copy. I don't follow it word for word or anything, I just adopted the concept on the feeding schedule so I could teach her night from day etc - I am pretty flexible with it and not strict, it's actually a very similar routine to one my other friend is doing which came from the Contented Baby or one of those so I'm not worried. I won't be following it for anything else, I was interested to read the one about introducing solids but it was mostly to get her into a routine so she wasn't wanting to feed constantly as I'd seen for myself how hard it can be to get them into a routine when demand feeding. My health nurse said the way I'm doing it is great, she said that she had 5 kids and the 4th one she demand fed as it had just become really popular back in the early 80's and she said the first 3 kids were sleeping through the night by 8 weeks and the 4th took 18 months!! She said as long in the early weeks you are feeding them every 3-4 hours, no longer and they are growing nicely etc then it's fine. That's really the only Babywise concept I've been following, is a time thing....I have another friend who didn't really follow any books and her baby did this anyway which to be honest I think Amelia was quite in that 3 hourly routine anyway so I was lucky it just worked out well.

Well, I visited nana today, I have no idea if she knew who we were, she kind of did but was more just happy that we'd visited in general. She absolutely adored Amelia and kept saying how perfect and precious she was and every now and then she'd use a phrase like she used to like "what a gorgeous little sausage" - it was funny. She did ask me a million times her name and mum kept saying it was Amelia Alice, and she'd say oh that's a lovely name and mum would say, yes, your middle name is Alice too and she'd say, oh how lovely. ha ha. I'm not sure she put the two together. It was quite a depressing place, the home itself is new so it was lovely - they even have big flat screen tellys in their rooms but just full of people who had no idea. My nana must be around 40 kgs and has no teeth now, she had to take out her dentures as she suffers neuralgia (sp?) so her face has sunk in a bit. There were a few ladies who were a bit creepy following us around and they just stare lol, honestly though, I really don't want to get to that stage. My nana just turned 91, that's a good innings but sometimes I think it would be nice if you could decide when you'd had enough. She tells everyone she's just about done - but she's been saying that for about 5 years now! Anyway, I got a nice pic of her with Amelia and I feel much better for visiting her.

Anyway, been out all day and desperately need to sit and relax, been running around everywhere! Hope you all have a lovely evening. xx

    Hey ladies!
Just popping in to say hello!

Kymmy I hope you feel better soon... and your dad too. If i lived close by i'd pop into macca's and buy you a bigmac, help give you some cushion back, hehe

Natty i'm glad your visibility is now 100% Nothing better than a wax and tint to make you feel human again! Theo won't take a dummy either, he's also nipple addict.

JDs Mum - Hope your visitors have buggered off and you're now going free range with those boobies! bahahaha! I'm exactly the same, hate wearing a bra all the time! Even with my F cup ladies

Madame - how are your little cheerubs going? how's the ww going? Last weeks weigh in left me -10.7kg. which meant i hit my 10% mark! yeehaa! Having another crapo week again tho, so expecting my loss to be poor - but hey, that takeaway weekend was prettty darn delish!

Snowy - i hope that standing and bouncing counts as exercise! Cause that and trolley pushing is about all i get aswell! Hope your gorgeous kiddies are happy and healthy

Alison - sending you some rep points for visiting your gma. makes me think of my gdad.. time is precious, you should visit more often

Ubba - Ahh, sometimes mothers have the best intentions.. but all they end up doing is peeing you off. Vent away. I won't be giving theo solids until 6 months either (unless he shows strong signs of needing some). DD started at 5.5 months. The other day my mum tried to give theo some water from her cup. I cracked it. And she couldn't understand why.

AFM - Mum went and bought DD a new carseat today! So now she's in the big one, and i've taken theo's capsule out, and put him in her old one (but backwards). She also got theo a new blanket which is just BEAUTIFUL! My lordie its gorgeous! Mum also got kaili wiggles tickets!!!

    k, better head off.
    love to all
    xx

Hi Madame - wow that's awesome mate, gosh you're doing so well! I need to pull my thumb out for sure! If you want to get to 60 kgs at 163 cm I need to be less then that then! I'm 159 cms, I say 160 cms (what 1 cm between friends lol) - I feel best at around 57/58 kgs but I'm usually about 58/59. I am going to hopefully start the Wii Fit Plus this morning, have to wait for Amelia to go down for her morning nap although not sure how I'll go today, I just woke her after a 10 hour sleep last night! I normally wouldn't but her nappy was leaking it was so full so I tried to change her but she woke up. Then I felt bad for waking her, can't win!

Hi Telly - 10 kgs, OMG hot stuff that's fabbo! You and Madame are so fantastic, well done!!!!

Hi Kymmy - oh no what did the Doc say?

Hi Mon - me and you both, I need to get my act together instead of whinging every day about how fat I am.

AFM - I got my first period yesterday! I thought something was up as the day before I had some cramping. Boy is it bright red and heavy, I guess it's the cleanest it's been for a while lol (sorry TMI). At first I felt sad and angry as it was just another reminder of my breastfeeding failure but then I read even if you're fully breastfeeding you can get them after 3 months so I felt a bit better. Oh well, back to the monthly aches and pains then I guess. I figure at least I know my body is working again I suppose. lol

Oh Kymmy I hope its not what Im thinking.....

Good on all you skinny girls lol

I am LOVING my little girl so much lately even though she is waking me up all the time haha, she is getting so much personality and I love her little morning smiles when Ive taken her to bed with me early in the morning. 2 mornings ago she vomited on me, the next she peed in the bed out the side of the nappy so this morning I changed her beforehand only for her to do a mega turd and it to come out into her blanket I had wrapped around....purely because I just KNEW she was after a trifecta lol. So that was twice I had to change our sheets and mattress protector...eeeewww.. Seriously though she is so fun though and she loves dh so much too, her face lights up when he gets home from work. awww.

    Oh she is 5.8kg today @ 16w5d

    Sorry.. selfish..xxx

ha ha Madame - I hadn't thought of it like that but you're right! lol

Forgot to ask, is anyone else's bubs trying to talk? Well when I say talk I mean are they making noises like they're whinging? Amelia is but she is happy and playing with toys so I think it's her finding her voice!!!

    Hey everyone….

Been MIA for a few days – went to Brissy to see the Backstreet Boys…I know, they are very lame but we used to love them 10 years ago (god I’m old!) so it was a trip down memory lane!!! I cant believe they are all in their mid / late 30’s now!!! They seemed like little boys when I used to drool over Nick!!!

Heavenly – Hope you aren’t getting sick…..Hayfever is the worst thing!! I get it really bad sometimes and nothing will make it go away until I go to bed that night and wake up the next day and it’s gone….it makes me want to rip my nose off my face and scratch my eyes out….not to mention the runny nose as well…not fun!

Alison – Abbey is VERY vocal sometimes….if me and her are the first ones up in the mornings I’m worried she’s going to wake JD up she goes on that loud sometimes…..it’s very cute though….you can have little conversations with her….glad you visited your Grandma…mine’s in a facility like that although she is quite with it (most of the time anyway!) but as she is in high care the only bed for her is in the lock up dementia section so she’s in with the dementia people…most of them are lovely though although there is a man there that keeps wandering into her room that she goes off about every now and then…it is sad…she’s really skinny and is scabby – not half of the woman she used to be…though she loves seeing JD and Abbey, I think that’s pretty much what she lives for. We usually get up there about twice a week so she enjoys that…

Natty – So glad you are loving little V so much….everytime I look at the pic of her with that hat on it makes me laugh….that’s a priceless pic! Their personalities are coming out more and more aren’t they? Cant believe it’s been nearly 4 months….times flies doesn’t it! She’s really got it in for you and that bed by the sounds….

Kymmy – Also hope that things are OK with you : (

Go Madame and Telly – great work on the weight…..god I’m hopeless….I was sitting on the lounge this morning watching the Biggest Loser and eating potato gems at the same time….I’ve got no hope if I’m doing that….

Telly – Visitors have buggered off thank god….they weren’t that bad really but I just felt out of whack with them here and not being able to do my own thing and having crap all over the place….I’ve got F’s as well so it’s not a pretty sight for anyone to see me braless….poor DH….he didn’t sign up for this when he met me I’m sure!!

AFM – I’ve had 2 unexpected visitors today so when I hear the front gate open I have to make a dash for the bra to get myself decent lol!!! I’m gross I know!

As I said above I went to Brisbane on Monday night so I took the pump with me to keep my supply up and Abbey was on bottles for about 27 or so hours….she’s had good feeds last night and one this morning but has refused my left one the last couple of times I tried….I hope that she hasn’t decided to not want booby anymore….it’s just so much easier…will keep persevering….

She had her 4 month old shots yesterday and screamed the house down with the first one...nothing much with the second jab but I think she was still in shock from the first one so didn’t react. I had her little butterfly / beetle thing with me that makes noises and flashes so showed her that afterwards and it settled her down…JD also got his swine flu shot and I was more worried about him losing it but the nurse was really good and just kept talking to him about other things, didn’t mention the needle, and just jabbed him and it was done – he didn’t even know so that was a relief!!

Had 2 good nights with Abbey then last night was a shocker again….still think it’s wind as it’s a really painful cry and she’s stinky when I get to her so that has to be it…I haven’t eaten anything really on the no no list so I just want it to stop!! I thought she would have sorted it out by nearly 16 weeks!!

Better go and watch more TV…nothing like wasting a day away is there!!!

    Hey Ladies!

It's been a while! Ok, I have a confession to make... I do check in here pretty much at least once a week and catch up with you all but never post I guess it's coz' the longer I leave it the more I feel left out so no more! I feel like I know you all sooo well now from reading all the time and I want a piece of the action hahahaha

I'll give a quick update on us...

Cruz is doing so well, he's 7.5kgs now and just a gorgeous happy little boy A super chatter box and has started giving us the most gorgeous giggles and belly laughs now - Always squealing and cooing, he's just beautiful! Since he was 7 weeks old we've had a pretty flexible routine happening with him and it works great - He wakes up in between 7-8 in the morning, has his breaky, naps for an hour somwhere in between 9 - 10 to 10 - 11, has a feed, plays, then goes back to bed between 12 - 1 for at least 2 hours so gets up between 2 - 3 has a feed, playtime, then has a short nap between 4 and 5 for anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour, then has a bath with his Daddy (which the both LOVE! It's their fave time of the day for sure!) has his dinner, has cuddle time and stories and is in bed asleep no later than 7pm... Then we wake him up anywhere between 9:30 and 11pm, he has his biggest feed of the day then and goes straight back to sleep and doesn't wake up again until between 7-8 in the morning! We're not too strict on it but it's pretty much spot on every day and if things do change, like we go out for the day or something, we just ensure we're somewhere long enough for him to have his big nap like, have him in the pram at the shops, be in the car if we have a long drive or have him in the pram somewhere quiet at whoever's house we are visiting andhe'll nodd off for a good hour or two - If things go really skewed for the day, he just has a longer nap in the afternoon so we are pretty flexed on it but it doesn't seem to matter too much, we're not having any sleep problems that's for sure...

Basically, I have leanred that the rule is to only keep them up for 2 hours at a time, any longer and they become overtired and the more overtired they are the harder it is for them to get to sleep poor bubbas and we are strict with his bedtime routine at night, definitely bath, massage, feed, cuddles and stories and bed - By the end of his feed, during cuddle time he's ready for bed and is super drowsy anyway... Works wonderfully for us!

You girls who are doing this all on so little sleep are my heroes! I have nfi how the hell you are surviving! If Cruz has a bad night and wakes up twice or more (only ever for us to pop the dummy back in then it's straight back to sleep) DH and I feel like we're going to die the next day! I am wishing on every star that your ittle ones let you get some serious rest very soon!! Funny how it seems to be the girls who are the bubbas being unpredictable and not liking the sleep! Ruby, Abbey, Amelia - Little ladies want to party!!

Am also with you all on wanting to lose this baby weight! I have always been a size 6-8... 169cm tall and between 50 - 55kgs always. Never had weight trouble in my life, got pregnant and ate healthily but also gave in to cravings whenever I felt, wasn't very disciplined at all haha I'd have a super healthy dinner and go "You know, I feel like a Magnum... I'll have that Magnum!" and then after that one, "Hmmm this little man wants ANOTHER Magnum! Aaaah better not deprive the poor bubba!" Hahaha aaaaah not so funny when on the day I gave birth I was 94kgs!! Was 86kgs when Cruz was 6 weeks, am now 78 and HATE it! We're moving house in 2 weeks as DH is starting his new career as a Correctional Officer at the Prison and after this move is over it's Hammer time for me and my lard!! SIze 8 here I come! 3 months I am giving myself, I don't cae how hard I have to smash it! DH is an ex Army Physical Training Instructor (He was a BRUTAL PTI Natty, you would have hated him!) and gym bunny, we have a big gym setup in our home, also just got Wii Fit and I have a gym membership with creche for Cruzy (Although it will be sooooo hard to leave him even though I'll be 10 metres or less away!) so no excuses now..

Also on topic - I am not BF'ing anymore, am fully FF, I had the worst supply and my big little man just couldn't get full... AF came back for me at 8 weeks on the dot... AM LOVING DTD AGAIN! Woot woo!!!! Loving being creative and doing it everywhere but the bedroom haha A bit weirded out if Cruz is too close when we're getting freaky - Even if he's sleeping, it just doesn't feel right! Cruzy sleeps in our room in a cradle next to us and we just love it, we know he has to go to his own bedroom sometime soon but it will be tears for Mum & Dad more than bub I think...

Hmmm... Can't remember what else has cropped up in the thread that I should fill in on... Not sure if anyone will even read all of this, a very selfish post being as I feel I have t update to be able to jump back in on the convo after being away so long - Don't even know if anyone will remember me! And this post is all over the place as I am trying to do 10 things at once while Cruz sleeps hahaha - He'll be up in 20 mins!

Hmmm.. So that is me, now I have done that, I can be less of a stranger and less selfish next post and reply to all of you!

Shayna - Am sooooooo jealous you went to see BSB I was also a Nick nut when younger - I truly believed we were meant to be as our birthday's are 2 days apart... And many years, I think I was only 10 or something then hahaha... Ah that's romance when you're ten hey, both being born in the same month hahah

Kymmy - I hope you are doing better now after the D&C! And your Dad, your poor Dad, I really hope things are getting better there too!!

Oooo, half way through persies and little man waking, be back soon xx

    Hello Ladies!

Alicia: I was wondering what happened to you! Great to hear that you and Cruz are doing good! Cruz sounds like he is in a great routine! I wouldn't even have a clue how long/how often Archie feeds/sleeps as every day is soo different still!!! Some days he will feed every two-three hours, some days every three-four hours and some days every 30mins-1 hour!! And sleeping is pretty much the same! haha! So i just go with whatever!! Sometimes i wish he had a routine so i could plan stuff around him but its all good! Cruz sounds like a big boofa too! Archie was 6.7 kgs yesterday (13w 3d) and is very tall for his age (52.5cm @ 6w... havent had him measured since! haha) Its nice having a chubba!
Good to hear from you! I'm glad you'll be popping in more often! xxx

Hello everyone else! I'll just be quick to fill u in on what the Doc said cos i gotta get my butt into gear and cook dinner while Archie is sleeping...
It was definately retained placenta. The bad news is that the Doc recommends that i don't have any future babies at home as i am extreme high risk of the placenta getting stuck again (in the same spot) and of having another PPH. She said it will be worse with each baby i have! She said 850mls was ALOT of blood to lose and i probably should have had a transfusion!! Ubba, How much did you lose? And Billykat?? was it you too? Can't remember! I haven't spoken to my midwife yet but i will send her an email tonight.. i am very sad that i may not be able to have another HB.. It was the best experience of my life! Obviously my safety during birth is extremely important but i can't help but want to sook about it! hahaha! BOOO HOOOOOOO!!
So thats my news. BUMMMMMMERRRRRR. Oh and also my iron is at 25 which is on the low side (should be between 15-200) so i am back on iron tabs. WOOOHOOO constipation!

As for my beautiful, darling papa bear.... He has osteo melitis (sp), infection of the bone. They think this whole thing has started from a fracture in his foot (news to him!) that has not healed and left a sharp protrusion which rubbed on one of his tendons which caused the infection then the Golden Staph got in and WHAMMO ... he could possibly lose his foot. Fingers crossed for my poor daddy. He has a long line to his heart for antibiotics for when he comes home... which will hopefully be sooner rather than later as he is completely OVER being in hospital.

ANYWAY! Enough of my rambling... Hope you all had a great day and sorry for the me me me (oh and Alicia.. haha) post.

    Love you all x x x x

Hey Alicia welcome back!! As if we wouldnt remember who you are, so glad you decided to post! Cruz sounds like he is growing so nicely and I must say I am very jealous of his sleeping patterns. Owell, my time will come

Kym- Hope you are ok lovey xx As long as you can still have bubbas, thats the main thing. My loss was 850mls too I think- I will have to double check, pretty scary though.

Ruby had a check up with the MCHN today. She weighs 6.1kg and is 62.5cm long - my little pudding! The nurse has written out a 'routine' and so far so good, let me know what you think.

    6am- BF
    9/9.30- BF
10am- Bed (put her in sleep clothes ie jumpsuit)
    12/12.30- BF
    1/1.30- Bed (sleep clothes)
    3/3.30- BF
    6.30/7- Bath, book, BF, Bed
    10/10.30- Dream feed

We had kinder duty today so I couldnt really put it into place during the day, but so far so good for the evening. I always used to give her a bath every 2nd day and at what ever time I could fit it in, so I might find it a bit of a struggle getting myself into a routine.....

Im going to head off to bed shortly so I will post persies tomorrow - AFTER I do some of my course, I have to get back into it.

    xx

I think the bleed is meant to be upto 600 that does sound like alot but don't get sad cos you could always go to a birth centre instead so it feels close to a hb

Fingers crossed for your dad hope he heals up and keeps his foot

Hi Alicia - so good to hear from you and so glad Cruz is doing so well, I love his pics on FB. Amelia is pretty well fully FF'd as well, I let her nurse on me first feed but she doesn't really get much and has a full bottle - I express what I can in the day but I'm lucky to get 20/30 mls a day. I'll persevere for a bit longer but I think 6 months and I'll give up if it doesn't improve! Looks like Amelia's boyfriend has lots in common then! As for your weight, my goodness you were tiny! You're so tall, that weight is little for your height, I'm lucky to get to 57/58 and I'm 159cm!!! I'm a size 10 at that size....haven't been an 8 since my early 20's lol. I guess I am older though (37 this year yikes) and my body shape changed when I hit my 30's, moreso now since having bubby! Most of us are feeling crap about our weight, I too want to be back to my old self by June, my birthday. Good luck to us all!!!!

Hi Kymmy - sorry to hear about your news on not being able to have a HB - but like Mon said there's always the birthing centre at King Eddie, my friend just had a baby there and loved it. I too am sorry about your dad, he's had a bad run with that, I hope he doesn't lose his foot, how long before they know for sure? I hope they don't have to, that would be devastating.

Hi Ubbs - the routine looks good! I do the same pretty much, 5 feeds a day but mine are generally 3.5 to 4 hourly except the second last one I do after 2.5/3 hours otherwise I'm up too late for the final feed. Amelia wakes at a different time most days but if it starts at 6.00 am I usually can do the 4 hourly for the whole lot and finish by 10.00 pm but like today she didn't wake up until 8.00 am so I did 8.00 am, 11.30 am (I had to be somewhere at 12.00), 3.30 pm....then did a smaller feed at 6.00 pm which is enough to tide her over and because it's only been 2.5 hours she doesn't want as much. Then she goes straight to sleep as it's officially night time and she'll have her last fed at 9.30/10.00 pm and straight to bed, hopefully for the rest of the night! Let me know how it goes, I think you'll find it will greatly help you, it may seem difficult in the beginning but stick to it because it won't take her long and it will be so much better for you. This is why I stuck to it in the beginning because I knew it would be worth it later. I couldn't function if Amelia wasn't in a general routine, it's much easier for planning things and going out etc. Good luck mate, I'm excited for you

Hi Mon - poor you, hayfever sux, hope you're feeling better soon lovely. I will be sending the card for Mikayla to you tomorrow, meant to do it the last 2 days but haven't managed to get to the PO, have to go tomorrow for definite as have other things to post too!

AFM - Well, I started the Wii Fit Plus today, it told me it had been 411 days since I was last on and then proceeded to say "oh dear, you've gained weight" - 5.9 kgs more than 411 days ago lol...........then put me in the overweight category for BMI - I did have a BMI of 22, now it's 25! I didn't get a full workout in this morning however because Amelia didn't want to sleep, I think that had something to do with the 10 hours she'd just sleep that night!
