    Hi Natty / Hi Telly!

Natty - hmmmm how rude of them to snatch it away, this wonder week is a long obviously if you're still going through it. How much does that suck, I'm just at the beginning!

Telly - I don't think it's a BF'ing issue, Amelia is now fully formula fed and getting more and more restless at night - last night she grizzled (with eyes closed) every hour from midnight to 4.00 am!! She normally sleeps through without a peep. I think it's the wonder week, have you got The Wonder Weeks book? The one around 19 weeks (give or take a week or two) is apparently the biggest in the first 12 months. I think we just have to ride it out and vent to each other in the process. At least we're all going through it at the same time. for us all. xx Stick with the BF'ing if you can or you'll end up like me with nothing left to give and it is sad....it's not that I feel guilty giving her formula as I know she's healthy but I feel like a failure and sad that I can't provide her with nature's own and I so miss that bond and watching her as she latches on and the sounds she used to make when she was getting nearer and nearer. Ho hum.

I think you guys who are bfing are heroes - really I do. 3 children and I still can't get it right Please don't think that Eden is sleeping through with formula, she was sleeping long stints when she was bfed as well - I think its a child thing - she is certainly my only child to sleep through this early!!! Aricyn was still getting fed at 10pm and 4am when he was over 6 months old - I remember cos I had the conversation with my friend about trying to drop the 4am feed at his naming ceremony and that was when he was 6 months old. Kelti was feeding at 10pm and 3am for ages as well - as well as every 2 hours during the day - and she was a fully formula fed bub from birth. I truly think its a child thing - rather than a "What is that child eating" thing.

But I think you guys rock - I wish I had more guts and determination and could have continued and perservered with it. I'll always regret it cos there is no more chances for me.

    New thread already!

I got my amber necklace in the mail today - dunno what DH is gonna say when he notices it.

Mr I's had a red bum in the arvo last few days - dunno wether its teething or his nappies.

We are the poster family for night wakings - I think Mr I had slept for 6hrs straight once, but 'cause I have him in bed with me I get enough sleep (if I go to bed early enough 'cause one boy or the other wakes before 6 every morning)

DS1 is putting his baby to sleep - I just got Mr I asleep again after someone banged toys outside his room & woke him up. I went into DS1's room & he asked me to find Ferris' dummy. He just came in to tell me 'Ferris is a toy baby, he's not a real baby' glad we got that cleared up.

Mel - I don't deserve any kudos for bf as we haven't had any probs except a blocked duct a week ago.

Hi all you tired mums!!! I am definitely one of you too!!!!

Telly – Definitely FF is not helping with Abbey’s sleep….she’s a nightmare at the moment but I’ll get to that later…..so sweet that Theo is touching you like that….a few times Abbey did that to me when I was still BF and your heart just swells doesn’t it?? I really miss that about BF…I’m the same with the giving in thing….every night I say to DH ‘that’s it, tonight’s the night, she’s not coming out of that cot….and every night she ends up on the lounge with me…I’m just so tired I can hardly stand some nights so I cave constantly….obviously cant stick to my guns on much in my life….: (

When I was BF I was doing millions of feeds a day too….I was the same and often thought that she wasn’t getting a big enough feed at the end of the night so she could sleep through….who knows, who knows….

Ali & Mel – These Amber necklaces sound interesting….I would have to sneak one on Abbey too I think as DH would go nuts about how much they cost…..it’s funny the things ‘people give to you’…..iykwim….he he he!

Kymmy – Cant remember if I congratulated you for Archies bloods coming back normal – great great great news for the big fella!!!

Snowy – We are always on JD’s case when Abbey’s asleep to be quiet…the poor fella cant cop a break….after living with him the last 4.5 months Abbey should be able to sleep through anything he’s that noisy!!!

Natty - Go the BFing!! Dont worry about anyone else - you are doing the best thing for V!

AFM – Sleep is something of the past in this house too…..gawd…..If I get any more than 1.5 hours straight I’m lucky…..

She’s taken a dummy the last couple of nights but that’s not all of the time…I try to let her whinge but I cant let her go completely off her nut cause that will wake JD up then I’ll have 2 to deal with at whatever hour so I have to get to her as quick as I can drag myself out of bed….

I was that tired the other night I was giving her a bottle on the lounge and I fell asleep and when I woke up an hour later she had moved her head away from the bottle and I was feeding the lounge…BAHAHAHAHAA!!! Hilarious….it was soaked cause the pressure was on the teat so the milk just kept seeping out!! Now, that’s bad isn’t it!!!

Again I was on the lounge this morning with me up one end and Abbey up the other and out comes JD at 5:10am….I could have cried….way way too early to cope with this….I put his DVD on and told him to be quiet but she was still up at 5:40 so I got DH up at about 6:30 and went back to bed for about 45 mins until he had to get ready for work….before that she was up from 11:30pm onwards every hour or so!!! I was going to be in all sorts of a mood if I didnt get at least some sleep...

Feeding though seems to be going better routine wise….about 5 or 6 feeds a day but she never drinks it all at once….still cat napping during the day but I can handle that if she’s happy while she’s up and lets me get things done….Jolly Jumper is working well and so is the Jungle Gym thing that she lies under that lights up and sings to her….gets pretty sick of the bouncer chair pretty quick as she knows that she’ll be stuck in it for a long time so that’s not so good. Rolling over all the time though and gets the cranks so forever rolling her back!!! Also grabbing onto EVERYTHING that is in front of her...I was looking at my Ipod this afternoon and she was all over it! I couldnt type a thing!

Tried her on some Farex yesterday and today and she wasn’t too bad with it….ate a fair amount tonight but she’s whinging already and only been asleep for about an hour so I think it will be a long night again…

Raving on again aren’t I!!! I need to get on here more often so my posts are shorter…

Anyway ladies….hope at least some of us get a decent sleep tonight!!

    Hey ladies!

Jumping on the "Where did my all night sleeping baby go?!" Bandwagon here! Cruz has been waking a few times in between 4 and 6am for a couple of weeks now - He's not hungry, that's definitely not it and he's formula fed AND he DOES have an Amber Teething Necklace from Amberbebe! We got that a couple of months ago in anticipation - Well worth the investment so far, I think I can notice a difference when he hasn't had in on for a couple of days - Anything's worth a try!

I think it must just be an age thing - Google the 4 month sleep regression - It's a phenomenon! Fingers crossed it'll be over soon and it's sweet dreams for all of us!

Had his needles last Saturday, he cried for 2 minutes, I cried for 20 haha - Has had 2 mustardy poos like Amelia too Alison - Def the rotavirus, happened to us last time as well and I wasn't bf'ing then so pretty sure that's it!

Got him weighed again at needles - 7.95kgs - Theo baby here we come! Hahaha

Loving his Farex, we're going slowly, he has been having it every 2nd day as I think it clogs him up a little, I do make it pretty sloppy though - Sloppy enough that it stays together but runny enough that it would come out of the bowl if that makes sense?? I do 1 heaped teaspoon of Farex to 5 teaspoons of formula... Anyway, he LOVES it, knew exactly what he was doing with it and eats off the spoon like a champ - So damn cute! Starting yesterday we're doing Farex every day for the next week and a bit and next weekend we'll give him a tiny bit of pumpkin to try...

Moving house on Sunday and Internet will take up to 10 working days to be connected - What will I do without my lifeline!!

YAAAAAAAAAY FOR ARCHIE'S BLOODS!! I am so happy! That little man is just waaaay too gorgeous to be sick! How is your Dad going now Kymmy??

Natty I think it was me who said about putting them to bed every 2 hours, but I have found now he is getting older it's about every 2.5 hours to get him to have a proper nap - We are now doing 2 x 2 hour naps a day instead of the old routine and he is happy...

What tme do you ladies all do your last feeds for the night? We put Cruz to bed at 6:30 - 7pm but wake him at 10pm for his "BIG" feed of between 210 - 240mls... Sounds like everyone else is doing an earlier feed and letting them sleep - Am thinking of trying this but I find that if I try to squish Cruz's feeds too close toegtehr he rejects them! Please tell me how you space them out??

Oh and Formula Feeders, how much is your little one taking a day?

    Cruz's are - 7am - 180ml, 11am - 180ml, 2:30pm - 180ml, 4pm - 60ml of water, 6pm - 150ml, 10pm - 210-240ml...

Sometimes it's hard to get him to down all of that, other days he guzzles it, for a while he went off it but I discovered that I needed to go up a teat size to the medium flow, so we did - That was only 2 weeks ago and he fed like a champ after that but now is back to mucking around with it and spitting it out as if he's bored, wondering if it's time to go up to fast flow teats ALREADY?!

Argh, am being called to go help with more packing - I hate packing! But I get to buy new furniture at the new place as our current stuff doesn't fit right Woot woo!!

Will be back soon - Much love to you ALL and the precious littlies!! xx

Hi Kymmy - did you get Archie's blood results back? I must have missed a post, grrrr. Great news if all is well, tough little cookie monster. xx

Hi Alicia - hows my daughter's future mother in law? hee hee Sounds like Cruz is going to be one big strong protective boyfriend for Amelia lol. You're right on the 4 month thing, I've been reading my Wonder Weeks book and a few things on the net today as well, also met with the mums group girls today and everyone has the same thing going on! Looks like we'll have to put up with this for a bit and ride out the wave. Alicia Amelia is still on 5 feeds a day, I tried to drop it to 4 last week and it created bedlam, she started waking in the night - not for a feed but at the time I thought it stuffed up her sleeping pattern of 10 hours without waking.....I am now thinking after reverting back that it's more this wonder week rather than the feed so maybe it won't make a difference after all. Not sure what to do now. At the moment she has her last feed at 9.30/10.00 pm - same as you, Amelia has a 5.30/6.00 pm feed and goes to sleep and most of the time we have to wake her for her final feed which is more like a "dream feed". She is also having 180 mls at each feed, yesterday she wasn't even finishing her bottles, another growth spurt sign but today she has. Sounds like Cruz and Amelia pretty much have the same routine. I worked out the mls by doing that calculation for her weight - she is not as big as Cruz so maybe he needs more?? Although it is only a guide, every bub is different I guess! He might just be conservative with his food and not be a piggy like Missy Moo obviously is ha ha! Have you tried that calculation? I googled it on the net and DH worked it out for me, me and maths with baby brain don't mix! If I drop her to 4 feeds she'd be on 200 mls a feed. Might try that again next week and see how we go. So hard to tell with her nights being so up and down anyway at the moment. I'm hanging to get my routine back on track, I'm so not used to getting up at night lol! I was told if you want to drop that late feed to gradually bring it forward 15 minutes, then 30 minutes and eventually drop it - it would mean they might not take as much but that's ok....either that or give them a little less at the second last feed and a normal amount at the last. That's what I was trying last week so will do it that way again but instead of just dropping the last feed cold turkey I'll pull it back gradually. I've rambled on sorry but hopefully I've helped answer your question.

Anyway girls I'm off to our holiday house down south tomorrow for Easter with the fams, back on Monday but I won't be logging on while away so I'll be MIA for a few days. Will miss talking to you all heaps....I'm nervous about Amelia too as she's already out of whack so taking her down there could be even worse as she'll have to sleep in the portacot! At least she'll be in my room so I won't have far to do the dummy thing! Have a fabulous Easter girls, take care, eat lots of choccy and enjoy! Speak to you all Monday. xx
