Oh i forgot to ask.....
Is anyone doing BLS? I have started offering some foods and he generally isn't interested but i let him play with some of my dinner tonight (spag bol, didn't actually get any in his mouth but LOVED playing with it!) and have let him suck on some of my fruit and want to know how others have gone starting out and what you are offering??

Kymmy - ATM Mr I is sitting in the highchair with a slice of pear in each hand (and alot on his bib, and some down the side of the highchair). I had him on my lap for previous breakfasts 'cuase he couldn't reach the tray in the highchair, but I put a book (New pregnancy & childbirth, not gonna need that again) under the cushion and he can grab the food now. He's had toast crust, carrot, broccoli, lamb cutlet (I cut most of the meat off & gave him the bone to use as a handle), bannana. I know some is going in ('cause some is commng out the other end). My problem is he's asleep most of the time when we have dinner so he's really only getting b'fast consistently. There's a BLS thread that I'm gonna subscribe to for ideas.
Thanks Snowy.. do you cook the pear a little bit? I let Archie 'play' with some of my toast this morning, he didn't even try to put it in his mouth.. I don't think he is quite ready yet.
Hi Kymmy, We are not doing BLS but just this morning V had vegemite on toast cut into fingers and she was shoving it in lol Ill put a pic on fb.

V is going for her needles today and also to sort out her bung eye she has had since birth, sticky eye that keeps coming back....gross.

hey natty, last night i just did boobie to sleep. dh wasn't home, and you know what my dd is like for sleep... so i just went by the easy method.
But this morning's nap took about 5 mins worth of patting and he was off for 40min. this afternoon he started to fall asleep on the boob, so i quickly popped him into the cot and he grizzled a little, so i patted his bum (about 30 seconds), and so far he's been sleeping for 1hr 35min... this is sooo not like him! Its making me wonder how tired he must be in general!! but kept waking up wondering where on earth his boob had disappeared to, haha! Yep, its a form of cc. ... Its actually what they teach at the parenting classes (with the MCHN) that bec was talking about earlier this year. they taught it to me when DD was little, but i never adopted it cause like i mentioned inan earlier post, im lazy and boob is easy. haha. (however now im here... i can't get over how easy this whole bum patting is!) I know what you mean tho.. so far today i've spring cleaned DDs room, swept, mopped, vacummed, done 4 loads of washing, made beds and cleaned the chicken cage.... WTF?!?! I've NEVER had time like this!! Also my boob at 11am had enough milk for me to warrant a quick express (got 50 ml!!! which is huge for me!!!) My boobs must be sighing in relief! haha!
mon how did you go with your twilight addiction?? Its hard when the books all of a sudden end.. when your reading them you become part of the whole story hey! I remember reading them, getting that far into it, that when i'd stop and look up, i was literally SHOCKED that it wasn't rainging and overcast! hahahah!!!! Yes, i too am an addict! I also remember DH showing me this really fancy car on the highway when i was mid way through eclipse, the car was like.. worth 500k or soemthing ridiculous, so i was instantly trying to see the owner.. because SURELY only a vampire could be THAT rich!!?? hahahahaha!! yes!! the obsession becomes your life!
Kymmy, as for the BLS i think i'm a bit of both. As i was with DD too. Did a bit of puree and a fair bit of solids finger foods. I remember my inlaws expressing their disgust at me for always giving DD pieces of apple to suck on when she was 5.5 months old. Cause 'she will choke". Pffft, fark you. lol. oh i love my inlaws. hahaha
madame- thats awesome that your cafe did a great mothers day trade!! I so want to life close by, so i can enjoy your little cafe (and your company ;) ) Hope your DH atleast wished you a happy mothers day, sometimes men don't think. xx

OMG you ladies are legends... I've been copying you both (Nat & Telly).... and.... it's working............. I decided i better hurry up and get into some kind of routine before the new baby (OMG!) arrives, so i've been trying in all areas and its working!!!! WOOHOOO!
Oh and with BLS, i gave Archie some capsicum and cucumber fingers tonight, was expecting him just to have a play like other times, but he actually got it into his mouth everytime he tried and actually ate some of the cucumber!! I felt so proud! hahaha! It's so awesome, this motherhood thing, i'm so darn happy!

I haven't even seen twilight yet! I'll have to watch in one of these days cos everyne goes on about it!! I am not a big movie person (i get bored really easy) so i dunno if it will be up my ally, we'll see!
Natty the pics of V (with the toast) are sooooo cute! She is sooo adorable!! Actually, i've decided that ALL our babies are adorable! They really are!! You know how sometimes you see a baby and pretend it's cute, but really it looks like an alien from outer space!? Well, we don't have that problem! hahaha! My sister did though, i went to visit her and her new baby in hossy, and ran excitedly up to the bassinette and was shocked to see the UGLIEST baby i had EVER seen! My sister said "I know, she's pretty ugly hey?!" It was so funny! She is stunning now (as a 10 year old) but the poor thing was all squished and lopsided and had a massive nose and ears and was bright red.... Oh how mean am i!? hahaha...
Anyway, best be off... want to have a look at the BLS forums..
Oh, i had takeaway Cantonese for dinner and it was SO FLAMIN YUMMY! I sense a bit of a food obsession coming on again......

Hi Kymmy - yum Cantonese, sounds delish....probably out of the question for my 12 week challenge though lol. Anyway, that kind of food (chinese/cantonese) is usually riddled with wheat so can't eat it, I miss a good fried honey chicken and sweet and sour pork, ho hum. How are you feeling, any morning sickness yet? Would be great if you skipped it this time around, will give me hope for next time! :rolleyes:
Hi Natty - I've been also trying to self settle this week and so far I'm getting there! I am the opposite to you, I find it easier as the day goes on, maybe she gets more tired and relaxed by then - night time is the easiest, first morning nap the hardest. I can't just put her down and walk away, I end up going back and forth for anywhere up to 45 minutes because she keeps rolling onto her tummy etc. So, yesterday I decided to try just putting her straight on her tummy and then just patting her bum and saying shhhh.....it was taking about 10 minutes but after a while she gave up on lifting up her head and just started to close her eyes so I just walked out then and it worked! Hopefully today it will be the same and not just a fluke yesterday. But like you, if it doesn't then I will just give her a cuddle like always and like you said she will go to sleep quicker than usual anyway with a cuddle, more like when she was little.

AFM - Off to swimming this morning, god I hate putting her head under water, I hope she doesn't cry, she didn't last week so fingers crossed she's ok, I feel so bad but I know it's teaching her water survival etc so just have to remind myself. The teacher said their eosophagus (sp?) closes over naturally so they don't swallow much if any water even if they do forgot to close their mouth. Apparently they lose the natural reflex to hold their breath at 7 months hence why I was keen to do it now. I hated swimming lessons when I was younger and ended up a crap swimmer so I don't want her to be like me, I used to be petrified of school swimming!
Oh and a quick question, should I be concerned that Amelia can only roll from back to tummy and not tummy to back? She's been rolling this way since she was 4 months old but hasn't even attempted to roll the other way yet!

Ali - i wouldn't be too concerned about millie, im a big believer in kids do things at their own pace. But if you're honestly concerned, ask your mchn, im sure she'll put your mind at ease! TBH i think you're lucky, haha! I was sitting on the lounge room floor today eating a sandwitch and my little caterpillar humped over and started helping himself :rolleyes: Then when i had gotten up to put my mess away, i caught him in the dining area playing with the telephone cord :o far out! Driving me nuts!

Have been pretty crap at exercise but am eating well so hopefully a loss in weight this week but Im not expecting much...
V is so great, we are going heaps of places together and with some padding she can sit in the trolley at the shop so she can see everything. Im doing finger foods for brekky then veggie and meat for lunch and dinner alternating with fruit although she is not a fan of apple or fruit in the can. I tried her on a banana custard after tea tonight and she loved it, of course because it custard...hmmmm...

Talking of weight I snuck a weigh in this morning and I'm down 1kg again, honestly talk about fluctuate!!!! What worries me is I'm going away to the holiday house with friends and their bub this weekend so I'm going to have to try and be good, normally it's cheese and bikkies and god knows what else lol!
I could do with some opinions........we have the option of (when the inlaws move next door gulp) to buy the house they're in at the moment for whatever we sell ours for....interesting as they're on 3 acres about 10 minutes away so is definitely worth more for the land alone. Only thing is it's "their" house and I feel it always will be. DH is going to spend $150,000 doing it up because it's 80's and ugly but I still have a dilemma. DH wants to live in it for the land, he thinks it will be great for kids to have room to run around, we're on a very small block (hence the 2 storey house) and have no room for a swing set or the like. If I can get past the fact I hate the house (DH promises it will look brand new when he's finished with it) and his parents remember it will be ours I might not feel so negative about the whole thing. I will miss being so close to the ocean though, and across from a lovely park - but I guess it's only 10 minutes away in the car. Half of me wants to, the other half doesn't. It just seems so hard to imagine the house looking nice - we built the one we're in now so it's all new and nice.....I guess I'll have to see how it looks when it's finished. Sounds snobby I know but this house is dark and old and ugly, I just don't get a nice vibe the way it is. DH has promised shiny floorboards which I really wanted here and wasn't allowed (lol) and even possibly a pool - it's already got a spa! I probably sound stupid even contemplating knocking the opportunity down, DH reckons we'll never get the chance to buy 3 acres of land for the price we'll buy it for and I do agree with that and the fact it would be nice to have some open space for kids to run around in. I told him he'd have to build me a super dooper cubby house for Amelia. hee hee
Also, is anyone thinking about going back to work? I really don't want to but I will have to, at least to resign, or I have to return my maternity pay.....haven't decided yet. I just don't have any ambition to go back but who knows how I'll feel in another 5 months......I'm freaking out that I'm halfway through my leave already! I just love being a SAHM so much - although I miss the nice paypacket....just seems there's more to life at the mo.

Do it Ali... Honestly, we live on 6 acres and it is THE BEST kind of lifestyle for kids. Animals, exploring, playing outside, motorbikes, bike riding etc... Brit gets soo bored when we stay at friends places in the suburbs! When we are home I hardly ever see her cos she is such an outdoorsy kid. So much more to do outside rather than in. And don't worry about the house, you can change all that. I used to rent this horrid old, crappy 2 bedroom cottage that was falling apart but we loved living there cos it was in the middle of 80 acres. We spent more time outside than in!!

I grew up on one of my aunty's cattle stations, she has something like.. crap loads of land, and absolutely LLOOOOVVEED IT!!!
Sound pretty ... up myself, lol, but IMO all of my family have that beautiful 'country' kind of personality.. so easy going, laid back... and i think the only reason is because we all grew up out west. If we could afford it, i totally would not be living in the city.
Exactly what kymmy said too.. motorbikes, horses, fishing in the dam!, dogs, chooks, geese, lots of cattle... when you're a kid.. nothing beats that!
FWIW, my house was a total dive when we moved in.. i mean TOTAL DIVE! haha, but we've made it our own. feels like home ;) (new kitchen, new floors, new laundry, new bathroom, gardens.. its taken ages, but rome wasn't built in a day). and besides, you dh is a builder.!!! hell yes your house is gonna be kick arse no matter where you live! hahaha
lol, sorry, im a bit of an extreme one! but i just thinking that type of 'country' living (Even if it is only on 3 acres), is the best type of environment for children to grow up

I'm really lucky that my DHs mother was a working mum. He grew up in childcare centres, then when he was at school he would always walk home by himself to an empty house - because of this, he is such a huge believer in keeping me at home with the kiddies as long as we can afford it.
Some weeks can be really tight, but we always get through. If i ever had to go back.. it would probably be waitressing during week nights, or night packing?? something like that.
thats just me tho..
i totally respect women who do go back.. i honestly take my hat off to them

OMG i'm going insane! Archie DOES NOT SLEEP during the day! He'll GO to sleep (using Natty's patting bum method!) but will wake up after 15mins or so! It is doing my head in!! :wall:
I don't know what to do.... I have that no-cry sleep solution book but have only read a bitof it and havent had time to read the rest, so i guess that is step one. I just feel like he is in absolutely NO routine and i really want to get him into SOME kind of routine before this baby comes (OK so i've got like 7.5 months but can you tell i'm panicking that it won't happen before then!!!??). Brit was a pretty bad sleeper aswell. I'm sure its got to do with the co-sleeping, as he generally will sleep if i am laying next to him but i can't do that all the time, as much as i'd love to.

Natty: Glad to hear V is doing so well! She is such a happy, smiley looking baby! Love her! Archie has been really experimenting with food too.. Tonight he had some roasted potato fingers, a finger of red capsicum and some tomato. Earlier today he tried a tiny bit of banana and a little bit of natural yoghurt (which he loved.... BARF!). It is so exciting, this new chapter in their lives, but so damn messy!
Mon: FIVE years!? Wow! Thats great for such a young couple. Hmmmmm pressie, um.... i dunno... i am so crap at choosing pressies, love giving them but hate choosing them!!

I was going through all our old threads last night!!! It was soooo good to read! Like an old diary! I got all emotional!! Really felt pregnant last night cos my emotions were running wild.... NOT looking forward to being a psychopath again.... :o hahahaha
I went to the Dr today for all my blood tests and whatnot... tried to make me feel guilty about having another homebirth..."Oh but does your midwife know about the fractured clavicle????"
Like it wouldn't have happened if i was in hospital.... same baby coming out of the same hoohaa... GRRRR!
Oh, call me stupid, but i can't remember if teething causes nappy rash or whether it will be the food he is trying (although, he hardly actually gets anything down his throat yet!!)... his poor man bits are so red they are almost blistery :( I am using my faithful nappy cream but it doesn't seem to be helping so i have tried some zinc and castor oil cream tonight so i'll see how that goes.
Well i best be off to bed.... Might read the rest of the sleep book..... only have 7.5 months left....
