So I have Harper who was born 4th nov, after 1.5 hrs of labour. So far everything is going really well, no complaints so far.

This is only a quick one as its getting late and I'm thinking I should really get to bed.

Hi everyone,

She's finally down. Been up for 4 hours trying to prove to mummy and daddy that she's a big girl and doesn't need to sleep no matter how much she'a yawning!!!! I'm glad to see everyone else is having the same issues and their little darlings look so settled until they're in the bassinet or cot. Drives me bonkers when I think she's just asleep and then she's crying again. I'm trying to put her down just before she 's fully asleep so she learns to settle a bit herself and that was working fine last week

lou I think arching the back can be a sign of tiredness as well so it might not be a sore belly...... Anyone else know this for sure??? I'm still pretty new to all this like many of us are!!

Jen, our little miss loves her change table too. If she has her nappy off she's happy as. Unfortunately we're using cloth nappies on top of the mat and we're going through 6 -7 a day because she's as bad as a boy when the nappy comes off and pees everywhere. At least it doesn't fountain all over me I guess. Although hubby copped a poo off the change table down his leg last night. He thinks I now owe him lots of changes. Must have forgotten I was the one on the ground scrubbing it out of the carpet at the time . She's pretty talented......

Gotta go. I've got parents and in laws coming for lunch (and had my last clean shirt on which Alyssa has chucked up all over - lovely!!). Should really be putting some of the junk away in the lounge room!!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and congraulations to everyone on their wonderful bundles of joy, and to subscribe to this thread even tho' I don't "qualify" to join you (want to keep up to date with how "my girls" from the belly buddies thread are doing).

Ava Juliet was due Nov 3, but born via planned C-Sec on Oct 19, so I've been been bumped into the October thread. Life is good. Generally she's a pretty happy baby, although for 3 days last week she decided that 4-6pm would be witching hour, during which she would cluster feed, be gassy, and generally cranky and require lots of cuddles (she's a snuggler). I don't mind the upsetness generally - I'm pretty calm and can work with her through the rough times - but it's terrible timing as I'm generally exhausted by then, have the evening routine/dinner to get together/think about, and DH isn't quite home yet. But the last few days she's settled down, so we'll see what this week brings.

Well, won't bug you too much, but as I said, want to keep up with my belly buddies.

Oh - and need to work out how to fix my ticker, as the link to the new one doesn't display the image when I try

I'm still pretty new to this stuff also but yes I believe that is right -

• Irritability
• Glassy eyes and looking away
• Finger-splaying or saluting
• Squirming appearing to sit on air
• Back and neck arching
• Frantic jerky movements
• Tongue thrusting
• Grimacing frowning and grunting
• Yawning sneezing hiccups
• Paleness mottling flushing and bluish colour around the mouth
• Changes in vital signs
• Gagging or spitting-up

AFM - Mary still has not adjusted to outside life quite yet, still having awful trouble at night time especially for DW - I seem to have this frustrating ability once I'm asleep to stay asleep no matter what happens which I know utterly annoys (rightly so) DW. We traveled into the city to register DD birth & did the medicare thing last week so she is all organised. Just need to get child care arranged and we are done (should have orangised that before she was born ) .

PBR you sound like my husband. He can sleep through her crying while I'm feeding/burping her in bed next to him but I closed the window the other night and he was up in no time ready to fight off the robbers Something tells me he's just trying to get out of the night time nappy changes.......

How's everyone else going?? Little miss is much more settled this week and getting better each day. T?hink I'm just learning more and how to deal with her. Now if we could just fix the 2 lots of witching hour from about 8 - 10 in the morning and 6 - 9 at night it would be perfect....... Maybe another couple of weeks.

It's going to be busy in here..seems like 1-15th November was a popular time to have a baby. I will try and keep up with all the personals..see how I go. I am sure as the weeks roll on we will hopefully get know each other by first name.

James: You sound like my DH (Bernie). He wakes up in the morning and asks me how my night was

Emma: Wow a 40hr labour, how exhausted you must have been by the end of it! Love a talented pooher..they make life interesting. Tess had a poo in the bath last night..needless to say it was a speedy exit

A question for Melthekiwimum: Tess's belly cord bit came off the other night. My DH works with a New Zealander and she said they eat it! Have you heard that before?

Hi to everyone else..I am sure we will get to know each other very well over the next coming weeks, months and for however long we keep posting. It's nice to see familiar names from Babies due thread.

AFM: Well, Tess came shooting down the birth canal at 20.55 Sunday 15th Nomvember. I was induced with my waters being broken at 4:30-5pm and labour started straight away so it was very quick..glad I got the epidural in nice and quick. I am sure the OB and MW thought it was going to be well past midnight before I gave birth but little Miss had other ideas I only had 20mins of pushing and thanks to my OB she came out on her own with no internvention using forceps or suction (first time for me). I ended up with a small 3rd degree tear as there was no time for the episiotomy. It's healing well and I had some physio treatment in hospital on the area. I was grateful of my 5day stay in hospital (I had a private room) as I could keep off my bottom for most of the time
Tess is settling well..doing about 3-4hr stretches and sometimes longer. She appears to have her brother's easy going temperament so far, let's hope it continues. She was born with a sticky eye so I have had her to the GP already, just need to keep it clean and try breast milk in it for a while. Her belly cord bit came off last night thank goodness as it was starting to smell a bit rancid.
My DH goes back to work tomorrow, I still need to try and take it easy as things are still a little tender. I am finding the bleeding comes and goes depending on how much I do..anyone finding this? I am finding the night time feeds ok..I am actually getting more sleep now than when I was pregnant as I sleep soundly inbetween Tess waking up. We are currently putting all our CD's on our Itunes on the PC something that requires no exertion for me!
My two boys are very smitten with Tess as we all are. My youngest Ben has finally managed to start referring to her as Tess instead of sister..he was struggling to remember her name. My DH is amazed at the sea of pink that has come into the house after having two boys!

Quiet in here

I hope that means everyone is travelling along well and just too busy enjoying lots of kisses and cuddles with their little ones

All is still going well here. Tess has lost some of the puffiness she had as a brand new born, still has those cheeks though
She is a very easy going baby and so far is treating us all very well. She is starting to smile and really looks at you when you put her close to your face. Her eye is getting better, I actually managed to squeeze some breast milk in today direct from the feed as she stopped and the milk kept going so I took advantage and got a direct hit! Hopefully that will help.
I am really back into the swing of things, we have just put up our Christmas tree with my boys helping to decorate. As of Monday my DH (Bernie) is back into the full work routine so I will be doing school drop off and pick up and all the other things that I would normally do. He will be home very late as he has a work do on so I will be travelling solo for the first time doing dinner, bath and bed for 6yr old, 3yr old and newborn, phew! We have been doing some major re-arranging to make room for Miss Tess's wardrobe! I have a very generous sister inlaw who has given me clothes for Tess for then next 3yrs!! All UK designer stuff (she is Irish and get's most of things from Ireland and the US).

Hope to hear how everyone else is doing soon..
