just adding on the contraception... I have had the implanon before and am not a fan of it. It makes me fat and moody. As do most regular pills! I have only just stopped bleeding but dont think I am ready to have sex yet.... just a question... who is doing it and how long after bub was born and also if c-sec or vaginal birth? I remember with Rebecca we tried at 3 weeks but it was weird so waited til 6 weeks and with Olivia as she was my first we just waited til 6 weeks....
Yeah... Im not up for it at all. I am too tired and Im a little afraid! I had a VB with just grazes but the walls of my vagina are looking a little pro lapsed so it makes it all a bit uncomfy. I need to do loads of pelvic floor exercises to strengthen it up!!!! I also have a bit of an anal fissure which I had with dd2... painful going to the loo and blood, so I just have to increase my fibre and drink loads of water. Pain Pain!
We attempted at 4 weeks post CS, and it wasn't particularly romantic but achievable, with my VB we attempted 6 weeks, but it was too painful, I had two tears and an episiotomy, and we found out at 10 weeks that one of the stiches hadn't dissolved and was over grown with tissue and nasty and had to be cut out out and because my platelets were still low, I kept bleeding so it had to be restitched
We saw her Paed - and boy do we love him , I went through the symptoms, when they started and how they have developed and changed. He said he wanted her on Losec straight away, he didn't want to stuff around with anything else at this stage and wants to know if it is working or not, and if not he wants to see us again without delay, because it can quickly result in poor weight gain and feeding aversions, and because it came on relatively quickly and the severity increased quickly he felt we didn't have time to play around.
He did her other checks and we are both completely happy with how she is going
Weight was 3740grams, up 1020 grams from birth and it is ALL my Boobies, and I have been off Motilium for three weeks!!!!!
HC 37cm, up from 34cm at birth
He didn't do length because it is so inaccurate and is more than happy if the weight and HC are going along a curve then to leave it at that.
Tomorrow she has the scan for Hip Dysplacia, but we wont get the offical results for two weeks, there are different grades, some requiring just follow up U/S, other requring double nappying to help pull the hips in and support them in their sockets and beyond that there are harnesses to wear 24/7 for weeks/months. We'll just wait and see what the scan says before we got too far ahead of ourselves worry about what ifs
Must run and get some things done before the girls awake
Beema, Amy is due for her hip u/s and review in December. Olivia was in a Pavlik Harness from 5 weeks to 8 months. Rebecca was borderline so we just had to have several scans and xrays.... so it just follows suit that Amy has it done. I had it when I was born. All my girls have had tallipes too I have a squishy tummy!
Oh for anyone who has a girl I have a bunch of pink jump suits... brand snug as a bug... they are from the warehouse... my mums partner got them for cheap but I have heaps of them. They are the same style as the bonds wondersuits. Sizes 000x2, 0x2 and size 1x 2... there are 2 in each packet. If anyone wants them just let me know and I am happy to send them out....
Sassy - He has been feeding 4 hrly and I have been expressing 3 1/2 hrly to try and get supply up. There is a longer gap overnight though up to 6hrs as DH does one of the night feeds so I only express if my bbs wake me up or if I am feeding I express either before or after the feed. This is what the midwives said to do at the hosp as sleep deprivation can obviously have an effect.
Retro & Mini - Have not seen the cookies, not really my thing though. I am sure they taste nice! I took Fenugreek with DD and still have some left but one of the midwives told me not to take them so she scared me off. I am not sure if they made a difference with DD maybe the possibly got me through an extra month but nothing noticeable. I have been trying to drink as much water as possible, eat healthily and sleep as much as possible but supply is still up and down
So firstly our appt with the MCHC went well. Campbell has put on 155g in 10 days so at 3 weeks he weighs 2885g. He has put on 1.5cm in length since birth and is now 50cm, head is 34.9cm. He is taking 90mls per feed of EBM which is 18mls more than what he supposedly needs for his weight so they are happy with his progress. I do have to go back for an extra appt this week so she can see how I am going with EBM supply.
The appy with the GP wasn't as positive, it was really more confusing than anything! The MCHN suggested Motilium to help EBM supply but GP had never heard of it being used for that and was a bit tentative about giving a script for it. He ended up getting on the internet and saw that the ABA had it on their website but he was still not sold on the idea. He ended up writing the script, making the dosage a lot smaller than what it said on the internet and making me promise to speak to my Ob about its use before getting the script filled.
So I rang my Ob and he was not really a promoter of using drugs to improve flow, he didn't think it really helped and that the old fashioned ways of eat, drink and sleep were the best to improve supply. So now I am a cross road, I have had the script filled but am not sure if I should try taking them or not. At a minimum I want to try and get to 12 weeks of feeding the little man EBM but at the rate I am going, I am really concerned that I am not going to make it that far. Any opinions? Do I try the Fenugreek first and see if that helps and risk supply dropping off, do I give the drugs a go or do I do nothing and hope that supply will miraculously increase by itself? Too much to think about really. It is stressing me out
As for contraception, we will most likely wait until after the 6 week appt before trying to DTD. In between finding the time, being too tired and worrying about it hurting then it will probably take that long to get around to it anyway! After having a manual placenta extraction, tearing and haemorrhoids, down below is still tender! Last time I used the mini pill but kept forgetting to take it so as soon as my milk dried up at 4 1/2 months I just went on to the regular pill and all was good. I am not sure what we will do this time. Campbell was our last bub so maybe I should send DH in for the snip!
Beema - I am glad your appt with your paed went well. Who do you see? It sounds like your little miss is doing really well. It is great to have a paed that you really like. We had Martin Tuszynski with DD and he was brilliant. We asked for him for Campbell but he was away at a conference so we have Simon Costello and so far he has been great too, completely different to Martin but he still makes you feel good about how well bubs is doing. I hope the hip scan went well and she wont need any intervention.
Went to the Big Softies sale yesterday and stocked up on sleeping bags for Campbell. I hope he takes to them as well as DD did as we found them to be fantastic for her.
Campbell was due for a feed 3 minutes ago! Better go and start it warming and get him ready! Hope everyone is have a great weekend so far. Crappy weather here
Hi Girls, I am still around, I have been reading but every time I sit down to write a reply I get interupted by 1 of the kiddies!
Things here are going really really well, Kate is such a dream baby- I feel so lucky to finally have a baby that is laid back and placid, although I am not getting to comfortable, as in the back of my mind I think that I could wake up any morning and it could all change. I am feeling very very lucky as she sleeps beautifully over night, anywhere between 5-8 hours, with a quick feed and back to bed.
Beema- I will keep all my fingers crossed that the Losec makes a differences for the refulx, it is such a horrible horrible thing to have to watch your baby go through. Liam was a reflux baby, and it was very nearly the reason we almost stopped at 2 kiddies, it broke my heart everytime I fed him and he screamed.
Mnj- Awesome news on Campbell's weight gain, and great work with the expressing, I take my hat off to anyone who does full time expressing!
DTD & Contraception- We haven't DTD yet, but I have just been to the dr today because I have a suspected uterine infection due to ragged membranes at birth, so it will be a little while longer for us- if the infection doesnt clear I will have to go back in for an ultrasound to look for retained product (gross!). For contraception I am going to have the mirena put in- most probably, I have the prescription and a referral back to the hospital to get it done, I just want to have a chat the GP re: possible side effects etc.
Other than that not much going on here, we are just about to hit the silly season running- we have stuff on every weekend now untill christmas, including Liam's birthday, which we will celebrate on 5th Dec to give him a bit of time between his birthday and christmas. Tori has her first ever dancing concert in Dec and is super excited about it.
Anyway I had better go, Kate is sleeping and Tori is at school, so I promised Liam I would play a game with him!
well we weighed jazzy friday coz the nurse wasnt there but she is now 4.13kgs so only a 100gm weight gain which is good but not the best
going to see the nurse friday again with jamie for his 18 month check and jazzy's check
Wow great to see all these babies doing well with their weight gains They are all different but perfect for them
marknjo ~ great work on the expressing, you can try Motilium to help with your supply, it helped me a lot with DD1, I expressed for her for a long time as we tried to get BF'ing established.
JJJ ~ 100grams is still a good gain hun, they have big and small weeks, and our Paed was happy with 100grams plus
Ali ~ thanks hun reflux isn't fun at all, we are going to be flat out for the rest of the year as well.
I hope everyone else is going well
AFM ~ we went to the GP yesterday as DD's Paed was interstate on holiday and the Losec wasn't lasting 24 hours, and she had a really bad episode yesterday morning, when I was holding her, she was basically drowning in milk, her sinuese and throat were full and all I could hear was a gurgling noise It was horrible, and scared the life out of me because I was already holding her up and didn't know what to do So she is now on a higher dose and we have split it into 2 doses and it seems to be helping more. She has been awake most of today, but at least she has been generally happy Miss A's scan went well, aside for the screaming, crying and throwing up But it looked pretty positive, but we won't get the final results until next week when her Paed returns.
Beema sorry to here about miss A I hope things starring getting better from now.
Ali hope the infection clears soon.
Hi every one else. On my phone so quick reply. We are good. Breastfeeding is still not happening properly but getting there slowly still pumping and.ebm. dd2 turns 2 today. Time flies. Take care x o
I have been keeping an eye on everyone's posts to keep up to date but have my mother in law here for the last week so haven't had a chance to post sorry! It has been so good having someone cok for us and just help out with bits and bobs - makes me realise how much easier it would be with family in the same state! However, also makes me proud that we have managed well on our own also!
Beema - poor little Miss A, there is a boy in my mothers group and the poor little thing is always crying in pain, it must break your heart. I hope it eases up for her soon.
Mini and MNJ - I admire you for expressing and being so persistent, I can only imagine it is even tougher in the early hours of the morning and think it is great you are both trying so hard. I hope things continue to go well and your supply increases. Happy birthday to DD2 Mini.
Ali - the silly season is both daunting and more exciting with a little one in tow, I bet the three of them keep you very busy! Hopefully there will be lots of play buddies for them to keep them occupied at all of your festivities!
Retro - woo hoo on Eboni's weight gain - she sounds like a very happy and healthy little girl, you should be very proud of yourself for doing such an amazing job!
DTD and contraception - we haven't tried yet (had my 6 week check up on thursday and all is good), so I think we will probably give it go sometime soon! Is vey weird though and it seems like such a long time since we have! DH was too freaked out by the end of my pregnancy that he was going to hit/hurt Edward! (And I was so exhausted I didn't mind! lol) Contraception - my Ob gave me the a prescription for the mini pill, however, he said it can make some women bloated so i am a bit hesitan about taking it. I am working really hard at losing weight (sensibly though as I don't want it to affect my milk) - I don't want to take anything that makes me fat! I was back to my pre-preg weight by the time I got home from hospital (however, still with a lot of tummy flab!!), but wanted to lose lots more kilos that have snuck up over the last few years. So i have lost 17kgs so far (11 of those was what i gained during pregnancy), so i am doing well to average a kilo per week on average, but would be just as happy to lose just half a kilo a week too. So - long story short, I think we might just use condoms and/or pull out.
AFM - following on from my comments above, we are keen to have another little one already, so we will start trying again in a year. My Ob thought that was a good time to wait. He made me feel much better about needing the emergency cesearean in the end. He said it was an Obstructed Labour so we were eft with no other choice. Even though I laboured well and ended up being fully dilated, edward was still not engaged at all and my pelvis was too tight. He said in all honesty it is likely the same will happen again next time but was more than happy to support me if I wanted to try a VBAC. He said was probably best to wait a year before TTC (which is what I was thinking anyway). He was so reassuring and made me feel so much better about it all (and I love that he is so pro-natural I really trust and beleive him when he says these things). I can't imagine having a baby with anyone else so his receptionist was great and said she would slot me in again and to ring next year before we start trying and she can let me know when he has holidays booked on for too! My DH stirs me up that I have a crush on him - is quite funny - but realy - I just have so much respect for him and feel in very good care with him.
Anyway - sorry for such a long 'me' post - I think i have rabbited on a bit!!
Is anyone else thinking of another one already? I am loving every minute of Edward and just feel so lucky to be part of the special 'motherhood' world.
DTD: we dtd the other night and there was no pain but i didnt have stitches or anything so i was lucky. only prob was DH, he arrived alittle to early lol. he kept sayin sorry it was funny. im a bit paranoid doing it again but. i am waiting on the gyno to ring me with a time to get my mirena in.
DS is feeding well and puttin on over 300g each week.
he isnt sleeping very long of a night still doing 2 to 2.5hr feeds of a night. It is really startin to get to me cause most of the time i dont get a chance to sleep durin the day cause he only has little naps of a morning and then has a big sleep in the arvo at 2 but DD sleeps from 12 to 2pm. im thinkin of giving DS a formula feed b4 bed to see if that will fill him a little longer of a night so i cant get a bit more sleep. at the mo he isnt going down till 1130pm then wakes at 130am, 330am,6am and 9am.
anyones bub had their needles yet? mason is gettin his on monday. DH is on night shift but i am going to make up get up and come with me cause it breaks my heart holding them when they get their needles. i made him do all DD's lol.
i tried gettin some pics of the 2 kids together the other day and they drove me insane. Mason was asleep most of the time and would wake up as soon as i stopped and DD decided that she would close her eyes and say ha ha my eyes r closed. im going to try again next week and santa hats on
sorry i dont get many personals done i am finding it so hard to get on the comp latly. mason is so demanding with his feeding and has a fair bit of wind still too. oh and his wind seems to really bother him at 3 in the mornign dunno y. we r normally up from our 3 feed till our 5 feed
Sassy- Sorry to hear you are not getting much sleep, I think everything seems so much harder when you are sleep deprived. I will cross my fingers that DS will start sleeping longer stretches overnight and give you a break soon. Good work on the weight gains though, at least you know all that feeding is doing good! Have you tried Brauers or Infants friend for the wind? I used infants friend with DS and it made a big difference.
Bubble- Good work on the weight loss, you must feel really great. As for TTC, for us, we are done, I feel really complete now. Although after having DD#1 I was the same, I couldnt wait to have another- hence the reason there is only 18 months between DD#1 & DS. Even after having DS and swearing I would not have anymore because he was such a difficult baby, there was still a piece of me that knew I wasn't done, hence having DD#2.
Beema- How is Miss A going on her Losec now? I remember when DS went onto it and it started to work- it was like a whole weight had been lifted off my shoulders, to not have him screaming and squirming after every feed was just awesome.
mini- Excellent work on the expressing, you are doing a great job! I hope DD2 had a wonderful birthday.
Retro- Eboni is doing so well with her weight gain, you must be so proud of yourself (&her)
AFM- Kate had her check up at the cardiac clinic at the children's hospital last week, for the heart murmur that the paed heard at the hospital. Good news is that there was no murmur detected, her ECG etc was perfect and we were discharged there on the spot. We are still having a good run of things here, I keep telling myself how lucky I am to have such a placid baby- part of me waits for the wheels to fall off it all, but I am going to keep enjoying it while I can.
I hope everyone is travelling well, and looking forward to hearing how all the beautiful bubba's are doing.
