Yay finally looks like we have all graduated! What a run of girls we have had.
Our Stats-
Name: Kate Lousie
Weight: 8lb 7oz (3.8 kg)
Length: 53cm
Head: 36cm
I had a great birth experience too- managed to do it with just a little bit of gas at the end, and as I was telling DH after, the gas does nothing for the pain really, but it is a great thing for redirecting your focus. BF is going really well, I can feel that my milk is coming in so I am sure that the next few days will be interesting. The paed picked up a bit of a heart murmer yesterday, so will have to go and get that checked again in a couple of weeks, but they think it is just developmental, from her valve closing, as she was only 26 hours old when we discharged, but will get it checked to be on the safe side.
Tori and Liam are just in Love with their little sister, and want to be right there helping out all the time- I am sure it wont take long for the novelty to wear thin though.
I hope everyone is settling in well at home with their precious bundles and at least getting some sleep.
Bubble- Nope I don't miss being pregnant at all, I am soooooo glad to be able bend over and touch my toes, give my babies a cuddle without my big bump in the way..heheh. I think for me, I know that this is my last and I am ready to move on and enjoy each new stage as it comes without missing the ones that pass too much.

just need to know time and day for the list =] ali and then we need to get spf in here
-
i cant believe its day 3 already :o i feel so funny coz im going home today
well finally had her measured yesterday and she is the same length as her brother at 51cm and a HC of 35 which is 2 cm smaller than jamie was
Bfing is going good just still a bit tender but i think her feeding 4 times this morning actually helped lol
-
Triple J - glad all is going well, hopefully breastfeeding won't hurt as much soon. I bet your looking forward to getting home, hope she settles in well.
Hope everyone else is enjoying their little ones and grabbing some shut eye when possible!

Hey everyone!!
Glad to hear that everyone is enjoying their newborn snuggles and settling in :)
DD2 is going great, I keep waiting for her to change her "routine" but she is pretty consistent, although I did manage a 4 1/2 hour block of sleep last night
I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying it this time around, with DD1 is was stressful, mentally and physically exhausting 24/7 feeding expressing etc, where as this time I have been able to get back into work  as I feel like it and am able to function.
We got our new washing machine delivered and installed this morning, would have done it myself but it was 78kg and I don't think it was advisable moving it only 4 weeks post CS. But it is fab and sooo happy to be able to wash clothes again! With DD1 is was the hot water service in our house that died not long after bringing her home, talk about luck... or not!
Must runa nd get things done we have visitors coming from Melb this weekend and with DD1 home tomorrow I need to get as much done today as possible! xxoo

hey all... typing 1 handed. Am having to express and give ebm every feed. Amy is very bad at sucking. She doesnt use her whole jaw to suck and gets frustrated and comes off all the time or falls asleep... I am trying hard to give it a good go, but I will need to put a limit on it because I have 2 other girls who are missing out with the amount of time I spend on the couch. Its been busy this past week with appointents and stuff. Amy has had a few dusky episodes where she has turned blue during bottle feeds. So after taking her to the gp and on the advice of the paediatrician I took her to the local er and got her assessed last night. Basically she has poor sucking reflexes and imature windpipe and her drinking and not breathing at the same time has caused her face to turn blue. I have to take her for a follow up assessement at the hospital tomorrow with a paediatrician. Other than that shes a great baby. She is so different to my other 2 girls who would wake for 2 hourly feeds. Amy has to be woken for most feeds and has at times gone 6 hours before a a feed and sleeps 4/5 hour blocks:) I actually have to make sure she gets fed! Anyway, if anyone has tips on getting her to learn how to suck properly I would appreciate it.
Hope you are all well.
Anyone heard from SPF?

hello!!
Sorry i havent been in here much. i still havent put my birth story up...
AFU-Nurse visited monday... Eboni is 54cm long now, HC is 37.5 and her weight bare is 3.83kg i think, ill have to check blue book and come back and change it if it is wrong. BFing is going much better!! feeding off both sides! I have to thank my sister for lending me her expresser and also DP for having a suckle... it seemed clea it out so we got the mastitis(sp?) early.
Eboni is doing great sleeping alot, wakes about 2-3 times during the night if not only twice. I'm still doing demand feeding. I dont think Eboni sleeps more than 5hrs. and once she does i start to worry.. ahh joys of motherhood!!
DP seems to be getting more sleep than me and its annoying the cr ap out of me. I ask him to help throughout the night and he says yes but i dont hear him so i keep asking him and nagging.. Then i sit thre crying my fricken eyes out :( Not fair i say!!

Hi girls- I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying lots of snuggles with the bubba's.
Things here are fantastic, Kate is a lovely placid baby- she is feeding and sleeping well and it is such a lovely difference after having such a difficult time with DS when he was born. Tori and Liam are just in love with their little sister- sometimes a little too much, as they just want to kiss her and cuddle her all the time, but I am sure that will wear off eventually.
I am starting to adjust to coping with less sleep already, the last couple of days have been a little tough as DH had to go back to work and I have been home with all 3 kids on my own, and learning to juggle all of their needs has been interesting. Next week I am sure will be much better as Tori will be at school, Mon, Tues & Weds and DH will be home on Friday. I am trying to get back into normal routine as quickly as possible for the sake of the older 2, they need their structure and life is easier for all of us when they are able to predict what is coming up, so it is back to swimming lessons today for DD, and we will be back to playgroup next week.
I have written up my birth story here
-
oh no!!!!! I just wrote the longest reply and it didn't post!!!!! grrrrrrrr
I'll re-write, but in brief so sorry for the quick replies.
Beema - wow, back at work - things must be going great guns for you, that's fantastic. How are you healing up after CS? (Glad you didn't move the washing machine!!)
Mini - sorry to hear b'feeding is a bit of a struggle. I am still a novice myself so have no advice sorry, but have you been in tuch with the ABA - maybe they can help? Have you met with your lactation consultant? Hopefully you are able to get some help, I can only imagine it is becoming quite time consuming and especially with two other DDs.
Retro - late night feeds can be quite lonely, you're not alone in the tears, I think it is a natural feelings, and our hormones are still all over the place too. Maybe sit DP dwn and have a chat with him about how much it would mean to you if he got up with you for one or two of the late night feeds.
Ali - sounds like you are coping really well, that is great that Kate is being so agreeable too! Sounds like a good plan to keep the routine and structure for the older two (and for you too!).
SPF, Sassy, JK and Triple J - hope you are all going well and enjoying your little ones and resting when possible.
AFM - well in my previous post that got lost I wrote a really long 'me' post which i couldn't be bothered writing again. I'll try and paraphase. Basically all is going well but I just keep second guessing myself and doubting myslf which is makng me a bit teary. I am also really looking forward to my 6 week check up with Ob as I have loads of questions, especiallyabout the birth and that we ended up wih an emerency cs. I love my Ob and trust him completely and know that he is very low intervention and very pro natural birth, so I wouldn't have had the cs unless it was absolutely necessary, but I think I just need to hear it again from him. When we talked about it in the hospital everything was still such a blur! It is silly that I am worrying about it, because until the birth I didn't mind either way (would have preferred natural) - just as long as Edward was safe. Maybe I have just had too much time to think! I have also been obsessing about thinking about a second child already (up until Edward was born DH and I were undecided if we would stop at one or keep going). Where as now I can't stop thinking about it and when the right time would be. I am thinking close together would be nice. Also want to chat to Ob about how long to wait in between. Any opinions on how long to wait would be greatly appreciated!!
Okay - so it ended up being a very long 'me' post - sorry! Overall i am so happy with Edward, and am really enjoying him and our time together, I just need to stop being my own worst enemy and have confidence in myself as a mother!
-
Bubble- I think that is part of the curse of being female, over thinking things! As for the how long to wait between babies, I think it is something that you just know. DD1 & DS are only 18 months apart, and life was really tough for the first few months- having said that I would never take back that age gap, but I really wasnt at all prepared for how difficult it would be having 2 that close together. DS & DD2 are 2 years 10 months apart and I am finding this gap much better, Tori and Liam are much more independent, and they understand a little bit better that sometimes they have to wait. Having said that though I am much more laid back with Kate and I don't jump up to get her the second she wimpers, I make sure I finish what I am doing with/ for the others before I go to her, unless she is really upset. So I guess the short answer is there is no right age gap, it is whatever feels right for you.
Don't forget Mummy instinct is a very sure thing, you just need to trust it, you are doing a wonderful job!
-
everything is good over here i feel like i dont get much time anymore to get on here lol its busy with 2 little ones jas is a little windy but she seems a lot better at recovering by farting or doing a explosion but she does look a little pained but she is so much better than DS was and she isnt a chucker either shes loving her booby and no cracked nipples so far fingers crossed
-
Bubble- everything that Ali says!!! Hugs anyway! I have 19 months between my first 2 and it was hard but now they are so close and play so well together. Theres 23 months between dd2 and dd3 and I am finding it easier because the older 2 play so well together and dd2 is a tad more independent and is good verbally. Hope you get some answers about your csec.
J- glad to hear all is going well. It is super busy isnt it!
Retro - hugs, many a tear shed here too!
Hi everyone else, hows mummy hood treading you?
We went to the hospital for the paed review and Amy got the all clear. Still having major issues with feeding. Am going to look into an osteo and hopefully that works and if not then I will need to make the decision to eclusively do ebm or swap to formula... not sure yet. Hoping thet Amy just gets it one day! I am super tired and am falling asleep mid feeds. Nearly dropped Amy last night coz I dozed off! I need more sleep!
-
Hi everyone!
Mini ~ I am glad that Amy got the all clear :) Have you tried a Nipple Shield, the reason i suggest it that it take a lot less effort to feed using one, I used one with DD1 for 10 weeks as she was a crappy sucker and it made a big difference as they don't have to hold the breast tissue in their mouth, you can get them from chemists I would suggest either the Medela or the new Avent one's. I am also using one atm with DD2, because she caused a lot of damamge to my nipples at the start and I have tried weaning off them but she isn't ready yet so will try again in a few weeks.
Bubble ~ Definitely write down everything you want tos peak with your OB about, that way when you see him at your appointment you will have it all infront of you. How are you recovering for your CS? If you want to go for a VBAC I think they prefer a 12 month wait, but I kow people who have had shorter gaps and ahcieved their VBAC, the actualy chance of uterine rupture is very low 0.5% chance. I would suggest going over to the VBAC threads and having a read there is some great information there :)
Ali ~ A lovely birth story thankyou so much for sharing. Miss A is fitting into/around DD1's routine, it is much easier that way and she has really settled in quite well, I actually think it is easier doing it this way rather then setting a routine/ish thing for the first child!
Retrogal ~ Miss Eboni sounds like she is doing beautifully, and I am glad you ahve a great support network to persevere with the BF'ing.
JJJ ~ Everything sounds like it is going a lot easier for you so far this time, fabulous news!
SPF ~ Hope you are going well
AFM ~
Ahhh so an interesting day here, DD1 has chosen to not sleep, to not listen and keep doing things she shouldn't, whinge for Grandma and was too busy watching Abby Caddaby that she wee'd on her fold up couch *rolls eyes* even though she was really good and took herself to the potty 4 times this morning. Along with waking up DD2.
DD2 is doing really well, she switched her "routine" last night, she was feeding 3 hourly then she started to stretch it out, and instead of feeding (approx times) 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm, 3/4am, 7am, she went 2pm, 5:30pm, 9:30pm, 2am and 6am :D She is also down to having one boob at a feed, because she was just power chucking so much having two, I think she was being over fed. My right boob is killing me and I couldn't sleep so I got back up at 4am and expressed got 120ml and was able to sleep after that. I am not sure what it is, becuase I have been having the pain on and off now for a couple of weeks the Dr couldn't see anything and said that I would have to go into hospital to get it checked. But hopefully it clears again.
I'' be lurking for the next few days, with friends over from Melbourne keeping us busy, have a great weekend all, filled with baby cuddles xxoo

well hello ladies,
we have had a bit of a wind problem so things have been a bit full on. I was told to eat more protien and good fats and it will help to settle his tummy.
last night was the best night we have had only had 2 feeds. but when i woke up this morning and my boo bies were soooooooooooooooooooo big and full lol.
DD is being pretty good, she has gotten very stuburn sice DS was born but i guess it is all just a big adjustment.
i have been tryin to sleep when DS does but as the rest of u know with other kids that is pretty hard.
retro: i understand how u feel about DP gettin more sleep. I was the same last night with DH, he wakes for like 2 seconds when DS wakes for a feed. After DS's 1230 feed he had a lot of wind and i just couldnt keep my eyes open to help him get the wind up so i asked DH to do it and i got the oh if i have to attitude.
Even though the cot is in our room by about midnight or 2am DS ends up in bed with us it is just so much easier to settle him if he has wind or chucks.
-
sassy i hear u on the stubborness Jamie is the same at the moment but we think hes getting some teeth through which is fun not lol
-
ohhhhhhhh - grrrrrrr - I lost my post again!!!!!!
Bugger, bugger bugger!
In short - thank you ladies for your kind words. I know you are right and I need to stop doubting myself. Edward is a happy little man and I should be proud of myself and what my bdy has done.
I'll drop by later and re-type the pesonals I did in my lost post.
