Sounds good:) Definately up for a catch up
Hi all. I thought I'd pop in and introduce myself.
My baby boy Campbell Nicholas was born on October 20 weighing 2520 grams. Head 33cm. Length 48.5cm. He was born at 35+6wks and came home last Friday after 9 days in the SCN. He is doing really well so far. He is on a 4hrly routine and is being bottle fed EBM. My DD is fantastic with him, we caught her in his room the other day "reading" to him!
Birth was a much better experience than first time around! I had a vaginal birth with an epidural which I was glad i opted for as I ended up needing a manual placenta removal so it was able to be done without delay. When I had dd I had no drugs for the delivery and ended up with a spinal block after the fact for a MROP so I wasn't taking any chances this time!
The midwives in the SCN were fantastic (we had a great experience with them when dd was born also) and we were glad we chose to return to the same hospital.
So right now we are enjoying having our little man home and getting a kick out of DD's response to him.
Jo.
welcome  jo i'll add u to the list wat time was he born?
just a tip even though i have no idea u may want to if u feel like hes a bit behind visit the group where he would be if he was born term obviously its not there yet but yeah i found my DS being full term and at the start of his group i visited the earlier group just to check up so i wasnt worried xoxoxoxox :)
Hello marknjo!! Welcome to our baby buddies :)
AFU- Eboni is now weighing 4.25kgs. seen the nurse on tuesday and in a week Eboni had put 300g on!! i was shocked!! We've only used one box of newborn nappies well almost used them and then she will be in infant. She is sleeping more during the day, sleeps maybe 4hours and then at night say she feeds at 11pm she is up at 1am and then 3am and then 5am, so she is waking every 2-3hours some nights and its starting to take its toll on me seeing as my DP doesnt help most nights and he has told me i'm a broken record when i ask him to do something....
Happy 3weeks Eboni!! where oh where has the last 3weeks gone?
ETA- Eboni is spewy!! spews after most feeds, its doing my head in, i keep thinking to take her to doctor.. must go she is doing a poopie i must clean up lol
well we got weighed today and we are 4020gms gain of 285gms from discharge and 60gms over birthweight :) and now we are 52.5 cm long :) go go super booby milk :)
marknjo - welcome to the group! Glad to hear everything is going so well fo you and that the birth was a great experience. Sounds like you were really happy with the hospital too which is great - which one in Melb did you go to?
Retro - sorry you are getting sleep deprived hun, make sure you try and have a snoozr during the day if you can to try and bank up some sleep for the nights. It can be tough doing the night feeds and especially when it is so regulalar. I found Edward went through a grwoth spurt around three weeks and had a few really bad nights (u every hour), but it settled down after a few days and now I get 2-3 blocks most nights again. (If I get at least one solid block of three hours I find it easier to cope). Must be hard with DP not keeping you company - can you compromise with him and ask him to keep you company for one particualr feed? ie the 4/5am (or last) feed of th night? He might be more open to it if he knows he only has to do one a night? Or maybe ask that he help on the weekends? So you can look forward to the company a couple of days a week? You are doing afantastic job with Eboni so you should feel very proud!
JJJ - I am in Balwyn Nth, us Melb girls will def need to have a catch up when you move closer. Will be nice for you to be near your Mum too.
Nothing new to report here, just very in love with my little Edward and for the first time since he was born had 4 hours sleep in a row last night!!! I woke up so confused and panicked becasue I had been asleep so long! LOL
Welcome marknjo- sounds like you are doing well with your little man and dd. I had my 3dds at Monash. Oh and thats a great bday for him, not only is the date cool, my birthday is that day too. DD3 came on the 19th so we will be doing loads of celebrating together:)
Retro sounds like E is going great guns... just need to work on getting more night sleep. Definately sleep during the day when she does.
Bubble- yay on 4 hours! isnt it funny how we panik if they sleep for longer... quite often i will pop my hand near their noses... even with my big girls!
J- well done
Hi everyone eles. just typing 1 handed again. We are doing ok. Have got4 weeks pump hire left so if Amy hasnt got the hang of it by then I will swap her over... shes getting ther sometimes though, so it gives me hope. Other than that shes good. Shes hungry hungry from 4pm til about 10pm and feeds every hour or so. zzzzzshe does 3-4 hourly over night too. My big girls love her so much, they want to be with her all the time! ok.... take care
JJJ - thanks for the tip. I will probably hang out in both groups. I am not too worried about his development as I went through it all with dd also so know what to expect. At almost 36 weeks he shouldn't be too delayed anyway, just needs to beef up a bit!
Bubble - I went to Cabrini. Couldn't speak more highly about them, so well looked after.
Mini - how nice that you will be able to celebrate your b'day together. Monash is closer to our house but when we did the tour of Jesse Mac the midwife was a cow so she turned us off going there as I thought it would be just my luck that I would get her for the delivery! After doing the Cabrini tour we were sold and then we were so well looked after with DD that we didn't even consider going somewhere else second time around.
We are out at parties all weekend so it will be a test to see how portable the little man is, we are hoping he is like his sister. The little miss was born at the start of hockey season so pretty much from the day she came home she was at hockey at either my or DH's games. She is very social and I think this has a lot to do with her being around lots of people from day 1 (well week 5 anyway - she was in SCN for 4 weeks!).
Well better get moving with shower etc. DH is at golf and as soon as her gets home at lunch time we have to head out. Loving the weather in Melb today!
Marknjo what kind of hockey do u play? Dh plays ice and used to play inline as well. Where about do u live? I am in springvale south. As for moving groups I don't think there's a need to. Ur lil mans earliness won't make difference.
Am loving the weather today... done so much houseworkand.feeling.great. ok am on.my phone expressing better go.
Hi everyone!!
I am spewing, wrote a post and thought I'd posted it but must have closed the tab instead :wall:
Welcome :hello: MarknJo, I'm a mum to two prems as well, DD1 was born at 33+4 and Anastasia at 35+5, and it was a huge battle to get that far  you are more than welcome to stay here and chat :) I used to play field hockey when I was @ uni :D
Mini ~ you are doing a fabulous job hun, so so proud of all you efforts - 30 sucks is a massive improvement!!! We've got lovely weather too, I been doing lost of housework too, just gotta clean out the fish tank and hopefully I may get to do some sewing!!
Bubble ~ wooohoooo for four hours sleep!!! Brilliant, and happy 1 month to Edward!!
JJJ ~ fabulous weight gain for your little girl :leap: for passing her birth weight!!!
Retro ~ wow isn't Eboni doing fabulously with her weight as well :excited: DD2 is spewing a well, and I am not really enjoying my new "scent" acidiy BM" hopefully it settle soon!
AFM ~ Miss A is doing well, seems to be having a longer sleep in the afternoon, I am hoping that she does that at night time instead, but she is going 3 hours or so at the moment over night, she was going four hourly... maybe another growth spurt!
Other than that nothing much to report, Paed appointment next Friday, she is growing a lot quicker than her sister did, the extra two weeks made a big difference to her ability to suck and she feeds so much better so I guess that is why... and off to the WCH next Saturday for her US.
Have a lovely weekend xxoo
lol beema i discovered that smell today omg i didnt know where the smell was coming from and it was my BP :o
Mini - I play field hockey for Mentone. I love it! We used to have a bit of a social hit at inline a number of years ago, even have an inline stick but haven't used it in years! We are in Dingley so not far from you at all!
Beema - we play melb uni & monash uni, maybe I have played against you! 2 prems also something in common! Although my pg's were pretty straight forward, I just expressed cooked them. Everyone says they were both just in a hurry like I usually am!
The little man has been quite spewey today after his feeds, I am wondering if it is something I ate but can't think what it could be. Hopefully his tummy will settle down for the next feed.
Fantastic day today in Melbourne, absolutely loved the weather!
hey marknjo, nice to meet you. congrats on your baby boy.
bubble, i know how you feel, everytime i wake up i am convinced i have fallen asleep feeding kayla and have rolled on top of her. i quickly get up and check to see if she is in her bassinet. i am totally paranoid about it.
hang in there mini, i hope amy can get the hang of feeding soon. i do seem to find kayla needing more feeds from about 5pm-10pm, but then she does go 4ish hours at night so i can't complain there.
retro, could you try and get dh to maybe do one nappy change in the night then bring eboni back for a feed? i find even this is a big help.
triplej, sounds like jasmine is doing really well feeding, she has grown heaps!
sorry back for more persies tomorrow, kayla is hungry!!
Another exciting time... Amy just had about 35 sucks in a row from my right boob.... this side i find harder to feed her from. So yay... things are slowly happening. Have health nurse appointment and physio for her foot today. Pumping my boobs so sorry no personals:)
 JJJ
Woooo Hoooo Amy :cheer: great news Mini, I used to count the sucks with DD1 so I know how exciting each ome is
Marknjo ~ I played in SA, so wouldn't have seen you on the field ;)
man that wasnt funny it was a feral smell its off breastmilk its so weird
Hi Girls- Still around, have been reading but running out of time to get a full reply typed.
Welcome Marknjo, congratulations on the arrival of your little man.
Retro- Night feeds can be so tough. Does Eboni feed from both sides at night or is she falling asleep while feeding? What I have found helps is I feed Kate from one side, and she usually drifts back off to sleep, so I get up and change her nappy, this is enough to wake her up and she usually wakes up enough to feed from the other side. I am generally getting between 3 1/2- 5 hours out of her over night.
Mini- You are doing a great job with keeping up with the feeding and expressing, I know how hard having 2 other kids at home is when you have a baby, I can't imagine having to find time to express as well. Woohoo, for 35 sucks, fingers crossed she is starting to get the hang of it.
Ooohh I hear stiring, better be quick!
Things here are great, Kate is sleeping and feeding really well. She generally has at least 2 good blocks of 2-3 hours sleep during the day and a couple of short sleeps, so I am managing to get on with things at home. She was weighed last week and she is a fraction under 4 kgs, so she was nearly 200gm above birth weight within 8 days of being born. We have an appointment at the children's hospital next tuesday to get her heart murmer checked.
I had better go, will try and pop back in later to catch up on some more personals.
ETA- JJJ Kate was born at 9:57am for the list
