hey all.
we are enjoying melbourne.
v doesn't really have a routine but it goes somewhat like this
7-830 awake and bottle between 830-930.
play, sleep, boob feed at some stage some times
bottle around 12-2ish
boob feed mid arvo. sometimes a bottle.
bed at 7-830ish.
wakes at 1-230ish, 4-5ish, and sometimes again before 8. which is annoying.
it really is all over the place.
i prefer not to enforce routine on him, I have tried making bedtime regular and what not but it has made no difference to his sleeping over night anyway. so therefore he eats when he is hungry, sleeps when he is tired (most of the time I do an awesome job picking up on the tired signs) and plays when he is awake.

Brydz - coops is the same regarding sleeping and eating when he wants to its just he tends to do it the same time every day kwim? Glad you guys are enjoying Melbourne
AFM - I just made an awesome lasagne that took ages but I feel sick. Stupid AF and a combination of meds![]()
Hi Mummies!
Just a quick attempt to doing some persies....hopefully I don't miss anyone / anything important! lol
Vix - Group Question - Noah's Routine (if you can call it that as I don't think he is in a real routine yet)
Wakes anywhere between 6:00am-7:00am - Has a BF feed (although the last 2 mornings he has been waking at 5am!)
1-2 hours of playtime
Nap around 9am - lasting around 30-40mins
1-1.5 hours of playtime
Has a bottle of Formula or BF at around 10:30am
Nap around 11am lasting around 45mins to an hour (sometimes)
1-2 hours of playtime
Has a BF around 1:30-2:00pm
Nap around 3:00-3:30pm for about 30-40 mins
Has another BF around 4:30pm
Bathtime at 5:30pm
Has a bottle of Formula at around 6:30pm
Bedtime at 7:00pm-7:30pm
He then for the past 2 nights have gone back to his always 12:30am feed and then again at 4:00am!!
I reckon Alannah's routine sounds good.
Raffy - Yeah, I'm sooooooo happy to have finally moved upstairs, although the kitchen and upstairs bathroom isn't finished yet, but will be getting down in the next month or so, so that's good. Can't wait to have it all FULLY completed. lol Yay on the slumber party downstairs, sounds like fun! lol How exciting that it's only a few more sleeps til your Mum gets there! As for your question about how often to feed Coops solids, My GP told me that you should only feed it to him maybe once a day in the beginning just to get him used to it as solids aren't supposed to replace a baby's nutritional needs and that BF or FF is still more important for babies under 6 months. Sorry about crappy old AF....
Clover - LOLabout the poo, I had one of those explosive type one's this morning too! Gotta love them....lol
Nikki - Thanks honey. I'm thankful to be about 1800km from where the cyclone is going to hit. It's sad that it's such a severe and big cyclone and about the damage it's going to cause up there. I just hope that everyone up there stays safe. Yay on Ben going well with his needles and that it's over for now. I think it's worse for me than for Noah. lol Glad that Ben got a couple of spoons of Farex in. Noah's been the same, tried it again tonight and he only took about 2 spoons, but most came out and then he closed his mouth and shut his lips together so tightly I couldn't get the spoon in there so am also going to leave it another week or so and try again to see. No point in forcing it if they don't want to eat it hey? Sorry to hear about your car's battery. It's sucks when things break / don't work and you have to just spend more money to get it all fixed.Happy 4 months to Ben!
Brydz - Glad to hear you're enjoying Melbourne and that Vinny got to see J. Hope that it went well the visit and that his Mum wasn't around so that J could be himself and get some "quality time" with Vinny.
Hello to everyone else and anyone else I missed!
AFM, had another great morning with the Mummies and bubbies from my Mummies group. We're going to meet up once a fortnight now so will be nice to get out and about often and catch up with them.Noah was a good boy today, he had 3 morning naps for a total of about 2 hours and a big arvo nap at 3-5pm, which meant bathtime, feed time and bed time was much later, which hopefully means he will stay asleep longer....lol. DH is a funny man.....he just said to me that it's only another 7 sleeps until I have my operation and that next week this time I'll be fixed.
What he didn't realise and forgot was that I'll need to heal for a week or two first so he will had to add at least another 2 weeks to his 7 sleeps before he'll get lucky DTD! lol I'm looking forward to tomorrow as I'm meeting up with Eng. Haven't seen her or her little boy since he was 2 days old on 26 October!! Been wayyy too long!
Well then lovelies, I had best head off, want to sit down, have a cuppa tea and watch a bit of TV with DH before crashing in bed.
Love to you all!
xoxox
time for some personals.
hello to everybody!
Pretz
Have you given the farex a go with Noah? Yeah its anywhere between 4-6 months, depends on the baby really and its ultimately your own choice when to start them. I know some people who’ve had to go a bit closer to 3 months cos bubs have just not been satisfied enough with milk.
Are you all settled in upstairs now? Must be nice to finally get to use it
Nice to see you had a good time with the other mums and bubs. Our mummy group finished, now that I’m home from Melbourne will have to see if they want to catch up some time. Hope you and Eng had a lovely catch up!
Clover
Very sorry I missed your birthday. Hope you had a fantastic day!
Did you get anything at the flachengeist party? I went to one at my friend’s mums place a while ago. Some of the stuff is really nice. I still have a bottle of chocolate port on my mantle in the kitchen from it.
HAHA for a second I almost believed it was your 21st… lol.
That’s a good way to put it ‘food is fun til they are one’. The WHO recommends breast feeding for at least a year, even 2 years. (Or I guess in some cases formula feeding)
Raffy
Have you tried Coop on the solids yet? I am hoping to feed V for a little while longer purely on bottle, maybe a bit of farex because I want to skip the pureed and start with baby led weaning (which is basically where they can eat whatever, so long as it is soft and they can hold it and shove it into their own gob). You don’t need to spoon feed them, sounds messy but sounds a lot of fun for bub to experience food rather than just be fed mushy stuff. V can’t quite grasp and hold things just yet. He is trying though, with bigger toys and things he can grab them sometimes and put them to his mouth, so I think it will only be a few more weeks. Maybe at around 5-6 months.
Thanks for your comment about me DTD. Nice to know not everyone judges. Anyway that one time has satisfied my curiosity about what it would be like post baby and now I probably won’t feel the need for quite some time. Melbourne was stinking darn hot the whole time I was there (except the super strong wind at the beach LOL).
I see you tried farex and fruit. Good idea, though they often recommend vegetables first or else they get the liking for sweet things and then don’t tolerate the taste of vegetables as easily.
Nikki –
Hope Ben got through the needles okay without any dramas. Have you tried him on solids yet?
With regards to appliances IF V gets desperately hungry and I choose to puree for a little while before I start the baby led weaning, I have the cutest little mini food processor my uncle gave me for xmas. It is perfect for baby food. Not much bigger than the palm of my hand. Oh wow Ben is already into 0s? V is still in 000 in t-shirts and shorts etc but 00 in onesies. Although almost growing out of the onesies in 00. They just aren’t designed for long legged babies. Length wise he is a few cm’s shorter than the restriction for the size. However his legs are longer than his torso and just don’t fit in the leg parts properly.
Bummer about the flooded laundry, though thankfully it’s nothing compared to the big floods and cyclones up top.
Same as I said to raffy, you should try vegetables before fruit so the bubs don’t just wanna eat the sweet stuff. Most health professionals will recommend it that way.
Morning y'all
Another stinker of a day here, being close to 40 again! Thank goodness for the ac. I dont mind the heat but it is the humidity the is crappy.
The boys have just gone to MIL's for the day and she is taking them down to the pools for a swim. We'll pick them up later this arvo for swimming lessons.
DH has gone into Sydney Harbour with his Dad and some bloke from work for a fishing trip. Hope he brings home dinner although we do have 2kg of prawns for tonight in the fridge!!!!! Yummo in my tummo!
Raffy - I cannot remember how long I did the boys for on one meal a day but I am presuming I fed them their first solid after their late morning feed and then after a few weeks, tried a second lot of solids late arvo. Did that for a few weeks before doing '3 meals' a day and always with the family so they can 'practice what they see' so to speak....so breakfast with me, lunch with me and dinner all together and ALWAYS after a bf or ff.
Rather than Google, phone your CHN or visit the clinic where you should also be able to pick up brochures etc on solids etc
Clover - WTG on her -7pm sleep! That is awesome. Although for me an arvo sleep of that nature would fit in better here.....*yawn*! lol
Yes, know all about the 'poo and crashed out' scenario.
Nikki - My eldest used to wake up at 8.15am every morning for months without fail. You could set a clock by him so I understand the 1.15am precisely feed! Happy 4 months Ben!!! Love his pic in your siggy too.
Brydz - I have not set the rountine for Alannah apart from waking her up in the morning as she can sleep through from say 8pm at night till 10am in the next day. I have just written down what she herself does by following her tired signs, play time etc and even when we are out, she does the same. Some days when I am really busy she will just crash on the floor and I just leave her there.
Pretz - Hope you had a nice time with Peter and Eng. I must arrange with Erica a Morning Tea now that preschool is back and DH is back at work in the next few weeks.
AFM: ............welll Alannah is asleep atm so I might put some washing on! How blumin exciting! lol

afm
we arrived home from Melbourne about 430ish yesterday, about a 2.5 hour drive (though we did stop so I could get a feed and feed/change bub before getting onto the freeway). I actually drove on the freeway! woohoo. Have only done it 2-3 times EVER. And the last time I had mum in the car. This time I did it all myself. Not that scary, though I didn't have a lot of traffic around.
While I was in melbourne I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the suburbs, we also went swimming and went shopping. Was just so nice to be in a different environment and stress less. And was fantastic to spend time with my friends, though I left a day earlier than I planned because it annoyed me that I came all that way to spend time with my bestie and she still slept in til like lunch every day.I thought she could have made an effort to get up and talk to me. Her boyfriend had work. SO it was just me and V each morning bumming around her house. Would have loved to sleep longer but between him being a cranky bugger and the heat it wasn't very easy. There was ONE day I slept til 1030 (but woke several times overnight).
Now that we are home I have just paid some bills. Yuk. Still waiting on elec, water which should be due to arrive soon and also have to pay next rates installment by the end of febgoing to be relatively tight on money for a few weeks.
Not sure how that affects my trip to Adelaide, was hoping to go over for a weekish in March. But at the moment it isn't looking too likely
Gotta call J because he wanted to come over after we got back. Hopefully he is serious and can come today and can stick around at my place spending some time with V alone while I go and grocery shop or whatever. Would be nice to get a break!
Hope all are well. My family in QLD survived the cyclone alright as far as I know.
vix
obviously posted at the same time! oh okay so that is her natural routine! awesome. when did she start getting into a sort of routine by herself? V does from time to time. Like he generally has a bottle now between 830-930 in the morning and then goes back down for a sleep. He generally sleeps from 730-830ish at night until around at least 1 or 2 in the morning. But the rest of it is all still very variable.
Daytime we have 2 modes atm we have -sleep for 2 or 3 hours at a time mode. Where he'll sleep most of the day in large naps. Or we have catnap annoy mum mode where he'll be cranky and clingy and sleep for maybe half an hour 3 times the whole daydon't like that one..
Argh! Cant find the info on changing my Avatar - does anyone know who to send the email too otherwise I am going to be utd forever! lol
J came to visit Vinny today!
OMG everyone act shocked! lol. I couldn't believe he really did it.
It was nice to see them spending time together again. He was very quiet though lol. I went down the street for 20 minutes to give them some time alone. It was good for us all I think.
Positive steps. Lets hope the positive steps keep on coming.
Can only mean great things for the lil man![]()
Vix - there is an avatar request thread, im sure if you went in there someone will be able to point you in the right direction and maybe even find someone that will take away the bump and put in a little miss. the link is
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...uests-2-a.html
Brydz - im so glad J finally turned up and he got to have 20 mins with V. thats really awesome and an excellent step forward. WTG.it keeps up.
AFM - coops is going great guns on the solids, he still has all his normal bottles whenever hes hungry but ive just chucked in a solid meal in the morning after his 11am-ish FF. it has been stinking hot here so we took coops to the pool today, thus far he hasnt been keen on cold water but he loves his baths and will stay in them until they are cold and if you take him out before hes ready he would scream the roof offbut anyhoo he LOVED the pool. the second he was in it he was smiling and laughing and kicking and splashing! it was soooo dam cute. then he got out had a snooze and went in again. was lots of fun and we got to cool off as well. bummer that the kiddies had school carnivals on this week so the pool is shut to everyone else otherwise i would take him back during the week but thats ok we can take him again next weekend if the weather stays like this. having a bbq with my mummy and sister tonight and then going to look at a rental for them tomoro. cant believe they actually live here now hahaha it hasnt sunk in yet, even they feel like they are just on holidays lol oh well soooo nice to have them here. hope everyones having a lovely weekend. love to all xx
p.s awwww Coops as zonked out on the mattress hahah little dude is buggered after his big day
Hi all,
Just a quickie, am on my phone. Still in the UK. DP's dad died a few days agoso we are trying to organize the funeral etc cause we are his only family. Madi was great on the flight over (26hrs in total!) but is super unsettled since we arrived. Not feeding (ff) well, really constipated, and now sleeping really badly
It's sooo cold here which was a big shock for her (and me)
I've had a quick squiz at all your posts this last week (sorry for no persies- too hard on a moby) and noticed talk re solids. The paediatrician put madi on them 3 x day & she is loving it!! Which is lucky because she's down to 3 bottles of ff a day- if I try any more she just screams & pushes it away. So she's having rice cereal x 2 and veggies x 1 and I add ff to it so shes getting some more milk, honestly I have never known of a baby to be such a difficult feeder, it's sooo frustrating- especially since she was totally normal until 5 wks ago. Grrr. Anyway, prob won't get back on here til we get back home, so have a great week.

Bec, I'm sorry to hear about you DPs dad. I pray everything goes well with the funeral arrangements and he has a beautiful send off. Sorry to hear madi is being put out by all this. I hope its just while your over there and she can sustain some normality on your return. However I am glad she handled the flight well and she's eating her solids so well. Thinking bout you sweety xx
Bec - Sorry to hear about your DP's Dad. Big huge's to you and your family! Great to hear that Madi did well on the flight, but sorry to hear that she has been unsettled. It's probably a combination of the time difference, being somewhere else and the cold. I would actually LOVE some of that cold weather right now as I'm hating the heat we're having!! Can't wait for it to start getting cooler.
Brydz - Yes, I did start Noah on some Farex, but have only given/tried it every 2nd to 3rd day and he only eats a couple of spoons full and then he tightly pulls his lips together so I figure he doesn't want anymore. Don't want to force him, so just keep trying every couple of days and see how we go. I know he'll get there eventually. lol Glad to hear that J came to see Vinny and that they were able to spend some time together. I hope that you enjoyed having a bit of time by yourself while J visited Vinny.
Vix - Yes thank you, Noah and I had a lovely time with Eng and Peter. We went to Target and BigW and got a couple of things and had a lovely lunch. It was great to catch up with her and see Peter and I can't believe how big both of our boys have gotten compared to how little they were (Noah was 3 weeks old) when I saw her last before this catch up. I hope you have a lovely time catching up with Erica and Lachie when you see her. I'm hoping to catch up with her again when she comes to Brisbane again next month. Sorry to hear that Alannah has a cold, I hope she gets better soon!I sent ya a private message about the Avatars, hope you got it.
Raffy - Great to hear that Coops is going so well on the solids. Noah has been starting to cry too when I take him out of the bath. I was wondering when that would start. My youngest brother would NEVER want to get out of the bath when he was little. lol YAY that your Mummy lives over there now! How very exciting for you!! I was just talking to my Mum over the weekend about going to visit them (although I'm not sure when yet) and that way my entire family as well as all my friends in South Africa can see and meet Noah. I just have to apply for his passport I guess and hope that he will be good on the flight! lol
Nikki - How is Ben sleeping now? Hope the frequent feedings through the night has eased off. Noah has been sleeping much better thank goodness. He wakes only once mostly, but has had a couple of nights waking 2 times, but thankfully goes straight back to sleep.
AFM, have been busy reorganizing my house and finally getting Noah's room set up. Can't wait to have it done. Will take some photos once it's finished and post them on FB. DH is getting really silly with counting down to my operation Wednesday. He reminds me every night that it's only so many more sleeps to go lol I think he is looking forward to it much more than I am (obviously) lol.
Well then, I'm waiting for Noah to wake up any moment from his nap, but since he hasn't might grab some lunch.
Hope you all have a lovely day/week.
Love to you all!
xoxox
Happy Tuesday everybodeeeeee!!!! lol
Oh Bec, I am truely sorry to hear your FIL passed away. Sorry to hear Madi is unsettled. Could it be their water making her constipated?? Just a thought. Maybe buy bottled water and boil it just whilst you are over there. Boy, if babies came with instructions imagine how simple and prolly boring life would be.Safe trip home hun.
Brydz - I was super stoked to see the pic of Vinnie and his Daddy. I dont think he looks like his Daddy at this stage though....mmmmm...maybe the shape of his face but I am hopeless at seeing that kinda stuff. How did you feel about leaving them alone for 20 mins? I know it was a short though and a MASSIVE step forward for a Daddy-son relationship.
Pretz - Yay for the progress with your home. We were talking about reno/ extentions the other day and in the back of my mind I kept thinking "mess/kaos/mess/kaos"!
I took Missy up to preschool last week to drop the kids off and the girls (teachers) could not beleive how much she had grown, how old she is now and that she has two teeth! Thanks for your help re: that avvy. All fixed and I should have a new one soon.
Raffy - thnaks for your help too re: the avvy. Great to hear Coopes is doing so well and I am VERY jealous of him loving the pool (and Vinnie too). We put Missy in for 1.2 seconds and she hated it, esp when one of her brothers jumped in near her and she got splashed. She loves her bath though. Very releived to know you have family living close by now. You are sounding really happy.
Nikki - has spunky monkey doing now with his sleep? hope you are well.
Clover - how are you hun?
okay now typing with one hand and holding my babeeee whilst her bottle heats up!

Probably about a month ago I began to notice a pattern forming. Every few days she will have a big day sleep too. If you want, just write down what happens over a few weeks and you will begin to notice a routine too. Things wont be at the same time all the time but you will see one forming.
YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!!!!!
xxxxx
Alannah rolled over today(just after I logged off and was on FB) and then rolled over to her back again!!!!!!! Then she tried to roll back to her tummy but had no more 'geddy-up-and-go' left!
Am off to the Hienz site to get some info on solids - I have forgotten everything! lol
Just wanted to say too incase anyone is interested that I started NJ on solids with pureed pear and then gradually added farex which could be why he avoided the constipation. Just a thought and an idea!
Okay, I am outta here. DH is only working half day today so I had best make it look like I have done something apart from the lappy and drink coffee! lmao
