Please contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) or a Lactation Consultant if you are concerned that you may have breastfeeding and/or supply problems, and before the introduction of solids or formula.

Thought I would kick off our thread and post our arrivals list. Though looking at it, it seems we only have 3 babies actually born between the 16th and 30th of Sept so far ... If you want to be removed from the list, please let me know or if you want to join our group, also let me know and I will add you.
Wow what a lot of gorgeous little bubbas!, and looking at the list seems our Master Joshua weighed in the highest!..... Took him to the clinic this morning he has put on 700g since coming home (4.9kg now) so he is doing REALLY well). The clinic nurse did not believe that he was only 2 weeks 5 days old....
wow! such a large array of beautiful names for our beautiful babies
and out of that there is 2 Oscar's
my little man will be 4weeks old on monday, time flys doesnt it.
i am slowly but surely healing as i suffered a 3rd degree tear. and am slowly getting oscars routine together, he is still waking every hr to 2 hrs which has resulted in many sleepless nights, and me being extremly emotional.
i had a waxing appoitment yesterday booked it so that Oscar would hopefully be sleeping while i got it done, but nope wide awake half way through my eyebrows started screaming his little lungs out, tried absolutly everything nothing except me holding him helped. i got rather stressed and upset and decided not to continue with my waxing so walked out looking rather odd (one eye done the other not) i have to go back today to get the other done as DP is not working today as its his bday! so thinking of sneakily getting my nails done and coffee with my girlfriend while DP has oscar!
on another note my darling sister gave birth to her first son early this morning
after being induced on wednesday 4pm! poor girl mine was 13hrs and bad enough.
her and her DP welcomed Lincoln Oliver weighing a massive 9pound9. he has a beautiful head of hair congratulations to my sisterr.

I thought I would post in here to let you all know I am around and will be posting in here as soon as I get a chance. Anelise is sleeping at the moment and Harrison is (hopefully!) about to take a nap so I might join them also.
Anelise has been a brilliant baby... she loves to co sleep with us as much as I enjoy her co sleeping but there is still that part of me that is way too scared. She spent all of last night in her bassinette though which gave DH & I a lovely sleep.

Just thought I'd drop in and say hi.
I can't believe how fast the time is going, my darling little girl is 8 months old already!!!
We've been doing really well, have taken a few backward steps in regards to our nighttime sleeps, but other than that everything has been going really well.
Had our 8 month appt last week, 6.96kg - Emily is still so little, we just can't get to that 7kg mark.....

Besides that... Anelise & I are both well. Anelise is soooooooo close to walking. She climbs our 15 stairs between down & upstairs at our house! She is a crazy little active girl who is always doing something mischevious like pulling things out of drawers, climbing things etc. She definitely keeps me on my toes and is polar oppsosite to her brother! lol
Well our little man has been officially diagnosed with reflux and is on losec. Hopefully this will decrease the hour or so of uncontrollable crying about 2 1/2 hours after a feed (fingers crossed).
Hopefully it will also stop some of the advice coming our way about how I should be feeding him more cause he is a big bub and that's the only problem, and nothing else. Grrr. He's putting on close to 300g per week, I think he's getting enough! Grr at people and their 'advice'
Poor little Joshy also mild conjunctivitis / blocked tear duct, so have some drops for that if washing it with saline does not do the trick.
It's like having Kaitlyn all over again. Sigh
I'm starting to feel down and doubt myself as a mother - need to focus on the positives. Don't really want to go down the PND road again.

leanne dont stress my bub is on zantac for reflux and is always unsettled i feel bad too because i do formula and breastmilk and feel its my fault somehow! i also get comments but mine are that he is too fat! he isnt even 2 months old and was extremely underweight almost a kilo underweight when we brought him home so just let him enjoy his milky! ppl will always have something to say!
AFM im actually very upset, my sisters best friend had a bub a week after me and her and her partner were only 18 and despite all the pressure to abort from both sets of parents they decided to try and make it, he got an apprenticeship and stood by her the whole time, on the 15th of october little layla died from sids at 2 weeks old i get goosebumps just writing this, she was so cute and the sad thing is me and DF had that name set in stone if we had had a daughter, it was meant for her though. im terrified now for my son i dont want it to happen to him.
MHB - I'm so sorry to hear about poor little Layla, it's something that I think we all have a terrible fear of in the back of our minds, but to hear of it happening to someone close to you must be heartbreaking.
I know it's hard not to worry, but please try to remember how rare SIDS is these days, therefore the chance of it happening to your little boy, or any of our little ones for that matter, is extremely unlikely. Please try not to worry.

Leanne, sorry to hear about Josh & his reflux, at least having him on losec should help the poor little one settle, it must be terrible not being able to help him when you know he is in pain.
Emily had a blocked tear duct right from when she was born - we persisted with the saline washes for about 3 weeks before it cleared up so hopefully that will do the trick for you. Try not to let it all get you down, just remember that you can and will only do what you think is best for your little boy - that's what being a mother is all about, it makes you a great mother!!! So don't doubt yourself, just go with your gut.

Hoping it is not too late to join this thread. I am new to these forums, but think this will be a great help for me.I have just made it in, my son Benjamin Thomas was born 30th Sept at 6.06pm. He was 3.605kg and 54cm long. I delivered him after 9 hours of active labour (though contractions started the night before).
We have had a tough few months with reflux and colic, but we seem to be coming out of the fog, and have had a week of good sleep. I'm a bit freaked out though at this talk of 4month sleep regression I have been reading about. He is sleeping well, but I'm terrified that we will go back to the bad old days again.
I'm breastfeeding (with the aid of a nipple shield) and it has been a bit of a bumpy road but seem to have settled into a nice pattern.
I look forward to contributing to this thread more often, and have enjoyed reading about your babies.

Hi & welcome Krist & Benjamin. I look forward to getting to know you both better. For what it's worth, Anelise is now sleeping beautifully once again, so hopefully your little man decided to skip that stage
Easha - Gentle massage around her belly button can help, as can soaking in a warm bath. Otherwise I don't know of much more you can do to help with consitpation as both the things I have mentioned have helped with my babies. Perhaps try to figure out what it is you're eating that is making her this way also and try to ease up or eliminate it from your diet. I am sure some of the other lovely ladies will come in here and tell you better than I have
As the girls on my facebook already know, I started Anelise on solids yesterday. I am so glad I did. She loves it! She has been displaying a want for food for a little while now by getting really angry when we eat and opening her mouth when she sees us eating and poking her tongue out. I tried her on some rice last week (squished in between my fingers) and she ate a few bits, so after much umming & ahhing and fighing with the part of me that wants to follow WHO recommendations, I finally gave in and fed her. She opened her mouth to the spoon once she realised there was food on it, and then she would poke her tongue out for it, and once the food was in her mouth she started to hum, like she was enjoying it! She has been so much happier too. I thought perhaps she was teething because she has been so cranky. I guess she was just hungry.
Lisa - my husband and I have been debating over the past week whether or not to start Emily on solids, she's showing some interest - not quite as much as you described Anelise was showing!! But she's been quite cranky as well which is why I was starting to think it may have to do with teething, but after reading your post I'm definitely going to at least give her a try on solids. BTW, what date was Anelise born? Emily was born on the 16th Sept at 11.05am, I think our girls may have been born on the same day, or maybe one day apart now that I look at your post.
Sorry Easha, I don't have any other suggestions for you re constipation, I would have suggested the same as Lisa.
Welcome KristaW - glad to hear things are great with your bub. I also had issues with BF when we began but have not got into the swing of things and we are going well now. In regards to sleep Jaida did regress for only a few nights walking 4 hourly but she has since returned to 7pm - 5am and then more sleep until 8am. From what I understand around the 19 wk mark they have a huge mental growth spurt. Hopefully the sleep regression wont happen or if it does only for a few days.... I was so run down after having 3 days of little sleep I caught a headcold
Ladies thanks for the advice re: poo - Jaida wasn't constipated..... just held on for 5 days and then had poo explosions - twice all over EVERYTHING.
It is interesting reading about giving your bubs solids... I have been thinking the same myself as Jaida watches me eat with great interest. Also in the bath we give her a little water (out of a cup) and she eagerly grabs the cup herself. I still might hold off a little cause I dont know whether she is actually ready or whether I am just really excited and too eager to give her solids??
I have found Jaida on her tummy in her bed a few mornings this week and she doesn't realise she can relax her head so she gets really agitated. She knows how to roll back but hasn't quite linked together that this can get her off her belly IYKWIM.
Jaida is also sitting with support and rocking - very cool to see new progressions
Good to hear from you all - it has been like a wind tunnel in her for awhile
