PP. I have heard of that happening with mothers groups and being excluded once you have a second bub. A playgroup is definitely the way to go - Mums with bubs of all ages and it's usually only for 1.5-2hrs so it's not a huge outing and the kids love it. Even if you don't make close friends, it's still someone else to talk to to share the load kwim. Great to hear that N doesn't need the splints though. I guess you just make sure he always has well fitting shoes and he should be right.
Clare, hehe I knew you would be driving past the house I'm sorry to hear that your Oma has emphysema now on top of everything else. It would be making the anxiety attacks harder on her too because of it.

G, I hear ya on the wildlife front LOL! The other night it was a flipping Plover that was squarking at 1am down on the dam so I went outside and threw a heap of rocks down that way to make noise and make it bugger off. And yeah, don't worry about the bottle because he will ditch it sooner or later.

Arte, Alister is really into cars and trucks too and will play with them for hours. It's funny to see him outside on his own as he copies what he's seen Lindsay done when they make roads and he gets the shovel they use and 'grades' all the roads.
last night Alister and I were looking at some photos of them all because I was looking for a specific one and he's naming everyone in the pics and we came to the ones of him just born where he's getting measured and weighed etc and in one of them it's not really clear, you just see this pink baby in the crib with nothing on and he points to it and says "PIG!" cause I guess to him it looked like a little pink baby pig but I explained to him it was him and then he kept saying 'me baby' it was so funny.
sherie - great idea re the playgroup - i will try to find one on a friday when i have them both with me...am sure i will get it all sorted, i just like having some structure etc. i am good at spending loads of time by myself, but when i know i dont HAVE to LOL! and i like having mums around with bubs at the same stage just to check things with.. liek how often i can use saline in his nose (he has a terrible cold atm - we al do courtesy of Noah), is it ok that his baby acne is on his chest etc too?, you know all the little things we worry about that someone else would be dealingg with at the same time... i also feel like i have forgetten what it was like with N, ie when things happened, what i was doing so some other mums woudbe good to bounce ideas off...
anyway enough about this, i am making it a muchbigger deal than it is... the good news is DH and i have stopped fighting. i wont admit that having a nap yesterday did help (as did my cooking fest - freezer full of good food now for us all, something less to stress about and cooking is such therapy)

Missy E goes to playgroup every friday without me . Just not game to hang around all those strangers right now...have postponed kindergym for another term too. But I agree, playgroup a fantastic idea, great idea to hook in with Clare's mummas, and your other ideas are good too PP. I feel a bit isolated here too, but that's kind of a good thing this year (get so stressed about germs) but I know there will be plenty of time to enjoy social things once chemo is out the way. It's not like I don't have an 11 y.o. talking at me until my ears bleed anyway LOL.
Took Missy Snotasaurus Rex to the drs today and a good thing too - ear infection. She's been very disinclined to anything today and has literally spent The Entire Day flaked out in front of the telly/draped across me. The snot has done it's work and I'm feeling really off today too. Noice.

PP - bit jealous of your freezer-full. I've been making withdrawals from my freezer fund but no deposits so we're getting a bit light-on. I'm supposed to do a cookup for my stepmum who's veggo and can't stomach my dad's meat-based cooking but I've run out of zest for now. Wowed everyone on the weekend with my new sweet potato soup recipe, but that was cheating because the whole thing takes literally 20 mins and hardly has any ingredients in it LOL.

ETA justcalled playgroups ACT and they are calling me tomorrow with any suitable playgroups. they also told me there is 'paint and play' starting in narrabundah on a friday (which is when I have N at home too) - this is sooo great as they run one in griffith but it is thu so i miss out... YAY!

Noni - So happy for you that the feeding is going well, I'm glad the doc has eased all the worries you have had. i am not sure - it is a community run thing here where they set up heaps of activities in a park and the kids roam around. it is in a diff locn each day of the week... i have always missed out as it is on N's kindy days but this one is meant to be, it is baically next door to my house and on fridays. i hope it starts soon.
MM - yep you read that right.. how crazy!!! if we go oseas i am not sure where it woudl be, we are feeling v fussy about where we would go - looking through both of our works but v fussy re location (my Dh is with the govt and I am with a multinational so there are lots of diff opps we just need to find something that suits us both and our family) iw oudl love to go back to london ideally as we haveheaps of fam there and friends already (we moved back here when iw as 3 mnth preg with N). but to behonest i think melb is morelikely for now, and maybe i woudl prefer that. ummm i dont feel like my life is so glam and if you could see menow....

PP, That group sounds absolutely perfect for you and the boys! I loved playgroup when I was taking the kids because you can have entire families of children as it goes from 0-5 years so I'd load them all up and go and they loved it. It was a really small group too - max 20 kids if everyone turned up. I only stopped because Lindsay started preschool and it was too much to take them out 2 days in a row for playgroup then preschool. I wouldn't mind getting back into it with Alister but the one I would have to go to now has far too many 'strong' personalities, to put it nicely

MD, that's no good at all that Miss E isn't well I hope that you don't get any worse than what you are too You do realise though that the most simple dishes are often the best ones to have everyone go crazy for - it makes you seem like Nigella LOL. I have loads of dishes that are dead simple to make but look like they are really hard and they are the ones I always use for entertaining.
MM: oh we are so happy about the house! even more so recently as my friend's dad has offered to draw us up plans for the extension (he's an architect!) for free!!! so that is a 20K saving right there...i cant wait to have chickens...
Sherie: it can be done! I studied through open learning when i lived in Fiji and i am currently studying with Leila as young as she is...it can be done! my mum also did a teaching degree when i started school...go for it i reckon!!!!

Leila is a delight as usual. and her communication is skyrocketing. i love being able to sit down at dinner and recount with her our day together....so awesome. i *think* i love the toddler stage the best so far....ask me that when i am in the middle of the terrible 2s!
WELL...took Missy E to care this am to hear that one of the littlies there has just been diagnosed with RSV - had a freakout, looked it up and hmmmm...not sure I can't say that we're not the family who brought it to care this time THOUGH another boy was coughing and sneezing about 5 days before E started up. So had the guilts until I read it's not excludable anyway so I guess we're officially sanctioned then LOL... Share and share alike The other littly is not very sick either so that helps to be cavalier about it too.
PP - agree a return to Europe would be amazing - tho I imagine a very different experience with littlies than before. Though I agree Melb is great too, esp with family there.

Arte - agree the difference between boys and girls is pretty amazing, tho i think it comes down to the individual as well. DD1 was a whole lot less girly than DD2 is - don't know if that's because of the sorts of games that the day care ladies encourage them to play tho. Current FDC lady has 2 girls so lots of very girl stuff at their house, whereas here we have lots of no-particular-gender toys.

went off to my mum and bub movie this morning - saw balibo. graet movie but go when you are in the mood for something pretty heavy and moving and thought provoking (MD maybe not for you this yr!) - a v diff experience to 'the ugly truth' that was on last week. i felt a bit sorry for the bubs in there with the sudden explosionsetc.
trill-i've done a primary teaching degree. you could TOTALLY do it. it's not an overly challenging course and you would be a BRILLIANT teacher. just beware that you fall in love with lots of littlies and want to take them home LOL

It's a respiratory virus, but it can cause nasty wheezing and sometimes bronchiolitis &/or pneumonia in babies. Not noice but vast majority of cases are mild.
Trill - I've done PART of a teaching degree and I agree you so totally would ace it in. You would make a great teacher, after being a full time mummy to 4 you will have the crowd-control element down pat LOL.
PP - yeah saw a bit of the Balibo thing on Margaret & David last night...would love to see the rest of it - have a strong interest in all things Timor ever since forever - having lived in Darwin & known lots of East Timorese refugees it has always seemed v. relevant to me. But not this year LOL. Thinking we'll see Bruno this weekend if it's still on as my sister is taking the girls overnight. Wowee just like real grownups again. LOL at pink one cookie. We haven't had tick tocks yet but I bet Missy E would love them, cookie-monster that she is.
ETA How good is Noah for knowing his pink! Missy E still gets confused with pink/red...for example, she points to the sauce bottle at dinner time and whines for "pink, pink, pink." No it's RED and it's called SAUCE and you can't have any more cos there's still some on your PLATE! LOL
Trill - I agree! You should do it. Also there are plenty of us mature age students at uni so you dont feel awkward with all the school leavers running around. My studies are going good but I just dont have as much time as others who dont have kids, for obvious reasons. The trick is to be super organised and keep up to date with home work & readings, & do as much of it as you can when the kids are napping or down for the night.
MD - OH NO on the RSV!!!! That will be a nasty one if your family catches it. HAHAHA thats if I end up getting preggers, YES I will be needing that arvo nap thank you very much miss M!

Dont know if anyone saw my other thread in the babies & toddlers, M had a major collision with an older boy today & came off second best. Whacked her head big time, I dont think I've ever seen her so distraught, & it has never taken her an hr to calm down from something. Also has a huge bruise. She is happy at the moment, but I am too scared to put her down to sleep.
