Aus day plans - We are having dinner down on the foreshore with family while watching the fireworks. Hope M doesnt get scared.

Ginger - What the!!! First birthday already, thats crazy! How fast has that gone.

MP - Glad you had a nice time in NZ, I would love to go there one day. When are you back to work? GL with house hunting.

Trill - I know I cant bring myself to spray the bed, my parents will have a heart attack anyway. Its my bed from when I was younger, but its beautiful solid jarrah and probably worth a stack, my parents would have a cow if they knew my plans lol. Have you bought the bed yet?

MD - The colour doodle sounds good, that would be a great pressie for a one yr old!

Ginger - Whoa big standing boy!!! That's amazing! I can't believe it, it's gone so quickly. First birthday - I agree the wagon is a great idea - although E still plays with her pusher wagon (indoors) a sturdy outdoor pull-along would be great. The sand/water table that MP suggested sounds great too.

MM - dinner & fireworks sounds great...we've got very vague plans about heading down to the beach later on ourselves but I don't know if we'll linger long enough for the fireworks or not.

Cally I went to a play cafe place yesterday and they had some of the Trofast drawers and my friend was checking them out - so it looks like we'll be having an Ikea stomp together in the next few weeks. :) Did you decide which ones you're getting?

Ginger, I can't believe J is standing! This past year has gone too fast. The wagon is a great idea, W has a cheap one that he loves.

I've been guilty of buying NZ cheese over Aussie brands...I figure we're practically one big happy country anyway :p.

MD - We are getting the stepped one, but when I actually sat down and worked out which bins we need, we end up with far more bins than space. So I think I will get the one which is also three across and one large bin high. It can either sit next to the stepped one, or underneath. May not tell DH about that, he can just figure it out when it arrives..... Also, I think we are going to end up with pink and white bins. Each size only comes in certain colours and I think that is my preferred option.

Aus day - we went and did the grocery shopping then stayed inside out of the heat for the rest of the day. We did have lamb for tea though.

Mp - good luck with all your house hunting

Had brekky with a friend on the weekend (Cass, from your mothers group in Canberra) who we hadn't seen in yonks. Miss K spent the whole time chasing their little one around to give him a kiss. Apparently he is normally the really affectionate one, but even he had had enough and was telling her to stop. I like that she is affectionate, but I think we might have to have words about spreading it around too much!

DH back at work tomorrow. I think it's been a good holiday for him and K.

Can't say I've had NZ dairy. We have a local cheesemaker here who makes some pretty good stuff.

Hope everyone is well, early night for me tonight. After Miss K staying in her bed and quiet all night on Friday night, we have had night wake ups again. I knew I would be disappointed when I got so excited on Saturday....

Cally - Glad that your DH & K have enjoyed their long holiday together. Must be hard for your DH to go back to work after such a long break! Ah well holidays not too far around the corner again.

Looks like alot of us are in the market for kids furniture atm! Trill did you get the bed in the end? I am eyeing off a beaut little bed for M, I dont think I can bring myself to spray the Jarrah bed white, besides that I slyly mentioned it to my dad, he just about had a cow lol.

Aus day was wonderful for us. Just had a yummy dinner down on the quiet, family end of the foreshore (no hooligans or irresponsible drinking!!) & enjoyed a couple of bottles of wine. M rode around on her bike, well more like spent the whole time fending off other toddlers from her bike, funny how they get so posessive of their things. She wasnt too interested in the fireworks though.

Just having a quiet one at home today. Pretty soon our weeks will be busy with work, uni & swimming lessons.

MM I will admit to being relieved to hear you have abandoned your white paint plan! There are lots of lovely white beds on the market...there are a couple of nice day-bed style ones at Ikea in the white that would look lovely with the dressing table. :)

Cally we had lamb too, but had ours earlier on the weekend when we had guests and then the leftovers the next night. Mmmmm L L L Lamb!!! My favorite.

We went down to the beach late yesterday arvo and they swam and I paddled...not brave enough to put my new boob into bathers just yet. Wondered why we haven't done it more often..:think:... OH YEAH that's right :doh: - it's because I've had chemo and surgery and kinda kills your outdoor activities a bit :lol:. Felt kind of like we were back to normal family life though which was nice.

Yay thats great MD. I'm sure you will feel comfy getting into a cozzie in no time. :)

We had a wonderful time on our weekend getaway. - We caught a ferry to North Stradbroke Island with another couple who have 3 children around the same ages as ours. (we met them almost 8 years ago at Ante- natal class, and have become great friends) The beach was gorgeous, the kids paired off and played beautifully and we took the Wii and all had fun playing it.

H loves the beach - tries to go in by herself and ride the waves lol. She doesn't wear her floaties in the pool anymore,( although she has left a couple of floaters in there iykwim lol) and can swim from one side of our pool to the other. I'm still trying to work on her social skills - likes to pinch and scratch when things aren't going her way. I want to start at Playgroup - but i'm worried that she'll get a name for herself on the first day! I've booked her into Kindergym, so we might start there and then progress to Playgroup.

anyway, enough rambling from me - hope to chat tomorrow :)

ps - Trill - have you looked at a bed company called bunkers? We bought the bunk bed for J and Z there.

well yesterday afternoon L was running around in the back garden when he came to a grinding holt and turned around and ran back up the hill with his hands waving in the air like a crazy man! it turned out he'd run into an echidna that was happily picking away at the ant holes down there. it was so funny! dh took him back down and they had a closer inspection of it and he tried to explain that it was exactly like Sammy from the Koala Brothers, Lewis thought it was a crack up and kept making 'RAAAAA' noises like it was a dinosaur!

LOL G, that would have been funny to see.

Jaz, I did come across them in a google search but because I can't *see* their beds, I'm not too keen on them kwim? Is their quality good do you think? Nice and sturdy? The only place in NSW is Sydney, and we'd have to drive there to look at it, then possible have to go back to pick it up and all that.

H, We haven't got the bunk yet because the wheels of motion move slowly around here LOL. Plus we've got a big loan that is due next month to be finalised too so cash is tight atm. We aren't in a huge rush to get it, just looking around to see what is available mostly.

LOL MD. do you have to wear the surgical bra even while swimming or can you take it off for that?

Well I sorted the boys room out yesterday and put the cot back in there to see how he goes sleeping in there again (remember last time it was the start of his shocking sleep regression?) and it wasn't too bad - A bit of mucking around and talking, but both boys had a big sleep yesterday afternoon so neither of them were really tired. I think it will be better today if he doesn't have a day sleep.

I was wanting to get back into going to playgroup with him too - I always did it with the other 3 but then we started preschool so I stopped going. But with him being the only one home I think it would be good for him. There is one not far away that meets once a month, which will be good because I wont *have* to be there every week and I can fit it in around Uni, school and everything else LOL. The one in town that is every week is a nasty one - loads of dominant personalities and one woman who has two boys who do no wrong :rolleyes: and will smack your child if she thinks that they are 'threatening' her boys. She has driven a lot of people away from the playgroup and I just wont stand for that bull**** from anyone, so it's best I just don't go there to start with ROFL.

And he's had another growth spurt too - he feels heavier and is a heap taller too - he is reaching things he couldn't get a while ago LOL. I should probably take him to get weighed in march when he's 2.5 like the paed suggested just to see if he does need following up and all that. I don't think he's put on a load of weight though, but enough to make him a bit heavier LOL and his jocks fit a bit better around the leg holes now too.

G: cool! we used to get echidnas in our yard back in QLD when i was growing up. they are just so special!

Cally: that is so awesome! ah i do miss the girls from my canberra MG i must say. sharing those newborn moments can really leave an impression and bond between people.

AFM: all ok here. leila has been *testing* her limits lately with doozer tantrums and attitude-a-rama actions. yesterday was the worst one by far! went to drop off a friends kid with his playmate and the plan was to keep on going to the park with her other son...leila didnt agree! and oh dear, what a frightful mess it all became. i had to wrestle her out the door with her kicking, screaming and flailing and pinching me. there we were stuck on the footpath while we waited for the other mum to come out (we had decided to walk to this house, so no fast escape in the car home lol). i put leila down and left her in the shade of a tree to let it all out. it consisted of her YELLING at the top of her lungs NO NO NO NO NO NO! jumping up and down on the spot. spitting at me, trying to hit me and throwing her bag at me and herself on the ground repeatedly. i had no idea of what to do!!! so i just stood there, dumbfounded lol. eventually i picked her up when she had been reduced to mere sobbing (which of course then set her off again lol) and started walking. in the end she got over it and by the time we got home she was fast asleep for the night (at 6pm!!!). Still not sure how she got so tired as she had had a day sleep and all. ah well.

Clare - Oh my goodness what a tantrum!! lol bet it was a tad embarrassing too. Dont worry M throws some shockers, as they all do.

Trill - How is your uni study going? Are you doing one unit at a time or a bit more? I am doing two units this semester but one is online which is good and bad. Dont worry the bed I have my eye on for M I have to hold off on for a bit. With bills and a holiday fast approaching its definately not a necessity at the moment.

MP - YAY happy for you!! Bet they are missing you at work :)

Ginger - How amazing that you can have an echidna in your backyard!! Ahhh the country life. M's bike that we took down was just a cheapo ride on from big w.

Jaz - How have you encouraged H to be so confident in water? You have a pool right? I would love for M to be a water baby.

Well I scored a pretty good white cot today off someone's verge. I was driving through a more affulent neighbourhood that had bring out your rubbish, so I had a squizz as I drove through. We have a perfectly good one which hopefully someday we will use again, but I couldnt go past this cot. So I picked it up for my SIL. Though sometimes I wonder why I bother iykwim.....

Also I went to the GP this morning for ttc help, he is sending me for an ultrasound next Wed to make sure my remaining tube is working ok. Fingers crossed.

H I really hope that there isnt' a problem with your tube :hug: Isn't is funny how you think you are doing something nice but then you wish you didn't bother? I brought MIL a stainless steel drink bottle because she reuses this plastic one that will end up giving her cancer or something LOL, and anyway she declares - not just said offhand, but declared in a grand sweeping statement that "This drink bottle is a FAILURE! you said it would stay cold for 12hrs and I tested it by freezing it and leaving it in the truck all day so I would have a cold drink for the trip home, but it FAILED" and she got all smug and I'm like WTF? so I said, 'well I never said it would stay fridge chilled cold for that long, just that it would stay cool for UP TO 12hrs and I think maybe leaving it in a closed truck for 4hrs on a 40deg day may have more to do with it than the drink bottle failing because I've not had a problem with mine and I don't even freeze it first'. She has to find fault with anything she buys and it ****s me to tears because you can't suggest something to buy because she will tell you it's dodgy LOL. But at the same time it's funny because it has become such a large part of her personality to do that. So she's back to her plastic drink bottle - a soft drink bottle too mind you - and I can take the moral victory because I told her we weren't having a bar of cancer causing plastic drink bottles in our house anymore, not to mention all the plastic being produced :rofl: Uni is good - doing two subjects per semester both of them online.

DH is having his third day back - so far he missed dinner on Day 1, came home normal time Day 2 but then headed back in at 7pm and got home at 2am. Next week better improve!!

Cally - I hope the Ikea gods smile upon you. :) I'm getting used to DH having a longer day too :( - though not as late as that. There's talk of trips away again *sigh*.

Jazah, I'm sure H will be fine at both Kindergym & playgroup. We have some pushing and hitting going on here...unfortunately it's DD1 who's mostly provoking it (ugh she is OLD ENOUGH to know better :wall:)...although nothing at FDC...YET.

BUT my infamous swearing incident has repeated itself a few times since then - fortunately she is saying it with less and less conviction...hopefully she will forget soon.

Thanks girls, I am pretty sure the ultrasound will be ok. I had a chemical pregnancy in Nov so thats a good sign right? I guess I am just looking for answers and I'm really really nervous and uptight about having another ectopic, so I want to 100% rule out another dodgy tube. I am trying to keep myself positive though, if we do have to go down the IVF path I want twinnies lol.

Is there such a thing as TT regression? We arent TT too seriously yet, but M seemed to pick it up pretty quickly and has done number ones & twos on the potty or toilet on a few occassions now. Always tells me when she needs to go, or has a bit of an accident but always on the way to the bathroom. Whoops lol. Anyway today she has just been standing in one spot and weeing on the floor!! Then just before she piddled on a pile of clean washing :doh: I dont tell her off about it I encourage etc & say oops accident (inside going omg the washing!!). Anyway rambling a bit, the red wine is going down nicely tonight lol

MM, I think it's pretty normal for the TTing to go back and forth a bit...that's why it can be a bit of a long process sometimes. Perhaps reinforcing the message of "we wee in the toilet/potty" and some rewards like a sticker chart or even better IMO a lolly bribe LOL might help get her back on track. Make sure she gets a lot more attention & really make a fuss when she gets it right.

BTW I'm sure you're doing really well, we haven't even started with the TT yet. :)

Yeah, they can have a bit of regression. I don't know why they do, because I guess it could be for loads of different reasons, but it is normal if they do. Just keep doing what you were doing and she should get past it easy enough. Perhaps introduce some different rewards for when she does do it right to keep her motivated.

MD, I have got some reading stuff already that was online and they have dispatched my textbook and a CD-ROM. I also got the assignment schedule and it seems pretty full on, but nearly all of them involved a group task - but I'm not sure how that will work considering we are all taking it off campus?

AFM: well, i am a soccer widow today :( DH left at 8am.... ah well. we had a lovely night out last night as a friend offered to babysit so we went to carlton for amazing pizza and dessert, then headed off to bookstores and spent about 2 hours browsing (and buying lol!). i bought 'pride and prejudice and zombies'.

Trill, like Cass said, I'm guessing everyone will contribute a section. One person organises it into a single document, another person edits, another person cracks the whip/sets the deadlines etc. Don't forget you should have a chatroom/online forum for each of your subjects, plus there's always skype or what's that old fashioned thing called...um... yeah that's it, the telephone :rofl:.

Cass, totally jealous, that sounds like my dream date...only DH is pacing after about the first 5 minutes in a book shop. :lol: Please please let us know how you like P & P & Zs, sounds like a great read! Relieved to hear a successful toddler swearing rehabilitation story. LOL

MD - I think you must be physic, it seems that we have ended up with a completely white Trofast unit and boxes due to what was available in the store.

MM - sorry, can't help much on the TT, we only had our second wee in the potty last night. Well done for not reacting when she did it on the washing, I don't think I could have done that!

Well I got a heap of plants in this morning. Yes, I may be a bit crazy seeing as we will be on Level 4 water restrictions (bucket watering only) in about a month and our dam is as low as it ever has been, but those open patches in the garden were driving me crazy!!

Cally, did you get the fence finished? I hope you are enjoying the freedom of an enclosed yard.

MP, yay for getting the house! The move is coming up fast now.

MM, good luck with the scan, although I know everything is alright :hug: Remember that it takes an average couple 6 months to conceive, I am sure your little bubba is just waiting for the right time to join your family.

Clare, OMG that sounds like a whopper of a tantrum! We only have foot stomping and a grating yell. So far it hasn't occurred to him to hit/pinch/spit/kick (touch wood). And WOW at spending two whole hours in a bookstore! I would love to do that but the only bookstore here is a combo post office and it is hell on earth in there with a toddler!

Ginger, the echidna experience sounds awesome. That is something I miss about Australia - seeing random unusual wildlife. We used to get flocks of Galahs flying over, wild budgies on the front lawn, cane toads jumping out at us when it rained, geckos, green frogs... at work one day there was even a death match between an iguana and a bush turkey.

I actually got to do something today! DH looked after the kids while I cleaned the house ready for painting. It feels so good to get out and achieve something. Hopefully I will get two sides finished tomorrow, will see how it goes. Amelia is really good, she will quite happily spend time with DH and I only need to come in and feed her and put her to bed. There is no way that we could have done that with W - now that I have a comparison I can see he was the clingiest baby ever.

And I think that DH just realised that I don't sit around watching TV all day (as he has suggested I do in the past) - he was trying to watch a programme he had taped and after 4.5 hours he had only got through 24 minutes of it lol.

ETA: Amelia can sit by herself now. She isn't a little baby anymore.

Sounds like a double bonus Arte - time to get something done AND realisation by your DH...I hope this takes care of some of the complaining! Are you painting the whole exterior of your house or just windows and things?

BTW I would love to have seen bush turkey v. iguana ...or was it a goanna?

Cally LOL at my psychic prediction. You can always add to your set later on, mix and match some other colours in if you want to. Well done on getting your plants in. I too have planted things crazily in the face of water restrictions. We got on quite well in Canb just using the rinse water from the kitchen sink on the garden...kept a basin with handles inside the sink & rinsed in that - got all the vulnerable plants watered about twice a week that way.

MD, yes a goanna! I knew it didn't sound quite right!

Arte - OMG the fence, has that ever been a drama! It took yonks for the posts to get in, that happened a couple of days after Christmas. YESTERDAY!!!, the cross rails went in. Still have to make the gates and put the palings up, probably a day for each section. I've said it must be done in two weeks as I have to go to Sydney for work for a week and my mum is coming down to give DH a hand and give Miss K some time off from childcare and it is not fair on her if there isn't a secure backyard. I get in trouble for nagging, but somehow the idea that if you just get on with the job the nagging would stop hasn't sunk through. Very frustrating that he had all that time off over the break (yes K was home most days, but I never got a day totally by myself during the holidays whereas he had about 4) and now it's being squeezed in with work (he also went in for 4 hours this morning). At least he has given up on cricket for the time being. Rant over. Glad that your DH is slowly realising how much work littlies are.

MD - I have a bucket in the shower that catches that first flush of cold water each shower and that gives us lots of water. Plus I've been catching all the washing machine rinse water and K's bath water. The plants are probably getting more than they do when it rains. Unfortunately because we are so close to the beach it is very sandy so the water often runs off the top. Trying to get some more compost in the soil throughout the garden, I put heaps in the new ones yesterday. I've got some of those orange spikes with drink bottles on top too that send the water slowly down to the root zone. Not attractive, but they work! Some of Miss K's toys are currently in a plastic tub like you mentioned, I'm hoping to get the Ikea stuff next weekend and then I could start using one of them in the kitchen.

Well we have had two nights in a row without a wake up and need for Mummy or Daddy to go in to her room. Day naps are sorted, bedtimes are good, things are looking up on the sleep front here!!

not much going on around here. dh bought lewis a new bike and he is totally obsessed with it. rides it at every chance he can get. the first day he got it he was out the back practising on it till 9pm! crazy!
dh is busy working on his boat most of the time, we're heading up to echuca for a holiday next week-can't wait!

Ginger, are the fires near you?

yes, fires are on this mountain but on the other side from us so we are not at risk. they are about half an hour's drive away from us. we are ok where we are, they are not coming in this direction.

That's good Ginger, I worry about you every time I hear about fires.

Ginger - glad you're OK. We are 400m to the beach. I haven't been swimming in the beach for years (too cold) but we also have a lovely creek that is about 600m away that runs out onto the beach. There is a little playground next to it and it is a great place to take littlies. I swim there, but only when the creek is running out and it's the nice warm water!! Otherwise just my toes go in and I let DH hop in with K.

DD has a really yucky looking rash on her inner thigh so I thought this afternoon we would try undies so the nappy wouldn't rub against it. 4 wet undies and 1 dirty one later - nothing in the potty!! I am so not starting toilet training yet!! She went and sat on the potty after each time so she gets the idea, but dearie me....

MD - i am so glad you seem to be getting back to some 'normality'- i think 2010 will be a great yr for you.

i feel like i am a bit beyhind on the TT front - we have a potty and have had a few wees in there but havent done much more. i think we have had too much upheaval... will try in a fe months i guess when we are settled in melb..
afm - all is well here... Jacob had an awful cough again... went to the locums on saunday and they scared me by saying he prob has asthma... but been to paed this morning (6 month heck up) and he is pleased with him and thinks this is unlikely - made me feela whole lot better even if it could be asthma. he also checked the big list of other things i have worried about (LOL) and is really pleased with him.wants him to spend more time on the ground (he spends A LOT aleady) to encourage the rolling etc (he only rolls one way, and not too often LOL) but is generally happy. he is 7 moths this week - wow! not too ijterested in solids - chg for me as N could never get enough!
N is great - did i tell you all he finally pretty much sleeps through... yay!!iamwondering how he will go settling into the new house etc - but expect it to be ok... mainy worried about how he will settle at a new kindy (he is NOT Happy to be back ay kindy after his 6 wks at home with me)
aside from that busy with the move etc... packing happens on mon, we are going on a little road trip and then will be in the new house on friday! yay!

Arte I meant to say, my GF has a supersmart son, he was always very clingy/demanding as a baby, I wonder if there's a connection there with the early talking etc? I'm sometimes surprised at how less demanding/exhausting it is with Missy E than DD1 was at the same age...can't work out if it's because it's a different kid or because I'm a different person now and I cope differently. Hmmm

MM how are you going with your furniture decisions?

J is more clingy than L, i hope that means he's gonna be a super smartie :) we could do with some brains in this family LOL

cally- i'm so jealous of you living only 400m from the beach, i would be swimming all the time in summer! you're so lucky, it's very relaxing being near water i think.

mp- what is your new house like? do you love it?

md- feeling a little better today, boob is still really sore though. recovery seems to be taking a lot longer this time than last time i had it. thanks for checking up on me, makes me feel loved :) fingers crossed this is my last time of having it.

L started soccer yesterday morning and loved it! he didn't really understand it all, but had a great time anyway. look out beckham

I am off for my ultrasound this arvo and all of a sudden I am very nervous!!

MD - As for the furniture, back to square one. Not taking the Jarrah bed. Just keeping the toddler bed awhile longer and getting a new white single down the track.
