Leanne - good luck with the school thing - yes it is a bit fraught isn't it, it's like when you go for a new job and you have an idea of what it will be like but you don't actually find out until you're committed! I can't believe you're jetting off to the US (again!) Getting a taste for it, aren't you :lol:

Suz, good on your for lashing out on some mascara and well done on your weight loss. What else have you been doing besides the Wii Fit?

MP - H seems to be going well at school - she got a really good set of grades for her Gold Rush projects (all As) so I think she finally understands what the difference is between a good mark and an average mark in terms of effort and attention to detail. I have the presence of mind and energy most days now to scrutinise her homework. Socially she has settled into a more fixed group of friends and they are all nice girls.

AFM - saw my dr today and the good news is blood work shows no insulin/sugar issues...bad news is my hormones are on the low side. It was mad in there today (I think they were dealing with an emergency because they are *never* running that late) so I didn't have time to question her about whether that can just be a temporary thing or if it's a sign that ovaries are shutting down. :( Either way I feel fully justified for being a moody cow last week :p.

Wooo Suz on the weight loss. I have been hoping on the Wii lots lately too.

Trill poor A how was he last night? Yeah the Dr gave me a script, have to get it filled today. Though he seemed fine last night so not sure weather to wait and see? Poor little thing has lost his voice, nice and quiet here though lol.

MD hopefully the hormones are just a temporary thing and not a sign of something more serious.

Both kids slept great last night with just one wake up each and both before midnight. Have lots to do today, my house is a mess and dad arrives on Sunday. One of my friends (who's belly I photographed a couple of weeks ago) is in labour so I am carrying my phone around every where lol. Have a great day!!

My little Crusty Demon is fine today - good night sleep and his normal self. Looking at it today it doesn't even seem that bruised now and the egg has gone down. I don't even think it will leave much of a scar either. DH is on nightshift atm so I took him to bed with me last night to keep a better eye on him JIC.

Yeah Suz, the redipred is a steroid to open their airways. There is another brand too that you can get with a slightly different name.

MD, I wonder if the treatment has sent you into an earlier than expected menopause? :hug: I hope it is only a temporary blip. That is wonderful news she scored such great marks! When he did it, I did think 'oh ****!' LOL, but I wasn't upset or panicky, probably too casual, but after dealing with Lindsay's accident that time, anything else is a breeze kwim?

Busy today - gotta make some biscuits to take to football tomorrow for the canteen and get an assignment done and submitted and then tonight the kids and I are off to Mums for tea because my sister goes home tomorrow.

trying to keep up but just jumping on when i can atm..
all is going ok.. going to see my grandparents on the weekend, its very cute coz they are super excited, we dont see them very often and when we do its usually only for a few hours so we are going down to spend the night with the kids so they can have some time with them.. my Nan is so excited she rang me up with the menu plan (she is a worrier lol and like to have everything very organised lol) anyways should be good..
first game of netball this weekend too gosh hope im fit enough, and hope i can squeeze into my skirt haha!!
do any of ur kids still not sleep through?? Asha is still waking up every night, usually crying and coming in with us, sometimes shes quite hard to settle, im pretty sure shes having nightmares but i really have no idea what i can do for her??
im also quite worried about William and his "asthma" we don't actually know if he has asthma yet but hes very prone to bronchiolitis and the dr said that's probably why.. my dr is away until Monday and i prob wont be able to get an appt till Tuesday because we will be travelling back from my grandparents house that day.. his cough is so awful tho and he just cant clear it, i know a bronchiolitis cough is suppose to last 4 - 6 weeks but its just awful.. does anyone know of any bubs starting ventolin or anything similar to help them at such a young age im worried we may need to..
everything else is going pretty well..

thanks for the birthday wishes! had a pretty lovely day. got spoilt which was a lovely surprise! DH bought me some DVDs, mum got me some beauty products, scored a lovely big phat candle, a handmade tealight holder and a gorgeous metalicus wool dress for winter. the only problem was that my mum sent Leila a YODELLING goat. yep. it must disappear....driving me bonkers.

Suz: yeah i had the mouse issue lol. havent seen them since, but my cat has been patrolling so am content ATM that we have averted disaster thanks to our 'mouser'. i even have put the bread back on the bench as my 'check' system LOL! not sure on what is the most humane way to go about it. but i reckon that Sherie's system of snapping the necks would be the fastest...pity i dont have the guts to do it :redface:

Sherie: oh deary me. that does sound like he came a good cropper on that pole. hope his head doesnt hurt too much today the poor wee poppet.

Oz: how is the croup going? how did you know he had it? was it the cough?? i have no idea! best wishes for your friend too, exciting times ahead!

MD: the hormone thing could even possibly be related to the stage of cycle that your at. some chicks really bottom out...i reckon it is worth follow up BTs and see if there is a change or not...

AFM: all okish here. DD got sent home late yesterday afternoon for diaorrhea. turns out upon questioning today (AFTER going to the GP and begging for an early appt where the GP couldnt find any symptom of illness etc and was confused why we were there) that she had done 4 dirty nappies during the day. now, Leila has been there for just over 2 years. she is (and i apologise for TMI) a serial pooer. admittedley i had stocked her up on sultanas on the monday for the car ride...yes, i havent learnt my lesson...but seriously, there is a difference between 'loose' and diaorrhea IYKWIM. she looks fine, eating well and playing hard and sleeping even better. just annoyed that they made a big broo ha ha about it then backtracked today when i brought her in. (this is coming from the same carer that publicly -in front of other parents - stated that she thought a worm had come out of leila's vagina...:o turns out it is the skin flap that she has had since birth...so yeah, i am hesitant to believe everything the carer says LOL!). urgh. i know they need to be vigilant on contagious things, but a bit of sensitivity would go a long way...

sorry for the vent!

cassius - have u spoken to the director about that carer? seems she needs a lesson in confidentiality and well just basic social behaviour!! you never talk infront of other parents especially if its something that may be a bit sensitive!! id put in a complaint if i were you, she may just not realise what shes doing and it might fix it completely.. either way i think she needs to be pulled into line!

Noni - sorry, can't help with the asthma thing. DD doesn't sleep through, we can have 1-3 wakeups a night. Sometimes she wakes up all upset and comes running out to our room, sometimes she is just sitting on her bed crying, other times she just stands outside our door 'sneaking up on us' and if we call out her name she comes running in laughing. She generally goes back to bed with just a cuddle, sometimes she needs new books to read in bed. We did have a lot of issues with her at the end of last year with waking up and we got into a bit of a habit of hopping into the spare bed with her, but that's over now thankfully. Have a great visit with your grandparents.

Cass - that carer does sound a bit weird. As for the pooing, fair enough to let you know there were lots of poos, but they really should know she is a frequent pooer by now! Glad the birthday was good.

Trill - glad that A is ok. Aren't country hospitals great for the quick turnaround, we've been in and out of ours with K is that sort of time frame before and it's wonderful. Although, if you don't happen to get the doctor it can be a bit painful....

MD - good news on the sugar levels, hope you can get some more info on the hormones.

suz - WTG on the weight loss!

My parents have come down for a couple of nights. They are looking after K today and visiting the botanic gardens (and the dam - we have a tantrum everytime we drive past and don't look at it...) All of us are heading out for Chinese tonight which will be nice. That is of course if DH is still awake - silly boy, came to bed at 3 last night doing work stuff.

Noni: hmm the asthma thing does sound a worry. what's the earliest age that they can make informed diagnosis? he might be experiencing a situational asthma (like he might only ever experience when sick itms). :pray: that it isnt too serious and that he can kick the bronchiolitis real quick. poor wee man.
hope that you have a lovely time with your grandparents and that they get in loads of cuddles with the kids. make sure to take heaps and heaps of photos. they are precious moments xx

Cally: hope you have a lovely time with your parents in town. mmmm i so want chinese food right now lol! yum. what did you get??!! i need to live vicariously through you as DH really doesnt like chinese cuisine.

AFM: well after all my umming and ahhing about getting a double pram or not and then deciding to hold out and wait...DH went out to baby bunting to buy a 'maxi rider' for DD...and also bought a frikkin P&Ts 'Dash'. brand new. he reckons he got it at a good price, ($600) but still... that's a load of cash...i am flummoxed.

Since making him have a 7pm bedtime he's been doing it a lot less. Sorry, I don't know anything about Asthma and that sucks that you have to wait until Tues to see your Dr. Poor William, 4-6 weeks of coughing is just awful, there must be something they can do?

Cass - I've had the 'sultana' issue here too. Lucky for us our FDC lady was pretty good with the poo and would just tell me if she thought Craig was doing more than usual. She was also good at making sure she didn't talk to me about anything sensitive in front of the other parents. That carer sounds like a weirdo and I agree with Noni that it's worth making a complaint! I'd be angry too if I'd tried to get a Dr's appt when it wasn't The Runs. Give your mouser a pat for me. I used to have Great Danes (both passed away now) and one of them was a great mouser. Funniest thing you've ever seen!
Just saw your post about the pram situation. :o That's a good price, but he could have phoned you first. Mind you, I do wish I bought a P&T's as my Swallow Beema has no toddler options and DS1 isn't really keen on the maxi-rider. But the sling and the pram combo is working fine for me ATM.

Trill - Thanks for that, I can't remember the name of the one they gave me for Craig but it really did the trick. Glad to hear A's already on the mend. Kid's are tough aren't they?

MD - Hope you get to find out the cause of the low hormones and if it's temporary. ATM, I'm only doing Wii Fit and walking (toddler in pram, baby in carrier). In a week or so (if I wake up early enough), I'm going to start going for a 4-5km run in the mornings. The trick is to get up before DH and the kids ;)

AFM - Nothing really to report here. Anyone got any tips on getting a BF'd baby to take a bottle? Or about moving from the potty to the toilet?

Big day yesterday, we went out to a medieval festival for the day, lots of fun & gorgeous autumn sunshine had by all. Missy E managed ok without a sleep but predictably was a bit on the cranky side today & rewarded me with a lovely pants poosplosion, which with a complete lack of poo-wrangling skills on my part lead to an extended toilet-bathroom-change-table-laundry cleaning spree afterwards :wall:.

I'm having trouble corralling DD1 into her early-term project work :whip:, they have to read 4 Colin Thiele books & do all this stuff about them and so far she has picked the longest hardest book (with the greatest yawn-factor) and - no surprises - is only 10 pages into it. ARGH I feel like history is repeating and I don't know if I can withstand 7 more weeks of riding her back about it :wall:. I have politely but helpfully pointed out that she should rummage around in the box of books and find the shortest books that will take the least time to read - astonishingly given her track record for shirking this hadn't occured to her at all :lol:.

back from a lovely weekend.. my grandparents were so excited and really greatful we came down, they got to spend lots of time with the kids, my nan planned all these things to do like going to the park and the beach etc and the kids were really well behaved and just lapped up the attention.. all was really nice and im really glad we went you could just tell it really made their year iykwim..
i ended up having to take William to the dr on the friday because he was wheezing, theyve put him on ventolin, he said every 4 hrs until the cough he currently has has cleared but i felt that was really more than he needed.. atm hes having it morning and night and it is helping, seeing our usual dr tmw to go over it all with him and see how he feels about it as i would have thought if it really is asthma it would be better to have him on some sort of preventative inhaler instead of just the ventolin but not sure how it all works at this age, will be good to go over it with someone i feel more comfortable with..
as for netball it was a good game, we ended up winning but were down by a fair bit half time.. the skirt fit but its VERY tight and i do want to order a new one haha..
had a shocking night last night, both kids were up all through the night and then asha decided she wanted to get up and eat at 4am!! im soooo tired! poor billy is getting 4 teeth at once so its all chaos here especially after all the driving!
anyways best be off we have swimming this morning and i havnt even started getting ready yet eeek..

Suz1: hmmm no great tips on the bottle thing. DD had just weaned and we were at a loss for night time bed routine (she used to get boob before going to bed). by that stage we were able to 'tell' her that there was milk in a bottle ITMS. TBH i wish i hadnt of bothered LOL! it was REALLY hard getting her to drop it and we only managed in late october last year (when we moved house and instituted new bed routine).

AFM: all good here. Leila is really blossoming into a gorgeous happy girl. she has the mightiest temper, but (and you can remind me of this later when i am tearing my hair out), i *kinda* like it LOL! i mean i don't like that she tantrums like a banshee but i do like that she is really able to let us know what it is that is her bug bear. the tantrums have been slightly easier to deal with lately in the sense that we are able to give her choices regarding her choice to tantrum. most of the time she will stop (say, if i tell her that it's ok if she cries and yells, but it's not much fun and we can't go the playground), and then on the times that she decides she needs to let it all out the decision is also made in that we stay/go home/go outside....actually the go outside and cry one is great LOL! (i tell her again that it is okay if she cries but i dont really want to hear her yelling and being rude, so if she wants to be rude she can go in the backyard and yell there :ROFL:).

Back from holiday. It went really well. W had an absolute ball with his grandparents. Even all the traveling went alright, despite our flight being delayed for 3 hours yesterday. I even got to do a day trip to Dunedin which was great.

For some reason DH let W watch a plane crash show on telly, so he was providing some nice calming thoughts on the plane: Before take-off - "there are birds in the engine! They are still there! Birds! In the engine!", then as we were getting airborne - "we are going to land in a river!", and my personal favourite - "we are going to CRASH, and the plane will go on FIRE" lol.

Clare, IKWYM about the blossoming. W is getting a bit of humor now, not so matter-of-fact. Some of the things he says are just so adorable.

hey everyone! I have been totally self absorbed lately and reading and not posting.

All is well. Evel Kinevil's head is mended - the scab fell of yesterday and it will leave hardly a scar, just a thin line thankfully but it will be a bit red for a while. he thought he was awesome yesterday because he caught a locust but it was HUGE! It was just over 3 inches long and the average plague locust only grows to just over 1 inch. He has it in a jar and takes it with him everywhere LOL.
