well i camwe home and the SC chicken casserole was done and DELISH! boys wolfed it down, it is so perfect for littlies as so tender..
I had a bite or 2 and YUMMO. WAhen DH is done with putting N down we will eat and I cant wait! a SC convert!!! watch this space for all my SC ideas (whether you want them or not LOL - well I will keep them to the cooking section mainly I guess so I dont bore everyone!)

MD, I have a whole heap of clothes that I should look through and pass on but they are my little tiny baby clothes! The tangible proof of how tiny they were! I just can't do it yet lol
Ginger, glad the open day went well. I have been taking W to kindy once a week for the last couple of months. He is enrolled to start as soon as he turns 3, two days a week to start with the option of going 4 days if he takes to it well. He keeps saying that he wants to go without me so I think we might manage to do this drama free!
MP, we had slow cooker beef roast today and it was fantastic! So easy, just threw it in before we left the house this morning. Have I told you about A's disproportionate head? She is 90th percentile for height and weight and her little pea head doesn't make the chart lol
Cally, if W wakes up that early (and A is still asleep) I give him a snack, play a dvd and go back to bed!
Sleep: A seems to be adjusting well to cuddles instead of feeding - first night she fussed for about 5 minutes the first couple of times, last night she was perfectly fine with a cuddle until 5.30am when she wanted a feed but I think she would have been genuinely hungry by then. W carried on for DH for about an hour the first night, then about 10 minutes last night. Got up at 4am but DH had to deal with that lol
Tonight at dinner W looked intently at DH for a few moments and then said "you have some nose candy coming out, would you like a tissue?" lol, the boy has no tact at all!

I am home today with J - he had sticky eye yest, it isnt gooey today but he was unsettled all night so thought I would go to the DR in case and give him a day at home with me...
Arte - LOL at A's pea head!!! I know it is all in the realms of normal - btu I am a worrier! My mind is at ease though...
Hard to find clothes for long and thin though. his pants are all either huge in the waist or too short... I remember Sherie used to go to PP for A bc of this so may try that too.

MD - The main issue with making friends is actually finding them in the first place. Because I am in a pretty male dominated field there aren't many females I deal with. Everyone at the gym seems to know everyone already and that's about my only opportunities. Also, DH can be a bit of a snob sometimes and can be a bit particular about people - which makes it hard as well as I'd really like us to get some more couple friends but he's difficult about it. I'm hoping that as K gets a bit bigger I will get more opportunities to meet mums.
Sales, are there sales at the moment? I miss the shops.....

MP: i will also be stalking your recipes...i have a few that i do, but i couldnt actually be able to write the recipe down 'cause i tend to just make it up as i go LOL! but you're right, i find L LOVES whatever we cook in there and eats about 3 bowls lol.
Cally: we have the opposite affliction in my field (international media policy) mostly chicks...and chick politics lol! nah, actually they aren't too bad but i reckon when there isnt enough gender balance it can make for slightly mono relations ITMS (gosh, i sound like some fluesy needing male attention lol!).
Arte: sounds like some progress with the routine so far! there's bound to be bumps, but as long as you know that they can do it, it makes it easier to stick to itms. and totally agree that the 5.30am feed was prolly warranted in that this is a change for her and her tummy clock will take a bit of time to adjust xx
AFM: well, you know they say bad things happen in threes? well we had the second crap thing happen last night....BIG tree fell onto our bedroom! by some miracle the POWER line stopped the tree from falling through but the house has some external damage...not to mention the power line lol. so at like 10pm i am calling council and they come out, then they call SES, then they come out, then the power company and their cherry picker come out...takes about 4-5 hours last night to bring the tree down (it was threatening to bring down more power lines and the neighbours house - and of course the wind and rain decided to visit...poor guys, it was FREEZING). nothing like the sound of chainsaws at midnight to know you're alive lol. and then all this morning they were back chainsawing it away...my poor tree (it was one of those nature strip ones). our house looks naked now lol!
anyway, best be off, must pack xx
cass- oh no! you poor thing, i can't believe a tree fell on your new house! we get so worried about that here. we have about $10k worth of trees we need to get cut down, as soon as we have enough spare $.
well would you believe, i went to a play centre today to catch up with some friends. one of them tells us that her ds has been really 'off' all week, but they don't know what's wrong with him. running a temp, not sleeping, not eating and basically just being a horror...so we get home this arvo and sure enough, L has been whinging non stop, saying he feels sick, running a temp, not eating and generally miserable. i am absolutely livid. why do people do this?
Clare, OMG, so glad that no one was in the path of the tree! What a pain though, I hope it is all fixed up by the time you get back
Cally, I have the same problem with making friends, everyone here knows everyone already and it is hard to break into the groups. My DH is a friend picking snob as well! Makes a hard job harder!
Ginger, I was silently furious when the lady at mothers group was telling us of her kids illness but had brought them to mothers group anyway - was thinking of boycotting everything out of the house for the winter because I just can't be bothered with sick kids! But then I realised I would rather have the risk of sick kids than the certainty of bored stircrazy kids lol. I hate hate hate sickly kids coughing away right where my kids are going to be exposed to their germs.

Arte- i am so pleased the settling is going ok. How was last night? I found it takes about 2-3 nights and they always regress when they get sick.
Cally- I found that at the gym too, people can be a bit clicky. :rolleyes: But after a while, people started talking to me. Not that i made any friends as such, but at least they were friendly. You will definitely start meeting more mum's when K starts kinder and things.
MP- i chuck my meant in raw sometimes. Like MD says it does enhance the flavor a bit and makes it look nicer, but the food tastes great without doing it. I found a pretty good SC group on facebook with lots of recipes. check it out.
A very lovely friend (who i miss lots) sent me a little pressie yesterday. Our friends arrived for 2 weeks and they bought over a BB lanyard for me! The lovely G sent it to my friend to bring over. :D
We're off to Madang for the weekend, the beach. wop wop! Can't wait, better go pack.

I hate seeing coughing visibly unwell children...STAY AT HOME until you're better!! Same goes for adults too, though sometimes we all have to attend to the bare necessities of life when we're below par. I've been to kindergym a couple of times when a parent has been there with an older, school aged child in their PJs ??? Cos they're too sick to go to school it's ok to bring them to kindergym??? Ok so not every illness is contagious but still...???

Sorry I've been slack on here...its been great still brushing up against most of you through facebook but I've been shocking about coming on here. I usually feel that I have not much to say (especially compared to the lovely beads of wisdom that can often be found amongst our group) and even less time to catch up with all thats been written. I'm often on the computer but usually for 5-10 min stints only.
I can't even remember the last time I was on here so will give a brief (or as brief as I can get it seeing as a blabber on sometimes lol) overview of whats been going on with me.
I'm currently just shy of 32 weeks preggers with another little girl! :cheer:Due on the 9th August and will most likely be birthing in Ipswich again. DH moved us out to Emerald at the beginning of June and although I was against the move, it ends up being the best thing for the family. Financially we just couldn't thrive in Bundy. DH was working out here anyway and coming back for a weekend every fortnight and with bubs coming that just wasn't an option to continue. Emerald is about a 6 hour drive from Bundy and then theres another 5 hours to get into Ipswich from there so I am really down about being so far from family. We know no one out here and I'm having to build a base from scratch. The house is still not completely unpacked so the nursery looks like a bomb site. I haven't really prepared anything for her arrival due to being so flustered by having to pack and move by myself. DH did the actually transport of our stuff out here but it was up to me to pack and clean etc.
Now that thats out of the way, I've got to get my head around the birth. I've got my mum and sister adament that I was coming down to them in Ippy to birth but I'm concerned with the fact that DH might miss the birth. Then went for my first hospital visit up here to be told that they don't (or can't) do VBACs, staffing issues etc. So unless I want to schedule in a c/s then I've got to look elswewhere. (Keeping in ind that the closest hospital that could handle it would be Rocky 3 hours away. So the only real option seems to be heading down to Ipswich to wait out the birth and hope that DH makes it in time to be present. I'm even looking into inductions so that we can time it better. Thankfully because Emerald is such a big mining town they have flights coming in and out often so theres a good chance that he'll make it. Also, considering that this would be like a first labour (due to not progressing with Sarah then her fetal distress) chance are it won't be a quick labour anyhow. It's all just so frikken annoying, too many decisions. Then, of course, theres the whole 'where does Sarah go when I'm in labour and recovering?' issue. If I'm in Ipswich then I have family there to watch her whereas up here, theres nothing.
Oh and the latest news is that they may be shutting down Emerald maternity unit with the next couple of weeks...woohoo! Which sort of makes the where to birth issue a moot point but doesn't instill confidence if I go early. :o
Anyhoo...DH and I are learning to live together full time again and are coping well even with my preggo hormones lol. I'm seriously missing some decent shops, they don't even have Aldi, Kmart, Big W or Best n Less out here and the Target is a Target country. Thankfully I stocked up before leaving Bundy (and got in a good shop in Ipswich whilst visiting there a few weeks back also) I should be fine to save money out here seeing as there is nowhere to spend my dosh...but it may mean a massive splurge when I do hit a decent town lol.
Sarah is doing really well...her speech has picked up massively in the last coupla months. Shes coming up with absolute corkers now and her imagination is astonishing. Her eating is not the best, she seems to have just a few nibbles before taking off again and then grazing thru the day. Sleeping is good, has a few wakeups but is easy to settle. I'm finding it hard to get her into care up here as there is just nothing around. I'm wanting family day care again but its a very slack system up here and very hard to get answers out of them. I've gotta pull my finger out to look at one of the centres, Sarah needs the time away from me as much as I need time to myself. Doesn't help that the new house we are in doesn't have landscaping finished yet so I can't kick her outside to play.
Okay...*****...just realised that I've typed out a novella for you all and that I didn't warn in advance. Sorry for the monologue :doh:

my Oma passed away on Friday...pretty devastated to say the least. I will be only on the net here and there for the next week as the funeral is not until next Friday (long weekend makes things tricky).

Kate, we live in a crappo small town with no shops but it doesn't save you any cash - you are right about the big spend up that happens when you get near actual shops. Is your DH having time off around the birth? If you manage to have bub around your due date will he be in Ipswich anyways? Talk of Ipswich hospital makes me nostalgic! I had my little baby boy there. I will always remember his first ever trip outside into the big wide world - right past all the patients out for a smoke lmao!
MD, you reminded me of another hate - if people are too sick to get dressed then they are too sick to leave the house!! Grrr, that annoys me that people can manage to load themselves into the car and drive somewhere but are too sick to pull on a pair of pants?? Come on!
MP, for beef roast I just put it in in the morning with a bottle of black beer and a packet of onion soup (actually french onion because I was feeling fancy lol) and left it all day.
Went to the 'city' today for lunch (McD's - WTF won't someone open somewhere decent to eat with a kids playground??) then went to the swimming pool - W had a blast! Was a good day, would have been a bit better if Miss A would sleep in the car - managed to stay awake an hour each way.
Do those of you with more than one bub find yourself comparing? I know I shouldn't, but A seems so slow compared to W. She is 9 months old now - was sitting just before 5 months but hasn't really made any milestones since. She isn't mobile at all yet and doesn't look close to it but W was already walking by now. I remember that at 10 months W was following instructions like get your jacket/xyz toy etc and he could make farm animal toys 'walk' along the ground, there is no way she will be able to do that in a months time. She just seem like such a....baby! Don't get me wrong, she is lovely but I can't help thinking she should be doing more by now. Or was W just freakishly early?

i do find myself comparing them sometimes, i think that's natural. J is far more advanced in terms of talking/comprehension. L is a lot bigger and taller. they're just different kids iykwim?

Arte, W was just very early at doing those things. If you looked it up, you'll find that A is still well within normal ranges for these things. I know it's hard not to compare but you do, not so much from a competitive point of view, but just that the first one gives you an 'idea' of when the next one should start doing things kwim? With my lot, It was the girls and A that started doing everything earlier than L did, except for talking because L, E and A were/are great talkers and P was behind. They all vary so much.
Kate it is so good to see you pop back in here! I'm glad that everything is going well for you too :hug: and ikwym about the shopping, we only have a target country here too but I am heading to Wagga tomorrow and hitting the myer sale LOL. I hope it all works out for the birth and he can make it and you get your VBAC.
not much happening here this weekend - kids have a bye from football/netball so it was good to stay in bed on Saturday morning instead of getting out early like we usually have to. Went out for dinner with friends on Saturday night and got home at 3am!! So we all slept in till after 9 yesterday. A is absolutely hilarious these days and makes us laugh so much. He is a real odd-bod too, not in a 'i think there is a problem' kinda way, but in a totally delightful way itms.
girls i'm bl33dy clucky again!!! someone help put on a lid on it for me quicksmart!!!
