talking of pricey, we just had a quote to get new blinds and curtains installed...$3.9K.... :o went with a small family business too...kresta et al were waaaay expensive-r. cant believe it.
MD: it's ok, you aren't expected to know it all yet :hug: i know that the nerves will come regardless but the first day is spent watching IT get your computer NOT ready, getting your ID photo done and generally meeting people and having them welcome you and show the ropes. you'll be totally shagged at the end of the day though...so maybe time to spoil yourself and get some nice takeaway for dinner that night...
arrgh, totally forgotten everything else...oh oh, Sherie, does A mind you taking to the loo like that? L is still so resistant unless she knows she needs to go. that said, she started a wee in her knickers and managed to stop herself and ask to go to the toilet :hooray: was so proud of her!
AFM: spent the morning shopping :redface: got a bikini and eyebrow wax today...omg, i guess i left the bikini wax too long as the poor girl was really struggling at one point :ROFL:!!! also i totally shamed myself by having my 'bubble' motif knickers on...i usually try to put on a nice pair for such exposing times....ahhh i am vague these days. also went the target toy sale. not much left at this stage, but managed to get a cinderella barbie for $17. she will love it. also went to myer and scored up BIG time! they were selling gorgeous metallic boleros (for kids) by 'origami' for $10! also got a pair of milkshake shoes for $10 and a lovely summer bonds baby dress for $5! they had gorgeous levi kids jeans too for $25!! (normally like $70). but none in leila's size...was tempted just to get the size 5 anyway though lol!
now i am tired beyond belief and need a nanna nap...
oh and we had our baby shower yesterday! it was lovely. i made all kinds of cakes and savoury baked goods. my dark chocolate sourcream ganache cake was a hit!

trill - thx for the reassurance on the tt. we had a few good talks to N about it on weekend and this morning he said he wanted to go to kindy in undies. will seehow that went. i have startted using ceam at every nappy chg etc (basically making it his worst nightmare) in the hopre he will hate it so muich he TTs... he knows what to do, the sensations etc, he just WONT!
well - this weekend we had mornings out and arvos at home and it went so well - everyone was more relaxed.. so DH has fully come around to my way of thinking on that one...
i made fresh pasta with N yest - so much fun!
Cass, his only complaint is that the toilet seat is cold :rofl: but other than that he doesn't mind. When I say lets go to the toilet, he says no, but he will still sit there and do his business LOL so he doesn't protest at all, its more that he doesn't want me to interrupt what he's doing :rolleyes: IKWYM about buying up clothes in advance, but I just can't justify it ATM. I love Myer sales though, they are always better than everywhere else.
MP, what I did on the first day was get the potty out and tell him he could still sit and watch telly while he does it and he was happy with that :rolleyes: typical male! maybe you could try a similar approach with N?

the trees around here are ENORMOUS gums. had another quote today, she's gonna get back to me but i liked her heaps better anyway so will most likely go with her.
md- you will be so awesome tomorrow, don't worry :) everyone will love you. i usually remember names by thinking of someone else i already know with the same name and picturing their face, then when i see the new person next i see the person i already know's face and then i know their name!

I ended up finding something for the little girls - I got them a little Pearl bracelet, with sterling silver clasp. I've just recently started wearing pearls myself - I got a necklace that was my Grandma's, so i treasure it.

MP, that website is Reading Eggs. Dumb name and I can't figure out what the eggs are for but it is quite good besides that lol. W really like it but I have only managed to do it twice with him because A hates being in the office and I usually use her nap time to get other stuff done so I will try again in a couple of months and hopefully A will be happier to play in here.
Cass, for blinds try ABC Express, I have used them before and they were cheap and good. Just fill in the dimensions on the website and it gives an instant quote. For curtains, Spotlight have a magic curtain range which are premade, you just need to hem the sides and bottom to suit your window. The range is a bit limited, but it is way cheaper - we were quoted $1500 to curtain two rooms - I got those done, an extra room and new rails for all for about $600 from Spotlight.
now that is a saving lol! problem is that i cannot sew and the length at spotlight arent long enough :wall: but the blinds could be an idea...am checking it out!:
oh and Papootie...i just googled my BB name and oh dear :redface: it is all porno!!! :o
Clare, we had the drop length problem too - that is why the quote was so expensive. But I found one sort at spotlight with a big enough drop - about 2.4m I think for our big extra height slider doors. They didn't have the colours I wanted, but I compromised (ie got what they had lol) and it probably looks better than if I had been able to choose lol
ETA, you don't need to be able to sew either - I ironed the hem at the right length, then used a hemming tape which is basically double sided tape for fabric so you just stick it on and press together = easy
ohh the 2.4 should do it....wonder if they have it online to check out? *off to investigate...especially if no sewing involved LOL!*

Hi everyone, I'm very tired so I won't join in on all the scintillating blinds and curtains talk :lol: but I will say - fantastic first day, have already forgotten a couple of names but more than compensated for by the fact that I may have stumbled into my dream job (well ok....not highly likely but I'm sitting here smirking anyway because of the perfect alignment of my skills and the task at hand). :)

How do ya'll deal with the toddler who needs a day sleep, otherwise suffers from a meltdown of monumental proportions, but if she has one wont go to bed until 9.30-10pm? help! advice needed.
JM - two words - Early Bedtime. A will only have a day sleep probably once a fortnight now, maybe even less sometimes and by 7pm he is knackered and has a 7.30 bedtime, sometimes earlier and he is dead to the world in minutes. Maybe you could try bringing her bedtime forward and see if that helps?
