AFM: went to the BF clinic again today for marta. appears she has posterior tongue-tie. nothing too serious (fussiness and some attachment issues). to snip or not to snip that is the question.
then waiting at the lifts i bumped into a lady who was going home with her 2 day old baby....OMG. i was CLUCKY bahahahaha! i am so insane lol.
cass- i can't believe you're clucky!!!! if you're like me, you're ready to get utd one day then ready for dh to get the snip the next LOL
i choose to ignore lego and go with leo. he had a soft toy lion when he was little named leo that he loved so i think (hope) that's what he's saying. no more pets with stupid names around here, i'm over it!
going to the pub that Rush was filmed in tonight for romantic dinner with dh. no kidlets allowed.
do any of you guys still catch up with your mothers groups (if you had one)? if so, how often?
our mothers group meets weekly still. we formed as a playgroup and have hired a day at the local community cottage that runs on a term by term basis. we pay $15 each a term plus the fees for playgroup ($20ish a year). we also tend to meet up for things like girls nights out and this sunday one of the mums is turning the big 4-0 so we are off to that too...but we all love eachother so i guess that's why it's worked out well...(and it's a big group of 11 and we are all with our 2nd kids...some are still in the oven but yeah, so we'll have 22 kids :o).

oh and do any of you guys have experience with posterior tongue tie?? appears that Marta has it and i now face a decision of "to snip or not to snip"...

i can't believe how big your mothers group is!!! we tried the play group thing but some members weren't happy with it. what time do you have the community house (if you don't mind me asking) as this was one of the major issues.
we are having so much drama with my mg atm that i'm just about ready to walk away. i met up with one of the girls (the one who lives the closest to me and has 2 kids exactly the same age as mine) at the playground this morning for a coffee and play in the sunshine. one of the other girls heard about it and has absolutely cracked it that we met up 'behind peoples backs'. so over it all.
oh wow! man our group meets up with eachother behind all our backs all the time bahahaha! in fact i bumped into one of the girls DHs the other day when he was sitting in the front courtyard of the local pub...so i joined him for a light beer :rofl:
we have the community house for 2 hours from 10.30am to 12.30pm on tuesdays...then we all skive off to the local cafe for a couple of hours lol. the community house has a fenced off outdoor area that the kids go ballistic in and of course the inside part that has microwave, fridge and some toys etc. it's all very basic as we were the first to hire it out as a playgroup venue and slowly slowly we are building up the stocks in terms of toys/activities.
what werent they happy about with the playgroup thingy? ours is private and it just means that we are insured if something were to happen iykwim...
it sounds crazy that there would be that kind of jealousy. i mean sometimes i wish that i too lived closer to the other girls as i know that they meet up at other times to hit the park etc., but man, i would never feel 'cheated on' LOL!

it just started up as a casual 'wanna meet up for half an hour play in the morning?' sorta thing cos she (N)rang me to talk about kinder (L and her dd are in same class). then a couple of hours later another mg girl (M) rang me and asked if i wanted to do something tomorrow, told her i was already meeting up with N but she was welcome to come too if she liked.she decided she would like to come but that she would like to invite everyone else. when a certain other member got the invite, she was upset that we had originally even tried to go on our own iykwim? i am peeved that M even bothered to invite the rest of them, especially if they're going to react to the invite like that.
the community house thing didn't work as the only time we could get was 12-2. many of the younger ones needed to sleep at this time, but also people always turn up late at our mg (so like 1pm) and then get annoyed that they only got an hour of playtime when they had made the effort to come. soooooo annoying. sooooooo over it.
Ditch them, all they do is cause you grief. Who cracks it because someone meets up 'behind your back?! :wall:
You can meet up with whoever you like, whenever you like and no one should make you feel otherwise. It's all a bit childish really.
I think the socialisation for the kids at MG is the main advantage, especially if you're not really that close with the chicks. (Socialisation for mums is important too, but not if you don't like the people! ;) ) So as long as the boys are having plenty of play dates and socialising, you don't really need the added hassle you seem to cop.
Ginger, that is crazy! I don't think I get the playgroup thing over there - they seem like more trouble than they are worth. I am with JM, if it stresses you out then just dump it. You have lots of friends and you can still catch up with the MG ladies that you like.
Our mothers group is a local one, 10-12 every Thursday at a church hall. Has been going for years. Most of us are on to our second or third child, people drop away as their kids get bigger and new people start. There are about 15ish regulars that go with a general turnout each week of 8ish. We pay $2 each to cover the hall hire. People catch up outside of mother group all the time - because they are friends and that is what friends do! No one cares, there isn't an all or nothing rule for meeting up with MG members lol.
yeah well that's what i reckon too, it shouldn't be all or nothing when you meet up- it should just be whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like it.
i've pretty much put it out there now that i am out. over it. not interested.
i really hope i meet some new mums next year through kinder.

Cass, I have no idea about the tongue tie but I know it's something I used to hear about back in my ABA days so they might have some good info/advice for you about it.
I agree the mother's group thing is weird. Maybe that person is just socially immature? It does sound like something you would hear at high school :lol:
There again I'm not really one to talk, I have never really understood the finer machinations of groups of women like that...except ABA which was run in a structured way - and I stopped wanting to go there once I knew my boob was getting the chipchop...I work better one-on-one.
yeah i know i always have you guys :) but it's good for the kids to have some social interactions too especially as they're not in cc at all. i talk to you guys much more about what's really going on in my life though iykwim?
yeah it's high school all over again except that none of us smoke and i definitely don't have a hot biology teacher named mr playne anymore.

Well I got a clean bill of health today - and man was that hospital sandwich good at 2pm when the last solid food was Wednesday night! Although the pizza tonight was pretty good too. I think DD was a bit disappointed I didn't come home with pictures of my bottom though....
My biology teacher was an old lady and I swear she used to nod off and drool up the front during tests.

i prob shouldn't say too much on a public forum, but i think there are some major issues going on with my mg. luckily i think kinder next year will divide us all up a bit, as the kids are all splitting up and going to different places on different days.
oh and did i mention that my kinder already tried to rope me in to being the president???? no thanks! i agreed to being a committee member but that's more than enough for me. i'm a lady of leisure these days!
going to pick up our new kitty today :)
oh and thinking we might take the boys to the aquarium tomorrow to see the sharks!!!! j loves fish so he should have a ball.

our biology teacher was too into his 'biology' and got two girls in my year pregnant :o. it was insane and, when it all came out that he was DTD with both of them there was this massive cliche cat fight in the english rooms...like face scratching and all. he got D-listed.

MD: too true. this group is my source of true MG stuff. i feel a much stronger connection with this group than the IRL one. i guess because here we can share stuff without the distraction of a million kids running around under our feet and the reality is that i get to chat with you guys everyday! which is awesome for someone like me that doesnt have a wide circle of friends and family.
Arte: hopefully she shaved though...hairy pits can be a bit much lol.
G: i'm with JM on this one. just meet up with the girl you like and blow the rest to the wind. it aint worth it. and in the end you dont really want your kids hanging out with anything too toxic...even if the toxicity is from the parents.
AFM: busy busy busy here. we have a birthday party this afternoon. leila is busy 'wrapping' all her toys lol. we also had a builder in as we are putting up a wall for a 3rd bedroom, knocking a wall to make an open plan kitchen/living/dining and replacing some rotten floorboards. i am pretty excited!!
Leila gave Marta another present of the booger variety. so we have a somewhat cranky baby...but she is still cute even with boogers down her face lol!

No I think they've done it that way specifically to foil the would-be scalpers. No I don't think there will be any giveaways, too big of an audience, not enough tax breaks back home in the US LOL. Basically each person who registers can nominate a guest. But only the person who registers can collect the tickets in person in Sydney. So you can't ask people who have no intention of going to register and nominate you as their guest just to get more spots in the ballot, kwim? I think I read 3000 Ginger, not sure if that's 3000 in each show (x2 shows) or 3000 all up or 3000 is just an imaginary number in my head. The latter being reasonably possible.
ETA - how's Leo the Love Lion settling in?

G, I hope the MG stuff sorts itself out. Women like that tend to gravitate towards other women like that so hopefully you wont have to worry about it anymore. I had to laugh at you being asked to be president. When the older 3 went through I held committee roles and gave up in P's last year so I could just enjoy her last year and I got asked the other day if I was going to go back to it and I said no way! There is a real nasty piece of work running the show now and I think I would kill her if I was on a committee with her LOL and I'll be far too busy anyway.
Well I enrolled A in preschool the other day and at this stage it looks like it will be a Friday. Would have preferred Monday, but with places being tight I had to take what I could get. Apparently they are running a 3rd class for the older 3yo's - ie the ones that will turn 4 early next year - and that has eased the pressure on getting a place. During footy season it will be full on though - training thursday, preschool Friday and then football Saturday. but it'll be fine, it's not like I have kids younger than A otherwise I'd go mental LOL. But at this time of year it will be perfect because Little A's is on Friday arvo's.

Cass, lol at the preg girl chick fight! My DH's favourite teacher, the guy that inspired him to learn guitar and is probably the reason that he became a chemist was outed a few years back for shagging one of his student - a 15 year old at that. DH was gutted!
This is the third night in a row that A has gone to bed at 10.30pm. I seriously drew the short straw with sleep problems. That girl just doesn't seem to need any! She has two naps during the day, usually 20-40 minutes each and then sleeps around 10-11 hours at night with half a dozen resettles. I am thinking of putting her in a big bed, I think I might have more luck getting her into bed at the start of the night - atm I feed her to sleep in the lounge and then she wakes when I try to put her in the cot = up for another 3-4 hours. Sooooo not having any more kids! Every time I start to think maybe we have yet another patch when one or the other or both just won't go to sleep! Good birth control lol

Well it seems like teacher-student liaisons are pretty big..there was one at our school too, it all came out when the student got pregnant, can't remember what subject he taught, but it was a catholic school so I think there was a hasty wedding. I did end up meeting the student concerned about 3 or 4 years later, when she was a washed up single mother desperately trying to scrape her patchy education together and make a go of uni (not very well sadly). No one's a winner.
It will all work out fine with the preschool day, and he'll be another 6 months older by then too so it wont be a drama as such. Just have to make sure the first half of the week isn't busy.

Well we never had any big teacher scandals like that at our school. By the time I'd finished yr12 in '95 there hadn't even been a teen pg at school for 10 years. But then we were only a tiny Central School (K-12) so we just didn't have that type of exposure kwim? But in West Wyalong, the next town to us, there was a teen pg every year and there was a teacher that was sleeping with some of the students while his wife who also worked at the school was totally oblivious. The closest we came to scandal was when the teacher we had in yrs 11 and 12 for PE married one of the girls in my class when they'd hooked up about 18 months after we'd all left school. I still think it's weird mainly because they were polar opposites in the things they liked etc.

Our dodgy biology teacher had an affair with the dux of the school who is now a GP. He was disgusting. She was obviously in need of a little lovin! :spew: It all came out the year after we finished.
See, we never even had any sleazy teachers. Most of them were all local anyway, and the only ones that came in as 'fresh meat' were pretty good. The PE teacher was good because he loved Pearl Jam and he was only first year out too, so not a lot older than us and he was good to get along with. One of the other ones was a science/woodwork teacher and he was pretty highly strung but still OK and the other one was married with a baby on the way and he was an absolute gentleman. He was one of those blokes that you could imagine taking off his coat and laying it across the mud for a woman to walk across so her dress didn't get muddy.
OH and how's DH's form - last night I boiled some eggs to mash for sandwiches for him and the kids today and I knew he'd made himself egg sandwiches because I got up to go to the loo when he was up getting ready for work and saw him making them, but when I get up to get the kids ready for school and go to get the egg out, there was no egg. They weren't anywhere in the fridge, so I looked in the beer fridge to see if he'd put it in there - not there either. So I rang him at work and asked him what he'd done with it because it was 6 eggs worth of mashed egg, so not a small amount LOL and he'd taken it with him! He'd had a total brain fart and just put the container in his crib-bag as well as his egg sandwiches and took it to work. Force of habit I suppose because it was a rock'n'serve tupperware container that I often put leftovers in for his lunch and he said he was a bit tired this morning and just wasn't thinking. So the kids had to take crappy old vegemite sandwiches LOL.

My school was rather scandel free too. We did have a biology and english teacher (both female) hook up, they were two of my favourite teachers and made a nice couple.
Trill, bummer about your DH stealing the eggs. My DH did that with a container of fudge - W was upset when I went to get him a promised piece and realised that DH had taken then entire container. Seriously, who takes 30 pieces of fudge to work?

i *think* Isadora is the baby of our group?? i graduated from highschool in 2000. and i think Isa was the year or maybe two after me??? i'm the baby in our IRL MG too, which sometimes makes it feel weird as they all have quite 'big people' careers and the big paychecks that go with it lol. i'm just jealous cause my good friend from MG has a bang and olufsen TV. but i could never pay $20,000 for a tv lol.
