AFM: well it is only 9am and already we have had a tantrum and a paint fest...i am on my own today while DH is off at soccer...in the *off* season lol.
JM, no begging yet...BUT...in a nearly wetting-myself-with-excitement development, I learnt today that you can drill right down in google analytics to town level...and someone in Chicago visited my site and viewed it for a whole 19 minutes!!! It could be some random, or it could be someone in the O machine taking a look...gosh I'm stupidly excited just at the thought of it being READ by the intended audience.

Ginger I'm not sure if it was an Oprah retraction? I heard NSW tourism sent an email out congratulating people but it went ot everone and not just the winners, so that got retracted.

The other definitely less exciting news was I had my surgical review yesterday, and they told me after they pulled the infusaport out they cultured STAPH from it...UGH that thing was connected to a blood vessel leading directly to my HEART. The incision has been really sore this week, so I came straight home and cashed in an AB script.
No, just a regular garden variety (skin microflora) BUT when i came home and googled it's been implicated in endocarditis...um NOT reassuring ! But the dr was at pains to tell me if it was going to be a problem I would have been very sick weeks ago. But I'll feel more relieved when the surg site isn't hurting any more.
I think I've just seen too many stories of things going wrong in my BC travels...one lady I know had a funky patch of skin after her recon, they surg'd it off few weeks later and it turns out it was GANGRENE . Positively medieval...
He is right though if Staph had gone wild and funky inside incision and spread you'd be pretty crook by now. The reality is that staph is everywhere, on everything all the time. Make sure you take all those ABs though and straight to dr if you get a fever or anything funky. Was the gangrenous tissue a graft that didn't work or it jus got damaged? When Dh had his thumb chopped off and they tried to reattach it, it died and went gangrenous. Blergh!
Yeah, it was actually gangrene, but a dry (non poisonous sort). She had an implant recon so it wasn't a graft. I think it happens when the blood supply is compromised, and the blue sentinel node dye has been implicated in blood vessel damage. She didn't know better to ask to get it reviewed when it went from pink to white then black.
Really? The sentinel node dye can do that? Yikes. I've been to many sn sugeries doing the radioactive part. Maybe they should rely on the radioactive colloid instead of the blue dye then?!
Oh WOW MD!!! Surely that isn't just a coincidence that someone from Chicago just happened to be reading your blog about getting your fine self a meeting with Oprah. And I was going to say that if it were bad, you'd definitely be sick by now, so it was a relief to read further and find out it was OK. But at the same time it is a big worry
