Hugs to all of you are remembering Lulu today.
Yes I second oz. Wish I could be there for lulu too.
MD, haven't seen you around - is everything alright in your part of the world?
it was beautiful guys. Just gorgeous to see those balloons in the sky...
Leila cried to see them flying away. I think the emotion was heaps to handle for the poor wee poppet. she told me that she doesnt want Lucy to fly away :(
Cass, I'm so pleased for you that you were able to be there. And I can imagine it would've been quite overwhelming for some of the little ones who can be quite empathic without realising where the strong emotion is coming from.
:grouphug: for everyone today who has been remembering Lulu, and especially Ange and Trill and Ginger. xxx
There was a small balloon ceremony here in Adelaide but I didn't feel like I could do it. I had a mini virtual balloon release instead out there in blogsville...it seemed fitting since this is the space I knew her in, and because she blog-rolled my Oprah blog I wanted to acknowledge that connection too..
Arte, yes thanks, all good in my world...I think I've been a little quieter than usual out of deference for the grieving that is going on. Had a little woohoo the other day when I woke up and realised my lurgie was getting better WITHOUT a trip to the dr and three rounds of antibiotics :cheer: But to get to that point I had to rest a bit more than usual. Plus Trill had me hard at work proofreading the other day. I missed my calling as an English teacher . How are you feeling, starting to feel sick? Ride that ginger if you can. xxx
Trill are your kids back to school next week? We still have a week of hols to go which is good because I haven't shopped for new school shoes yada yada yet. Ladies enjoy this time before your little ones start school!
Ange, how are you going now you're back? I can understand why the seeming lack of movement has you worried, maybe it's just a little too early. Will you be having an US while you are here? Might be a good idea, just to provide you with that reassurance.
I'm just checking in, still in Sydney. Hope everyone is doing ok. Thanks for being such good friends xo
hi girls!
MD: WTG on the battle against lurgy! that is a massive woo hoo i reckon (from someone that was on a AB train for awhile there...). have you been watching the Oprah specials? man, it looked like fun...although the shows did look a *bit* rushed...what do you think??
G: sheesh man, your MIL is impressively crazy. not much of a 'holiday', more a 'hell-iday' lol. can't wait to catch up on the 4th :leap:
AFM: all good here today. we bought a new sofa bed from King furniture today. we have decided that a mattress on the floor is not the best option for visiting family (especially as they seem to stay ages lol). so that was a big lot of $$ to part with. mild panic attack lol.
ALSO, i have posted my birth montage! have it on FB...i have posted a link on here in the HB discussion, but not sure how long it will last as i *think* it will be classified as to a commercial site...must work out how to change that...
Hello all, now that I am at home 24/7 I have time for BB!!!
Clare - I saw your montage it made me cry, so special.
Ginger - I agree your MIL is out of control! Did you let her know you arent happy about what she has done? I noticed from FB you are in Sydney, bet you cant wait to get away from the in laws hehe.
JM - When is your next appt with your dr? That will help ease your worries. I'm sure all is fine though. Maybe its a boy!!?
Just a quick hello from me, but I have no excuse not to keep up to date with Sept belly buddies now!
Hey everyone! Just a quicky to let you know I'm having myself banned for a week. I'm feeling a bit detached from here lately so I need some time out. It's nothing at all to do with you guys at all - you're my peeps LOL. But I'll still be on FB :)
i have not the willpower to self ban lol! see you in a week babe xx
Isadora: how are you going??! so awesome to see you in here  thanks for watching my montage! i made it the other night as i loved loved loved watching other ppls, so decided to do one for myself :)
MD: have you seen that Oprah has a half-sister?! how cool is that?!
AFM: anyone else noticing the way their kids are growing up? i have noticed in the last few weeks that Leila physically is changing too. she no longer has that toddler roundness to her, but is now heading into lanky kid...so amazing...but my baby is growing up!!! wahhh how do we deal with it??!! i wanna press a pause button (just gotta time it for a non- tantrum-y moment )
Trill I too keep looking at the ban me thread and am considering a week ban
Clare omg yes on the growing up. L is coming out with some of the funniest things lately and over the last month or so we keep saying to each other how he seems to be growing up so quickly lately. Even Z is growing up so much.
Arte how is the pregnancy going? Will you be finding out the sex?
Jm will you find out the sex of your bubba?
H how is everything going?
I am still planning on coming to Melb at the end of March, no dates yet though as we are waiting on a friend to have her baby then we can book. I cant wait to meet you all and I am looking forward to picking up my cabbage patch doll from G lol.
Whats everyone doing for Australia day? We are off to the beach (no doubt with the rest of the GC).
Better go Z is demanding I put her clip on earrings on lol
Hi girls
Trill- is everything ok?
Oz- can't wait to meet you too and give you your cabbage patch :) will you be staying in the city?
 can't wait for you to visit Oz!!
Oh and in reply to an earlier question, yes dh went crazy at mil after she cut l's hair and he had her in tears apologizing. I don't forgive and forget though.
Ginger, I wouldn't be forgetting that either! What a b****. Glad your DH made her see the errors of her ways. This time at least....
Oz, preg going slowly. The same as W's pregnancy atm, very tired and starving but can't eat. I am terrified that I am going to get 24/7 nausea at 8 weeks like I did with W. I am not sure if we will find out the gender. Usually we don't find out but I already know it is a boy, so I don't mind if DH wants to find out at the scan.
Cass, W has been acting very grown up lately too. Just little things, like he asks to leave the table and takes his plate to the bench without having to be asked, and he is just so sweet to A.
MD, WTG on getting better by yourself! Hopefully it is the start of better immunity in time for winter.
JM, how is the sickness going? Hope you are feeling better. How long are you in Aust for?
Kindy starts again tomorrow, wish me luck getting everyone fed, dressed and out the door by 8.30am!
OMG congratulations Arte!!!! #3 that is very exciting news! GL for getting out the door. I will be in the same boat in a couple of weeks with M starting kindy too, and I too will need a huge amount of luck getting out the door on time.
Ginger I'm glad that MIL of yours feels bad and had a cry, that is so not on. So over these MIL's who take over.
Oz - We were thinking the beach too, but then I realised today we dont have a sun shelter to keep E in. Bummer!
What did you ladies do to entertain #1 while stuck at home with a newborn? M is going stir crazy. Been making heaps of trips to the park, but she gets so bored when we are at home and esp when I am stuck on the lounge feeding for an hour. Have been relying on the tv wayyyy to much and I am feeling quite guilty about it and very sorry for her.
Isadora- I used to take Lewis to the park or playground or play centre and just breastfeed there, or even better, invite friends with kids over to your place for a play date
Hi girls
Just put some food on our porch for another bb member to drop to rouge - hope ahe likes it....I don't even really know her but it feels good to do something that may ease the burden for her a little... I made sticky chicken and shakshuka...
I am off to the tennis with work clients today - love the tennis so happy w that!
Isadora - play dates helped heap at our place or at friends and also play centers...it was winter but parks were also good... Once you are more confident re feeding you willbeable to do it anywhere
Also don't feel bad using the tv - I think we all have to in these early days xxx
That is so kind mp, mmm sticky chicken sounds lovely! Have fun at the tennis! :)
I'm in the car on the way from syd to melb. Long drive ahead of us! Luckily the kids have their DVDs and I have my iPhone lol
hi girls!
Isa: we do playdates. i have teed up all the neighbours so we have one neighbour to visit a day  on the days that that doesnt happen we do TV with a trip to the cafe for a latte/bubbacino/boob. also have taken the girls to the cinema to watch "tangled". next will be "yogi bear". that one is a good one as you get out, but are not on show and can just chill out and the toddler feels like they have done something super fun ITMS.
otherwise for home things to do: i have ripped out the chalk and quickly drawn up a "car city" on the bricks outside and popped a few matchbox cars etc on them. she seems to like that game...
we also do TV. i think i posted a similar story when Marta was just born...was feeling really guilty about the TV, but it passes and soon enough you are not so shagged and bubs is happy to lie on the floor or in the bouncer for a bit at a time...makes a big difference when they start doing that...well it did for me...meant i could cook a bit, get on BB and clean up/reorganise leila's room (i found that doing that helped her get interested in her toys a bit more IYKWIM).
i also got into making shortbread. reallllly easy and quick, and again, Leila felt that we had done something truly exciting: and YUMMY lol! i tried to time it for afternoon tea :)
G: have a great trip home!
AFM: we had an AWESOME AWESOME time at werribee zoo!! we went on the bus safari and all the animals were in the spirit and we had bison, rhinos, giraffes and zebras all come up to the bus for a sniff! it blew leila's mind as we were sitting opposite the doors and when the bus stopped she got to stand in front of the doors and the animals were right there. soooo cool.
then i had the best moment with a cheetah. i was sitting at the big glass panel and this cheetah comes right up and squarely looks me in the eye. then starts walking up and down (as they do lol) then comes back and just stares at me (and me at him :)) and rubs himself on the glass in front it was way cool. got some great photos and video of it. *mwah*
That sounds awesome Clare!!
Today we went down to one of the local parks for a breakfast and had a bit of a play. Then into town for shopping, then an hour getting someone coming down off a sugar high to have a nap. Only one more day for DH and DD at home, then back to school for everyone. Mum and Dad are coming down on the weekend.
Hope everyone is well. Is anyone else obsessed with tucking in? K is in a toddler bed and I'm tempted to go and get a single sheet so it can be tucked in and stay in - there were hysterics at 2:30am because she was untucked last night.
Ginger - must be good to be back home
JM - hope you get the chance for a quick scan while you are back
Isa - welcome back!
MP - that is so good of you to do a cook up
Oz - keep meaning to tell you, K loves your business page on FB. She always wants to look at pictures of babies, and there are just so many gorgeous ones on there!
hi everyone!
Cally - hmm N isnt obsessed w being tucked in, he is more like me and likes to stick his feet out i think. we use a doona and no top sheet... that said your plan re a single sheet tucked in sounds like a good one to me...
what have DH and K been up to? and how did the swim intensive go? i am looking fwd to swimming lessons starting again next weekend.
G - welcome back from hols... dont envy you with the drive - did it go ok? bet you are glad to be home. looking fwd to our meet up at your place...
Ange - how are you enjoying being back? are you having a scan while you are here?
Trill - in case your ban isnt working (LOL) - hi!
Oz - i really want to see some of your work. will you be doing any work while in melb? (maybe i could get you to take some pics of the boys). i wanted to have all family ones but i am still trying to lose weight LOL! cant wait to meet you.
Clare - been exploring a few new kids places and thought of you - did you frequent bridie birdie num nums when you lived in brunswick? we had a lovely breaky there yest before we dropped the boys at gparents houses so we could go to the tennis. love it!
afm all is good. getting a bit frustrated that N doesnt get out of bed in the mornings - just yells out for us. in fact i am wonmdering about his manners generally so thats something we are working on. he is delicious aside from that!! J is so adorable atm, taking off with his talking etc and being soooo cute. slept thru on sun night and last night....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cally, sorry but I LOL'd about the tucking in. It's not so much tucking in our house but she is *very* particular about sheet and blanket placement and order, refuses to pull her own blankets up or down, mummy has to come in and do it for her . That's lovely you'll have your parents there...how is your dad going now?
Cass, wow your cheetah encountah sounds awesome! Maybe the animals knew that someone special was visiting that day. :) BTW I'm totally impressed at your neighbourhood roster, I don't even know a lot of the neighbours, despite there being signs (prams next to front doors etc) that there are other little people living close by too. Mind you, none of them have introduced themselves to me, either...
Ginger, yay for going home!!
MP, we had the same issue with Missy E not getting out of bed and just yelling at us too. It took about a month of going to her bedroom, opening the door and saying "you can get out of bed yourself" then pulling the door closed again before she finally twigged. My life is not necessarily any better now that she gets out of bed. I'd assumed she would get up and play (like DD1 used to) but instead she just comes straight in to us and makes demands there instead  Birdie birdie num nums sounds like the sort of place I would like to frequent!
Well we had a rocking Oz Day yesterday after I checked the bank account and our CCB rebate had landed in it..I hastily got online and booked tickets to see Disney Live! I have such great memories of seeing "Disney on Parade" when I was about 4 years old...highlight of my young life I think...so it was great to be able to share that with Missy E. She was probably a little on the young side (not sure if she completely followed all three story lines) but she absolutely loved the whole thing. Then we had lamb roast for tea, then we went down to the beach for an icecream, a play on the playground and Oz Day fireworks. I think that might've been Missy E's first fireworks, she loved them too.
sounds like such a lovely day MD. My Mum is taking N to see the disney fairytales on sat.
hi girls
i'm back in melbourne woo hoo!!!! v nice to be home, even though the house feels disgustingly dirty. how does that even happen when no one has been here? anyhoooo, great to pick up kitkat and feel comfy again. now to just get back to some normality.
ran into a lovely mum at the bakery this morning whose son is going to kinder with L. i really wanna make friends with her but don't want to come on too strong iykwim? i don't even know her name yet but she seems lovely and has 3 little boys.
sounds like a lovely aus day md. we are taking the boys to see the walking with dinosaurs show this year, just hope they're not scared!!!
mp and cass - looking forward to you coming over. will pm you the addy now :)
woot! address locked in!
MP: we used to frequent birdy nums nums a fair bit (we used to live in Park st. so only a 5 min walk away :)). love that play area and sandpit out the back...
MD: oh the disney thing sounds like fun! i wanted to take Leila to the wiggles but it was going to be a bit hard (i thought) by myself with the two girls) and i couldnt convince DH...think i will have to put my big girl undies on and just suck it up and go.
G: was kit kat happy to see ya'll? my cats tend to try to ignore me when we have been away lol.
AFM: today is a boring day (post zoo let-down lol). the builder came to knock out a wall, but turns out we do need a lintel and *of course* the truck isnt available til monday :wall: (yes, the irony of me using the "wall" emoticon was not lost ).
so now am stuck at home with the 2 girls and a house completely higglety pigglety with furntiture piled up everywhere. and it's going to be like this for a week!!! arghhh!
Cass - our cat just walks around meowing at everything when we get back from holidays. Birdy birdy num nums sounds great! Bummer on your lintel requirements.
Ginger - hope you make a new friend.
MD - I refused to tuck in tonight, so she is wrapped up in her doona, knees out to each side and her hands on her knees - looks like she is meditating! We also have pulling up issues, apparently she is 1 when it comes to pulling up blankets she keeps telling me. Dad is going well, halfway through tomorrow.
MP - I'm trying to hang onto the top sheet as it is so much easier to wash regularly than a doona cover!
Cally, no problems with sheets here. Good to hear your dad is doing well.
MP, W has always jumped out of bed the second he opens his eyes, so I have never had to deal with yelling from bed. I suspect it wouldn't get him far though, I am not one to indulge yelling from afar. I make a point of ignoring him when he is yelling from outside until he comes in and asks nicely. But maybe I am a ***** lol.
Cass, the zoo trip sounds awesome! We went to Wellington Zoo a month or so ago - massive let down! There was basically nothing there except the giraffes, a couple of big cats that were miles away and a few monkeys that did a load of nothing lol. Bugger about the wall.
MD, the disney sounds very cool. That is great that you remember going when you were little. She may remember, I have been finding W remembers things from ages ago, like our trip to Southland in April last year which he still rabbits on about.
Sorry to those I have missed, I should actually be cleaning the house before DH gets home.
I am off to the dentist this afternoon after I managed to floss out a huge chunk of filling the other day. Now there is a massive hole and it hurts! I am sure it is going to be costly - it is a baby tooth and it is decaying all around the filling. Not sure what the options are, if we just keep filling it until there is no tooth left or what?? Guess I will find out.
Kindy is going really well. No problems at all with drop offs this year - in fact today he told me to go!
Hi chicks, just a quick pop in to say that yes, all is fine, and i do have an anterior placenta. Thanks for the reassurance. :) I too am having a bit of a BB break. I am popping in occasionally, but not often. xx
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO whats with all the breaks!!!!
Ange - so glad all is OK.... i knew it would be! xxx
i'm not on a break LOL
neither am I. i just couldnt even if i tried lol.
JM: wooohooo on a bubba kicking away...into a placenta no less :)
have you found out what you are having or waiting for arrival day??
Since she's on a break I'll let you know that much to my disgust, jm is waiting till arrival day. I really don't know how I'm going to last that long!
So Md do u need me to pm u my address?
argh! but that is aaageess away! i vote girl...'cause she makes cutie-pies :)
yeah MD...i better be having to pick you up from the airport.
my vote is for BOY!
i am stuck in front of comp with J dead asleep on me LOL L is asleep in bed
I am saying a girl for JM, three girls would be just divine!!!
Ginger - Whats the bet the other mum wants to make friends with you too. Hopefully with the boys going to kindy together it will happen naturally and you wont feel like like you are throwing yourself at her hehehe!
Cassius - Certainly dont envy you with the renovating. So not a renovator. But it will all be worth it for you guys in the end.
MD - The disney show sounds like it was a hit! Glad you had a wonderful day.
I managed to get two kids fed, dressed and out the door to the shops today. Quickly bunged some clothes on myself etc etc. Caught a glimpse of my bum in the mirror at myer, for some ridiculous reason I put on big black granny knickers under a white summer dress - not a good look at all lol.
Does anyone know when its hot weather do you need to BF baby more to prevent dehydration? Its so hot here today and will be all weekend.
Isadora, yes you will need to feed more but you might find the pattern of feeds are more shorter ones during the day (the foremilk which comes first is more watery and thirst quenching) and then longer feeds at night (for the calories in the richer hindmilk). Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and more yourself. There is a good fact sheet on keeping baby cool on the ABA website: http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/cool.html
yep lots of breastfeeds in hot weather. make sure you drink lots of fluids yourself too
Thanks girls, and thanks for the link MD.
ok girls, just a quiet freak out. mum was on the phone and for the first time ever she is actually worried about the cyclone...being with the police force she has heard of what they are expecting and she is quietly freaking out. man, i wish she wasnt there....arrghhhh!
