Anthiea: you're doing so,so well! i can understand the connection thing you'd have with your DH. if you need to talk...im around mmk?
As for mg - yeah we go to eather others places for the time being. its soooo cold here in melb its the best idea (and the cheapest! hehe) i havent really 'connected' with any of the mums. i guess i'm still in my shell - had too meany bad experances with "all girls" haha (went to an all girls school...and lets just say...in year 12...walls were my wepon of choice ) but they're all really nice so maybe i'll settle in a bit better...who knows...if all else fails i have you lovies on BB - my life saver alot of the time!
Huge hugs Antheia! I really feel for you. We're all here as much as you need.
Sorry, no personals tonight as I am absolutely buggered! Oliver has been a big cranky pants since 5pm, and has only just gone down to sleep. I'm now beginning to think maybe he is teething... He's so cranky and unlike himself. I'm off to bed to try and catch as many zzz's as possible. Goodnight.
sterla :aww poor you! i hope oli goes back to his 'old angelic self' soon! maybe once the teethie pegs are though he'll be better? maybe try giving him something to chew on?
AFM: been a a good day...DH is home "sick" again (so dont get me started on him haha) i finaly put the rest of my wedding photos on fb! i better go i got a whingey sooky bum of a baby today!
Hey Girls,
Sterla Im feeling you, hope Oli is better tonight. How was he through the night?
We have been trying to get Winter down for over an hour now, she keeps waking up screaming. Gave her some panadol but jeez I hope she sleeps ok poor Baybay.
Had MG today in the park, was good Im spent though.
Hi ladies!!So sorry i not been here again,oh i just cant believe how much i seem to have on lately,I had my dad stay for a week when he said only like 3 days then had another friend stay,i havent been on here at all!!But thankfully things are getting back to normal, felt a bit off too,dad announced hes getting married,im happy for him but its just gone 2 years since mum passed away and selfish as it sounds just made me think about her more again and miss her again, but i know he has to get on with his life,so ive been busy with that too, madness!!!Anyway other than that its i been feeling a bit down, sorry ladies here i am havent been on here for ages and then loading yous down with all my problems, the health nurse is worried about Summers developement, she has been going to physio, they say she favours her right side too much and also she hates tummy time so i naughtily gave up giving it to her much and so she cant roll or anything yet and she doesnt grab for thigs much,i mean she does sometimes but shes more interseted in her hands not whats in them,i dont know, she seems ok in other ways shes so happy and laughs all the time etc and loves being on her feet shes real strong there,i guess theres just milestones or things they go by and at 5 months shes really behind!!So thats that,i have to go the physio tomorrow again and im dreading it,i think shes improved but not much,at least ive been doing what i can and shes better on her tummy, still hates it though!!!Anyway sorry about the rave on!!Sorry theres no personals,i will try tomorrow, ive read threw some posts, glad everyone sounds well, righto,I might go and watch tv in bed with a hot choccy and a choccy heehee, nighty nights
Pj - daz is like summer and loveloveloves his hands! he's only in the last two weeks started liking toys! have you tried "tummy time" on your chest? like belly to belly? you're doing good darl. trust your gut instinct
Thanks Blip!Glad Summers not the only one with a hand obsession!!haha!I havent tried that much on my tummy maybe i will, any ideas are good hey,i gues theres so many different ways of getting them on there tummy, just have to think of them, she really loves her bath too so last night I put her on her tummy in the bath and she was so busy playing and splashing i dont think she reaslised so that was good.I'll keep perservering, shes got to get used to it eventually surely!!!I noticed that you mentioned facebook, are all you girls on there because i am too!!
Pj- a few of us are! as for rolling i read its 'normal' for babies to start rolling from 3-7 months! so i understand the whole phyiso thing (daz was sent to one as well...and she's bleepin' bleep of a bleep..KWIM?) i'll PM you with my name if you like? if you need to talk just let me know...im happy to listen and i understand the whole push for babies to develop! and FWIW - daz dosent have much tummy time he throws up if i put him there...so its short sints of tummy time...and even then...hes too busy munching on his hands to do much else!
Gee it's been quiet around here recently. Hope everyone is doing okay.
1pj: I tried to PM you my details for FB, but it wouldn't let me send it... so (since everyone here knows my name anyway ) - look up Selina Purdy and you should fine me. Try not to worry about Summer (I know it's hard), but just remember that every baby is different... all babies develop at different times, and really, by the time they're older, as long as they can do everything they need to, it doesn't matter when they learnt to do something.
Blip: Oliver quite enjoys munching on his hands too... they're constantly all wet and slimy from it
AFM: I took Oliver into the library this morning for "Rock and Rhyme". It's a music session for mum's and babies. I think it's actually aimed more at toddlers, but there were other younger bubs there too. It's basically just a lot of singing along to nursery rhymes and songs with lots of actions. All the bubs are given an instrument (mainly things to shake) aswell. I think Oliver liked it - he had his hands in his mouth the whole time, lol, but was watching it all with a great deal of interest. He was eyeing off the other babies, and at one point reached out to touch the hair on a toddler's head that was walking past! I also picked up a Baby Book Pack that they had at the library - they have them for different ages 0-12 months, 2-3 years, etc. Oliver loves books, so he should have some fun with that. He was so tired though, and conked out in the car on the way home.
Haha you are a true BB addict Sterla! I find I go through phases with it, and DP and I have been spending more 'quality time' together at night which means I dont sit on BB all night anymore :P I still wish I found it earlier though and tell every mum I meet about it, I bet your the same?
well, I am here still fluey ( boo) but getting better, my DH has not been to work for 3 days and most likely not going tonight either. Sammy has now got her first real cold but she's been pretty good, the wheezing scares the crap out of me though. Our 1st Family flu!! LOL
I tried pear on Wednesday for Sam and it looked like she had a mild reaction but I think it was weepy eye from her cold, I tried banana yesterday and definatly did not get any reaction, soo WOOHOO< one fruit she can have..although she is not a big fan yet. She did seem to enjoy it more this am. I will try pear again in a couple days once her eye has completely stopped weeping. At least she LOVES her sweet potatoes and they are full of goodness.
Sterla: I looked into MCN's whilst pregnant and we were definatly gonna go cloth but in the nd, we only live in a unit and just don't have the washing capacities to go cloth. My FIL bought us 60 terry cloth ( because we said we wanted to go cloth but he never asks anything, he just goes out and buys stuff without asking what I want, drive me nust actually) So I am using them as spew cloth at the mo, maybe for #2, but we just don't have the money to spend on MSN at the mo with the house being built and all. Glad to see Oliver has started sleeping soundly again, Sammy did the same, be thankful it only lasted a week and not 5 like Sammy! LOL She has started wakig at 1:30 am and 4:30am again but I thik its because of the cold and she is a bit restless. Glad your housearming went well too
Peach: Hang in there girl, it will pass eventually. I know all too well the sleep depravation especially when you got used to sleeping a semi decent night. Do you feed her every time she wakes? We resorted to giving her a sippy cup with cooled boiled water at the 12:30 wake up, she whinged and what not for the first couple nights but then her body basically remembers and just goes...it's not worth waking if she is not going to feed me" as I said it does take a few nights and there is a bit of screaming involved but it did work for us. Hope Peach can rejoin us soon and that Zombie Peach can go ahve a good rest! LOL
PJ: You poor thing, I PRAY this cream works for Summer, have you got it yet? As for your sister, she means well and probably forgot what its like to be a 1st time mum. Maybe remind her of that next time and tell her that its hard enough to deal with it all and that it would be nice if she supported you as opposed to telling you what to do. She may not even realise she is doing it. On the other hand, you will find that as far as kids are concerned, everyone is certain they are an expert and that their way is the highway. My philosophy is to listen and take whatever bits I choose to and ignore the rest. The people handing out the advice just don't need to know that ;-)
Blip: Well you have been a busy bee haven't you? baking madness and everything. Hope your DH's work is not as stressful and that it gets sorted out soon. As for "bum" aka Daz, it is too funny that he spewed on cue, LOL it can be his party trick. Did you end up trying solids for his reflux in the end? Oh an no, no P's for me yet....since we got the new 4WD, I've been a bit scared to drive it but we are gonna get back onto lessons asap, I just dont know where the time goes, it seems weeks are flying by.
Antheia: Truly hope you are coping well without DH. Sending you lots of hugs!
Dh and I are going down to Melbourne early August for a mini holiday, can't wait to get Sammy onto the plane, should be fun! We have booked ourself in a "presidential spa suite" at this cute boutique hotel for $150 a night!!! YAY to travelling in winter eh? Also I forgot to mention that Sammy now has her 2 bottom teeth and I am expecting the other top 2 very soon, she's been drooling llike a maniac! She also bit me on one of the last BF..which has come to end for me about a week ago. When I got the flu, I really needed drugs to function and it basically stopped it for me. DH is still a bit disappointed that I didn't go to 6 months but seriously, considering how much milk I was making, I am suprised i lasted this long. It's been great DH has been helping me out with night feeds too which has been rather nice. I loved the experience of BF but am glad it's over as I think neither Sam or me were enjoying it in the end.
okey dokey, off for a nice cuppa while DH and Sam are both asleep.
I didn't post earlier cause I didn't get any notifications of new posts..... arrghhh, I thought you girls were being quiet too!! Regardless, I don't think I would have had the energy, its been a real bad flu, knocks your socks off kind!
Ciao for now
sterla: Aww for the blah day. i'm having one today haha ... and we're ment to be heading off on our holiday :eyeroll: i hope you have a good weekend with your DH and oli!
moose: aww you poor thing & sammy and your DH too! i think daz has a cold...he keeps sneezeing and i told him "geeze dont you watch the Flu adds on TV? COVER YOUR MOUTH AND WASH YOUR HANDs" lol. you did good to make it to five and a bit months! you shoudl be proud...and if you DH is disapointed as him to start lactating and see how he goes! Ooo melbourne winters and COLD. as in it was 5deg. here thismoring! and jack frost rain accross the grass!
Ooo i better go pack!
have a good few days with out meeeee...dont do anything i wouldnt...and if you do...well...dont get caught!
Moose: Hi! That's happened to me before, where I haven't been notified of new posts here... But yes, we've been busy chatting away.
That's no good about your first family flu - but I'm glad you're starting to feel better .
That's great that some of Sammy's teeth have come through. A mum I know, her daughter has been teething on and off since about 4 months (she's now 7.5 months), and still no teeth have actually come through.
As for MCNs - we're by no means rolling in $$$, but we got DH's tax return so had a bit extra lying around! I can completely understand not having the washing capacity in a unit though - DH and I used to live in a unit, and there was only so much line space for drying. We have a bunch of flat nappies too - which have been used for spit up cloths! They are so handy and versatile .
Yay for your mini holiday!
Blip: Have fun! We'll miss you .
Peach: Well, I tell heaps of people about BB (though to most I just say, "That forum I'm on all the time), but I don't know many mums IRL yet (am slowly changing that ), but I bet I will end up telling them all about it. I think I joined BB exactly at the right time - basically at the start of my pregnancy. I can't tell you how many questions I had answered and how much support I received... My pregnancy would have been a very worrying and lonely time if it weren't for BB .
AFM: Well, I thought that Oliver had gone back to his normal sleep patterns, of waking twice a night, but no... Last night he went down at 7.30pm, up at 10.30pm, up at 12.40, up at 4am and up at 6.45am. And the first few times he woke he didn't just do a little cry - he was screaming at me (you know the kind, where you think surely this is hurting your throat). He had a feed and went back down fine each time... but my goodness *yawn*. Maybe he is needing solids? I'm so confused. I'll see what he does tonight, and if he's up again like that I'll definitely be thinking he's ready for solids. Anyway, DH and I are going to buy Oliver a high chair today to be ready.
Also, I'm off to have my haircut at 11.45am . DH is going to watch Oliver - I think this will be the longest I've left Oliver with him. I have no idea what I'm going to get done... something low maintenance, but still nice and stylish (instead of the boring non-style I have atm). Plus, this can count as my 'homework' for MG - we had to do something completely for ourselves. I didn't do mine last week, so I was told I'd have to do it this week, lol.
Hey Girls,
Sterla that sounds exactly like what my nights have been like. Its hard hey... Oh that will be so nice getting your hair done let us know how it turns out. DP is meant to be colouring my hair today but Imso tired I cant be bothered.
Might try the sippy cup trick Moose, although she hates water when she has her cup it goes in her mouth and strait back out. Going back to aaages ago, your girls night sounded fun, glad you had a good time Yes I feed her each time she wakes which is bad as I fall asleep with her in the bed. Thats no good your unwell, lots of vegies and rest! How many solid meals are you guys feeding sammy? What do you feed her? We have just added a second meal to the menu here and give fruit/vegie in the morning and then rice cereal in late arvo. Interested to hear what othere people are doing though...
Blip- where have you gone??
PJ- hows your wkend going? How is Summer?
Antheia- How are you?
Went shopping yesterday and got Winter a dress for the wedding we are attending next weekend and also a high chair as I have been feeding her out of her pram and her swing. She looks so small in her new chair! Started her on avocado yesterday and she did her first avo poo.... and DP had to change it heheh. Was meant to go to the park today but toooooo tired
Peach: Awww, I bet Winter looks gorgeous in her dress! You've been busy with weddings? I think I remember you going to a wedding a couple of months ago. I've barely been to any weddings... I think I went one as a kid, then the next one I went to was my own! Since we've been married we've been to one, but have another one coming up in Feb 2010.
Haha, DH and I almost bought Oliver a high chair yesterday, but decided not to, as we keep putting off starting Oliver on solids. I think we'll get one when we actually do start. We put Oliver in a high chair in the store though, and he was sooo tiny in it, so I know what you mean!
Well, I got my haircut yesterday, and it is now quite short. I think it sits around my jawline. I've also now got a bit of a side fringe... so quite different. I think I scared the hairdresser though - she asked me what I wanted and I said I wasn't sure - just something low maintenance but different. I don't think they like that...
I also did some clothes shopping for the first time since Oliver was born .
Glad to hear your hair cut turned out good, it sounds really nice. Yeah no rush with solids, if Oli isnt ready there is no point pushing it. It is more work in the end, enjoy only needing to unclip your bra as food preparation while it lasts!
Yes we have been busy with weddings! The last one we went to at Bundaberg in may was only the third one Ive ever been too, but Im sooo excited for the next one. Its on south stradbroke island, well actually another island just off stradbroke. Its going to be so awesome. And I have the hens night this wednesday actually. Going out in Surfers paradise, my friend who is the bride to be has got a penthouse apartment for the week(lucky thing!) so we will be getting festive there before heading out. And it will mean leaving Winter at home with DP for longer than an hour, so it will be the longest Ive been away from her! Im a little scared.
