Question AF or Lochia - Alan

    Well,

So i though my lochia had finished up last week but i have started to bleed again. I started bleeding bright red blood (just like a period) on tuesday or wednesday. Then the next day it stopped again. But i have just been to the loo and the bright red bleeding is back. Its really mucousy too. Kinda like snot. Sorry if TMI!

I am confused...Is this still lochia or is it my AF??

Please help. Should i call and speak to a midwife???

I think maybe you should call the mid wife or gp just to check.

    Hi BJ,

Yeah i think i should too. I've been putting it off incase it is just AF.

    Thanks.

BTW - Where about exactly are you located??? I see near Dubbo. My DP, Brent, is from Gilgandra! His sister is up from their at the moment!

Hi sara ~ Sounds like it could still be lochia? I know it took me the full 6+ weeks for things to settle down, and I've lost more in the last few weeks than the first. I actually thought my AF might be returning when I found some mucousy stuff (TMI!) last week, I thought it might have been fertitle CM!!! But I read that Lochia is like this at the end.

    Hey Sara

    Similar thing happened to me.

Bleeding started up again after a week of it stopping. Bright red blood which got a little heavier with each day and some little clots as well...

I rang my Ob. and he said that it sounded like I had an infection...I have just finished antibiotics and bleeding has reduced markedly.

Sounds like it would be worthwhile contacting GP...just in case...

Hi. I was born & bred in Gil. I think I might have an idea who u are talking sbout. There were only 2 Brents there that I remember. Whats their last name?
I don't live there anymore. I'm 30k's out now after enjoying coastal life for a few years. Would like to still be on the coast, but DH wanted to come home. Lucky us!

    Hi Sara
Sorry I have only just seen this post. It could be AF. Lochia or an infection. Without being able to examine you it is inpossable for me to say for sure. A trip to your doctor would be a good idea. Sorry I was unable to help.

Sara, just wanted to say same thing has happened to me. The day before my 6wk app with Ob (I was 6wks 5 days from birth) I had what I thought AF. So when I was at my Ob I said Af had started. But then within a day it had stopped. Then a couple of days later I bleed a little more but only for the day. I'm just confused, it does seem quite mucusy.

    Hi everyone,

Just thought i would update. Thing seem to have settled down the last couple of days. I did'nt end up going to see my Dr though. Last time i saw her she gave me a script for anti-biotics just incase because aparently you are at higher risk of infection if you have had a manual removal of your placenta. I have'nt got it yet cause i'd rather wait and see if the bleeding continues or stops. I have my 6 week check-up back out at the hospital this friday so i will mention it too them.

Thanks so much for all you replies.

Bjrose - OMG! What a small world. Brent's lastnight is Harvey. He has a sister Belinda(lindy) and a brother Dean. We always seem to bump into so many people from Gil up here. Lots of ppl live up here now from there. Esp odd seeing as Gil is such a small town! What a spin out! I've told Brent about you. What is your first name? I'll see if he knows you.

I kinda remember him. His mum had a cafe on the Dubbo road I think. He would've been in about yr 11 or 12 when I started high school. I thought thats who you were talking about. He's the only Brent I could think of around that age. Belinda was only a couple years above me. My name is Skye O'Shannessy. Don't think I know Dean though. So where are you guys at? We lived at Nambucca Heads on the coast & every second person was from Gil or Dubbo. They are the smart ones see.

Yes that's the family. I told him who you are and he said he knows your name. He said are you related to Bud and Kylie O'Shannessy??

Brent and Dean live here in Townsville and Lindy is still living at their place on Mendooran Road.

So you must be my age then??? I was born 1984. Brent, Dean and Lindy are all older than me.
