Emma, it is ok to take it at any time. If you want to be really sure you don't fall pg then it's better to start it straight away.
Hi everyone,
I got my period six weeks after my baby was born. I only just got the script for the mini pill. Is it okay to just start taking the mini pill or should I wait to see if my period returns and then start taking it on the first day? I guess it could be a long wait as I'm breastfeeding so things may not be regular.

Thanks Melanie. I'm actually really confused as my doctor told me to do that. However, when I double checked with the pharmist (spelling!) she told me it was a little risky, to wait and see if my period returns and start taking it then. So confusing for dh and I.![]()
I've got a script for the mini pill to fill yet too. I asked my dr whether I should wait for AF and he said probably best as it may cause spotting which I definatley don't want. I'd rather know what's what and keep track of my cycle. On the other hand I def don't want to fall pg so soon so I'm really in two minds ATM too as really, I dont even want to take it in the first place. I have not used the pill for, wow, 8 years actually, and I fell pregnant really easily. I'd hate to have to wait before TTC again...Did you decided what you are going to do Emma?
Its been a busy year for us- buying a house, moving, having our first baby so we don't want to risk another pregnancy at the moment. We will use condoms and wait and see if my period arrives.
Also I feel a little scared when I hear people talking about the mini pill affecting their milk supply.
