Anyone on Implanon put on weight?

I am thinking of my contraception options post-birth and I have been looking at implanon mainly because it is long term, but some of the side effects like weight gain and irregular bleeding bother me.

I would love to hear anyone's experiences with this?

I was implanon for about 18 months a couple of years ago and never had weight gain, and didn't get a period the whole time. After going off it, it took 18 months for my cycle to come back.
I'm thinking of going on it now as the mini pill didn't really agree with me.

I put on 20kg... so it made me put on weight. I can't lose it that easy now either...

I've had it for a year now, and actually lost 5kgs in that year...

I did have some breakthrough bleeding, but no actual "period" as such. I think it's just great. I don't miss the mood swings, regular bleeding, acne, etc that I used to have!

I'm keeping it in now that I'm separated, not because of sex (not that I'm getting any) but because it's convenient.

My sister had to have hers removed because of the breakthrough bleeding, as did another friend. One friend put on about 5kgs, but has had the implant out and now lost the weight (no real struggle either). Another friend had it out to get pg, and got pg first cycle.

    Best wishes.

Thanks girls. I spoke to my sister who has it in and she said she did put on weight with it and had irregular bleeding, but that didn't worry her too much. After reading a bit more about it though I think I will just go back on the pill - I don't want to run the risk that I will experience any or all of the side effects and have to get the thing taken out again, so I will stick to what I know! Besides, DH is talking about getting the snip soon...will see about that.
