Unhappy Caesar wound has sprung a leak!!!!!!!!

    Just needing some advice here,
I had my caesar one week and one day ago, but last night when getting ready for a shower, i took off the combine bandage thing off the scar, and noticed it was covered in blood!!. It has leaked all night too, but seems to be waterish as well as the blood. The hole it is leaking fom is only about 1cm-1inch long, but i am wanting to know if this is an infection, or is it common?

I had this happen to me as well with my 3rd c/s. It is worth going to the Dr to get it checked out, I had to have swabs done and mine was caused by an infection, but then we used some dissolving stitches to close it up again. I was told it was because I was doing too much and didnt rest enough after the c/s. Not an easy thing to do when you have 2 older DD's who need to be looked after, a Dad that needs care too, a DH who wants his dinner cooked and a baby in hospital and having to do milk runs every few hours.
Get it checked out and hopefully it will be nothing.

    Thanks Dinky
i went to the doctors just now, and she called up the hospital registrar who didnt think putting in stitches would help, but to use steri strips instead,,,, but i dont think they are going to stick very long as it is oozing so much.
Even worse,, When the doctor checked it out,, it is not just one peice about 1cm that is reopened,, there are 3 spots like it that are oozing like mad now,, and she said there are even more spots doing it too!! She has put me on a course of anitbiotics, and told me to not exert myself at all for a few days to let it close over again!!
I am a bit scared it might all open up completely again,, and just wish they had put in the stitches instead!!

I hope they get it all sorted tonight and put more stitches in. It's terrible having a fever after a c/s. I had a really bad fever about a week after my c/s but it turned out to be a UTI.

The doctor i was at emergency thinks that the wound oozing (which he classed as a major leakage) is a reaction i am having to the internal stitches,, like i am allergic to them or something,, so he will not stitch it again for fear of making things worse. This morning at my gp the wound was not red at all,, tonight it was bright red. They just upped to dose of antibiotics, and gave me some more combine bandages, telling me that if the fever gets worse overnight, i have to go into hospital on a drip . Poor bubba is feeding off one hot mumma,,,, and i dont mean cute hot either,,,, i am finding he is overheating from feeding too. Fingers crossed tomorrow brings better

    Lil aussie that's jsut awful!

I had a small gape in my wound after about 2 weeks and it got infected, I had staples and just after I had every 2nd removed was when I got the gaping.

How awful for you to have to go through this.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery
