    Carpal tunnel - decreased dexterity?

I didn't have it too badly, but did have it towards the end of my pregnancy. My question for anyone else who had carpal tunnel syndrome, is have you noticed a decrease in the dexterity of your hands/fingers? Ever since the pg, I've struggled with buttons and things.. moreso than I normally would. Its like my fingers feel a bit weak? The symptoms of carpal tunnel went almost straight away after the birth, so I dont' think I'm still suffering it, but I feel like it's done something to my hands?

Maybe I should start playing the piano more again? hehe. altho you'd think all this typing on BB would keep my dexterity up! LOL. Typing and stuff isn't a problem actually, it's fiddly stuff like buttons.

Anyone else had this? Just wondering if it's related to the carpal tunnel syndrome.

    Thanks!

I had quite bad CTS during my pregnany from mid second trimester all the way through until 3 days before I had Danielle (she was early - I should've read the signs!!). I don't really have much trouble with things now but back then - OMG - it was the worst pain ever - until child birth came!! Hehehehe!! I do find that my right hand was worse than my left hand and it doesn't seem to scrunch up as easily at my left hand. Whether it's that or not I'm not sure - I haven't really thought about it. I'm not in any pain so hopefully it's all good.

I just hope it doesn't come back as bad with number 2 for either of us!!

Yeah - mine wasn't severe, but would wake me up at night, and the tips of 2 of my fingers were permanently tingly.. to the point sometimes I couldn't really feel if something was hot or not!

I hope it doesn't come back too I wonder if summer makes it worse? maybe I should plan a winter baby. hehe.

I got it with Paige and while it was painful and uncomfortable, it didn't seem to affect the movement or dexterity of my hands that I noticed. It is possible that it has somehow tightened the mucles/ligaments. A friend of DH's who is a shearer suffered quite badly with it to the point that even when he had no pain, his movement was very limited in his hand and he had to have surgery to fix it, but I'm sure you won't fall into that category.

Have you tried seeing a Physio to get some exercises?

ETA - Paige was a winter baby and she was the only one I got it with LOL

hehe.. doh at winter pg's still getting it! hehe. Nah.. I'm sure I'm not in the surgery category.. I just find fiddly things MORE fiddly these days that's all. I hope it doesn't compound with each pg!

Sorry I had Danielle in July and it's no better. Maybe it's worse as the cold could tighten everything up more. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!
