Mods I hope I`ve put this in the right spot, I wasn`t sure where it should go.
Anyway with ongoing problems with my 4th degree tear not healing (I have a hole just above my bottom which refuses to heal with pus and pain ozzing from it for weeks) I`ve been back and forth to my GP who then sent me to my local hospital (not my birthing hospital), I have seen a different Dr there each time I go, today I have my 3 monthly check up at my birthing hospital and I`m wondering if I can ask the Dr there to refer me to a private OB/Gyn - is this an ethical thing to do? If I ask can he send me to a private Dr or can he refuse to?
I did ask my own GP but he was more interested in sending me to the Public Hospital.
I just feel by seeing one private Dr who will see the same wound each visit he`ll know if it`s getting better or not.
I`ve been in tears for the last few days about this, here I am 3 months post birth and still having problems, I`m glad I got my VBAC but now I`m wishing I had gone along with my OB and had a c/sec. All I want is to be back to normal again Oh dear the tears have started again.
Oh Dee... I am sorry that I don't have an answer for you... I just wanted to give you a big hug
I hope that you get to see the same Dr for each time... it only makes sense to.
I am quite certain that if you ask for a referral to a private practitioner/specialist, that they are required to give you one. Especially seeing as you have a very good reason to see one consistently.
Huge *hugs* for you Dee, I hope things start to heal up soon, you poor chook...
Thanks girls for the hugs, as it turned out the waiting list for an op to fix my problem through the public system is quite long so he`s referred me to a private OB/Gyn, in the meantime I`m still hoping it will heal without another operation down there .
Big hugs from me too Dee. I think about you all the time and wonder how you are doing with the two littlies and all th problems you are having. You poor wee thing
I think you can definitly ask for a referral. If the waiting list is that long, it might be worth dipping into the baby bonus to get it fixed up privately. After all - happy baby = happy mummy.
I hope the private OB/GYN helps you out sooner rather than later.
Huge Dee. I'm glad you got that referral. Let us know what the doc says when you see them - I hope you don't have to wait too long to get in. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thank you girls for your thoughts and hugs, they are very much appreciated.
As it has turned out, my problem is very nearly healed, I`ve been using manuka honey, not sure if that helped or it was just a coincidence, it`s not back to normal as yet but is very very close, have even attempted bding
I haven`t heard from any Dr`s at all about my appointment, perhaps it takes time for him to contact a private specialist but the way things are going I will not need to go.
My problem has decided to open up again and the pain has come back, went back to the Hospital today, saw yet a different Dr, who then referred back to the main Dr in charge as to what to do with me.
Tomorrow I`m having an ultrasound at 11.30am to find out how much of a pus collection there is then they will go from there but it`s looking like another operation for me.
Still haven`t heard from anyone about my referral to the private specialist and it`ll be 2 weeks tomorrow since I saw the Dr who was going to refer me privately.
Dee everytime I have received a referal except to a cardiologist I have gotten it printed out while I was there and then rung the dr I was being refered to to make my own appointment. If you still want to go private I would be chasing that dr up and getting that piece of per asap. Also my GP has always written out my referals and never had any probs ??
Saram - Same here I`ve always been given a written referal but this Dr said he`ll do it himself and I`ll hear from the specialist once he`s written to him, it seemed like a strange way of doing it.
My cardiologist was organised like that but it only took them a week to contact me. I would def be following up with the dr who said he would write it.
Dee,
Was it Andrew?
If it was, you need to ring him, he has probably forgotten, misplaced etc. Just chase him. I have his receptionists direct line if you want it. Get to him that way.
I'm really sorry that you are going through this. If there is anything I can do, mind the boys etc, let me know.
