    D&C

Has anyone had a D&C 3.5 months after baby was born? I had a scan because I'd been having spotting and light bleeding on and off and light cramping irritated sort of feeling since baby was born and it said there was an abnormality so dr thinks its retained placenta

    Also what's a D&C like ? Is it painful?

My D&C was for a missed miscarriage, not retained placenta. I dont remember it being physically painful at all. It was a day procedure. I had a vaginal pessary inserted a little while before and then was put to sleep (not a full anesthetic though). I woke up when it was all done. I think there was some post op cramping - like period pain, but neurofen/panadol sorted it out. My DH picked me up after a few hours.

For me I only remember the emotional distress.

Same for me but I took an oral pill. Twilight sedation was used.
