Depressed - immune system seems to have dropped

    Hi All,

I had a fantastic pregnancy and had no health problems. But it seems after the birth of my DD, all these health problems are hitting me and its only been 4 weeks.

Firstly, I got severe rash all over my legs and tummy which caused me not to sleep from the itchiness. Went to the docs and that recently went away.

Then on Monday i discovered a lump in my throat, went to the doctors again and have to have an ultrasound and blood test done to see what the lump is all about (thyroid associated).

My 4th degree episiotomy has not healed and I have had 2 red painful lumps over the stitches.

But ... today has just totally threw me off. I discovered all these little lumps downstairs. I wash and clean everyday and am so depressed as to why all these issues are coming to me!!!!

I will be seeing a doctor about them tomorrow but why is this happening to me after the birth when during the pregnancy is when our immune system is suppose to be weak?

I just want to enjoy my DD and not have all these associated health issues =(

    Thanks in advanced!

Phoenix - sorry you are having a hard time with your health.

We were discussing this issue at my mums group yesterday - it seems all of us have some sort of residual health probs after having our babies (most are now 3-6 months). Some have had tearing, botched episiotomy scars, gastrointestinal problems, infections, kidney probs, prolapse and uti (me) etc etc. Not to mention hormonal issues related to breast feeding and then ceasing breast feeding. I certainly felt very healthy during the pregnancy and much less so now! The body certainly takes a beating after childbirth. However, I am convinced it's mostly temporary and our bodies will find their way back to normal. Just be patient and know you're not alone
